Vivi followed Tand towards the area with cage, still limping slightly as they made their way across the camp. The majority of the bandits did not seem aware that the unlikely trio was at fault for all of the crazy happenings in the camp. Most of the outlaws seemed to think that they were under assault by some guerrilla force in the woods, a concept she had no intention of disturbing. It would make their escape that much easier if the men and women of the bandit camp did not notice her escape until they had put out the fires and made sure their encampment was free of any intruders. The skinsharer did not even notice when their companion disappeared in the main area of the camp, too distracted by the thought of all the caged animals that these terrible outlaws had captured an imprisoned. These men seemed to believe that anything they could take by brute force belong to them, with no respect for the bounty that nature freely shared with all of them. To tell the truth, the girl felt a feral pride at the fact her animals had created such chaos and destruction in the camp. These terrible humans deserved a far worse punishment for all of their wrongdoings. When they reached the area where the creatures had been caged Vivi felt the blood drain from her face. "The poor animals!" Any trace of a nervous stutter faded from her voice as she dropped to one knee by the nearest cage, reaching through the bars to stroke at the fox kept within. Its red fur was matted and filthy, and she could tell from the haunted look in its eyes that it had been treated terribly by the outlaws. "We need to find the keys and-" The girl's words were cut off in a surprised gasp when she turned around. One of the biggest men she had ever seen was behind her, driving a thick fist into the archer's stomach. Vivi cried out in fear as Tand folded, her mind going blank as she stared at the hulking figure. If she had seen him earlier the girl would have slipped into the form of Hermes or Hephaestus in order to attack the beast-keeper with their natural weapons; as it was she had left her two pets just outside of the area to keep any further bandits from interfering. The skinsharer could hear the peregrine falcon screech as it plummeted towards the ground, but the girl knew that her avian companion would be too late. Suddenly the bandit who had fallen into the pit jumped at the man from behind, steel flashing in his hands. There was a sickening thunk! as the blade sank into the beast-keeper's back, accompanied by an odd sizzling noise. The massive man grunted, his eyes rolling back in his head as he staggered and fell to the ground. As Buddy offered a helping hand to the archer Vivi took a moment to compose herself, breathing heavily. Only when she saw the keyring hooked to the fallen man's belt did she move again, springing forward and ripping the keys off of his waist. The skinsharer forced herself to ignore the sickly sweet smell of seared meat as she rushed back to the cage with the fox, thrusting a key into the lock and slamming the door open. The small creature did not any invitation to flee; it immediately shot out of the cage,a blur of red and black fur as it dashed towards the nearby underbrush. Vivi methodically moved from cage to cage, a determined look on her face as she opened each door. Creatures of every size sprang out of their fetters, dashing towards freedom without sparing a second glance for their rescuer. The girl made sure to free all of the herbivores before she stepped back, looking worriedly at the last three cages. Two of them held wolves that were growling harshly, their eyes angry and dangerous. However, it was the last cage that truly scared her. Within the metal bars was a massive grizzly bear, easily eight feet tall and with paws the size of frying pans. Vivi had a certain affinity with animals, but she feared that if she opened the door to that cage the animal inside would take her head off with a single swipe of its claws. Outside of the cage area a number of bandits had noticed the trespassers. Four men broke off from the main group of bandits and rushed towards the trio, openly brandishing their weapons and screaming out a war cry. The girl's pets retreated back towards their master, the cheetah snarled ferociously and the boar snorted out small bursts of flame. |

Tand looked up at Buddy's offered hand, he took it and stood up, looking as Vivianne started to free the animals. Though he frowned when he saw the wolves and bear, those were far to dangerous to let out normally... unless... his thoughts were interrupted as he heard the four men rushing them. He still felt to weak to get a good killing shot off, so instead he had to improvise, he instead shot at the legs and feet of the men, his arrows striking true, easily slowing them down and crippling them. He turned to Vivi and took the keys from her hand, unlocking the cage of the wolves first, opening it up, he smirked as they rushed the injured bandits, tearing them to pieces as they bled on the ground. Finally he walked to the bear, he stared it down for a moment before opening the door, he made sure to move slowly, Tand had killed bears before in self-defense, he knew it took a good number of arrows to penetrate the fat and muscle and he just didn't have the strength for it. He watched the bear lumber out, it looked to the dying bandits the wolves were attacking and simply charged, straight past the wolves towards the main pack of bandits, the bear standing on it's hind legs and swatting out with massive paws, killing bandits with relative ease. Tand sighed as he looked at them, "Looks like my gamble paid off... though if anyone woulda made any kinda offensive or rapid movement we woulda all been torn ta' pieces right on tha' spot. Now lets get goin' while they're dealin' with tha' bear." He made towards the woods, ready to leave this place and get the girl to at least relative safety compared to the bandits camp, the relative safety of the woods. He felt the familiar weight of his pet raven, Nevermore, on his shoulder, looks like they would be safe if that little coward had come back, he smirked, stroking Nevermore's head as he walked. |

Buddy chuckled slightly, gazing for just a moment over the archer’s shoulder for just a moment as the man stood to his feet, blue eyes catching sight of several bandits who made damn sure to pay attention to everything that was going on and broke off from the mess of what could loosely be described as a “fight” and began to make their way over towards the animal cages. Of course, while the rogue could tell, even from that point, that it would take a bit of time for the bandits to make their way over to actually being any sort of threat for the impromptu trio, he couldn’t help but run the math in his head real quick, accommodating for the time it might take to place the proper key into the proper lock of each beast cage… all of a sudden, the numbers were seeming just a bit too close for his tastes, especially considering that he almost always preferred for his matters of confrontation to not be involving him. Then again, such a thing changed when he was knocked into the pit with the person and the word… Though, it would have honestly changed one way or the other, considering his mind made things just a bit more complex and wouldn’t allow him to be okay or even ambivalent to the fact that there was a person set to fight against some nasty and poorly depraved and deprived creature with no weapons of any sort. At least with gladiatorial battles the fighters were usually given a weapon of some sort. When the blonde’s eyes shifted to see the bear and the wolves still encaged, his math changed, and very quickly did he make his way to one of the smaller cages, now void of whatever animal was trapped within, and sitting himself upon the top, figuring that he could make it a useful escape from death, one way or the other, in case of an emergency such as a wolf or a bear trying to eat his face off. He could never be entirely sure with wild animals, if they were truly sentient and held the sort of understanding to realize that not all human beings and humanoids were at fault for the crimes of few against them, that they would think for a moment before choosing what they would like to eat, and it seemed that soon he would receive his answer to such a dilemma, waiting with baited breath, quirking an eyebrow with a bit of concern as he watched the archer snatch the keys from the girl’s hands, quickly freeing the wolves, to begin with, an idea which seemed to pan out rather nicely, if not quite the bit bloodily. Buddy had not problem with death or with watching certain people die, he just wasn’t one for being responsible for such a thing. While he watched the wolves dig in happily to their meals, he wasn’t sure whether he should be sickened by the gruesome sight or rather happy that they did not choose to go for the easier meals and instead lashed out at their enslavers. However, soon came the moment of truth as the hungered bear was freed from its imprisonment. The thief watched it very carefully, the look of worry plain on his face as it glanced to the wolves tearing at the meat of the two bandits. He watched closely and with a changed sort of expression, his mood shifting to that closer to being a scientist, mentally dissecting the situation as he watched the bear charge forth and right past the wolves and their meals and towards the larger group to fight. It was a wondrous sort of sight for one such as Buddy, and he gave a light chuckle as it began to swat at the bandits, too caught up in the entire mess to properly combat against such a ferocious sort of being. “Well, that was truly fun!” Buddy said, pivoting about as he began to wander off towards the trees, figuring he had no reason left to stay in such a hellish place… Though, of course, he had also planned that he might be wrong about such a thing, though of course he was hoping that he was right, he didn’t want to fight against so many bandits… even if they probably were going to win against the animals given their numbers and several pole-arm weapons. |

The girl watched with a mixture of respect and admiration as the archer carefully freed the wolves. The starved creatures snarled at the trio for a moment, but Vivi quickly drew out a small, hand-carved wooden flute. She placed the instrument to her lips and began to play softly, the melody just barely audible over the sounds of the bandits fighting the fires. The wolves stared at her for a moment before the music began to take effect, making the feral creatures less likely to identify her or her companions as prey. They instead dashed off towards the felled bandits, ripping into them instead. The skinsharer felt her stomach lurch at the sight, but she knew that the bandits would have killed her if they had the chance. She continued to play as the archer freed the bear from its imprisonment, her music enforcing its decision to leave the bandit camp for the woods instead of attempting to maim its rescuers. With all of the creatures freed, there was no reason for them to remain in the encampment. She lowered the flute for a moment, swiveling her neck to look at her faithful pets. "Heffy! Hermes!" The creatures immediately responded to the shout, darting towards the girl as fast as they could. Vivi raised the flute once more as she jogged towards the edge of the forest, playing a slightly different tune. Her lifetime of living and surviving in the Norwood forest, as well as her unusual affinity for animals given her unique gifts, had taught the girl how to influence the mind of creatures through her music. The wolves' ears perked up at the sound as she poured herself into the melody, encouraging the gorging creatures to flee the camp before the bandits reorganized and tried to kill them. BArking and snarling the two canines dashed out of the camp, disappearing in the underbrush. Any other animal in the area that heard the song would follow suit, running far enough away from the bandits that they would be safe from any retaliation. As soon as they reached the edge of the forest the girl stopped playing the flute once more, letting the last few notes fade out of hearing. Her green eyes darted back and forth, looking for a good place to hide. Usually the forest was full of tiny nooks and niches for her to avoid the bandits in, but the task was slightly more complicated due to the presence of her companions. "There's a cave a little father west of here... Let's go there." The girl began to run through the trees still limping slightly from her injuries. Still, it was obvious that she was used to traveling through the area, following animals paths and trails so small they barely existed. She had soon led them top the save. It was more of an indentation in the hill than a true cavern, but moss hanging from the rocks overhead obscured the entrance to the hiding spot. She ducked inside, holding the moss back so that Tandorous and Buddy could follow. "Quick... We don't want them to find us. They'll be angry." Edited by Vivianne, Fri Nov 4, 2011 1:46 pm.

Tand nodded at the girl as she showed them to a hidden area, it was perfect, they could wait a few hours in here and then disperse, disappearing like the wind. He followed the girl inside, sitting down as he got ready to heal his wound again, "Healin' winds, heal this painful wound." He felt the calm breeze again, healing his arm, he could feel the power return to it, he could fire the longbow again. He looked to the girl and to buddy, "So, since we're all here, why don't we tell a little bit about ourselves ta' pass tha' time." He waited for a few minutes and nodded, "Alright, I'll go first, as I told ya my name's Tandorus, I'm istani by birth. I was in tha' military for a while, I got pretty high up before I was allowed ta' leave their service. As ya saw I'ma great shot with tha' bow, and I tend ta' think and act at tha' same time, lettin' me make split second decisions.... and tha's about all I can tell ya." Tand nodded, if he told the much else they would know he was immortal, and people who learned that tend to freak out, though a few were accepting about it, but he wouldn't reveal it unless he had to. |

In all honesty, Buddy had no intention whatsoever of regrouping with the other two, he was done with the bandits for now, had just stolen a considerable amount of loot from them, and they had just recently set loose a variety of starving beasts that were no doubt going to go and hunt down some food later on so that they wouldn't keel over. However, it seemed to matter very little to the hands of fate that he dare try to go and dare leave the situation at hand, no, it had to just call him away from his preplanned trail towards a shipyard that could discretely take him to the Pirate's Cove and instead whisked his cat from his shoulder with the call of a flute. While normally Buddy wouldn't mind so much of Zan running from his shoulder, seeing as how the cat always seemed to stay relatively close, he didn't particularly care too much for the fact that his feline friend's mind was being controlled by the musical sway of the woman from earlier. In fact, it rather aggravated him to see his cat running off through the trees, though he quickly chased after, barely managing to keep Zangetsu in sight of his blue eyes. Eventually his path converged once more with the archer and Vivianne, a sigh passing his lips as he followed after Zangetsu who in turn was following after the sound of the music, somehow managing to fight against the sound just enough to trace it back to the source. It seemed that the blonde rogue was to be stuck with these people for a while longer, not something he was too keen on doing since the entirety of the bandit camp seemed to want their heads on platters. Luckily none had actually seen the thief working with them, and he was planning to keep it that way, but as long as Zan was sticking with them, so was he. A two-being democratic system didn't always play out for the betterment of the human party's mental well-being, so Holly thought. He shrugged as he entered past Vivianne, quickly thanking her but following it up with the statement that was so clear and on his mind, "Angry is the least of what they are. If anybody knows the mindset of a bandit, it's gotta be me. They're way beyond angry, that was when the archer started shooting them. They are in a blind fury and probably going to hunt as much as they can for us, I wouldn't be too surprised if they didn't try threatening small woodland critters just to draw us out." He said the words in aggravation, but they were words of truth. Bandits weren't exactly known for it, but they could be rather observant. Had to be if they wanted to set up ambushes and take out caravan guards with minimal amounts of casualties... Actually, most of their casualties and fatalities came from them killing each other to get the better loot from each other... Oh, if they only knew how much Buddy made away with each time. He stopped, taking a deep breath to listen to what the archer had to say, pausing for just a moment. He had kind of figured, by the bright-colored clothing, that his man were desert-born. People from desert societies seemed to favor bright clothing for some odd reason, he had no clue why. He was a pirate, home to more simplistic and intimidating designs, though Buddy's own clothing was much more clearly on the simplistic side. "I'm Buddy Holly, I'm a rogue from a completely different world called Arda. This is Zan, same story, "He motioned to the black bob-tailed cat who lied down upon the dirt ground. "I don't like to kill in the least, but that won't stop me from electrocuting somebody to escape... I also have a bow and some arrows, but I literally couldn't hit a person in a crowd of a hundred." |

The girl watched her companions settle into the small enclosure, letting the covering of moss fall back across the opening. From the outside, this cave was barely visible, and so far as she knew none of the bandits had ever discovered it. She suspected that if one of the outlaws knew about the location they probably would have stowed some of their loot here, but the only tracks she had ever found around the cave belonged to animals. Vivi listened to Buddy's description of how the bandits would react with obvious horror, her face draining of blood and her eyes going wide. However, after he had finished speaking she shook her head vehemently, a trace of anger entering her tone. "No! They won't be able to. Any animal near the bandit camp will keep running away for hours." She drew out her flute once more, holding the small wind instrument on the palm of her hand. It was a completely unremarkable flute, but the skinsharer's affinity for animals transformed it into a powerful tool in her hands. "I made sure that there would be as few repercussions as possible. And if they try to hurt the animals when they return..." There was a flash of anger in her eyes then, and the cheetah at her side growled deep in its throat. "We can probably take care of them." She sat down on a low rock as the archer began to speak, sharing some information about himself in the process. He was apparently from Istan, a country that the secluded girl had only heard rumors about. Apparently it was a desert nation, sand dunes stretching as far as the eye could see and completely devoid of any signs of life. Vivi had also heard about a savanna in the far southern reaches of the land that was home to a variety of unique and wonderful animals, but she had never gotten the opportunity to travel there. Buddy spoke next, detailing his profession as a bandit and his homeland of Arda, a world she had never even heard of. The girl paid more attention to the man's bet, leaning down and staring at the bob-tailed cat. She held one hand out invitingly, making a soft cooing noise in an attempt to entice the feline. If he responded to her invitation the girl planned on petting Zan. "My n-name is Vivianne. I-I-I live in the f-forest." The girl's words were marred by a characteristic stutter, a byproduct of the almost crippling shyness she felt towards most humans. In the adrenaline-fueled escape the speech impediment had almost entirely disappeared, but now that the excitement had faded she felt her tongue grow clumsy. She stroked the cheetah at her side. "This is Her-Hermes, and the d-d-dreadsnout is Hephaestus... B-but he likes t-t-to be called H-Heffy." The boar grunted its assent. It was laying down on the floor, flanks still heaving from the exertion of attacking the bandit's camp and fleeing into the woods. "T-thank you for your help... Both o-o-of you..."[/cvolor] |

Tand smirked, it was an odd set of people, an immortal human, a nature loving forest girl, and an other worldly rogue, he hadn't seen an odder pair of allies in a long time. He chuckled, "I haven't met anyone stranger then you two in years... it's refreshin' ta' hang out with youngsters every once in a while, though sometimes you youngin's can make me feel old." He looked around for a while, trying to find something of interest in the area, he saw nothing of real interest, maybe he should share a story with his new friends? He stroked his chin, yes, perhaps the story about the mana-eaters was appropriate enough. He cleared his throat, "Well lemme tell ya story while we wait for a bit, tha' last time I was in Istan I was asked ta' hunt down some dangerous creatures called Mana-eaters, we had no idea where they came from, only that they jus' started poppin' up one day, tha' creatures had a bug-like bodies and large mandibles drippin' with poison and they feed off of mana... by killin' the person and draining it from their bodies. So I tracked tha' beasts for a few days, I met a lovely Istan woman, tha' information about her and her name are classified though. So she helped me track them across the desert to a salt flat, in the center was a huge sink hole, in it though... were hundreds of tha' creatures. I had the unfortunate luck ta' fall through a man sized hole, slid down to tha' bottom." He stopped to see if they were paying attention before continuing, "Turns out when I hit tha' bottom, tha' mana-eater queen rose from tha' sands, now she looked like any other mana-eater... but tha' size of a horse and with a female upper half stickin' our of tha' top of her carapace, turns out she was created by some kinda dark magic, made those little creatures to. It was a long and hard battle, I barely got out by tha' skin of my teeth, tha' Istani army swept up tha' matter though, killed as many mana-eaters as possible." He stopped, his story was over... but the best parts had to be cut out thanks to national secrets and what not, but he felt he had gotten the gist across, he stroked his chin though, a question forming on his lips, "So, either of you have any exciting adventures?" He waited for his new friends to answer. |

Buddy let a sigh pass his lips as he scratched the back of his head, through his blonde hair, and sat himself down upon the ground next to an inner wall of the small cave. Though it was more of a plopping, he didn't really seem to care, instead listening to the round of introductions. Tandorus, who claimed to be Istani, essentially a desert-person as Buddy had thought. The bright clothing gave it away in Buddy's opinion, though at the time it was little more than a theory based on tales and images from books of Istan. Buddy had never been, he didn't really have any intention to go, either, since he was much more an open seas and ocean breeze kind of person rather than desert heat and hot grains of sand. Of course, it would be inevitable that he one day might visit the nation, just most likely not any time soon. Once more, he wasn't a fan of the heat. And why was he revisiting the thought of the man's introduction? Because he had forgotten about all of the pirate captains that liked to flaunt their wealth with their bright, expensive and shiny things, most of which were generally stolen. The woman, Vivianne, a forest-dweller. It made a sort of sense as to just how she had gotten caught by the bandits. They probably stumbled across each other and she lost in the encounter, though for a woman as attractive as her perhaps she was lucky to simply be seen as food for the beasts in the arena. If only the bandits had seen the possibilities of sheer chance lining up in her and the animals' favor. Now the bandit camp was a mess, many things stolen, by Buddy of course, and they were stuck hunting for the impromptu trio through the forest, of which none of the bandits truly knew well enough to be able to efficiently track them. Buddy simply knew the forest because he had gotten lost in it so many times and could so easily recall the differant paths to take, though even he didn't know about this little hidey-hole, which surely proved that Vivianne knew a deal greater than Buddy did, it was her home, after all. Though she seemed a bit too enthusiastic about their chances against the small army of bandits, even with the Dreadsnout. Tandorus' story was interesting, to say the least. Of the creatures called Mana-Eaters, though even Buddy could tell that he was leaving some details out. A story like that could very well go on for quite a while, yet the Istani brought it to be rather short. Of course, the rogue made no comment of this, going silent when the man asked to both of his companions of what stories they may have. A sigh came pass Buddy's lips as he shrugged. "All I've got is some old stories I was told as a kid and the story of how I managed to escape a world that was falling apart." The words passed his lips in an offset tone, clearly he was upset by the thought, but there was no real reason to keep any of those a secret. |

Vivi did not seem to be paying much attentions to the stories the men were telling, instead ministering to the injuries of her pets. She had just noticed that Hermes had an arrowhead stuck in his shoulder, blood from the injury caking the fur around the wound. She hissed in dismay and picked up a jagged stone from the ground, carefully using the rock to pry the metal tip out of the cheetah's muscle. The cat growled in pain as she drew the arrowhead out, but almost immediately dropped to the ground in relief when she had removed the foreign object. The girl reached into her pouch, taking out a small ball of herbs that she had made herself from the fauna of the forest. The skinsharer had combined them to create a small snack that not only gave her animal companions more injury, but also significantly augmented their recuperative abilities. The cheetah gobbled up the snack happily, having tasted the rare delicacy before. It purred happily as the wound on its shoulder started to grow back together, soon leaving nothing more than a small, bare patch in its fur. Even the hair would regrow at a quicker pace, completely eliminating any trace of the injury. The girl looked up at her two erstwhile rescuers after the thief had stopped speaking, twisting her hands together at the awkward silence. She was grateful for their assistance, but now that she was free of the bandit's encmapment she wanted nothing more to do with humans for a long, long time. The girl shot to her feet, shaking her head vehemently. "I-I can't! Thank y-y-you for your h-help, but I-I must be g-g-going." She knew that it was dangerous to leave the small hideaway with the outlaws still scouring the woods, but she wanted to get back to her own hut anyway to wash herself, bind her injuries, and change into clothes that weren't bloodstained. "If you ev-ever need help i-in t-t-the forest, l-look for me." With that enigmatic statement she lifted up the sheet of moss, dashing out with her animal companions in close pursuit. Once she was outside of the cave the girl deftly leapt onto the dreadsnout's back, clenching her hands to fists in his bristly hair. "Home, Hephaestus!" The boar grunted in understanding and began to trot in the proper direction, barely seeming to notice the weight of the girl on its back. Vivi pressed her face against the animal's back as it trundled through the woods, glad to be out of the bandit camp and back in her natural environment. She would have to be more careful in her fight against the outlaws in the future to avoid getting captured again. The girl and her small pack ran through the forest quickly, heading for home.
