Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Locked so deeply in his struggle, Seti barely remembered that he had company for this venture, let alone did he hear the words spoken to him. He ground his teeth hard, feeling the stony feel of his own skull grinding into itself with every psychic lash the elemental threw at him. He remembered the first time that he did this ritual, the odds that were stacked against him. This only brought a smile to Seti's face as he rose to his feet, both in body and in mind, and cupped water in each of his hands.
Ghashurk was a thousand times more deadly then these currents, and he wouldn't be stopped by something that he knew he could crush.

The next thing that bore into him was pain as his knees were lost from under him, his hands barely holding onto the contents that he had taken when he stood. The water seemed to swirl in each hand, trying desperately to take it back to it's source. The elemental had a strong hold over the water, much stronger then it had been. He could see flashes, memories of it's life since it's imprisonment. The less water that was in the pool over time, the stronger the elemental's hold over it would be, the more of him and the less of it there truly was. Seti closed his eyes and slowly began to squeeze his hands, making sure not to squeeze tight enough to give the elemental what it wanted.
He couldn't give it that satisfaction now.

He finally gained enough composure to hear and understand the world around him, the laughter and taunts of the elemental constantly trying to drown out everything he could near. He had to hold each word separately in his mind, decipher and break them apart until he could truly discern what each meant. He needed to give permission? He wasn't quite sure what the man was talking about, but anything that would assist in his capturing of the elemental was certainly something that he wouldn't snub away.
He had to speak through ground teeth, his neck muscles wrapping themselves tightly and making speech painful, if barely possible, "Then... assist as... you see fit. Do not... effect the sigils, we will both.. not enjoy that."

He left it at that, his neck feeling like it was on fire after such simple words. He narrowed his eyes and splashed the first hand full of water into his stomach, each droplet absorbing into the runes that they touched, the blood that he had placed there being absorbed as well. He could hear the distressed call of the elemental in his mind, pained and scared to be placed somewhere that meant little difference. The cause that he was being made to fight wasn't his, he just wished to be released, to be out of someones control.
But Seti Thutmose cared little for it's desires that he could feel so acutely, for he did believe in his cause. The world needed warriors, those who would stand on the side of balance and strike at those who force themselves onto the scales. For that, Seti would need power. Power is what the elemental would give him.
Seti began to laugh, each harsh sound coming from him paining him and only adding strength to his resolve, "You.. are mine.. elemental."
He splashed the other hand of water, pulling himself deeper into the water to begin the slow absorption of the elemental. The runes had tasted what they were meant to hold, and they were slowly beginning the absorption of it's entire being. All Seti had to do was fight it, prove that he was the stronger. He wound have quite a fight ahead of him, this he knew.

Boros nodded as the man let him access to his psycho-plane, he grabbed the sides of psycho-plane version of Seti, "Now, See the Truth!" His eyes started to glow white as he let Seti see into the elemental, giving him even further insight as to how to fight it, it's weaknesses, how it was subdued last time, even it's fear, evaporation, it feared losing it's form and becoming part of the sky, being forced in there until it rained, Boros could feel the anger from the elemental as it sensed Boros helping Seti. This was all Boros could do though, give him insight since he did not know what else he could do in the psycho-planes, he felt his grasp loosen as the elemental shunted him from Seti's psycho-plane, back into his own body.

Boros sat up, shivering as if he had been doused in cold water, but he was still dry. He looked over at Seti who had immersed himself into the water, it was all up to him now, Boros could do nothing more then help him once his ordeal was over. Though now something popped into his mind, if he could go into the psycho-plane he could help out those who were mentally ill, put them back into nature's balance, even animals that had been experimented on could be returned to normal, he had found what he could use his powers for, now he just needed to practice them. He became lost in thought as he waited for Seti's ritual to complete, it would be a while and he had much to think about.

Seti felt the information wash over him like a counter-wave, washing against the power of the elemental and setting it into a ripple within his very stomach. He could feel it's memories passing into him, it's pains and sorrows, it's fears, and even it's joys as those began to run dry. He could see memories flashing into his mind, painfully burning themselves into the surface of his mind as if he had lived through them himself....

...His form was massive then, his eyes intimidating and painfully etching holes through the face of the impetuous wizard who had dared speak his name. There was just a puddle here before he had uttered the words, and now there was a lake. A snarl came from the elemental's lips, something insidious yet eternally sounding like waves crashing against stone. The wizard balked visibly at the sight of the beast it had summoned, it's voice coming out a whisper, "M-mighty e-elemental.. we... we seek your aide!"
That was the start of it all, the start of all of this pain...

Seti's shoulders drooped as the vision took over him, the presence of the water elemental within taking full control for a simple moment. Upon the psycho-plane his form became purely of water as the sigils on his stomach began to drain the water. At first it was slow, as if it was slowly dripping within Seti. For a moment, he couldn't hear the voices, couldn't hear the rumbling of Ghashurk in his head or the hissing rage of Ignyxxius through the rhythm of his chest.
The muscles in his neck corded painfully, one of them ripping enough to send a burning agony throughout his entire body, the sensation of it making him wish he could go numb.
The hissing rage of the elemental that was being sucked within began to rise in his ears, a crescendo slowly taking over his senses. Another memory flashed, his eyes barely able to focus through it all...

...He felt trapped, and weak. So much weaker then he was just a century before. He sat amidst the water, it's body curling slowly within itself as the lake that it's body had formed was slowly drained, year by year the people that had bound him here taking more and more. The wizards had spent year after year ensuring that the elder elemental had little chance of escape, little chance of doing more then simply let them take what they wished.
It just wanted it to end, it wanted the bars outside out of it's cage. One of the apprentices came that day, her face contorted in fear and excitement all at once. He could make out many details from beneath the surface of the water, discerning some things about the girl that he could use to his advantage. From the looks of her she was here against the will of her teacher, trying to show her worth was his best guess.
She came in towards the water, and all he could feel was elation as she tried to discern her control over him. The pleasure he felt when her body couldn't resist the constant change of the current, the power of the elemental she wished to control, was perhaps the greatest thing it had felt in centuries....

Seti began to breathe harder as the water was too far below his stomach to drain on it's own, his body allowing itself to collapse into the surface of it without a thought from him. He closed his eyes and felt a certain kinship to the elemental, being locked into a life that he had little desire to continue. His years with his people came to his mind, his fingers tracing shapes in the water absently as he thought of it. He laughed, knowing that the worst of it was over. He wondered how many wounds he had been given without noticing, but decided he would much rather close his eyes to sleep.
He could feel a serenity from the water that he couldn't deny, something that accepted his rest with a certain stoicism he associated with elementals. Apparently when he had seen into the elemental, so had it seen into him.

Boros looked down at the prone Seti, he was bloodied, but the wounds weren't that bad, probably because of the insight he had given him, that was good. Boros picked Seti up, slowly moving to the area he had cleared off for him to use, he placed him down and went to work, bandaging the wounds with the wrappings he had made. Soon enough he had Seti all wrapped up, he would stand guard now.

Boros waited for Seti to wake up, all the while reviewing what he knew about the psycho-planes. He went over them over and over in his head, the psycho-planes were crafted by the person's true character, the psycho-planes can only be accessed by powerful magic or if you are invited inside or even forced inside if you are to weak. All a man can do in the psycho-planes from his own experience though is give insight, help out indirectly even if he's given direct access to the psycho-planes, for the next few hours as he watched the tunnel entrance, he would recount the events, trying to figure out how he would gain access to a psycho-plane again, only time and plenty of experimentation would tell.
