Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

He growled, firing another arrow, another kill, these men were bandits... though there seemed to be a unity to their movements, maybe ex-military... or maybe their leader was a young commander gone rogue to seize power out in the desert. He shook the thoughts from his head, it didn't matter, he dodged to the side, an arrow flying by, only to see one of the archers draw a dagger and rush him, he was fast and kept low to the ground, good movements to, serpentine slightly to make archery harder, though at his level of skill... it was still nothing. He knocked an arrow and fired it, the man's serpentine skills were only decent... repetitive, he simply fired where he would be a second later. He knocked his next arrow and fired it just as his last arrow struck the man in the chest, dropping him into the sand, the arrow just launched smacked into the man's stomach, not a fatal wound, he had rushed the shot, he fired a second time, hitting his upper chest, good enough.

With the archers taken care of he turned his attention back to the caravan, he growled, he saw Rin, the sentries, and the self-proclaimed demon slowly being surrounded by the slavers. He took aim with each shot, carefully placing an arrow into the backs, sides, and chests of any foes he saw trying to circle around to their backs, as long as he kept those clear, he could let them fight it out as he looked for the leader, he had to be around here somewhere. He felt pain in the back of his head as he dropped to the ground, what had hit him... he looked back up to see a man wearing black robes and wielding scimitar, he must have cracked him over the head with the hilt. The robed man glared at him and spoke, "Get up, you have killed many of my men, now I shall kill you slowly... without your bow you are nothing old man..." He looked at the robed man as he stood up... he recognized him, he was in charge of the caravan's goods and course plotting, so that was how they found them.

Tand raised his fists, he wasn't going down without a fight, he looked around and saw his bow, it was just behind him. He took a step back, his feet slightly sinking into the sand he waited there for only a moment before the man thrust his blade forward, he turned to the side and grabbed his arm, pulling his arm with him as he fell backwards, sending them both down the sand dune towards the caravan. He hooked the bow with his foot as they fell and tumbled down, he got lucky and ended up on top, he punched the man's face three times before getting off of him, he picked up his bow and knocked another arrow, firing it down into the man's heart. He rushed around the side, hoping to find his comrades still unharmed.

His dancing had no effect against the bandits and slavers. He heard a scream from some of the caravan as smoke began to rise. A large shadowy figure rose from what was slowly becoming rubble. Fen cracked his knuckles, "you have to be kidding me. The slaver's boss is here?" He nodded to Rin to keep fighting the bandits and drew his blade. Diving through the bandits, Hopping location to location showcasing his somewhat pitiful acrobatics skill. He ran around the side of the caravan and saw a slaver demon. "Heh, you are the most despicable kind of demon. You have no code, no honor!" He lunged at the monster as it parried all of his blows. As it attempted to strike back he feigned injury as he narrowly avoided the blow. Smirking he jumped up and ran his blade into it's shoulder.

It growled at Fen, "damn you.. You weakling.." Laughing at the demon's obvious joke, he spun around the beast and wrapped his arms around it's neck. Pulling back towards him as to cut off it's air supply. "Anyone who can't hold a weapon and fight! Get to Tand!" The demon flailed trying to get the 'weakling' off his back. It's blade had hit Fen's already injured side.

Damn it, my wound is open again! I have to keep calm and hold this thing at bay until Tand or Rin can finish it!

He reached around with his left arm and grabbed his blade from the demon's shoulder and he shoved it into his back. Narrowly missing it's spine, it became enraged and dove backwards pinning Fen between a caravan wall and his own sword. "You haven't won, I'm not that weak.."

The next slavers to approach the girl were far more cautious than the brethren, having witnessed the waif slaughter them mere moments before. Rin choose this opportunity to take the fight to them, charging at the three men with a wild light in her eyes. She skid to a halt just outside of the range of the first man as he swung at her with a weighted cudgel, the hardened wood whistling by her ear. The wild maneuver left his defenses completely open as Rin darted forward, stabbing at his heart with Excalibur. The glowing blade left his leather armor completely untouched, yet his face was still drawn with pain as it effortlessly seared through his flesh to pierce the organ. He coughed up blood as he fell and the girl withdrew the blade, but by now the other two bandits had surrounded her, making it impossible to fight one without losing track of the other.

The man on her right chose to strike first, hurling a throwing knife at the girl at point-blank range. She whipped her entire body to one side, but not quite fast enough; the blade sliced a clean line across her outer arm. Rin hissed in annoyance but did not seem to actually feel the pain from the wound. The knife wobbled through the air and struck the bandit on the opposite side, eliciting a cry of shock from the man. The construct took advantage of his distraction to jump forward at the knife-wielder, Excalibur humming as it cut through the air. The slaver dodged the blow nimbly, crouching and slashing upward with a dagger. Rin met this slash with her forearm; the ribbons wrapped around her limb shimmered for a moment before they transformed into flawless steel plate. The blade bounced off of the deceptive protection, leaving the slaver's defenses down for a mere breath. It was long enough; Rin drew the energy sword across the man's eyes, blinding him and knocking his howling form onto his back.

The girl turned in time to see her last opponent charging with a brutal roar and holding a massive battleaxe over his head. Rimply stepped aside as he swung, missing the ax entirely. The bandit's momentum was too great for him to readjust to her new location and he barreled ahead, crashing into his ally's screaming form. The man went down with a shout, his loos robes tangling around his legs as he rolled to a halt. Rin skipped over to the fallen opponent and slammed the ruby-encrusted pommel into the back of his head before he could recover, humming happily as he slumped to the ground. She looked up from the prone figure, twirling the energy sword as if it were a baton instead of a deadly weapon she had used to mercilessly incapacitate or kill five men.

Rin skipped through the caravan that had become a battleground, eyes searching for a new opponent. She quickly found Fen pinned by a large demonic entity to a wagon, struggling against the fell creature's strength. She immediately hurtled forward, slashing the glowing holy weapon towards the back of the creature's neck with a speed and ferocity that seemed alien for the slight girl.

Tand turned the corner and saw Rin charging the demon, he grabbed an arrow and shot it into the side of it's head, he heard it scream for only a second before turning into ash, carried off by a sudden gust of strong wind. Cheering could be heard from among the caravan as the wounded raised their spears and swords, cheering 'Black Bowman,' he found that odd and looked at himself, completely in shadows with only the black bow shimmering in the moonlight. He took a few steps out and chuckled, "Sorry folks, I'm not tha' black bowman, just a man on his way to Istan, I'd appreciate it if ya didn't treat me special or anythin'." They laughed and cheered as the wounded were treated, it had been a miracle that none had died... another successful operation thanks to his quick actions in killing the archers first.

He plucked his arrows from the ground and placed a hand on Fen's side, "Healing winds." The wind stirs yet again, collecting in his palm as he forces it into the wound, causing a slight sting as it stitches up again. Tand went over to Rin, placing a hand on her arm, "Healing winds." He chuckled as he patted her head, "Yer a good fighter Rin, don't let anyone tell ya different, whenever you feel like takin' up tha' bow, find me and I'll teach ya all I know." He went around to the wounded, using his healing magic until he was ready to collapse, going back to sit down at his little rug, drinking from a canteen. He felt good... better then he had in a while, he turned to Fen, "I'm no coward boy, I just prefer ta' fight smart, there's a difference between a knight and a soldier, I'm a soldier, I fight with a plan, my goal is to survive and save as many lives as I can... think about that before ya judge anyone else. Yer a smart kid, a bit naughty, and a decent swordsman. I'd suggest polishin' yer skills in Istan City, plenty of good teachers there." He went back to drinking from his canteen, it had been a long night.
