Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

In almost every other surface city, the sight of a Vampire walking around in the company of a worg would be something of a shock. But this was Balefire, and people did not even pay her much mind at all, except the weaker pickpockets who avoided the worg. Diana had been very much blessed on her journey back home by finding the worg, who she now called 'Ash'. For some reason the worg had taken to her almost as well, and both enjoyed the others company.

Ash was staying at Diana's left, her eyes watching people as they passed, looking for potential threats. On Diana's right was the small fire elemental she was found as well, who she called Fira. Being a little ball of fire, Fira made for an excellent lantern herself. Of course, Fira wasn't really a her, but Diana felt she might as well assume a gender for Fira if she was going to stick around.

The darkness of Balefire kept Diana safe from the sun, and though Diana still desired to be free to travel she knew that Balefire was her safest haven and she might as well enjoy it. One day she would really need to buy a house here. She sighed at the thought. There had been another big flaw to being a Vampire, and that was the fact that most people traveled by die, completely ending her career as a Highwaywoman.

It was not so bad, after all her last few tries at robbing people went rather badly, perhaps it was a sign to get out of the business. But she had only saved a little gold over, so before long she would need another source of income. Perhaps there were some calls for professional torturers out there, or maybe she could find some assassination work here in town. That would be worth a look.

Another evening in the dark. Balefire was an okay city, Evals wasn't that much of a fan. Of course she was only acting as an escort for a few members of the Shadow Society that didn't trust the people in Balefire. Non-combatants were always like this, of course. Maybe they should pick up a sword and learn how to use it or something. Maybe they could be useful for something, then. Just maybe.

Evals of course didn't mind, but walking around covered in armaments wasn't something she did all the time. Garaz was at her belt, The Morrigan was strapped to her back with Durak attached to the sheath for holding. Her 'Ice Sickle' was in reserve to The Morrigan in that it was also strapped to her back but upside down so that it could be drawn from near her waist.

Evals sat on a wall that surrounded the yard of some building. One foot was pulled up and resting on the wall while another one was dangling off. She had one hand on her knee and another was on the wall. Her hand on the wall was tapping out a beat that Siaru was playing for her back in Norwood. It was nice, though she was still bored.

Time for random bouts of playing eye-spy with herself! Oh how bored she was while she was waiting. Of course this wasn't going to work out. Okay, time to find something that was.... Undead! She changed her vision to Wraith Sight and looked around. The first one she saw on the street was with a living being. She changed her vision back to normal to get a better view of the person. "Oh hey! I know you! Hi Bandit Lady!" Evals shouted out and waved with a light smile on her face.

Diana had just turned a corner when she heard it. The voice sent shivers up her spine, and she was already turning her head to look as she heard a voice in her head that told her she shouldn't. There she was, the girl who had given her nightmare after nightmare. The reason every punch to her stomach made her scream in agony. Sitting there with a small smile was Emily. Diana stood there tensely watching her.

Diana wanted to say something back with a strong voice. She was a bit stronger now, and a Vampire too. But she did not say something defiant, did not put on a brave face. Instead, she turned around and ran as fast as she could. Ash looked quite confused but followed her vampire, as did the little fire ball Fira. "Nonononononono," said Diana, muttering to herself, her voice much like her face full of fear and she ran into a lantern-less alleyway to hide herself.

She went to a wall and attached herself to a wall. She looked for some way to climb up but this was not Cascadia, most in Balefire had set their buildings up knowing that people would try to climb up and break in. Whatever mind she had had before was gone in favor of panic and terror. Diana found she could not get up from here and turned to go for somewhere else.

Sigh, Kreos wasn't like this. If Kreos saw her he would attack her on site, of course she would rip Kreos limb from limb if she saw him. Just for what he did to her in The Race. Yet, Evals started to think, maybe she deserved that for what she did to him. Didn't mean she would take consequences for her actions, which he made her suffer through. Damn Elves.

Evals reached into her belt and took out a small chess piece. She set it down and had the Black Knight appear. "I want you to take my place escorting some people, they're inside" The Knight nodded and Evals vanished. The Knight shrugged and crossed his arms and lead against the wall. Time to just wait for something to happen, wasn't it?

Evals reappeared in the location where the Bandit was. Then something struck her, since when was the Bandit Undead? Evals hadn't cursed her, had she? Huh... Evals used her Wraith Sight to follow the Bandit. She disappeared again and reappeared at the enterance to the alleyway that her target went inside of. She reverted her vision to normal and tilted her head a bit. "Why are you running away? You didn't miss me?" She asked with curiousity dripping from her voice.

The zombie started to walk down the alley slowly. It was dark in here, but a small fire elemental made it visible enough. "Since when did you become an Undead being? My, you look normal enough.... what are you then? Galit? Vampire? Necro Lord?" Maybe she should test that last one...

As Diana turned, there Emily was. Diana instinctively jumped back, a shocked and horrified look on her face. Soon as she jumped back she hit the wall, but did not complain of the pain. She was trapped with Emily, reliving her nightmares in the realm of reality. "P-please, no closer, Emily," she begged. Ash did not like her vampire looking so frightened, and thus looked at the strange dead smelling girl with a dark growl, putting herself between Diana and the girl, and Fira was muttering something in her unintelligible language as she moved behind Ash and in front of Diana.

Diana was scared enough to run away, but she did not want Ash or Fir hurt in her stead. To avoid conflict she answered. "V-vampire," she said, her lip quivering, wishing she could get away but her spells were not in her head enough to so quickly summon their help, her mind too jolted by fear and panic to be thinking about how to utter an incantation. If she could think straight she might have used the Blink Spell to get away, or at least Draconic Might to break the wall and hope the other side of it was no one's home.

Of course, it was also obvious she would not get away from Emily easily, no matter how desperate she was to do just that. What a nightmare she had found herself in, and this one she could not wake up from.

Evals stopped when she was asked to. She was in a half step but pulled it back. Now staying at this distance until stated otherwise. The Bandit seemed a lot more talkative than last time, willing to answer questions. Maybe she could actually have a conversation with her this time. Not like the Bandit, now vampire apparently, did anything wrong today. Of course playing might cure her boredom.

"I never liked Vampires, really." Evals said with a small shrug. She tolerated them because they didn't really do anything to her most of the time. Not like she had any blood to be drained of anyway. Evals stretched out her mind to make contact with the Bandit's though. Time to test if she was just a normal Vampire. Evals attempted to dominant the mind of the Undead woman in front of her.

Commanding Undead was a simple task for her, if they had no minds. Of course even if they did have them they weren't safe from her reach. It's just that Evals usually let people have their own free will. This was different and keeping the Vampire under her thumb wasn't going to be permanent. "I'd like to know your name." Evals suggested offhandedly. "If you don't mind."

Diana twitched fearfully. She did not like Vampires, and that meant Diana was probably in even more danger. It was bad enough when Emily seemed happy, but she was perhaps a little scarier when she was annoyed. Diana twitched a moment when she felt... something. She had no idea what it was, and it did not affect her much except for feeling it. That was odd, but she was so afraid and focused on Emily that she simply did not care too much about some weird feeling.

When her name was asked from Emily, Diana found it odd how quickly she replied without a thought of her own, or even a stutter. "Diana Selene Sin," she said, clearly. Why had she said her complete name? She never usually did that when anyone else asked for her name. Once more she was too worried to question it, but it was a rather odd thing for her to do. Perhaps she would think more on it when she was not paralyzed with fear.

Ash was still growling at the girl, and looked ready to pounce her with all it's might. Diana wished she were closer to her, hiding her away. The thought occurred to her that she could jump on Ash's back and ride her out fast. Yes, that could work, thought it would be a rough ride and she barely knew a thing about riding on even a horse, let alone a worg. But it would be worth a shot if she could get her chance.

Ah, that was good. Instant response. Now, just what to do with this girl... Evals made a welcoming gesture with one of her hands. "Come over here." She commanded, as gently as possible. "Leave your pets." Was added on. Evals didn't want to have to kill that worg on Diana. That just wasn't nice. Of course she wouldn't mind putting it out of it's misery if it attacked her of course.

The small girl turned to the side and walked towards the wall. She took a seat and leaned her back against the wall. She patted the ground next to her, hoping the Command Undead ability would get past whatever fear that has built up in this woman. Really, what was she so afraid of? "Speak freely, dear. I'd like to know." What she would like to know? Anything, it would probably be amusing coming from this Bandit.

This time Diana realized something was wrong. She tried to resist the commands but found herself unable to. Perhaps if this was their first meeting Diana would have had the willpower to fight against the commands, but she was not of a strong will anymore, especially with Emily. "Stay, Ash, Fira, I'll be fine," she said as she stood straight and walked to Evals without any hesitation outside the fear on her face. Both Fira and Ash could understand her, but both looked confused at the command. Fira obeyed though, while Ash still tried to keep ahead of Diana. "I said stay." Ash tilted her head and then reluctantly pulled back. Something was up but she would keep watch and wait.

Diana sat at the gesture, but she tried her best to lean a little away from Emily as she sat. When the command came to speak freely, Diana felt herself burst with a need to speak her mind. "I'm afraid. How are you doing this? I'd never sit beside you ever again of my own will. Please, don't hurt me. Just tell me what you want to know." Perhaps the only reason she never stuttered was because of the wording of the command, speaking freely.

Diana was coming over, that was good. Of course she was also leaving her pets behind so it would just be them. Sitting together and chitchatting about whatever. Of course this was going to be a strained conversation until Evals could break the bandit out of her shell. She wasn't fond of the zombie, that was for sure. Not many people are, yet there wasn't that much reason to be afraid, was there?

"Why are you afraid? Is it because I'm here?" The question was genuine, Evals didn't see the point of being afraid of someone. Fehade did something horrible to her in the past, she wasn't afraid of him. Vernon was just a bad person in general and she wasn't afraid of him. She touched her arm, she had to replace this because of that damned rat. "Same way I do a lot of things. An Undead mind isn't safe from me, I will tell you that." Unless they were a Necro Lord, of course.

Evals gave a small giggle. "I won't hurt you, unless you attack me or try to steal from me of course. Yet if you try and run I'd probably have to remove your legs to keep you here." Evals said, trying to sound like a friend excited to hang out with her. How long until Diana snapped and tried to get away? "Speaking of that, I will hurt your pets if they interfere." Now... what did Evals want to know. Yet she was distracted when she saw spiders started to mass around them.

Spiders were crawling out from everywhere, Evals glanced around. They followed her naturally, of course. She made a sharp command in a twisted language. She commanded them to leave. Leave her be for now. It wouldn't be long until they started to come back though. The spiders started to retreat, but if looked in the dark corners of the alleyway and in some areas, they were still watching from there.

Diana was about to fully answer the first question but the second allowed her to merely answer, "Yes." It struck Diana how much Emily thought it odd that she was so afraid at even the sight of her. Did she simply not understand the kind of mental damage she had really down to her? Diana had been an emotional mess for a while afterwords, perhaps only going back to being a little more calm and sane once she had been turned into a Vampire.

As she sat there, terrified, her hand unconsciously went over her belly protectively. And as Emily spoke on she shivered and pulled her legs in protectively too. Then she threatened her pets too. "Ash, Fira, you both should go ho-" she said, quickly, but was interrupted by her own small squeak of fear as spiders began crawling out of every surface. Emily called them off, but the image had already sunk itself in Diana's mind of Emily's spiders crawling out of every crack.

She rocked herself back and fourth, and the fear was starting to spark a deranged look in her eye. She hummed a song she herself had made up, as though the sound of it would be a protective barrier from Emily and her horde of spiders. It was a silly thought, like a child trying to dispel the boogeyman. Of course, Diana was starting to feel like a scared little child more and more. How much longer could she hold out against the urge to run?

At least she was honest about it. Evals started to draw invisible circles on the ground next to her. What to do about this. "Dear, you're a small time bandit. Are you going to be afraid of everyone who isn't fodder for you to rob?" Evals inquired. "You might as well stay home and never come out for you risk a chance of running into someone too powerful for you to even scratch. What will you do the day you cross paths with someone that has Unlimited Power? Maybe you already have and you haven't realised it, but what are the chances they won't be as nice as I was? Life is an adventure, no risk no adventure!" Evals got up and brushed her pants off. Balefire was so filthy.

The zombie has relinquished control of Diana's mind and she could make her own decisions from now on. Time to give her some options. Evals stood in front of Diana and offered her a hand to help her up. "You can accept my existence in your life and stop being pointlessly afraid or run now. Either way, I will be there and I could snuff out that small candle fire of life you do have at a whim. Yet only one of these options leads to the true horror that I can bring upon you." That small innocent smile that Evals had used so many times played on her face. Which would the Vampire pick.

There was an honest answer to that question. "No, just you," she said. Perhaps it was that Emily did not realize how frightening she really was. It was not JUST that she had beaten her down, not JUST that she was more powerful. It was more the way she had done it, the way she had made sure to stay in Diana's mind for the rest of her days. She did not just overpower Diana as an enemy, she did it with childish glee, played with Diana like a toy, and all with the body of a young girl. And she did while being the creepiest possible enemy Diana had ever faced. Giant corpse spiders? Threatening but not scary. Hugs from Emily? The most terrifying thing ever.

Diana stood almost as soon as the feeling of release hit her, but she did not yet run. She listened, silent, as Emily gave her two options. Despite the wording, it was basically stick around or run. How did Emily not think of herself as scary as Diana did? As that smile came with the threat that one of those options would lead to more horror then the other, Diana had gained enough fuel for a hundred more nightmares.

"I-I won't run," she said, though it took her some time to feel brave enough to say it. She had a feeling she would still find herself legless if she ran, even if it was now given as a choice. But as she had sat there, talking her mind, she had become just a little more calm, enough to think more and panic less at least. She knew attempting to escape her would simply be useless anyway, why punish herself further by trying it?

Evals clapped, even if Diana had refused her hand. "Smart." Evals complimented and turned around and walked away a little bit. Looks like she wouldn't have to cut off the girl's legs then! This was going to be easy. Probably fun depending on the options that Evals continued to feed her. "Now then..." She started and looked up at the dark sky.

Eternal night was with them, both of them were immortal. Diana just had to feed but Evals could keep her here for almost as long as she liked. "Since you won't run, what will you do next?" This one was a bit more freeform in what Diana could do. Yet Evals felt like giving some options for her to think about. "You could remain silent and bore me. Not sure how that'd turn out. You could try to attack me to extract revenge. Anything you can think of. What will it be, Diana? Think of this like a game." Evals turned around after finishing and cast two spells at Diana.

The first was harmless all by itself, yet it was highly Empowered by her skill, training as an Archmage, a magical object that she held that made dark spells more powerful and pure talent as a magician. The first spell would make any attacks against her be much, much more powerful than they were. Dark Omen. The next spell was one Diana had cast on Evals last time they met. The same effects taking to this spell. Inflict Minor Wounds. The two spells would take a small while to cast, but Evals didn't need to do anything to cast her spells anymore. "Of course, what would a game be if there wasn't a risk of losing?" The zombie child giggled out.

Diana was thinking of how to answer her when Emily spun around and cursed her so fast she did not know what to do. She did not know what she did first, though a dark feeling came over her. "What are you-" she began, but then the second one hit and she screamed in pain. Diana had not even been a novice with her magic when she cast spells on people, while Emily was probably a master. Her spells had been silent, at least, and that was a bad sign all on it's own.

She crumpled to the ground. She had not dreamed of fighting Emily, but pain had a good way of shaking her up. She lifted an arm at Emily and began muttering the fireball spell, sending the ball of flame at Emily's stomach, her eyes now showing anger mixed with her fear.

Ash had enough now and jumped in once Diana was attacked, biting at Emily's arm and made to rip it off. Fira also started to act, and hovered upwards and threw a fire ball at Emily's head, the fire non magical in nature but would still leave quite a burn. Seems Diana would be fighting whether then would have been her choice or not.
