Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Calling the makeshift fighting pit an arena would be an insult to any true coliseum across the realm. The walls were made out of planks of wood firmly nailed into posts set in a rough circle. The other side of the wooden boards had been lined with metal sheets in order to make it more difficult to escape from the interior. The walls stretched sixteen feet high, the tops lined with shards of glass and metal spikes to make escape from the interior almost impossible. The only gap in the walls was a heavy metal plate that was raised by chains and pulleys from the exterior. Bleachers had been constructed around the upper level so that spectators could witness the battle within. The characters seated around the edges of the arena were wearing mismatched sets of armor, boiled leather and rusty chainmail combined with steel plate and beast scales. The only consistent trait among the men and women was that they were all armed and seemed very comfortable with the weapons they owened.

I should have known better to come back here…

Vivianne glared at the bandits seated around the edge of the pit, trying to ignore their derisive and provocative shouts. Her clothes were tattered and muddy, ripped in so many places it was barely staying on her body. There was evidence that she had been treated as poorly as her garments, with bruises lining her flesh and blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. One eyes was puffy, so swollen she could barely see out of it. One arm was hanging limply, obviously not properly aligned in its socket.

”Come one, come all… to see the little girl who thought she could free our dogs…” The girl stared up at the man who had spoken, an outlaw with a patch over one eye and a thick scar leading from underneath the dark fabric. He sneered at the girl, nimbly flipping a dagger in his right hand. ”We usually use this space for animals fights, girl… But your efforts have earned you this honor.” Vivi did not respond, looking away from the man and staring around the confined arena. She could see no way to get out except for the thick door… and she doubted she would be able to escape via that route once it opened.

Vivi stared at the door as it began to scrape open, the pulleys squealing in protest as it was drawn upwards. She pressed herself against the wall as far away from the portal as possible. On the other side she could see nothing except for a darkness… which all too quickly took the shape of a snarling form. The warg’s teeth were yellow and sharp, salive dripping from is open jaw to splash on the packed dirt floor. Its hair was as black as night and spiky, although not as full as it should have been. Even from here the girl could tell that the animal had been poorly treated. They had probably starved it to make it more vicious and cruel in their pit fights, and she could see scars across its back and sides from where other animals had tried to kill it.

Not good… Vivi tried to look as unimposing as possible, trying not to appear threatening. Perhaps she could find a way out of this situation…

Tand looked on from the treeline as he saw the bandits gathered around something... what could it be...? He nodded to the raven on his shoulder, Nevermore, who immediately takes flight, flying over them and coming back to Tandorus taking a more roundabout course, it squawked, luckily the jeering of the bandits were much to loud to here the little bird. Tand looked at Nevermore who spoke clearly, "Girl in a pit fightin' a worg! Waugh! Sqauwwwwk!" Nevermore then quickly bit Tand's fingers and took flight, Tand chuckled, such an out of control bird he had... but at least it could talk a lot better now. Drew his bow, not the old shortbow he had been using for a few hundred years, but the bow he used back in his days in the military, Tha' Black Bowman's Black Bow. He put a single arrow on it, the arrow turning into glass as he took aim, waiting for one of the men to lean forward, jeering at the girl most likely, his arrow singing forth, slamming into the small of the man's back, shattering as it sends him over the ledge. He didn't know if they would notice his flashing arrows, but he hoped these guys were just as dumb as every other bandit.

He saw two of them turn, looking for whatever pushed their ally into the pit, he fired twice in rapid succession, his arrows streaking out and slamming into the hearts of the two looking around. They crumpled, though he didn't look to see if they fell into the pit, he picked a new target as the others started to scream, some of them noticing Tand's pink coat mixing among the green of the trees. Tand smirked and fired again, taking out another bandit, he just needed to keep on fighting, keep on killing, and save the girl. He cried out, "I'm Tandorus Elderson! Come to save tha' beautiful girl from tha' evils of tha' blasted bandits! Hoowa!" Now his foes started to close in, far to close for safety, he stopped the commands for the bow to turn his arrows into glass, instead he let the arrows glow as he dodged around the trees, firing his arrows through them and injuring his foes as he ran, it was his game now. He kept up the brisk pace, dodging around the trees and bushes, trying to keep them guessing where he was going next.

Dragged... With all honesty, that's what it was! Buddy wasn't a big fan... Actually, not a fan at all, really... of watching to beasts that were starved and made ornery as possible try to kill each other, try to eat each other just to survive until the next fight. It was an unnecarrily cruel thing, particularly sinc ehe knew what the beasts were fed when they began to go too long without fighting. They were fed whatever the bandits could catch and toss into their small cages. Squirrels, fawns, cats, there wasn't a single creature that was actually safe fromt he rather insane sport of watching two nearly dead animals kill each other. In fact, the only time that buddy could ever think that he might ever actually enjoy such a case like that is he were running from his life from a hungry bear and then a hungry crocodile just happened to come and start fighting with it, rather than chasing after the rogue. That was the only situation he could ever think that it might actually be a good thing, but these bastard were diong it on purpose, and he had the ill fortune to have befriended some of the bandits who found this to be something acceptable, rather than just going ahead and jumping into the pit with the beasts, themselves.

They had gotten good seats in the bleachers, right there on the edge to see as much as they possibly could. There wasn't a single piece of dirt or bloodstain that couldn't be seen, and there wasn't even very much in the way of seperation from the bleachers and the walls to begin with, the arena was as much a deathtrap to the spectators as it was to the creatures that they made fight. A sigh passed by the blonde-haired thief's lips as he leaned back, his qutie larger friends leaning forward and cheering. Buddy had no clue what was in the pit, he figured it was just some dog-things that they had found and made as vicious as opssible... Of course, then he heard what was thrown in the pit with the dog... A girl who wanted to free the poor beasts... The first thought that came to the rogue's mind was surprise... And then a sort of compassionate logic and reasoning, that it would have been better for the creatures to just have been killed. With how starved they were kept, they wouldn't be able to effectively hunt out in the wild, and the bandits would have either just killed or recaptured them, anyway... However, the thief could actually understand why the girl might have done it.

Attention was broken from the scene in the battle pit as a call rang out amongst the spectating bandits, several having been killed off, and not even by the accursed walls. One body fell into the pit, a potential easy meal for the dog and probably preferrable to it. Good for the girl, but not good for the bandits that were killed. Two more were dead without falling into the pit.

Buddy stood up in surprise, trying to find out where the arrows had come from so that he could make sure that he wasn't getting hit, so that he could just go ahead and take cover behind the bleachers or use some over-muscled thug-of-a-bandit as a meat-shielf. Unfortunately, however, these plans were all for not as his supposed friends stood up with a good deal of the other bandits, (seeing the bretheren killed and the pink figure in the surprisingly tall trees that could actually manage to see into the pit, being that it was so close to the bandits camp, itself) and was accidentally shoved over the wall, somehow being lucky enough to miss catching himself on the preventetive methods to keep the animals ni the pit and instead just falling to the gronud inside, knocking the wind straight out of him, bt not leaving him unconcious.

A moment passed as he could sit up, supporting himself on his right elbow as he coughed some.

"This is why I like pirates, better... At least if they shove you over something, its generally to make sure you suffer as little as possible... Except for when they're feeding the sharks." He grumbled to himself in his otherwise odd accent.

The warg started to advance on the girl, its slavering jaws snapping open and closed as it stalked towards her. Vivi swallowed nervously and began to hum under her breath. The bandits had taken away her flute, making her ability to calm and fascinate animals much weaker, but perhaps she could still sway it enough to stop it from eating her. The beast stopped moving as she continued to hum, her green eyes locked with its red pupils. The girl swayed back and forth as the hummed, the warg following her movements with its neck without advancing further. The bandits began to shout in anticipation and urge the huge wolf onwards, but the girl's movements seemed to be calming the animal. At least, it was until the man who had spoken grabbed a bottle from one of his companions and threw it at the animal's rump. It yelped in pain and surprise as the glass shattered on its skin, sending sharp shards digging into its skin. When the warg looked back at the girl she knew she had lost her tentative hold over its mind; the wolf was snarling again, and there was a mindless rage in its eyes.

The skinsharer was so distracted by the beast that she didn't immediately notice the outcry from above when one of the bandits was struck with an arrow. The man gurgled and collapsed into the pit right as the warg crouched down in order to strike. Vivi and the animal both looked towards the man in surprise. The girl recovered first, beginning to hum again. Instead of trying to dissuade the animal entirely she simply redirected its focus towards the stricken bandit instead of herself. With a savage growl it leapt onto the fallen bandit, sharp teeth ripping his neck open in a spray of crimson blood. The girl felt her stomach clench as the thick smell of spilt blood filled the arena, but she knew this was not the time to be sickened by gore. The girl rushed to the fallen man, bending over his body as the wolf eagerly tore into his flesh. She clumsily drew the shortsword from the man's belt, inexpertly holding it in both hands and staring up at the bleachers. The men and women there were scattering in response to some unseen threat.

Vivi shook her head wildly as she backed away from the gorging warg. She would have time to wonder about the source of the distraction later... for now she needed to focus on getting out of here. The girl craned her neck back to see the familiar shape of her peregrine falcon soaring in circles high above the camp. If her avian companion was here, that meant... "Hephaestus!" The girl's shout echoed through the makeshift pit, and from the forest there was an answering roar. A dreadsnout barreled through the trees, its flanks covered in a thick layer of bristly black hairs. The boar was easily twice the size of its common cousins, every inch of its form rippling with thick muscles. Its tusks appeared to be its most dangerous weapon until the nightmare pig exhaled heavily through its snout, sending a gout of flame rushing towards the nearest bandit. He screamed and dropped his weapons as his clothes caught fire, desperately batting at them in a futile attempt to put them out Behind the dreadsnout a blur of golden fur streaked out of the woods. The cheetah snarled at the men and women as he dashed around them, searching for an opening to sprint in and rip them open with his teeth and claws.

Vivi smiled inside the arena, still clutching the shortsword in both hands. Her pack was coming for her... And they would have no mercy on any enemies that got in their way.

Tand smirked, animals must hate these bandits, not only a boar with nostrils that gave off smoke but also a cheetah, both were killing bandits, this was perfect. He looked back at the only two left pursuing him, shooting two arrows rapidly and killing them with ease, he quickly ran towards the pit, finding the chains meant to open the door, he quickly pulled on them, slowly raising the gate, this was obviously supposed to be a two man job, but he strained his muscles to raise it, he looked down at the girl, "Hurry up! Get outta there before tha' worg decides ta' nab ya!" He held the door open, waiting for the girl to come out until he felt the sharp pain of an axe, burying itself in his shoulder, he collapsed onto the ground, shouting in pain, holding the axe wounded shoulder, it was a deep wound, one he would need to heal as soon as he could.

He turned around to see the man, the man he had seen standing above the bandits and shouting out. Tand shivered, he was on the ground, bleeding, and had no weapon out, at this rate he was surely doomed. He saw the man laugh as he lifted his axe, going for an over the top double handed sweep straight down, Tand smirked just as the man swung, rolling to the side and springing up, grabbing the man's arm and helping him vault into the pit. He looked back down and shouted out, "One second miss! I'll get ya outta there!" He once again started to pull on the chains, but his own muscle wouldn't be enough, his wounded shoulder made it impossible to open it by himself now. He looked around, hoping to find something, anything that could help him with this task.

A sigh passed by the blonde thief's lips as he looked up to the sky for a moment, his blue eyes catching the sight of a bird overhead, almost like it was mocking him. Yes, he had fallen into a pit with no clear way out from the inside while the bandit camp was apparently getting attacked by a man wielding bow and arrows while wearing a pink coat... It honestly wasn't the worst thing that had happened to him, not even since he had arrived to this world called Chaon, but that didn't do anything to aid in diluting the fact that it was still, all-in-all, a rather bad situation. And for all of his intellect, he was having trouble figuring out any way that he was going to be able to get out of the pit, ocnsidering the only enterance seemed to be closed and was only capable of being opened from the outside... Good gods, did Buddy want to go back to sailing on the seas, there seemed to be a lot less pain when on a boat on the open waters, especially considering how bad of an idea it seemed to be a bandit at this time.

Slowly he picked himself up, groaning frmo pain but not letting it stop him. It hurt like hell, probably a cracked or broken rib, though otherwise he could still breath rather well, it seemed like he was going to be okay. It took him about a minute to stand up, hunched a bit from the pain, trying to conserve as much energy as he possibly could while looking around the inside of the pit, trying to see if there was any way out besides the gate, but everything seemed to have those sharp metal spikes to keep from a full escape... And then, of cuorse, his blue eyes just had to settle on the sight of a dead man being viciously eaten by the poor warg, a good sense of karma, but it wasn't exactly giving Buddy much hope in this situation, more-of it was giving him this sudden sense of utter dread and the feeling that now he had to race against time and figure a way out before the dog finished the corpse and decided it was still hungry for meat.. And just because Buddy didn't have much meat on him didn't mean that he couldn't still be a good light snack for the hungry creature.

The rogue did the best he could to ignore the sounds of screaming and fighting, along with what sounded like some animals being rather a good deal angry at the bandits. Some sort of pig and what he could only guess to be a large cat of some sort. If the timing hadn't been so perfect with everything else, he would have believed it to only be a worsening situation, hungry animal inside and hungry animals outside. Though, Buddy's mind worked better than that, faster. The animals were probably there to help save the girl.

Another sigh went by the rogue's lips as he looked to his fellow human prisoner, calling out to her while keeping a safe distance. While he wanted to get out of here and help her get out, he was still a bandit, and she was holding a sword from the dead man's body, "So, do you suppose we escape?"

Sorry Buddy, I completely missed the part of your post when you fell in the pit last time... Er... I'll just act like you were on the opposite side so Vivi didn't notice you immediately.

The girl gasped as she turned to see that another man had fallen into the pit. Unlike the first bandit, this one did not appear to be dead, a fact that was proved when he groaned and raised himself to his knees. She bit her lip nervously and tightened her grip on the sword. To be honest, the though of running anyone through with the weapon (even a robber) almost made her physically sick. Still, if her only options were kill an outlaw or remain their prisoner she supposed she would have to swallow her nausea and do the deed. Vivi slowly walked towards the man, waving the sword in front of her like it was a stick. Her arms were already tired from carrying the weapon but she didn't know what else to do with it. It was her only defense at the moment. However, when she got nearer the bandit did not immediately attempt to apprehend her, but instead asked if she was ready to escape.

"I... um... Well..." The girl's cheeks flushed with embarrassment and confusion as she watched the man warily, clearly trying to decide if she could trust him or not. Maybe he had simply seen that she was armed and was trying to avoid being skewered? Before the skinsharer could decide what to do with the outlaw she heard another shout from the opposite side of the pit. A man was yelling at her to escape while she could, and she saw that someone on the outside had managed to crank the door out of the pit open. Before she could sprint for the exit there was a pained grunt from outside and the iron gate slammed shut again. She swiveled her head back and forth, staring at the outlaw inside the makeshift arena first and the iron door. The warg was still gnawing on the corpse's tender flesh, but she had a feeling that wouldn't last forever.

The skinsharer turned her attention back to the man in the pit with her, still holding the tip of the shortsword pointing in his direction. She obviously decided to not worry about the enemies outside while there was still a foe inside the arena. "Y-you're one of t-t-them! Why s-should I t-t-t-trust you?" Her stammer was noticeably more pronounced than normal, a combination of fear and suspicion rendering her words almost unintelligible.

Outside the arena the cheetah sprung on one of the bandits, sinking his teeth into the woman's soft jugular and ripping it open. The cat did not stop to feast on the body, instead leaping off of the corpse and sprinting towards another group of outlaws with its paws and jaws streaked with red. The dreadsnout's path through the camp was littered with bodies as well, the vast majority of them stricken with burns before they could get within reach of the rampaging animal. One man had succeeded and had almost immediately been ripped upen from navel to collar by the boar's sharp tusks, leaving his entrails spread across the ground.

Still, there seemed to be no end to the bandits. More men were spilling out of the hovels and half-built buildings spread across the camp. Hephaestus snorted and rushed towards the pit where it could sense its master was being contained. Before the dreadsnout could crash into the walls it saw a man near the gate struggling to raise the doorway. The boar snorted again and lumbered over to the man, squealing at him and throwing his head in the air. The beast stilled, proffering one tusk for the man to loop the chain around. If he understood the animal's meaning it would charge away, lifting the door with its massive bulk and speed.

Tand looked down when he heard the snorting, for a second he feared the boar would skewer him or slice him open with his sharp tusks... but instead it seemed to offer it's tusk, like it knew exactly what he was doing. Well that wasn't to far fetched, he and Nevermore understood each other without speaking sometimes, why not a boar and whoever was it's master. He quickly rigged the chain to the tusk, watching the boar dash away, easily pulling up the metal door. Tand looked down to make sure he little girl got out, though what made his eyes grow a bit was one of the bandits was following her, that wasn't good, he quickly brought forth what magic he knew, "Heal my wounds, Healin' Wind!" He felt the surge of wind wrap around his wound, stitching it and knitting it together, just barely enough that he could pull a bowstring again.

He went over to the boar, taking the chain from it's tusk, "Good goin' tha' little lady is free, but she's got someone with 'er. I dunno if ya understand me or not, but I'm gonna go make sure she doesn't get hurt by her follower." He quickly takes out his shortbow, it was easier to pullback then his longbow and would allow him to fire his arrows more effectively then the longbow with his hurt shoulder. He made his way to the opening, putting an arrow on bowstring, pulling it back and aiming at the man's face, "I suggest ya give me a real good reason not ta' put this arrow between yer eyes. If yer a friend I won't hurt ya, if yer an enemy, I won't hesitate ta' strike ya down, but if you're neither, then please don't try to stop us. As for you little girl, get runnin' I'll catch up in a minute." He motioned for the girl to get running, hoping she could escape while the last few bandits were dealing with the animals.

Buddy lifted a finger in response to this questioning, pausing for just a moment as he did so. It was actually a good point, after all his life choice didn't exactly prove to make anybody really trust him unless they were either lackadaisy about everything or just so freakishly overpowered by the rules of average taking into account all of the people of the world. To come across somebody that was actually in such a perdicament that they would have to worry about something like him not particularly telling the truth while at the same time apparently not being so powerful as to crush him like a fly, it actually proved him with an actually interesting sort of situation, the first one that he had happened to come across since his arrival to the world of Chaon, and more specifically to this off-beaten Bandit Camp that seemed to change with the beginning and ending to each and every week. And did the constant changing ever play hell on Buddy's memory of the pathing of the bandit camp, along with their intents and such, it seemed to almost always be a completely new caste to the camp each and every time, a sad thought that there would be so many people so quick and willing to steal and threaten and the such just for money. This of course brought the thought that Buddy didn't particularly like this day's caste of bandits, and as a result had no real reason or intention to go about helping them, let alone even bother to try lying for them, not that he was any good at lying to begin with.

"Ya know, that is actually a very good point." He agreed, letting his finger down as he let a sigh pass by his lips, bringing his hand to hold the side of his ribs as he tried to stand up as straight as he opssibly could, not a pleasant thing by any stretch of the imagination, so clearly indicated by the seething that came from the blonde bandit's mouth as he thought over any way he could possibly convince her that he was on her side... or more of the side of not getting killed while at the same time not needing to kill anybody. He was a thief, not a killer! And at least on pirate ships he could convince the captains that the best course of action would be to let the crew and passengers of the raided ship live while at the same taking all of their stuff. All of the riches, none of the blood!

"How about the facts that I am injured, possibly with broken bones, I could not lie even if it was the only way to save my life and I personally loathe the sport this arena belongs to with a passion. There's nothing positive about starving animals fighting each other, if it were two bandits fighting over a piece of gold I would be a lot more interested, at least they'd be well-fed." Buddy just let the words pass by his lips on instinct, figuring it was the best way of any possible way to gain her trust and to have her lower the sword from him. He didn't like to be at the pointy end of sharp things, this time was no differant. He had no reason to harm this woman, he had not want to harm this woman and it was very possible that she was the only way he had out of this pit... now if only they could figure out how before the worg or warg or whatever it was finished its meal of raw bandit.

Apparently that was quickly of no concern as once more the gate began to open at what seemed to be a rather steady pace. Apaprently somebody had thought of their escape for them, a rather convenient thing. And Buddy almost immediately recognized that pink coat, it was the one that the man who was shooting the bandits was wearing! Which of course Buddy could already figure for something that would turn out bad, quickly bringing up his bag and rummaging through it before he brought out a bow, the glowed beautiful and white as the moon with its long frame, and with a quick incantation the aroow began to crackle with electricity as Buddy knocked it to the bow, pulling back on the strnig and looking like he had any real clue of how to use the bow... He really needed to spend more time trying to learn how to shoot it, rather than just looking like he knew how.

"Because if you shoot me, my hold on my string will loosen and it will... surely hit and electrocute you!" Though in all honesty there was a far greater chance of the arrow flipping around and stabbing Buddy in the shoulder. A very good reason for him to hope... no, to pray that the man with the pink coat and clearly deadly aim would not even try to shoot Buddy, though at the same time the thief still had his bag of neverending space hanging frmo his arm, and his blue eyes watching closely to the hand of the pink-coated man in case he actually chose to let the arrow fly into Buddy's body.

-----------------------------------------

Somewhere else within the bandit camp, a black bobtailed cat by the name of Zangetsu was stirred from his sleep by the sound of all the commotion and the seemingly endless amount of bandits that poured from their homes. He lie upon the top of a stack of crates, able to see what was going on, the large cat, the boar, all of the bandits dying and among them, not a single sign of Buddy, not even in the piles of corpses, no blonde short hair. With a thought passing through the cat's mind, it hopped to all fours and down from its resting spot on its crate. Being the only other known survivor of Chaon, it wanted to make sure that it wasn't going to be the last, even though it had no idea where Buddy was... Zangetsu decided to start by looking in the tent where the blonde rogue was staying.

The girl faltered, not entirely sure what to do in this situation. She man in front of her was clearly one of the bandits, but he did not appear to wish her any harm. He did not even seem to have a weapon on his person, just an odd looking bag hanging from one arm. She was not so ruthless that she would slay a man simply for being an outlaw, especially if he did not plan on harming her. Vivi began to walk backwards from the man, shaking her head back and forth so that her spiky hair whirred around her face. "I... I won't h-hurt you, but p-p-please leave me al-alone. You d-d-did nothing to help me before." She continued to back away from the man, lowering the tip of the weapon so that it scraped along the dirt floor of the pit instead of actually holding it up.

Vivi jerked her head around when she heard the pulley spinning with a rusty screech. She watched as the thick slab of iron was quickly pulled upwards. For a moment she thought that there must be multiple rescuers in order to justify how quickly it was being opened, but the true reason behind her rescuer's strength was soon revealed. Instead of any sort of human her loyal pet Hephaestus was actually dragging the door open. She smiled at the sight of the dreadsnout, but there was no way that her animal companion had fired the arrow that killed the bandit the warg was currently gnawing on. The culprit beind that murder was proven to be a man wearing an odd assortment of garments. His clothes did not blend in with the environment at all, a combination of black and pink that was almost garish.

The stranger pulled out a strange black bow, pulling the string back and aiming into the arena. For a moment she feared that he intended to execute her, but his aim was directed at the bandit instead. He shouted a warning to the bandit, and Vivi felt a surge of relief that his ire was not aimed in her direction. THe girl gratefully dropped the shortsword and limped out of the open door, careful to not get between the man in pink and his target. Looking out the camp she saw that it was in a state of disarray. Although Hephaestus was still occupied keeping the gate into the fighting pit open, Hermes was still dashing around the camp wreaking havoc.

The girl glanced around, searching for the quickest avenue of escape. One of the bandits had drawn and wound up a crossbow and was leveling the weapon towards her savior. However, before Vivi could shout a warning there was a keening shriek from above as the circling bird folded its wings and dove towards the ground. The peregrine falcon raked its talons across the bandit's face, leaving three jagged gashes across his face as it tore through the flesh and muscle. The crossbow bolt whizzed off in a random direction as the bandit fell to the ground, Artemis winging her way back into the sky with blood dripping from her talons.

Vivi looked back at the confrontation behind her, biting her lip nervously. "W-w-we need to leave b-before they get organized! P-p-please!" She sounded on the verge of tears from a combination of pain, exhaustion, and fear. At the moment she didn't care if another bandit was killed, she just wanted to get out of the camp and into the forest.

Tand looked at the man threatening him with a bow of all things... the way he held it would make the bow string scrape along his arm, causing him to flinch and cause the arrow to go wild... it could hit anyone. Tand sighed let up on the power of his bow, slowly relaxing and putting the arrow back in his quiver, he looked to the bandit, "Alright, ya've never fired a bow have ya? Bend tha' arm out a bit so tha' string doesn't scrape along it, steady grip and stop tryin' ta' correct yourself! Archery is meant fer killin' just point an' shoot, trust yer instincts." What was he doing... giving a bandit advice on killing someone with a bow... well eight hundred years of living would make anyone go a bit insane. He turned back to the young woman, nodding to her, "Alright, we can get movin', we can get introductions once we're out of here... yer leg is hurt isn't it?" He frowned, he wasn't a chivalrous man, but he loved helping women, and right now with that limp she would need all the help she could get.

He turned around to see where the least amount of bandits are, he nodded, the southern area had few bandits in it and that boar was still going at bandits in the area, that was the safest bet. He quickly put his bow inside his quiver on his side, turning the position of the Black Bow on his back so the young girl wouldn't lean into it at an odd angle. He crouched and turned his back to her, looking back at the same time, "Come on, get on. We gotta start runnin' and it'll be faster if I do tha' runnin', come on now we don't really have much time ta' argue before more bandits from nearby areas come in and try ta' clean up this little battle." He waited for the girl to climb on, once she was on he would start running, they needed to be fast.

What perhaps went completely unnoticed was the very fact that Buddy ahd been holding his breath as much as he had been holding the bowstring. And to be so blatantly called out by the man in the pink coat about his poor style to holding the bow and arrow and the very fact that he had never fired an arrow before! That was completely wrong!

...

Buddy had fired an arrow once from his bow... It completely missed his target all-together and had actually bounced off the wall of an alley. The only good thing that particularly came from that experience was that it distracted the crazy cultists that wanted to kill him long enough for him to make his hasty escape. However, with the man in pink putting his own black bow down, so too did Buddy lower his glowing white bow, finally releasing his breath with a slight groan attached from the aching in his ribs from standing up straight and stiff like that. It was a true relief not to be staring at the arrow loaded by the master marksman to his bow, especially considernig that the extent of the thief's plan was to pray to any god that would dare to hear his plea that he would be quick enough to let his own bow and arrow go in time to bring his bag of neverending space to catch the obviousley veteran elven archer's arrow before it stuck through his body... Though most likely the plan wouldn't have worked, anyway.

With the threat of death by arrow gone frmo Buddy's mind, it was (excluding the pain in his ribs) nice and clear. He could think once mroe, which meant he could plan exactly how to get out of this entire mess! The blonde bandit made his way at a smoewhat leisurely pace towards the open gate, looking around and listening to the elf's words to the girl... Though once Buddy was next to them, he stopped for a moment, a thought flashing quickly through his mind.

"Well, now... We can't leave just yet! She's already gotten in this much trouble for a goal, may as well make sure that goal's met before runnin' off into the woods!" Buddy said with a slight chuckle, followed by yet another groan of pain and a slight muttering of profanity as he looked to the direction opposite of where the arena was faced, "I heard from some of the other bandits that they bring the animals through the camp to get them riled up. Which very well could mean that the cages for them are that way..." He pointed towards what seemed to be a small village of tents and shoddy wooden structures, built well enough to keep the rain out but looking like they couldn't do much else, "The cages could be opened real quick, the beasts released. If all goes right, they should go on a feeding frenzy and start attacking all of the bandits, giving us a good time to get out before they're finished with the bandits and decide they want dessert!"

The blonde thief paused for yet another moment more, a slight smile to the girl. "I hope this makes up for not helping you out with the arena thing, though I honestly didn't know about that... Also, my name's Buddy Holly, a pleasure to meet you both."

Vivi whistled shrilly, stopping in place. The cheetah perked up immediately, looking towards the girl. In a flash the feline darted towards the girl, obviously excited to be seeing its master once more. The skinsharer smiled warmly at the cat and began to scratch behind its ears, but she knew it wasn't the time for a lengthy reunion. There seemed to be more bandits every instant and she had no idea which direction to escape in. For the moment they were in a state of disarray, completely unaware of where they were being attacked from. Perhaps the confusion caused by the dreadsnout's flames would work in their favor today.

When the archer behind her commanded the girl to escape Vivi still faltered. She still did not know the best direction to flee, but the bandit who had fallen in the pit caught her attention quickly. He mentioned that they should complete her original goal and free the animals that were still enslaved in this squalid bandit's camp. The girl's self-preservation instincts were at war with her desire to free the animals from their cruel conditions. Even though she wanted to flee the girl knew that she would never forgive herself if she didn't free all of the animals before making sure she was safe herself.

"He-he's right... I h-h-have to free all t-the p-p-poor animals!" Vivi looked apologetically towards the man in pink, but her eyes were determined. Hephaestus ran back to the girl, the dreadsnout breathing heavily as it nuzzled the girl, but she clucked her tongue so that the boar wouldn't knock her over. "My l-leg hurts b-b-but I can still m-move on it... We n-need to free the an-animals!" She looked like she was about to collapse, but there was still a steely determination in her eyes as she looked towards her two saviors. The fierce animals stood on either side of her, their furs matted with blood.

"I'm Viviane... We h-have to h-h-hurry!" She walked back to the opening of the fighting pit, her face screwed up in pain. Vivi's face was determined, even though her wounds were obviously troubling her. The skinsharer knew that it was dangerous to try and free the animals that the bandits had captured and abused, but there was no choice. If she didn't strike the cages open and let the captured creatures go all of her pain would have been for naught.

Tand scratched his head and sighed, standing up straight. He looked towards the area they mentioned where the animals would probably be kept, he nodded, "Alright, fine, we break a few locks and then we run, I can promise ya this though that these animals will be thankful we released them... but they are animals, they might just try ta' eat us if they've been starved like that worg." It was simply the fact of life, if it came down to it he would simply put an arrow between to their eyes and apologize to the animal loving lady. He took out his bow again, putting an arrow on the string, pulling it back slightly so he could easily shoot it off quickly if he had to.

He quickly ran across the camp, his feet slapping against the ground as he ran, trying his best to dodge puddles of blood. He noticed a few bandits still alive, though bloodied and tired, they ran into the forest, probably to get reinforcements, they would have to free the animals and use them as a distraction when the bandits come... yes, the animals would bite the hands that tortured them, it was perfect.

As they neared an area with cages stacked up on each other Tand slowed down, watching a rather large man holding a ring of keys in his hand walked out, looking down at him. He raised a single meaty fist and punched Tand in the stomach, sending him to his knees, the wind rushing out of his lungs along with a little bit of vomit to. He was lucky that he hadn't dropped his bow and arrow, quickly pulling it back and firing it into his leg, trying to catch his breath before continuing on, he hoped his allies would help him take care of his little half-giant problem.

Well, at least if there was one thing that Buddy could do rather all-right it was something good. He might have been a rogue, but he wasn't a monster, and he was mroe than happy to do anything he could towards pushing the bandit camp into its next weekly shift to a group perhaps a bit nicer, more for ransoms than animal-fighting. Hell, he would be perfectly happy if the new bandits had attack animals as long as they were well-kept. Perhaps it was a bit of sentimentalism that struck the blonde thief's chord which unsettled him so given the fact that he, himself, had a trusted companion in his black bobtailed cat. There probably wasn't a soul on Chaon that he trusted more than Zan, the only other survivor he knew of that came from that now-dead world of Arda.

Without much of a second thought, Buddy began off in the direction of the cages, lingering behind the other two for just a moment before pausing, looking around at the otherwise unattended tents that he knew had scattered treasures within them... How could he let an oppertunity like this pass up, after all? Despite good intention, he was still a thief at heart, a plunderer in this case as he took advantage of the chaos to start in thruogh the tents, picking out a few that belonged to people he had heard boasting and making sure that his bag was nice and open and ready to store all of the riches which awaited him.

For his speed it only took but a moment to go thruogh each of the tents, umping small chests of jewelry and sacks of golden coins and trinkets into his bag, all of the items being so easily stored before he made his way back out, double-checking to make sure that nobody was going to catch and skin him alive for his obvious crimes against these rather boorish bandits. Though, for a moment as he gazed intothe eyes of a familiar sight, he paused...

"C'mon, we're leaving!" He chuckled to hit cat as the black bobtailed animal quickly lept up and onto his shoulder with ease as he had begun to return his way to the cages, marking out the path of the tents by memory. A task that proved easy for him after being reunited with his favorite of companions.

Quietly, Buddy rushed up near the cages, pausing and hiding for a moment as he saw the sight of the beast-keeper. An intimidating sort, but Buddy always had a plan to deal with the big lugs like that. Carefully he slipped the dagger from his left boot, swiftly moving aroudn and sneaking up and behind the large man, an utterance of an incantation he had picked up in his travels of Imythess and the metal blade was crackling with electricity before it would be dug deep into the muscle tissue of the bandit, the electrical current with the right amount of time inside of the living body sur to be enough to bring the big man down with a good surge of magically conducted energy.

With the large for being defeated and to fall to the ground, Buddy would let his dagger slip from his unconcious victim, his blue-eyed gaze to settle upon the man with the bow and arrows, offering his free hand to help the man up.

"No time to be playing with the animals, now. Let's hurry this up and get the hell out before the cavalry arrives." He would joke with a smile to alleviate the situation, at the same time insuilting the unconcious person who would be lying upon the ground.
