Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The Imythessian Lion; [P] Kemi, Totally not a rip-off of the Nemean Lion...

The beast paused to sniff at the air, its eyes glowing sullenly in the fading light of dusk. A soft purr escaped its throat, although it was not like any noise a normal animal would make. This sound was more of a clanking whirr. It stalked through the abandoned streets of Kellen, each footstep accompanied by a soft jangle. The illumination provided by the lanterns gleamed off of its golden hide, a streak of bright color in the shadowy streets.

Although lions were known to prowl the Istani savannah and the Debon grasslands, this creature was completely unique in Imythess, and far more dangerous than its normal cousins. Its flanks were not made of bones and muscles and skin, but instead layer after layer of complex machinery. Cogs ground together in the depths of its chest, and its muscles consisted of coiled machinery. It skin was crafted of hardened gold, the thick plates offering it a encompassing layer of protection. Its tail was a short length of chain that jerked unnaturally, a thick ball of gold attached to the tip so that it resembled a morningstar. The lion's mane was made from twisted shards of metal, melded together in a twisted caricature of natural hair. The mechanical monstrosity was powered by some strange combination of clockwork, steampower, and magic.

It raised its head to the night sky and roared, the howl echoing with an unnatural metallic ring.

The girl was not exactly a sight one expected to see on the road. Her only typical article of clothing was a thin white sundress, leaving her shoulders, arms, and most of her legs bare. Silvery ribbons were wrapped around her forearms and shins, and she wore no shoes to speak of. The girl hummed as she walked, and she didn't seem to notice or care that most of the notes were dreadfully dissonant. She had no visible weapons, just a worn leather satchel slung over one shoulder. Her skin was fair and smooth, with only one distinguishing mark: an elaborate tattoo on her left shoulder. She had blonde hair that stretched to her shoulder blades, the golden locks framing a face so perfect and symmetrical it almost appeared sculpted.

Rinrae Dromigg was incredibly fond of the Debon Plains. She could wander through the meandering pathways endlessly, and there would always be some new piece of flora or fauna to examine. Her curiosity knew no bounds, and there was plenty to see in the expansive grasslands. Her wandering path had finally led her to her destination: Kellen, the village of horses. She could sense that another one of the Grand Grimoire's pages was squirreled away within the town's borders... but she had no idea where. Being an artificial construct of the sentient book, Rin had a connection of sorts with its lost fragments that allowed her to dowse for their location. It was only a rough estimation of their presence, and all she could sense was that one page was somewhere within the sprawling village.

The girl stretched as she entered the town itself, but her attention was almost immediately caught by a freshly-written signed nailed to a nearby wall. A cursory examination of the street revealed that the signs were plastered or attached to the walls of the buildings every few feet. She frowned and leaned in closer to the sign, blue eyes quickly scanning its contents. The sign was advertising a reward for any individual brave or skilled enough to slay a beast that was preying on the city by night. Three innocents had been mauled to death by the creature already, and no one was quite sure what was responsible for the attacks. Rin pursed her lips, her eyes narrowing as she absentmindedly tore the notice off of the wall and tucked it into her satchel.

The Beast of Kellen, ha. What a load this was turning out to be. Out of all of the things to start killing people in this village again it was some kind of monster this time. This village should honestly just move. Just take Kellen and push it somewhere else! Somewhere else where all of these town raiders, zombie invasion, demon spawns, aliens and anything else the world has thrown at them wouldn't be able to find them. Maybe then they wouldn't be killed all the time. Either that or they actually find a way to defend themselves from the random horrors of the world.

Of course this beast itself, what in the world was it? The zombie child reread the piece of paper that could be found all over the village. She held it in her hands and close to her face. Leaning against the side of her wagon, which was idly parked on the side of the street with a giant spider in the front, she laughed at the paper. They didn't even know what it was! Calling it a beast was a silly concept, it could just be a very talented serial killer. Has she ever met one of those before? What were the signs of the crazed men going around axe-murdering people?

Probably an ex-priest or something.

Evals stuffed the paper into her pocket roughly before pulling her body forward. With a spin on the front of her foot, she turned to face her wagon. Grabbing at the tarp that covered it, she started to climb on top of it. Pulling herself up, she sat on the edge to get a view of all of the people around her. “Alright you sissies!” She shouted to the entire street, trying to get their attention. “thing tonight. Feel free to come and assist me. Your safety isn't guaranteed!” Well that was that, hopefully more people would show up that she could use as fodder.

One last thing dawned on her. “I will of course not show up tonight if someone pays me a reasonable enough amount not to!” Now that was some proper thinking right there. If it was a serial killer that didn't want to get caught, they might pay up and then she'd hopefully have more money than the reward. Then if it wasn't enough she could always turn in that person to get the reward. With a small leap, she jumped off the top of the wagon. With a small thud she landed on the ground and wondered what in the world was she going to do until this evening. This was probably going to be a wild night either way, though.

The girl was walking past the town square when she saw a strange sight. There was a large wagon across the square that was hitched to what appeared to be a gigantic spider. Rin rubbed her eyes in disbelief, staring at the large arachnid as if she feared for her sanity. She raised closed her eyes and rubbed her eye sockets until they watered, but when she opened them the large spider was still there. Unable to control her rampant curiosity, Rin wandered across the square towards the insect. It had been attached to the cart in a curious fashion, typical reins and bridles obviously useless on the massive insect. She halted a few feet away from the spider, silently working up the courage to approach the creature and examine it more closely.

She never got the opportunity, because before she could walk closer an odd girl leaped on top of the wagon. She seemed to be younger than Rin, garbed in all black and with skin so pale it looked to be carved from marble. Her hair was long and brown, although it also appeared to be tangled and matted beyond repair. She loudly shouted out to the crowd, offering her service to hunt down the beast and asking if anyone planned on assisting her. The construct looked around to see if anyone was going to offer their services, but none of the denizens of Kellen seemed willing to help this odd, goth-like girl hunt down the creature. They were almost paralyzed with fear at the prospect of confronting whatever stalked the streets at night.

Rin stepped forward instead, smiling brightly at the odd girl. "I can help! I will be safe!" Her eyes were bright with curiosity and interest. Although she did not know if the creature was actually a byproduct of a page's manipulation, odd occurrences often accompanied the appearance of the Grimoire's fragments. It would be helpful to have someone else to assist her in the hunt. The crowd murmured at this odd combination; the two girls did not look like they were up to the task of hunting down a deadly creature. Rin went to stand next to the massive arachnid, staring into its beady eyes and completely ignoring the oblivious . The crowd soon began to disperse, murmuring about the folly of sendind two teenage girls after something that had already mauled several people to death.

Rin looked up suddenly, smiling brightly at the girl on top of the wagon. "My name is Rin. Why did you offer to accept money not to hunt for the beastie?" She was apparently not bothered by her close proximity to a creature that would usually inhabit a teenage girl's nightmares.

Well that was that, the crowd started to disperse. If they were so upset about two young girls then why didn't they do anything on their own? Damn Kellenese. So useless. Evals turned towards the girl that said she would help. Who was this person? "I hope you're telling the truth." She said and moved to the back of the wagon. Pulling the tarp off to the side and the wooden guard down, Evals peered inside.

There was quite a bit of stuff, what was the zombie going to be using against whatever was going to be there tonight? "Because," She started as she pulled a box towards her and opened the top of it. "If it's just a person going around killing people, they won't want to get caught." Inside the box was Garaz, her rapier. She pulled it out and pulled it out of it's sheath quickly. The Rapier was a favorite of hers, she got it from Seth. "If they don't want to get caught they will probably pay up more than the reward." She attached the sheath for Garaz to her belt.

Putting the lid back on the box, she pushed it off to the side as she grabbed another one. This box was strapped down a lot more securely. The Morrigan, is what she called it. "Then after that, I can always capture or kill this person and turn them in for the reward as well." Pulling the Longsword like Blade out of it's box, she unsheathed this one first as well. While holding it in her hand, the ground beneath her started to dry out and crack from it's mere presence. She put it away and slug this one on a strap over her back.

Just throwing that box to the side, Evals pulled herself up into the wagon and grabbed a shield that was sitting on top of another box. She attached this to the sheath on her back before jumping out of the wagon. "And then all will be right with the world." She finished explaining and looked at the girl. Wondering if that was satisfactory enough for her. Evals pushed the wood guard back up on the wagon and jumped to reach the tarp that was pushed off to the side. She hopefully wouldn't need much else in there tonight.

Rin watched with interest as the girl opened up her wagon, searching inside the vehicle for several items. The first weapon she withdrew was a well-made rapier, a type of blade the construct had never personally attempted to use. The next sword she chose was much more frightening; it had a twisted, deformed appearance. Rin took a step back from the slight girl as the grass underneath her feet began to wither, the blades turning brown and shriveling. The construct opened her mouth to ask what was happening when the other girl cheathed the blade once more, halting the environmental damage. Instead she pursed her lips, blowing a strand of blonde hair out of her eyes.

This girl may be more dangerous than she appeared, Rinrae...

The girl mentally nodded in agreement with the Grimoire's assessment, eyes narrowing almost imperceptibly as her partner withdrew a shield from the wagon as well. Instead of drawing the longsword from her satchel the girl curled her fingers in mid-air as if she already held the hilt of a sword. "Laevateinn." There was an odd, sucking sound as air was displaced and reality blurred around the girl's slight frame. In an instant she held one of the least practical weapons ever designed. The hilt of the sword was two feet itself, with a wide crossguard and a ruby pommel carved in the shape of a dancing flame. The blade itself was almost six feet long, a flame motif carved along the razor-sharp edges and ancient runes etched into the flat of the blade. Rin carefully balanced the massive greatsword on one shoulder, smiling warmly at her companion despite the kernel of mistrust she felt. There was an obvious hint of excitement in her voice when she spoke. "Let's hunt a monster!"

That night Rin was crouched on the rooftop of the Green Gryphon Inn, staring out over the village. Their plan was simple; she would keep an eye out from the upper reaches of the city and act as their eyes and ears while Evals could hunt the creature from the streets. Although the construct was loathe to put another person in harm's way, she doubted that her companion would be in real danger. Evals might appear to be a small girl, something about her set Rin's teeth on edge. She did not doubt that the girl would be able to defend herself if necessary.

The girl's thoughts were interrupted by a flash from an adjoining alleyway. For a moment it had seemed as if the light of the lanterns was being reflected off a golden surface. Rin frowned and quickly jogged over to a different corner of the building, staring into the thin alley. Although the street was empty, Rin caught another flash of gold from the next street over. Rin whistled shrilly to get Eval's attention, pointing in the direction of the disturbance with her giant sword. The girl summoned a small fire along the edge of the blade, turning the weapon into a flickering beacon. They had decided that the flaming greatsword would indicate that she had spotted something unnatural. The girl started in that direction on the rooftops, her eyes shining with anticipation.

Lets hunt a monster, sure. If one existed.

After a few hours, night fell. Evals was scouting the streets as they agreed upon in their planning. The streets were vacant, even more so than Kellen normally was during the night. Not only that, it was quiet... too quiet. And dark... too dark. Wait, I'm not doing this joke. No way. Not happening. Evals regained focus on the street and just patrolled. Wondering if they would have to be repeated for a few nights, they obviously announced they would be out tonight. Yet who'd believe two small girls.

Just as Evals turned around a corner, she heard a loud whistle. That was Rin. Turning around, the zombie walked back onto the street she was just on to see Rin. Her sword was on fire, that was the signal. That was still a ridiculously huge sword... She hoped it worked well for the frail girl! Evals started to run to where Rin was pointing at.

Upon reaching the street, she saw something shiny go around the corner. "Blast." She said before casting Blink. Evals vanished and reappeared down the road and looked around the corner. It was a.... Lion? A large metal lion. She resisted bluntly questioning it's existence to avoid getting it's attention, but it still noticed her and turned around. Metallic teeth bared.

Rin trotted along the edge of the rooftops as Evals dashed ahead below, careful to keep her balance on the rooftops. She came around the corner to see another flash of gold dart around the next corner and bit her lip in frustration. Hopefully this was what they were here to hunt... Otherwise they would just waste a lot of time and energy chasing this oddity. She paused at the street corner, unsure of how to proceed... to continue following the disturbance she would have to jump to the next rooftob, a distance of at least ten feet... But then again, she did have an eight foot long sword. Rin grinned and backed away from the gap as Evals continued after their target, holding the greatsword more like a lance than any bladed weapon. She sprinted at the edge of the rooftop, lowering the tip of the massive sword at the last instant so the steel crashed through the shingles. Ignoring the cry of protest from the house's unlucky inhabitant, the girl jumped straight up, using the length of the sword like she was pole vaulting. Instead of releasing the hilt, she simply dragged it out of the roof as she hurtled across the gap, skidding to a halt on the opposite roof. Rin grinned and continued to follow after Evals, the flat of the massive blade held against one shoulder for stabilization.

When she reached the next street the construct stopped in surprise, staring at the sight before her. Her companion was facing down the oddest creature that Rin had yet to encounter in Imythess. A massive quadrupedal beast, every inch of its body seemed to be sculpted out of gold. Its limbs had a series of coils and hydraulics obviously meant to mimic living muscle, and its skin had been made out of thick plats that would doubtlessly protect its innards. The lion growled at Evals, sounding more like the clanking of chains than any natural noise. The entire beast reeked of the Grimoire's power, the reality-bending powers of the tome giving life to its every movement. The lion began to stalk towards Evals, baring teeth that were as long and sharp as daggers. The construct paused, staring at the beast and biting her lip. This... this is much more powerful than should be possible. No one should be able to manipulate the pages this well. Its movements are nearly seamless...

This is not the first time we have seen a mechanical creation that goes far beyond the normal capabilities of a single page...

Rin's eyes flashed with anger as she recalled the odd man who had escaped her once before, someone who had collected several of the Grimoire's lost fragments and used them to create a massive labyrinth in the middle of the Istan Desert. Could it be the Tinkerer? The Grimorie did not answer, nor did she expect it to. They still barely knew anything about the enigmatic, bespectacled man. With a shout Rin jumped off of the roof, Laevateinn raised over her head in both hands. She plummeted to the ground twenty feet below, swinging the massive greatsword forward in a huge arc as she fell. The lion looked up and attempted to spring away from the unexpected attack, but she still managed to catch its legs with a resounding crash. The honed edge of the blade cut deeply into the mechanical limb, the fire wreathing the steel melting the adjacent hydraulics and golden plate.

The mechanical lion roared as it bounded away from Rin, limping. She glanced at Evals and flashed a calm smile at the other girl. "Looks like there is a monster." Her grin faltered as she returned her attention to the lion. The wound in its leg seemed to be preparing itself, molten gold flowing into the gash and almost instantly reforming the damaged components. After a few seconds the limb seemed to be as good as new, once more supporting the creature's massive weight as it began to stalk around the two girls. She hefted Laevateinn and watched the beast warily, blue eyes cold and ruthless. If this was the work of the Tinkerer, she would make sure to catch him this time.

So what to do about this thing... Then Rin appeared, giant flaming blade in hand. Looks like the metallic lion was already injured. This should be an easy fight. "Heh, too bad. Could've made more money off of something else." Evals said and brought her attention to full on the lion. It was moving properly again, it had repaired itself? Or was the wound simply not that bad? Evals would have to see for herself, she supposed.

The lion waited only a moment before attempting to pounce on the zombie. Claws and teeth ready to rip her flesh apart. The zombie could only respond by attempting to draw her sword. The weight of the beast fell on her and she toppled down onto the ground. One beasts claws only barely blocked by Garaz, which now had it's tip driven into the ground. It's other claw had simply missed and hit the ground, fortunately.

The beast's maw was closed around her defending hand, a horrible growl coming from deep within the metal monstrosity. "Get it off me!" Evals called for help, despite it probably already coming. She couldn't fight it while on her back, though she did pull her feet up and attempt to push the lion off of her with her feet, to no anvil. It was too heavy.

Rin tried to swipe her greatsword at the mechanical monstrosity as it lumbered past, but it possessed a grace that was incongruous with its heavy construction. The tip of Laevateinn barely managed to scrape the beast's ribs before it lunged at Evals, claws flashing as it attacked the other girl. She managed to half-draw the rapier before being thrown to the ground by the lion's weight, struggling to keep the monster from disemboweling her and crying out for the construct's assistance.

She was quick to comply, charging at the lion and slamming her entire body weight into its metal frame. She held the greatsword in front of her, holding the hilt with one hand and lying her other palm against the flat of the blade so she could slam the entire length of the sword into the beast. It rolled off of Evals, but as it did so it lashed out with one large paw, claws hooking around the edge of the greatsword. Rin swore vehemently as it tore the weapon from her grasp, sending the blade flying across the street. The flames on the blade faded almost instantly, but its momentum was still sufficient to punch a hole in the wall of the house it impacted.

The construct didn't have enough time to truly react to the loss of the weapon, as the lion was already striking again. She jumped over its swipe, leaping forward to balance on its golden shoulder for just a moment. She sprang off of the lion before it could dislodge her, but was forced to jump in the opposite direction of her weapon in order to avoid its flailing, mace-like tail. As it was the appendage was still fast enough to land a glancing blow on her unprotected shoulder. She landed in a roll, coming to her feet in a crouch. "Evals! Any chance you can distract the kitty?"

The mass of metal rolled off of the zombie and then changed it's hostility to Rin. That was much more preferable, in Evals' opinion. Shifting her body weight, she moved onto her knee. Repositioning the rapier in her hand, she lunged it forwarded as Rin jumped off of the lion. The sword pieced the beast's stomach and came out the other side. Frost started to coat over the metal that was touching the blade. "I'm trying!" She replied and turned to Rin.

In her quick moment of being distracted, the lion's body twisted and pulled Garaz right out of her hand. She quickly snapped her attention back to the lion. Her sword still stuck in it's torso, at an upward angle. That wasn't what she was concerned about though. It was the mace ball of a tail that was flying right at her. Evals moved to try and jump away, only too late. She took the mace right to the side of the head.

Her small body was lifted off of the ground from the force, half of her skull crushed from the impact. She landed on the ground a few feet away. She lied on the ground, processing what had just happened to her. Even if she didn't feel pain, it was still a bit dizzying to have that happen to her. Only moments after getting hit, black mist started to rise up from the heavy wound as it started to heal itself. "Damn lion." She muttered, before leaning up to get a baring of what is going on at the moment.

The other girl lunged at the lion, her rapier effortlessly piercing its side and thrusting through the entirety of its body. The lion switched its attention from the construct to Evals, roaring as it twisted and tore the weapon from her grip. Rin was not paying attention anymore; after the lion had looked away she had immediately thrown herself forward in a somersault, tumbling past the lion towards her abandoned weapon. She scooped up Laevateinn at the same time there was a sickening crunch from behind her. Rin whirled around to see Evals' body flung across the street, her skull caved in from where the lion's tail had connected with her flesh. The girl gasped in horror as her companion was flung to the ground, but she had little time to show remorse; the lion was already jumping back at her...

Rin ducked under its initial lunge, scarping the edge of the greatsword along the lion's flank as its claws missed her by mere inches. Bolts and nuts littered the ground around her as the lion landed heavily, staggering for a moment. The rapier was still stuck through its body, frost spreading outwards from the entrance and exit points of the blade. The construct backed away from the lion, holding Laevateinn like a spear as she glanced over her shoulder to see if Evals was still breathing. She almost dropped the sword in shock when she saw the other girl was rising to her feet, the mortal wound healing as Rin watched. "What... How... Are you ok?" She asked the last question weakly as the black mist coalesced around her concave skull, fixing the damage.

The lion took advantage of her momentary distraction to jump at the girl... who met its charge with the tip of the greatsword. The sheer force of the mechanical beast's jump impaled its own shoulder on the sword, two whole feet of the blade sinking into the golden, metallic contraption. The Rin let go of the hilt immediately, throwing herself out of the way as the lion crashed into the building behind her. Now the beast had two sword sticking out of its body, which seemed to have almost no effect on its mobility or ferocity. The construct huffed in annoyance, retreating back from the lion weaponless once more. "Um... ideas?" She reached into her satchel, quickly drawing her longsword and brandishing it in both hands.

Evals stood up as she watched Rin backed away from the lion. She turned her attention to the lion and saw it healing itself again. This thing was stubborn. In short time, the lion jumped at Rin and got her large sword impaled in it's body. It just came out of the wall crashed into. Evals didn't give Rin a glance this time and focused on the lion. "Magic." Was the entire answer she gave Rin before the lion decided to lunge at it's no longer motionless prey.

Evals ran to the side and got distance from the lion. Not wanting to let it tackle her again. "Stab it more." Was Evals idea as she drew The Morrigan off of her back. She took a stance and held the cruel blade in two hands. It's main effect wouldn't be as threatening to a lion made out of metal. Even now, below her the ground started to crack and dry out. The small amounts of grass died pretty quickly.

The golden lion sprang up in another lunge, yet aimed at Rin. The zombie girl decided to tackle mass of gears, pistols and bolts. With her sword. She jumped directly into the beast and stabbed her blade through the lion's body. It fell on it's side with Evals on top of it. She was about to pull the sword through the body before a metal claw pushed her off of it. "Like that." She explained now a few feet away with a huge claw cut across her stomach, shirt torn. As the lion stood up, Evals held out her hand. "Garaz." She called and the rapier inside of the metal flesh ripped itself out and returned to the girl's hand. "Now we rinse and repeat."

Rin glanced at Evals with a rather odd combination of emotions. She wasn't exactly sure who this girl was, but her strength and abilities were easily on par with the construct's, if not greater. Furthermore, she had healed from a mortal injury like it was nothing... what was up with that? Although she had experienced several powerful magic users while traveling around Imythess, never before ahs she met someone whose wounds healed instantly, with no visible exertion or focus. "Ok... I can always stab it more." Rin prepared to do just that as the lion jumped towards her, but Evals intercepted the beast mid-flight. The slight girl somehow managed to tackle the mechanical monstrosity to the ground, stabbing into its flank with her twisted blade.

She watched as Evals retreated, summoning her rapier back to her hand. Interestingly enough, the withering effects of her weapon seemed to be having some sort of effect on the lion. Its healing properties could not completely stop the ruinous influence, so a patch of rust remained on its metal flesh surrounding the terrible blade. Rin gave the beast no time to recover, slashing her longsword across the lion's eyes. It roared at her, but she was not entirely surprised to see that the attack had no effect on the animal. It swiped a paw at the girl; instead of parrying she jumped over its claws, landing lightly on its shoulder and stabbing directly towards the base of its neck. However, the tip of the blade merely rebounded off of the spiky metallic mane, and she was forced to jump back off of the lion before it could bring its deadly tail into play.

"Fear not little girls! We shall save you!" The girl glanced over her shoulder to see a group of four men rushing towards the battle, all of them brandishing weapons and wearing thick suits of armor. The crest on their breastplates was a red gross surrounded by golden flames, a sigil that reminded her of the paladin Dain. Their expressions reminded her of him as well; they seemed shocked that two small girls were able to hold their own against the beast, and there was a hint of arrogance in their confident smiles "Now that you have flushed out the beast we shall vanquish it to the Abyss!"

Rin parried one of the lion's swipes instinctively, still watching the men with a mixture of amusement and shock. "... What?" But they did not reply; one of the men pushed Rin aside as he ran directly at the lion, shouting and swinging a warhammer around above his head, while the othwers spread out around the beast. Rin looked at Evals, her confusion apparent in her blank expression.

Evals took a moment to think about what to do with this lion. Surprisingly enough The Morrigan was having an effect on it's healing properties, how could that be used? The girl was about to speak up with an idea before she was interrupted by a male voice behind her. Only having to turn her head slightly, her increased peripheral vision allowed her to see the foolish people that have gathered. Evals stepped out of the way as they came through.

The men started to fight with the lion and the zombie kept a safe watching distance. "Well, lets see if these folk can actually do anything to it." She mentioned and lowered her guard. Giving a moment to remember that she had an idea. "Oh!" She piped up with some surprise. "Try and hit it and break off junks where it's metal is rusted!" She shouted to the men.

To be completely honest, Rinrae was getting tired of being treated like a child. Apparently her appearance and friendly demeanor suggested that she was incapable of defending herself. Had these men not been paying attention at all? Had they not seen her wound the lion, or jump off of the rooftops while waving around a sword taller than she was? Clearly they hadn't, because they seemed devoted to keeping her out of the fray. One of them was even standing in between herself and the mechanical monstrosity as if he could protect her against its golden claws and hydraulic-powered jaws. The vigilante with a warhammer slammed the blunt weapon into the lion's head, which immediately rebounded off of its flesh and left his defenses completely open. The manufactured feline snarled and twirled so that its spiked tail slammed into his chest, sending that man flying backwards with a pained outburst.

The construct heard Evals shout out advice to the men. Rin glanced at the girl and saw, to her great surprise, that none of them seemed to think the younger female need protection. Her blue eyes narrowed dangerously at the insult; clearly even this prepubescent girl was more capable of defending herself from the lion! The anger that had been kindled in the construct's mind flared to life, a rage that made it almost impossible for her to speak. When the mechanized feline dashed in her direction the girl was almost glad for the distraction it gave her. The man who was trying to shield her from the battle raised his shield to block the lion's assault, a useless gesture that ended in the wooden surface being ripped in two. Before the creature could slay the imbecile Rin grabbed onto his shoulders, using his body as a handhold in order to launch herself into the air. The momentum of this action threw the man to one side so that the lion's clacking jaws slammed shut on empty air instead of his jugular. "Idiot!"

Time seemed to slow for the girl as she flipped through the air above the lion, curling the fingers of her right hand into a fist. The construct's anger and determination to defeat this creation combined into one, and the air around her seemed to blur as she converted that conviction into reality-warping power. She had never utilized this weapon before, but she had read a description of it in one of the Grimoire's pages that she had recollected. "Vajra!" A set of golden knuckles formed around her fist, the metal shimmering oddly in the night. When she fell on the lion's back she slammed her fist into its skull with all the strength she could muster. The impact was accompanied by two unexpected effects: a flash of light as a burst of electricity emanated from the knuckles and a deafening crack! like a thunderclap that echoed throughout the streets of Kellen. The men that had joined their battle fell back in surprise, holding their hands to their ears at the tumultuous cacophony wrecked their sense of sound. Rin jumped off of the lion's back as lines of electricity crackled through its body, although it did not appear to do much damage to the beast. She dropped back into a martial stance, her right fist held in front of her, lightning flashing along the length of the knuckles.
