Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

She absolutely hated other humans.

Vivianne darted through the forest, her footing sound among the tangled roots and thick bushes. The girl ducked under a low-hanging branch, breathing heavily from the exertion of sprinting through such treacherous terrain. Her clothes were well-suited for the lush surroundings, the fabric clinging to her lither form dyed in various shades of green that blended in with the coloration of the Norwood forest. There was a golden bangle on one arm as well, but at the moment it was so covered in mud it was barely recognizable as a precious metal. In fact, her entire body was filthy and mud-spattered, but the girl did not seem to mind in the least. She slid underneath a thick tangle of roots, turning around as she did so to watch the forest behind her with keen, emerald eyes.

After less than a minute another figure burst through the bushes, tearing through the undergrowth and cursing so vehemently it would make a sailor blush. The man wore a piecemeal collection of leather armor, the components obviously taken from several different individual sets. He was stout and heavily muscled, with harsh black tattoos crawling over both arms. A piece of filthy fabric was wrapped around his forehead to cover his hair, and his expression made his intentions for the girl clear. Even if he had not looked so furious, he was brandishing a heavy machete wildly, effortlessly chopping through the surrounding bushes and overhanging vines. A jagged set of three lines was traced down his right cheek, bleeding freely and staining his torn shirt.

“Keep running girl! Because if I find you, I’m gonna skin ya!” The bandit peered at his surroundings, obviously searching for the direction in which Vivi had fled. The girl forced herself to stay still, barely breathing in the fear that the sound would give away her location. The skinsharer had been inhabiting the body of her peregrine falcon, Artemis, when the raptor’s keen eyes had spotted this man beating his dog in the nearby bandit camp. She had known that attacking him would be a mistake, but she had been unable to resist ordering her bird’s body to plunge at the outlaw and rip a set of deep gouges into his flesh. Unfortunately for her, he had seen the falcon return to her unconscious body and realized that she had ordered the bird to attack him. She usually knew better than to interfere with other humans, but the girl could not stand to see the canine in such misery. The fact that she had saved the dog from his heavy-handed master was the only part of the afternoon's activities that she did not regret.

The bandit’s fierce eyes found her hiding place, and he grinned with a mouthful of crooked, yellowed teeth. ”There you are, precious…” Vivi sprang to life, scrambling backwards as far as she could manage in the tiny hollow underneath the tree’s roots. She could hear the keening cries of Artemis from the canopy above, but she knew that the falcon would be unable to strike at the bandit again in such a confined space. ”Help! Somebody help me!” Her loud shout echoed through the woods as the bandit approached, attempting to fit his bulk underneath the flora in order to drag her out. His bulky frame was far too wide to fit in the small, muddy cave, eliciting a grunt of annoyance from the man. He began to hack at the protective roots with his machete, grinning evilly as her plaintive cries echoed throughout the woods.

Vyse walked through the woods, fully armed with his blades at his side and maces on his back, his dire tigress at his side, he smiled as he stretched his arms, he had finally found a second trustworthy adviser to help out Qadaj, his freedom was slowly returning. He frowned as he heard something... but he couldn't tell what, all he knew was that it came from the west. He hopped on Umbriel's back and road towards the west, Umbriel dodging between trees and running faster then any horse. He started to hear it clearly, someone was calling for help, he urged Umbriel on faster, he soon saw the form of a bandit standing over... a young girl, well it was simple to think what was happening. He partially dismounted, barely hanging onto the side, he had Umbriel still running towards him, once he was close enough Umbriel started to veer off, allowing Vyse to leap off of her and tackle the man.

Vyse stood up and kicked him to the side, pulling out a mace he threw it, the mace caving in the man's chest and crushing his heart, killing him instantly, the mace magically flying back to his hand, allowing him to put it back in the leather holster on his back. He looked to the girl and smiled as Umbriel came up beside him, sitting down and purring, "It's fine now, you're safe... I'm Vyse Noclan, you should probably come with me, it'll be best to get away from this area... it's never one bandit, his allies will look for him and find him. Then it's only a matter of time before they try and find you." He offered her his hand as Umbriel nuzzled the side of his head, purring loudly, she was always so proud of her cub for helping people, he was such a good cub-master.

Vivi was too distracted by the immediate threat of the bandit to pay attention to the sounds of the forest around her. Had she been more attentive, the girl would have noticed that the animals slowly went quiet, many of the smaller fauna fleeing as a new predator entered the area. In fact, the girl had closed her eyes entirely, wrapping her arms around her knees and curling up in the furthest corner of her refuge of roots. There was a wet thumping sound, accompanied by a harsh crack, and Vivi cracked one eyelid to see what had made the odd noise. The bandit's corpse dropped to the ground directly in front of her hidey-hole, his mouth working soundlessly as he grabbed at the mess of flesh and bones that used to be his chest. She could see blood oozing out of the injury, staining his shirt and leather armor.

She looked up to see her "savior" was another brute, although admittedly much less intimidating than the bandit. A mace whipped through the air like it had a mind of its own, returning to the blue-jacketed figure's hand. He slung it over his shoulder, blood still dripping from the weighted head of the weapon. She shuddered at the gory sight, refusing to exit her small cavern initially. "P-p-puh-please... I don't h-have any m-m-money... Please don't h-h-hurt me..." Teaars sparkled in the corners of her eyes as she cringed away from the blood now dripping into her small cave, putting as much distance between herself and the viscera as possible.

Only after Vivi's rescuer had drawn closer to her did she notice the beast he was mounted on. It was a majestic specimen, easily twice the size and weight of a typical tiger. She knew instinctively that it was a female dire tigress, and she felt all of her fear of its owner evaporate. The slight girl scrabbled out of the cave, ignoring the thick mud that clung to her fingernails as she wormed out of the roots. "Wow! A real life dire tigress! I know they live in the Debon Plains and Istan Savannah, but not many come up to the scrub at the edge of the forest!" She reached forward cautiously, as if she intended to pet the gigantic feline, but suddenly realized the disgusting state she was in. Every inch of her body seemed to be covered in thick, dark drown mud from her crawl underneath the tree.

The shock of that realization brought her back to reality, and she stared at Vyse with obvious terror. She backed away from the offered hand, shaking her head wildly. "I... what... no... Um..." She stared at him for a moment longer, almost quaking with terror as she gathered her composure. "W-why would you help m-m-me?" The peregrine falcon shrieked, flapping down from the branches above to land on Vivi's shoulder. She did not seem to notice her raptor's return, watching Vyse with wide, mistrustful eyes.

Vyse scratched his head... why had he helped her... what an odd question, "I helped you because you were screaming for help, I did it because I believed it to be the right thing to do at the moment. As for my partner here, she's a dire tigress I met a long time ago, she's been part of my family for a while." He dismounted the dire tigress and patted her side. She seemed to be fascinated by animals, especially rare specimens like Umbriel, speaking of which the large feline took a step forward, sniffing the young girl... just before licking the side of her face and nuzzling her with her large head, purring all the while.

Vyse chuckled, "My names Vyse, my dire tigress is Umbriel, and she seems to like you quite a bit... it's fine if you pet her, she's just a big softy." He didn't really care that she was dirty, he had been covered in blood from several fights and had still rode Umbriel through the woods, what could a little mud do? He crouched near the corpse, picking up it's feet and started to drag it away, dumping it in a bush, he might as well make it harder to spot, it would buy them time before more bandits came to look for their ally. He looked back and Umbriel raised her head, looking at the direction where he guessed the bandits had come from, he grimaced and walked back over, hopping back onto her back, "No time to really stay and talk, come on, hop on Umbriel's back and hold on tight, or we stay here and fight the bandits." An army of bandits would be easy for him to kill alone, but with a young woman to protect... it would be hard to protect her and still fight.

The girl absentmindedly rubbed her hands along her hips in a vain attempt to scrape off a little more mud from her skin. Usually she would not mind, but usually she was not given the chance to ride such a majestic and glorious creature. She could smell the thick, musky odor of the giant feline as it stepped closer... and then licked her face! Vivianne giggled, a sound completely incongruous with her scared demeanor, and knew she could not hold back a moment longer. The rough surface of Umbriel's tongue cleaned off a layer of the mud caking her features, and the skinsharer suspected that the cat was trying to clean her off. She wrapped her arms around the tigress's thick neck, feeling her arms vibrate as the giant cat purred contentedly. Although Umbriel could probably rip the girl apart as if she were made of paper instead of flesh and blood, she never felt uncomfortable around animals. She mumbled into the felines thick pelt, her words made completely unintelligible by the tigress's fur. "What do you say? Can I trust him?"

Umbriel purred even louder than before, nuzzling the girl's shoulder with enough force it almost knocked her over. Vivi did not mind the tigress's strength, understanding the big cat's meaning. She looked over the top of the feline's ears, peering at Vyse with her green eyes. In the bright daylight there were golden flecks reflected in the emerald depths of her irises. "O... Ok Vyse. I will c-come with you. My n-name is Vivianne." She smiled shyly at the man, a small blush rising to her cheeks. She was unaccustomed to conversation and she was sure that her halting words were barely intelligible, but the meaning probably got across. She gracefully climbed onto the dire tigress, threading her fingers through its thick fur.

"Artemis... Keep an eye out." The peregrine falcon uttered a harsh cry in agreement, fondly pinching her shoulder between its talons before taking off. The bird flew upwards in slowly widening spirals, wings flapping strongly to propel the bird into the air. She smiled upwards at the raptor; she knew that at the first sign of trouble she could share the bird's sight and spot their enemies long before they reached the trio. Unfortunately, she had not yet realized that Vyse would probably be riding the dire tigress at the same time...

Vyse smiled and nodded, "I'll just call you Vivi then, now hold on tight, we're going to get moving and lose the bandits, we can talk after a bit of riding." He squeezed Umbriel's sides lightly, urging her onward. She immediately set off, her paws crushing twigs and leaves as she ran, her long loping run not even jostling her riders, she was experienced to the point where she could carry unstrapped books on her back without knocking them over with bumping around, she was the perfect mount for the berserker.

He looked back at Vivi, "After a few minutes of riding we can stop and talk, I'm sure Umbriel would like some more company." He let Umbriel choose her own path and speed, which she immediately decided to show her full power, her paws crushing anything in her path, her wild sprint only slightly jostling her riders, she kept up her wild run until she entered a rather large clearing, slowing to a stop, know she had run for more then long enough. She laid down with both riders on her, just putting her hands on her paws and purring.

Vyse chuckled, she had really gone all out, he had barely felt the jostling as he was riding. He slid off Umbriel's side and stood up, stretching, "So Vivi, how did you like the ride? I hope Umbriel wasn't to rough, she gets excited when she meets new people." He stroked Umbriel's head, watching her raise it and lick his cheek once, going back down to rest, she still thought of him as nothing more then a cub. Vyse decided it was best to ask now, what had happened exactly, "So Vivi... why was that bandit chasing you?"

The skinsharer’s fingers tightened in the tiger’s fur as the giant feline bounded off into the woods, moving at a much faster pace than the girl had run on her bare feet. She leaned back from Vyse, trying not to bump against the man’s back. She craned her neck back as they dashed through the woods, watching her peregrine falcon high above, flapping her wings to keep the giant cat in sight. She closed her eyes, slipping out of her own form to share the bird of prey’s vision, staring through the raptor’s golden eyes. Artemis caught a thermal updraft, barely having to flap her wings as the heated air carried the bird even higher into the sky. This was the feeling that Vivi enjoyed the most… gliding high above the ground, the trees and people so small they were like toys. She can never understand why her parents had not been appreciative of her gift… it was easily the best part of the girl’s life.

They continued through the forest at a blurring pace, reducing the woods around them to a haze of brown and green. She returned to her own body, letting the falcon control her own path as Vivianne opened her own eyes. She focused on keeping her seat on the tiger’s haunches as it raced through the woods. When Umbriel finally skid to a halt in the middle of a small clearing Vyse jumped off of his mount, the dire tigress lying down on the ground. She slipped off of the opposite side, scratching her fingers through the orange and black pelt and whispering her thanks to the animal.

“T-they were being mean to an animal. I h-had to interfere.” She looked away from the man, running her dirty fingers through her spiky brown hair in a fruitless attempt to control the spiky locks. She looked up into the sky, making a sharp, oscillating noise in the back of her throat that seemed like it was emanating from a forest animal instead of a young woman. The falcon responded almost immediately, diving into the clearing and flapping its wings furiously to halt its momentum. Vivi raised her right arm, letting the bird come to a rest on her bare forearm. The falcon cooed at the girl and began to preen. ”Artemis punished that b-bandit for me, but he found out s-somehow… Why are you i-in the forest, Vyse?” She knew that he was not a resident of the nearby Norwood Village; his clothes were too outlandish to be from the small, isolated community.

Vyse nodded, she loved animals... it was admirable, he smiled at the question as to why he was here, "I'm here to just wander around, it's been so long since I had so much free time... now I'm only needed for direct merchant dealings." He laid himself down, using Umbriel's side as a pillow, it had been so long since he had just been allowed to wander around as much as he liked, he just had to tell Qadaj he wasn't going out bandit hunting anymore, which he wasn't, but they always seemed to find him anyway.

He closed his eyes before speaking again, "It's pretty admirable to save an animal being hurt by someone. I know if anyone hurt my Umbriel I probably would have done worse... it also doesn't help that I have a history with bandits. I used to hunt them down and stop them from hurting others, not to mention all of the crazy things I used to do." He smiled, he doubted the girl wanted to hear about his crazy past, killing and wandering the world of Chaon... he wanted to fight again.

He opened his eyes and stood up, turning his head just enough to look over his shoulder at her, "My arms are getting stiff... please don't freak out, it's just a magical augmentation." He let the extra arms hidden in his vest pocket extend out of the holes. He stretched his arms he felt the blood flowing through them again, he was tired of having them cooped up in the vest, not many people liked his arms, they found him freakish, one even called him a giant bug... that was ridiculous, he didn't have a shell... but the extra arms did make him look different.

The girl made sure to stay on the opposite side of the tigress from Vyse. She continued to knead the big cat's skin with her thin fingers, starting near its shoulders and scratching down its spine. Although she had never been this close to a tiger before, she had encountered many smaller felines in the Norwood Forest and knew that they usually enjoyed being scratched in such a way. She barely listened to Vyse's explanation, too smitten with his mount It was a truly amazing animal, one of the most formidable and largest animals she had ever gotten close enough to touch. She wondered foran instant if she could share the tigress's body. She reached out to Umbriel's mind as she continued to scratch the tiger's flanks, closing her eyes and focusing on the feline's presence. She could sense the big cat's predatory instincts, as well as its genuine fondness for her owner. Their bond was strong, almost as strong as the link she shared with her falcon. She knew that in order to slip into the tiger's consciousness she would be forced to sunder that connection... and she did not want to do that. As much as she loved the animal, it would resent her forever if she tried to take it away from Vyse. She returned to her own body, shaking her head slightly dejectedly and continued to scratch the tigress's side.

The man said something odd about a magical augmentation, such a curious phrase that Vivi peaked over Umbrial in order to see what he meant. The man unfolded two additional limbs from underneath his jacket, stretching the arms in front of him. She gasped softly at the revelation of the extra appendages; she did not know it was possible for someone to obtain such an alteration. She could see how having extra arms would be useful, but Vivi was unsure if she would want such an augmentation... It would probably scare the animals, and they were the only companions she had. "K-killing bandits sounds hard... But it-it's a good thing to do. They ar-are so mean to animals! They k-kick dogs and use w-whips on their horses!" She seemed to completely forget about her shyness, literally quaking with anger. "I wish there w-was a way for me to kick them o-o-out of my forest! So the animals can live peace-peacefully!"

Vyse nodded, "It's not really hard, I'm stronger then most people... almost as strong as a dragon." He walked a bit away looking back at her, "Not all bandits are truly evil, not all of them hurt animals, some are only bandits because it's all they know or because they have nothing left to lost. Unfortunately this still means I need to end them or their careers as bandits. I've saved a few men and women, but I've left a trail of blood on my journeys, now I can actually make a difference as a merchant, selling high quality products for low prices, keeping guards equipped with excellent weaponry, selling healing items that will heal wounds faster. I'm not trying to get redemption for all the people I've killed, I'm just doing what I think is right." He smiled, he wasn't a great man like so many others, but he was at least a good man.

He looked back at Umbriel, she was still purring contently, her tail swishing in the grass. Vyse walked back over, kneeling and petting Umbriel, "She's a good partner, no mount is more loyal then Umbriel. She's stood by my side as I've fought, I've rode her into battle many a time to... what I've found out though after all this time... is that she really likes to get scratched behind the ears." He showed her, Umbriel purring loudly raising her head and licking Vyse's cheek, laying back down as Vyse stopped, she was a good friend, and she thought of Vyse as a good cub.

Vivi shook her head at his words, screwing up her face in an expression of utmost disgust. "That's not true, Vyse!" Her anger was actually potent enough that she stopped stuttering entirely. She even leaned back from Umbriel's side and stopped petting the tigress in her fit of rage. "I have watched them here, in the forest... They are worse than animals! At least animals respect each other and only kill when they hunt! These men.. They are..." She shivered slightly, wrapping her arms around her torso and grabbing her own arms. Her fingernails dug into her own flesh, and there was a cold, hard set to her expression. "I have seen them kill entire families for fun and do... unspeakable things to any travelers that fall into their traps. Do not tell me men such as that are outlaws out of desperation."

She suddenly seemed to realize how harshly she had been speaking and gasped softly, stumbling over herself in her rush to apologize. "O-oh! I am sorry Vyse! I d-did not mean to ar-ar-argue with you!" She lapsed back into silence as the man began to describe his past with the dire tigress, returning to scratching behind the beast's rounded ears. She felt a twinge of jealousy at the fact that this man was partners with such an extraordinary creature. Her only constant animal companion was Artemis... She loved the falcon to death and would never part with it, but the bird could not always protect her. She smiled slightly as Umbriel shifted, patting the feline's head in a friendly manner.

A sudden shriek from above them drew the girl's attention away. She immediately looked up, spotting the peregrine falcon wheeling through the air high above. She closed her eyes and focused on the portion of her mind reserved for the bird. When she opened her eyelids again she was floating above the woods on a thermal updraft, glaring down at the ground below. With her sharp, golden eyes Vivi could see the reason for the raptor's alarm. A small group of men were worming their way through the forest, following a path that looked eerily similar to the route that Umbriel had taken after fleeing from the corpse of the slain bandit. They were far too close to have followed the tracks all the way from the murder scene; they must have just chanced across the tigress's path and chose to follow the trail. After all, dire tigers were not native to this area of Norwood; they might have realized the animal's presence indicated that travelers were ahead.

Vivi returned to her own body in an instant, opening her eyes up to see Umbriel's striped fur in front of her. She had slumped over when skinsharing Artemis's body, falling against the tigress's side. "V-v-vyse! I think there a-a-ar-are more ban-bandits c-c-c-coming!" It was impossible to miss the shrill undercurrent of panic in the girl's voice, all of her anger at the outlaws fading in the face of a confrontation.

Vyse frowned, "I said not all bandits, I never said these ones specifically... as for arguing, it's fine, it's good you're so passionate about your beliefs, you just have to remember there are always exceptions to anything." He heard her say there were bandits coming... they must have found Umbriel's path. He stood up and turned to the forest they had come from, his four arms grabbing blades, unsheathing them, their enchantments flaring to life, he was ready to fight. He turned his head as he walked, "Umbriel, guard Vivi, I'll go and destroy our pursuers, Vivi, stay with Umbriel." He walked to the edge, watching the bandits running towards him, stopping as they entered the clearing to get a better look at Vyse. One gave him an odd look and opened his mouth as if to talk, and his head fell to the ground.

Vyse's longsword was covered in blood from the beheading stroke, he stepped forward, using Lita's ability, with a simple word, "Cage." to force three of the bandits into glowing cages of energy. He looked at the final four, all charging him at once, he smirked as he stepped forward, parrying and counter attacking all four attacks, spinning on his heel and stopping, the bandits behind him... falling to the ground as their bodies fall to pieces, his draconic strength easily letting him cut through the bone. He turned to the final three and simply walked over, taking no pleasure in killing this way, he slide his blades into and impaled them ripping outwards to destroy their hearts. The cages ending as their life force ebbed away.

He himself had some blood on his jacket and arms, but he walked back up, Umbriel purring as Vyse sat down, sighing, "I doubt they'll be following you now, when so many die they tend to cut their losses." That wasn't entirely true, sometimes they kept on pursuing with a single minded fury... but he doubted this would happen... again.

Vivi had absolutely no problem with following Vyse's orders for now. She gladly wrapped her arms around Umbriel's neck, deriving comfort from the sheer size and strength of the creature. Vyse walked off to the edge of the clearing, pulling out four of his weapons at once. She couldn't bring herself to watch the merchant fight the group of bandits, burying her face in the dire tigress's fur instead. She could feel the vibration through the tiger's neck as it began to growl and she tightened her arms around the feline, squeezing her eyes tightly shut. She could hear Atemis shrieking above as the battle commenced. She could hear the resounding clash of metal and soft grunts as blows were landed. She knew that if she was truly in danger that the dire tigress would interpose itself between her and the bandits, and as Umbriel hasn't moved yet she was probably safe. Still, she dared not look up from the tiger's neck, clenching her fists in its fur.

The fight lasted for less than a minute. She opened her eyes when she heard Vyse's voice once more, turning to the approaching man. Her eyes went wide when she realized saw the blood staining not only his weapons, but the clearing behind him. Seven men were lying prone on the ground, their lifeblood oozing out of wounds no healer could mend. She took a step back from Vyse as he sat down next to the tiger and staring at his back with unabashed terror. Who was this man? He had killed that one bandit earlier with no difficulty, but that had been a single opponent. What kind of person could almost effortlessly slay seven men, and then act like it was nothing?

"... Th-th-thank you Vyse. I-I am not well equip-equiped to deal with bandits myself..." She ran her hands over Umbriel's sides, leaning her forehead against the massive feline. She could still feel the sense of contentment emanating from the giant cat. Perhaps she was being too harsh on Vyse... he had saved her twice by this point, so maybe she should trust him. Still, she could not completely ignore the knot in her gut from being so close to such a dangerous individual.

Vyse nodded to her, "Don't worry about it... I've been fighting for around three years, I'm a master at my craft. Vivi, I want you to know one thing, I'm a warrior, I've killed many people, smugglers, murderers, assassins, bandits, and finally... poachers." Vyse heard Umbriel growl at the word of poachers, Vyse frowned and slowly stroked her side, Vivi loved animals, she probably wanted to know of how he had come to have Umbriel.

Vyse sheathed his blades, "I know you love animals Vivi, let me tell you the story of how I met Umbriel. Many months ago I met her just south east of the Gwilikillith mountain range, I was a proud naive warrior who was out to right the wrongs of all humanity, killing those who would threaten the innocent. I'm still a little bit like that, but with less pride and more arms." He chuckled, Umbriel looked at him, and if she could she would have raised an eyebrow and called him a silly cub. Vyse continued on, "Now I was hunting some bandits who dabbled in poaching... specifically hunting and killing animals that are rather rare and selling their pelts. Now when I found them, they had a rather large and angry Dire Tigress locked up in a steel cage, and nearby, three murdered dire tiger cubs, skinned for their fur. I flew into a rage befit of what I was back then, a berserker. I killed the bandit poachers, I left the corpses to rot as I took the furs of the cubs and laid them over the corpses... digging three little graves for them and burying them individually. I released the angry dire tigress who immediately moved to the graves, roaring and mewling... if the dire tigress could cry she would have. She turned away from the graves growling and walking away, ready to hunt the other people who were in business with the murderers of her cubs. I myself was angry and joined her, we walked, fought, and killed for three days without rest, afterward we collapsed together, we are bound by more then loyalty, but as a family, Umbriel is my very important family, I never want to lose her." He hugged Umbriel's head, her purr stopping into a sad mewling noise.

Vyse looked to Vivi, "If you want to stop these atrocities... you'll need to learn how to fight or get people who now how to fight to take up the cause, please remember this Vivi, it's an important lesson everyone needs to learn." Umbriel nuzzled Vyse's chest, almost as if she was agreeing, she was a smart cat.

The skinsharer listened to Vyse's story of animal cruelty with open awe. She could not believe that he had risked so much in order to save an animal! Most of the humans she met treated the creatures of the wild like they were savage, unintelligent beasts who deserved absolutely no respect, but they were wrong. Every creature she had met possessed some degree of sentience, and even the fiercest bear in the woods could be kind and gentle when caring for its own cubs. Humans were the only creatures she had encountered that would skin an animal for its fur, or kill a baby for sport. She felt a rush of gratitude for this stranger who had saved the dire tigress, an animal she would have never guessed would ever need to be saved. "T-that's an amazing story, Vyse... I am s-so glad you were there to save Um-umbriel. She is such a... ma-majestic creature." The girl patted the tiger's head as she praised it, smiling warmly at the feline.

"Still... I ca-ca-cannot fight. I am not very strong or f-f-fast." The girl shook her head, brown strands of hair whirling around her skull. She linked her fingers in front of her, staring at them as she twisted them together nervously. "All I have is a knife, Vyse... and not a v-very good one. I use it t-to cook with. I can't im-im-imagine stabbing someone with it, n-no matter how c-cruel they are." She could smell the blood from the corpses across the clearing all the way from here, and the mere scent of it almost made her gag. It was different when she was skinsharing.
