Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Zenjirou walked through the Gloomwood, it was an odd place to say the least, he felt at home while at the same time disgusted by the place, though he had finally found his mark in this blasted place he was now wandering aimlessly, trying to find the road that would lead him out of here. He chuckled as he looked down at his katanas, he had recently gotten a new one, it was pure black along the back of the blade with an orange edge, it pulsed with magical power, he had it enchanted to kill ghosts and undead since his other katana would do little against them. He patted the plain hilt, it was basic and beautiful, he had it commissioned using a false name, using one of the people he had killed in Cascadia before they found out about his death. He chuckled, Gage wouldn't be happy when he found the new katana on his hip the next time he went back to his boss in Striberg.

He wandered aimlessly before finding an old path, probably used by bandits and the like who prefer hiding in shadows... perfect, sooner or later he would see the road if he followed this path, or even better, he would find someone to kill using Sangue Lupo, he had not named his other blade yet, not finding any good word to describe it. Oh well, he would think of one eventually, he kept on walking down the poor hidden pathway, his hand on his hip ready to draw any one of his katanas, it was just a matter of time before he found the road, or found someone to cut.

Perhaps Diana should have brought Ash with her, she was after all in a forest of predators that would not have minded the taste of undead flesh. But she had found Ash had been getting quite possessive as of late, apparently under the impression that Diana was the pet in their relationship. Silly worg, Diana was still a natural loner and liked to take these walks around on her own. But this was Gloomwood, there was something that could kill her at any turn, and everything could see in the dark.

Of course, Diana was not blind out here either, her eyes blackened by use of ebon eyes, letting her see as well as any other creature in this place. However, many in Balefire often chanced travel here, as did those few who actually tried to visit, and being a little more stealthy then the average traveller Diana was at least not the most endangered creature out here. Even now she could hear someone on the old bandit trails. Diana did not travel the paths if only because they were too open, but she could remember them pretty well.

Curious, and a little hungry, Diana followed the sound of the traveller's footsteps, rather quietly. Diana was a creature of stealth, and was able to keep quiet, even as she caught a glance through the trees of who it was. Zenjirou looked like he had a new sword, and strode with the arrogance and pride she remembered quite well. Oh how she would love to quick him down a few notches, maybe even try to make him cry for mercy before killing him.

She thought for a moment, knowing she was not really prepared to fight him without a bit of help. Zenjirou, she remembered, was quite the swordsman. A fair fight was not in her best interest. She began to whisper, which he might could hear in the quiet of the dark trees, another spell. She hoped she could keep her surprise but it was an acceptable loss to lose the advantage of stealth in exchange for the Draconic Might to overwhelm him.

He heard the whispering, he smirked, something was nearby, something was hunting him. He picked up the pace, going into a full blown sprint, he chuckled, it was time to play some cat and mouse. He saw the road after a bit of running, a small ditch to it's side, he leaped the ditch and landed on the path, landing into a roll before springing up and drawing his ghost slaying katana. He waited, his eyes shifting, his ears trying to pick up anything, he just needed to wait for a bit, wait for his hunter to appear and become the prey.

He smirked as he decided to speak out loud, he might as well get his mental warfare going, "I suggest you come out into sight, that little run wouldn't have lost anyone competent... though I doubt you're going to show yourself. Cowards tend to rush the sides and back, I promise you that if you just talk a bit, walk out into the open, we can start this duel to the death off right, with blood, maiming, and murder, what do you say, oh hunter of the forest." He activated the enchantments on it, undead and ghosts would now be critically wounded by his blade, now he spread out his legs to get into stance, he tensed the muscles in his legs, ready to run or spin around at a moment's notice, he kept his eyes scanning the trees, he would dodge the first strike then focus on a counter attack, yes, the counter attack was his key weapon when fighting someone arrogant and stupid enough that wanted to hunt him of all people.

He was not too hard to follow and keep up the spell, finishing it before he stopped and feeling the sudden burst of strength flow into her muscles. She smiled a little as he spoke out, having jumped over a gap and called out for a bit of fair play. She could have tried to hide again, but there was honestly no need now. She stepped from the trees and stood across from him. "Very well, Zenjirou," she said with a malicious smile.

She drew her Drow Scimitar as she spoke, and pointed it towards him. The side effect of her spell, making her eyes covered in darkness in order to see in darkness, hid the hatred in her eyes. There was more then just his gender and personality that made her hate him, it had also been him that had put her on a path of bad luck, and it seemed every fight she had after losing to him was a very grim defeat. Perhaps she was merely too afraid to think of Emily enough to blame her for the misfortunes, but it did not matter that it was not his fault she had mostly been having bad luck since meeting him. She would kill him for it anyways.

"Remember me?" she asked. Course he would, that whole speech about breaking her down if she failed to kill him when next they met, surely he would not forget such a thing.

Zenji gave her a confused look, remember her... nope, nothing. He stroked his chin and squinted his eyes, "Uh... should I? You look like some woman with a grudge against me... but I don't know why... did I kill your husband? Defile your parent's graves? Murder your children, string them up by their own intestines and then play the intestines like a violin?" He had only did that once... he smiled, that was his best murder ever, true artwork come to life in blood and gore. He start to pace from side to side, keeping the katana on his shoulder, "Now... I have no idea who you are, I don't keep track of people, I tend to murder them all, if I left someone alive it's because I was unprofessional or bored. So unless you've got something to prove that we met before something in my mannerisms or something I've said before I'm afraid you're just another woman with a grudge, plain, arrogant, and stupid."

He truly had no idea who she was, it was best to start egging her on though, make her angry and attack, or should could give him information to who she was, allowing him to remember how he fought her last time. Only time would tell though, he kept his katana ready on his shoulder, his free hand at the moment was ready to grab the bottom of the hilt for a proper grip, his mind already pouring over the new techniques he stole from some doddering old swordsman, he was a true master, and now he was a true master. He readied himself to fight, maybe he would play with her first... yes, play with your food before destroying it.

She looked... dumbfounded. "Your kidding, right?" she asked, not as a real question but more because she could not believe someone would be so empty headed as to forget her in such a short amount of time. And then he kept talking. And then it became obvious that he was being completely serious when he said he did not remember her. And then he insulted her. Her eyes twitched.

"You know, I was going to take my time with this, play around, make you squirm, feed your own manhood to you," she said, and there was a note of oncoming derangement creeping in. "But you know, now, NOW DAMN YOU, I am just going to kill you. I will not enjoy myself, I will not take great pleasure, I am merely going to RIP you to pieces and feed you to Ash, and take my list of great grudges down to just Emily, who is far more worth my fear then you are of my loathing. You die now. Bye-bye."

Her ranting over she let out a great loud scream and jumped at him with a powerful slash, putting all that Draconic Might into her rage filled state. Damn this Zenjirou, tonight she would not rest until she silenced him forever and enjoyed the taste of his blood.

Zenji smiled, giving her his widest most psychotic smile, shifting to the side, spinning slashing across her side, spinning on his heel to slash directly at her back, making sure that the blade would only slash the fabric a bit. Afterward he started to circle around her again, something was tugging at his memory, what could it be. He banished it from his mind, he needed to concentrate on the fight, kept up his pace walking around her, keeping his bravado up, "Congratulations! You executed an insanely easy to use maneuver, unfortunately it is also easier to dodge and then counter attack. Did no one teach you how to swing a sword, stupid woman, don't wave things around you can't use."

He rushed her, slashing upwards, diagonally from her hip to shoulder, afterward he quickly swings the flat of his blade at her temple, trying to disorient her. Delivering a quick slash at her sword arm afterward, keeping his attacks linked together would give him an advantage over such a unskilled foe, his next attack slashing at her legs, trying to cut down on her mobility. He back off afterward, continuing to circle her, he chuckled, "This is a fun game isn't it? Though I don't think I can kill you... when I can use you for other things... I wonder if I can get away with selling you to that new slaver... hmmm it could be worth a shot if the money is good." He readied himself, she seemed to dislike insults about her being a woman, maybe slave remarks would do the same, after all, slavery was a new kind of death, one that killed your will and pride, which seemed to be all she had.

It was true, she was not as great at fighting with a blade as he was, but she was rather fast and bent herself away from his counter attack and avoiding more then a slight tear in her clothes. She kept her sword up, and if he was trying to be intimidating as he circled her, he might find it odd how she was beginning to act. After her first meeting with him, Diana had become a little unbalanced with the next person she had met. This unbalance did not quite make her insane, as she was still capable of thinking clearly, but it did seem to bring her close. So, as he circled her, all she did was hum to herself, her rage seeming to be hidden away after the first strike.

"Talk as though you'll win again, but I'll be laughing in the end," she said in a mildly sing-song voice. She jumped back as he attacked again, and kept doing so at every attack. She might not possess his skill of the blade, but she did have some skill at quickness and dodging. The best shield is to not get hit, after all. The last attack at her legs received a jump in return and then they were separated again.

She held out a hand. "I think you'd look better on fire," she said, and she cast the fireball spell, sending it straight at him. It was for the most part a distraction, as she followed it quickly and followed with a flurry of attacks. She did not fight with form and focus, she fought with fury, rage, speed and strength, her every move aggressive and wild, going for only the kill. There was a slash at his belly, a slash at his neck, a slash at his leg, a slash at his arms, and unlike him she did not back away after a time. Instead she just kept attacking, trying rather hard to give him no time to counter her. However, if he blocked any of her attacks she would move in close and make a grab with her free hand at his neck.

He mentally cursed himself as he dodged the fireball by ducking to the side, only to see the woman charging in behind it, she was fast. As he went to block the first blow he felt the abnormal strength, strong to, but he didn't move, he stayed his ground, his blade moving perfectly, instead of head on blocks he used the flat of his blade to smack hers away, her strikes were to simple. They were focused on cutting him apart, just a straight force, all he had to do was smack it's side, beat it away quickly, he kept up with her speed easy enough, he relied on his lightning like reflexes to get the job done. He kept up a grin the entire time, he was slowly remembering something... it was something he did a few weeks ago... but what? He ducked as a blow went for his neck, he thrust his blade forward to force her to back up, walking forward as he started his own assault.

He smiled as his blade began weaving around, feinting and beating the flat of her sword, hoping the vibrations would kill her grip. He kept his slashes quick and precise, going for her arms and legs, targeting wider and wider areas, trying to keep her focused on her extremities. He smiled, slashing high at her neck, using the flat of his blade to attack her there, pulling the blade back as he used the momentum for a low kick, trying to force her to fall to the ground, after that it would be mere child's play hopefully.

Diana was fought off. In a battle of strength versus skill both were coming out pretty even, though skill was beginning to show it's worth. She was fast enough to dodge him, including now as he was going on the counter attack. She began backing off, and continued to dodge more then block, but found herself forced to block more often then she would have liked. It was not really going her way, but if she could get this thing closer then at blades length she could turn things around.

Diana did not like it when one particular block made her blade shake in her hands, vibrating and trying to get away from her. But she did not let it go. She found herself better able to dodge, but as his legs came at her from under her. She just barely jumped as she noticed it, her own reflexes lightning fast enough to react. But it gave her quite the opportunity as the kick had left him open. There was no time for a sword slash, but there was room for a kick. She hoped he would not be able to cut her during the kick, and as soon as she landed back from her jump she skipped back and raised her sword.

"No getting me on the ground this time, Zenjirou," she said, smiling darkly.

He saw the foot coming and smirked, thrusting his blade into the ground, letting her kick fall directly into it, though she jumped back before it could get a large cut, though now she would be less likely to dodge. He picked his blade out of the ground and spun it around his body before pointing it at her, "Come on sweet heart, is this all you've got? Some better then average strength and a penchant for blood? It's not enough to kill a real murderer... allow me to show you what a real killer can do." He simply takes up a basic stance, as if he was practicing kendo, the blade in his hands in front of him, his right foot forward.

He ground his feet into the ground before springing forth, slashing down at her shoulder only to twist it into a feint, thrusting the blade as he steps forward, trying to impale her mid section. His quick follow up blows were a feint at her legs to slash at her sword arm. He smirked as he went at her with his next strike, a slash at her side, it was no feint, he had done two in the a row, a third would be expected and plain stupid, so a less flashy attack that could easily be a feint was his best shot.

She cursed up a storm when she cut through her shoe to her foot on his blade. She cursed him up a storm as she backed off, now limping slightly. This was done. She had it. Time to say screw it and let him have it. As he came at her again, slashing for her shoulder, she brought her blade at his with full strength to send it flying away. She was strong enough that it would certainly be hard to keep his grip without dislocating his shoulder, with her Draconic Might on.

Soon as that was done she would use her free hand to grab him by the neck then throw him into one of the trees. She was no longer in a talking mood, her face full of rage and a need for bloodshed. She was not a happy person today, and all she wanted was to rip him apart and be done with it.

She began chanting the next fire ball spell if he hit the tree, and would proceed to throw it at him quickly, not really wanting to move towards him on her bleeding foot. She had the advantage of magic on her side, though she had been using quite a bit and could feel herself tiring. She would not be able to pull these spells up all day.

He smirked as she went to block it, only to frown when he was disarmed, grabbed, and tossed like a child. He flew threw the air and his back rammed into a tree, he felt lucky that his spine wasn't broken. He stood up, his legs shaking, the pain was dull on his back... good, his spine wasn't broken, he looked back to her and saw a fireball coming his way, he grunted and rolled out of the way, watching the tree going up in flames. He looked for his katana, it was lodged in a tree nearby, good, he could get it later. He now walks towards her, a lot slower then before, it seems that the wind has been taken out of his sails. His face twisting into rage and psychotic pleasure at the same time as he draws his original katana, Sangue Lupo, he sneers at her, "You're strong, if someone bothered to teach you any basics you'd stand a chance against me. Now, let me show you what my Sangue Lupo can do... my Bloody Wolf." His labored breathing began to slow, he inched forward.

Once he was within two blade lengths he skipped forward, thrusting his blade, bringing it back quickly for a diagonal slash from her left shoulder to her hip. His blade moved faster then ever now, showing how much skill he had gained since they last met. His blade flicking from slash to feint in a second, using his superior skill to instead work it's way around guards, even the tiniest slash from Sangue Lupo would start a torrent of blood, he just needed to freak her out... then he'd win, just needed to make her weaker, and weaker... her blood must flow. The images flowed back, he smirked, he remembered now, he chuckled as his blade slashed at her shoulder, "I know you now... Diana Sin."

Diana looked at him rather coldly. She did not say anything, and did not so much as mutter. She merely watched him, and waited. Then as he thrust she rolled out of his way, her lightning quick reflexes in action though she hissed in pain as she landed on her foot. It did not matter, she had to ignore it. Stay in the fight. When she came up from her roll she was still partially ducking as his next slash came for her.

This was a moment of do or die, and she went for it, diving for his legs to take him down, her arm going to his foot to twist it and break his ankle if she could. He had cut her foot after all, time to break his ankle in return. As he attacked though she could hear it. He finally remembered, but she was still in no mood to talk back to him, preferring instead to ignore him and go for her breaking his ankle plan.

Zenji sighed, simply hopping to the side, sending a kick at her temple, leaping at an opponent was foolish, your body left the ground, you had no way to stop yourself. After the kick he walked to pick up his sword stuck in the tree, sliding it out sheathed it. Looking back at her, "You disgust me you know that... jumping our reunion so early, I told you we were going to do this when you were stronger, Diana. We'll meet again though, while I haven't beaten you in today's fight, just know that you have gotten better, I am just superior right now. I will be taking my leave, I have things to do Diana, and you can't beat me right now."

He chuckled as he had Sangue Lupo on his shoulder, walking around her, making sure to give her plenty of room, he didn't want to get to close. He turned to her, pointing his blade at her, "Unless you want to keep on going, then I'll simply destroy your will. If you think you're the most evil person in the world, think again, I have been murdering since I was a child, what hope do you have against someone who has killed simply for fun, revenge, and for the sake of art. Now I suggest you pick up your blade, stand up, and walk away, or else I'll do something worse then just kill you." He licked his lips, he wanted to feast on her blood.
