We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

After stepping off the boat onto the docks Corvo let out a sigh of relief. He had never been one for travel on boats. And after heaving his breakfast over the side of the boat he vowed never again to leave dry land. The docks were alive with people, with many street vendors, and entertainers. Suddenly, shrieks erupted from the crowd, men and women fleeing in terror. Raven over heard a man standing nearby. "That's the third one this week" he said. Corvo walked closer to the uproar in the crowd, and saw the body of a man laying in the dust. He immediately noticed all the blood on the ground, and realized that the man's jugular vein had been nearly ripped out of his neck. By who or what, he wasn't sure. Tock questioned the judgement of the capitain of the gaurd but he humbly agreed to help when they asked for his assistance. Tock had been assigned to a small band of guard that were tasked with bringing the mysterious murder to justice. The small moogle was present for medical back up if the the small squad got into a scruff. There had been a tip off that the vile being would strike again today, in broad daylight no less. Tock was watching the market from the roof a small building. He trembled with anexity as he scanned the crowd. There was no assurance of when the murder would strike or if there would be any attack today. Tock didn't have to wait too long before a scream drew his attention. Tock quickly turned his attention in the direction and quickly tried to spot the culpirt. By some forutne the moogle had caught sight of a flash of silver framed in red blod amongst the crowd. He wasn't sure but the fleeing man sure was supicous. "Light's decree: Darkness Flee," Tock whispered as a sift blue light enveloped the the suspected culprit. It was the signal for the guards to block his path and try to catch him. "There he is," Tock shouted as he pointed before flying off in the direction with his bat-like wings.

Then it dawned on Corvo as to what may have killed the man. A word popped into his mind "Vampire". Corvo had heard terrifying storys of Vampires in Taverns, many from Rangers in the Norwood Forest. All of a sudden, Corvo saw a flash of blue light enveloping a man nearby. "What magic is this?" he thought. Corvo knew of magic, but had very little knowledge of spells. A furry flying being flew past Raven, and headed toward the man trapped by the blue light. (Side note: It is early in the morning still dark, that is why the Vampire can be outside) Edited by Corvo Arquitus, Sat Aug 27, 2011 1:47 am.

The old man stepped onto the docks. This was technically part of the boardwalks, but it was quite a ways away from the main area. Looking around, he could see a few familiar faces, and he nodded in acknowledgement to them, an action they in turn returned so as not to disturb their work. He would have to see what had happened to the old roulette tent where he and Rinrae had defeated the demonic owner at some point, but he had work to do. He had received word from a friend in the town that his abilities may be required, but the friend did not tell him what abilities in particular. It was rather infuriating, but it was true that he had nothing better to do in the meanwhile. Stepping near a crowd of people, he noticed the hard glares and teary eyes of the people within it. Ezekial put a hand on his sword, and stepped into the crowd, noticing the corpse of a man in a the hollow of the throng of people. At the other end was a strange man near the corpse. From this distance, all he could tell was that the man had a severe wound on the right side of his neck, most likely the cause of death. He noticed a man begin to move away from the crowd, and break into a sprint away from the crowd, in his direction. He was enveloped mid-sprint with incorporeal flames, to mark a person, and he could see a small flying animal chasing the fleeing man. Ezekial shifted his stances into the triangular stance and when the man came close, whispered, "Go go gadget gloves." In a blink of the eye, the leather of the gloves that Ezekial wore were drawn back to reveal metal plates that overlapped, tucking the leather beneath them. He stepped into the man's guard and slammed his right hand over his face, gripping his shoulder with his left. He stepped forward and hooked his right leg behind the man's left, drawing his backwards and upwards, tipping the man over. The man slammed into the ground, his nose broken from impacting into the hard steel plates of the old priest's gauntlets. The man, confused and covered in blood, looked up to the man. Ezekial gripped him about the collar, and dragged him to standing. "I should warn you, I'm not in the mood for whatever it is you're thinking of playing, so I'll only ask once. What's going on?" |

Corvo decided to head in the direction of the marked man. And much to his astonishment he watched as an old man grabbed the marked man, and smashed his face with his rather large gauntlet. Then the old man used his leg to knock the other man to the ground. "Blimey!" Corvo was impressed, but then again he was easily impressed by most things, by the seemingly benign old man. Raven walked over to the old man and said to him "Wow old man, where did you learn to do that?".

Tock was surpised to see the culrit aprehended so quickly. Even more surprising was that it wasn't one of the guards that had managed to get the deed done. Instead it was some elf he had never seen before. Tock hoped he had actually picked out the criminal. It would be really bad if he had made a msitake and in the process allowed the real culprit to escape. Tock arrived shortly after the elf had finished redecorating the suspect's face and the gaurds came in shortly after that with shackles ready to be placed on the culprit. Tock did not think it was his place to speak and decided to keep his mouth shut, least his eyes were proven to be faulty and directly lead to the unjust punishment of an innocent. The captain of the guard however did not remain silent. "Excellent job citizen," the muscular human praised. "You're skill in impecable and it is so rare to see a citizen help up. Your efforts are greatly appreciated," the man continued. (Anyone may control the gaurds, cause I'm too lazy to handle the rest of the arrest XD) |

The man looked at the old priest with smoldering eyes and did not respond to the old priest's query, eliciting a bit of rough shaking, to no avail. By that time, a group of guards had come up to give support, and were surprised to see that their work had been appropriated by such an elderly elf, and with such ruthless efficiency. Ezekial, noticing them come, turned the man around and pushed him into the waiting arms of a pair of hale guards who locked the criminal's wrists in irons. He whispered the command phrase that activated his gloves once again, and the plates of iron retreated again to be covered with leather. The captain of the guard in seeing it was not entirely sure if it was magic or contraption for it was too fast for him to distinguish. The captain thanked the old priest for his contribution, and held his hand out briskly, a gesture Ezekial exchanged in a vigorous shake that belied his years. "Anything I can do. A man fleeing the scene of a crime is automatically a suspect. For the time being, a cursory examination of the body before the men from the morgue get here will suffice. Has Lakis been notified, or do you have another for this jurisdiction?" The eyes of the captain betrayed a bit of surprise at the knowledge of this stranger, and replied, "No, he hasn't. He only works in the Refugee Camp, and the area, I'm sure you'll agree, is much too large for his team to handle both this area and that one. No, we have another team specifically for this area, deeper in the docks. A runner has been sent out, but it'll be a while until they come here." The priest did not respond to this and replied, wrily, "Then perhaps the examination need not be cursory. Now, shall we?" The priest turned, and followed by an entourage of the guards, kneeled next to the body. He looked up at the young male who asked him where he learned that move, the osotogari. He responded curtly, "From a group of Monks on the outskirts of Norwood." He looked down again, eyes focused on the body. This was much too similar to the Red Lily Man case for his comfort. |

Corvo was still in awe of the events that had unfolded right before his very eyes. He had just inquired about the old elf's unarmed fighting capabilities, the ancient elf looked at him and replied, "From a group of Monks on the outskirts of Norwood." The elf looked back at the man he had just apprehended. Corvo took a moment to take it the cool, crisp sea air, but then a dark silhouette on the roof of a building caught his eye. The uknown spectre had a crossbow in hand and took aim, at whom he did not know. A bolt shot from the crossbow struck the man in shackled being held by the guards. The man in shackles grew limp and fell over. Corvo grabbed his bow and an arrow, he aimed at the man on the roof and fired. The arrow missed and landed short of its target. "Damn!" he whispered to himself. He almost never missed, he was exhausted from his boat ride, he blamed his inaccuracy on it. The man on the roof jumped off his perch, and made a run for it through an alley. Corvo decided to pursue him, despite his fatigue. The chase was on. Tock was about to about see if there was anything that could be done for the victim. The man was quite likely dead or beyond his capacity to help, but it couldn't hurt to check on him and there was still a small spark of hope that the man was alive, even if was entirely improbable. Before Tock could get far from the criminal a bolt wizzed through the air and landed with a thud into the captured person. Tock spun around almost instinctively at the sound to find the man he help capture dead. Why would someone do this? The answer was likely more sensible if the man they caught truly was the culprit, but that would seem to mean they were dealing the someone or some people who were truly ruthless. It also would seem to mean tha they had only been looking at a small portion of the big picture. Tock hadn't seen where the bolt came from but the swift action of the guards and people around him pointed out clearly that the fiend was on the rooftops. One chase had now lead to another and this one seemed a bit more dangerous. "L-light relfect and harm d-d-deflect," Tock stuttered as the air infront of him began to become mildly distorted. With the spell completed Tock took to the air and joined the chase. The spell would hopefully protect him against any bolts that came his way. |

Ezekial heard the characteristic twang of a crossbow being fired and tumbled away from the body. Fortunately, he was not the target, rather that the recently apprehended suspect was. The bolt struck the man in the torso, piercing through his sternum and grazing the heart deeply enough to kill him quickly, but not so deep that it was instantaneous. The man released his breath in a quick gasp, and slumped down in the arms of the guards. Ezekial heard another twang and, sensing that it was not from the same person, looked in the direction of the new attack. The man, in truth little more than a child in his eyes, who had asked him where he had learned how to preform the osotogari had a bow clutched in his hands, his hand near his ear, the limbs slackened, the arrow released. Looking in the direction of the projectile, Ezekial could tell that the man had missed, for the assailant moved with ease, not stumbling away. He considered it likely that should he go to the hunter's roost, he would see a scratch on the nearby architecture. He noticed that the man rushed forward to give chase, and shouted to the nonplussed guards. "What are you standing around for?! Go get him!" The guards, too distracted by the commanding tone to consider the implications of taking orders from a civilian, dropped the now dead suspect, and raced after the escaping murderer. Three of the guards armored in lighter armor, leather rather than metal plate, raced away, leaving the captain and another guard to deal with the new scene. All three, the captain, the guard, and Ezekial, sighed at being forced to clean up yet another mess. Fortunately the morgue workers were coming. Looking up, Ezekial was shocked to see a familiar face barreling towards him, shouting for them to get out of the way. The three men quickly grabbed the bodies and jumped out of the way, just missing being clipped by the edge of a big covered wagon drawn by a pair of big lizards, Bagaraatan ostromi. They had bright red feathers covering them that glittered in the sun, and the cruel face of a reptile. Ezekial was taken aback by the pair as the morgue director descended from the wagon. She walked over to Ezekial, smiling widely, he still staring awestruck at the dinosaurs, who were snapping their jaws and panting heavily, looking around them. The morgue director, a small woman who came only to Ezekial's sternum, wearing large glasses that made her face seem small, in spite of its already small size, slugged Ezekial playfully on the inside of his elbow. "Here I am! We're my stiffs?" She took hold of the body that Ezekial was clutching, and heaved it over her shoulder. As she took it to the back of the wagon, one of the beasts looked over at it, prompting a chastising shout from her. The captain, handing the next corpse to her, was not as surprised, although the sight of the crimson-wreathed lizards made him pause. Ezekial looked from the lizards to the morgue director, Lucille, and said, "Are those legal?" Lucille smiled broadly and affirmed that they were, although she griped that the cost of the permits were a little extra because they had to make an entire new type of permit to allow the use of the animals. Ezekial was not surprised at this. |

Corvo took off sprinting after the shooter. The man took a sharp turn into a narrow alley, knocking down barrels and shoving nearby people to try and aid his escape. Corvo jumped over one barrel and almost tripped over another. In the confusion he had lost the fugitive, Corvo continued through the alley, just then, his quarry jumped out from behind a stack of wooden crates. The man tried to sucker punch him, but Corvo knew better. Corvo grabbed the man's arm and countered with an elbow to his attacker's face. The man's nose erupted in fountain of blood. With his attacker dazed, he grabbed the man by the shoulders and kneed him in his groin. The man fell to the ground, incapacitated. Corvo watched over his captive until the guards arrived. Finally, after five minutes the guards caught up to him. The nearest guard looked at him sheepishly and thanked him. "Hopefully this one..."pointing to the man on the ground, Won't end up like your previous prisoner." , Corvo said. |

The strength of the spell seemed like it would not be tested as Tock flew after the shady figure. Someone else was chasing the figure down, the man who had fired the second crossbow. If it weren't for the young man Tock was sure he would have lost the culprit, though Tock ultimately was of no help in catching the criminal. The young man was skilled enough to handle it by himself. Tock drew his blade to assist the man in his small scruff with the culprit, but the fight was over before Tock could even get near Corvo and the mysterious sniper. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" Tock asked the mysterious hero as he neared. In a way Tock was glad that he didn't have to help, afterall what help he could muster was notably feeble. Hopefully this capture would yield more answers than the last, though it was likely they would be pointed in the direction of a darker more powerful threat that both culprits had once belonged to. (Sorry for shortness) |

"You do know what this was, eh? Hearing Lucille speak, Ezekial turned to look at her, confused. "No, what was it?" The director chuckled and grabbed Ezekial by the wrist, dragging him around the wagon to the back. She climbed in, pulling Ezekial after her. Ezekial shuddered in the conjured cold that suddenly enveloped him, chilling him to the bone. Looking at Lucille, he could see a wisp of a smile on her face, and her skin gain a strange pallor. Staring at what little exposed skin he could see, on her face and neck, he was perturbed to see this almost eldritch tone. What could it be? He had seen it before, but he could not place it. All he knew was that it reminded him of a name, Sebastian. Not that he could remember that person all that well, his memories of the entire situation were hazy. That too was surely her fault. Even now, he was sure that that woman was hiding in the shadows, lips peeled back to show cruel fangs. He shook his head, and followed the director's pointing finger to the neck of the first victim, juxtaposed on the floor to the second victim. Mixed with the coagulated blood was something else that Ezekial could not identify immediately. He bent down, seeing a strange stain projecting from a blood stain on the first victim's shirt, creating a curious overlap. Is this? He lightly brushed the stain, and brought it to his nose. Although he had just barely touched it, he could smell the stench of rotten blood and something else, saliva. He stood straight up, and turned to the director, his eyes wide. She smiled and nodded her head, and mouthed the word, "porphyria". "A vampire? Here?" Lucille nodded, and said, "I envy you folks, jetting off to fight them leeches. Although, I'm getting to be more of an inside slicer. I'll be getting back with these bodies, and you'll be going off to be a big macho man. Lord knows you could use a turn, what with me always saving your rear back in the day. Those days were fun, eh?" Ezekial looked at her with unflinching eyes and did not respond. She tilted her head to one side, and mock pouted, saying, "Oh, don't be like that. Oh dear, is it really that time already? I must be off, Brighteyes, and you have work to do. So get off of my wagon." Ezekial, watching at the strange wagon leave to examine the recovered bodies, turned to see the guards returning with the now unconscious prisoner, the one who had attacked the previous suspect. Vampires, in this place? He saw a man and a strange animal off in the distance, the man walking to the square, and moved to intercept. He shouted to the man, who stopped and waited until they met. Ezekial thrust out a hand and said, "I didn't catch your name. I'm Smith, Ezekial Smith. Did you get anything out of that perpetrator before knocking him in the bread-basket? In any case, I got some information from Luc- the morgue director." He then proceeded to tell the man about what he had gleaned from the situation. Edited by Ezekial Smith, Mon Sep 12, 2011 11:28 pm.

"I'm, Corvo, Corvo Arquitus." Corvo shook the man's hand. "Pleased to make your aquaintance. I couldn't get any information out of the chap I disarmed. Maybe you will have better luck than I did. Anyway, have you seen that morgue lady, she is absolutely bonkers. The day was turning more bizarre and exciting by the minute. Edited by Corvo Arquitus, Sat Sep 17, 2011 4:07 pm.

Any response seemed interrupted by the man who had captured the first suspect. Tock wasn't surprised he was ignored, he wasn't very important and probably least of all in matters like these. Even when it came to the things he was hired t help with he wasn't sure that he would be a great help. Fortunately the guards were not far behind Ezekial. Given how short-lived their last culprit was they were quick to take action to prevent any mishap this time around. A pair of guards swiftly erected a small tent while the remaining guards apprehended the criminal while thanking Corvo and Ezekial for their continued assistance. Once the Tent was up the culprit was dragged in. Apparently the magic of the tent prevented those outside from seeing or hearing the occupants inside and may have other bonuses to its enchantments. "We found 'em," a guard exclaimed as he emerged from the tent. "The organization is housed in one of the recently built warehouses. We need to act quickly before they try and move, but we may be out numbered. It would be appreciated if we could receive both of your assistance again in the matter, though don't expect it to be easy," The guard explained to Corvo and Ezekial. Perhaps now he might able to be of some use, though probably not if those two were to help. They seemed to be able to manage baddies with no trouble at all. A few more numbers against them probably wouldn't change things. But Tock hoped that his aid wasn't needed as that would mean that someone got hurt. Edited by Tock, Fri Sep 23, 2011 9:26 pm.
