Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Too Much Aggression; For Vyse

Once more, the like was not getting the amount of travelers Diana was looking for. At least, not very wealthy ones. Five gold coins? Bah, what horrible luck. Diana wanted a brand knew set of armor, maybe some Gloomwood Leather, but she was not going to get it if this streak of bad luck kept happening.

Whoever it was that came under her gaze was going to be quite unlucky to find her aggressive and not one for taking people alive. Usually she would take the time to really enjoy flaunting her power over a victim, today she was just antsy to get some money and go shopping. Sometimes greed overtakes her sense of sadistic pleasure. It didn't make her less dangerous, it would just make her in a way a little more aggressive and quick to go for the kill.

Of course, sometimes aggression was not a good thing, like when your opponent is more aggressive and you should be trying to keep a cool head. Diana was not in that mood today, and it could cost her more then missing out on some gold and a new outfit.

Zenji walked down the road slowly, his katana sheathed at his hip, his hand holding the hilt lightly, he was bored. He had killed off a small group of merchants farther down the road, the guards weren't even a challenge, Sangue Lupo had drank their and spilled much of it onto the ground. He tapped the wolf head pommel, the red blade that complimented his red left arm, the enchantments on it kept goodie goodies at bay and forced his enemies to bleed even from the tiniest scratches, he loved Sangue Lupo, almost as much as he loved women. He smiled maybe the next group of wanderers or merchants would have better fighters, probably not, though blood was always nice to spill.

He wandered down the road, he could feel something odd... blood lust, something primal, a wild animal... or someone just as cruel as him. He placed his hand on his katana's hilt, slowly unsheathing it, he kept his eyes shifting, something felt odd, he didn't know whether to scream with joy or growl in anger that someone might be hunting him. It could only be an animal passing by, something just disturbed him. He was prepared though, Sangue Lupo was unsheathed, his spike gauntlet hands were tight around it's grip, his skill would do the rest.

She could hear him coming close before she saw him. He was coming down her path, but as she watched him he unsheathed a blade. It seemed he could sense he was being watched, it wasn't uncommon. Every so often people just got that feeling when she was watching them. Usually when they did she did not give them much time to think about it. The problem was that this was definitely going to be a fighter. He did not have the air of someone who used that sword as a toy, he knew how to use it.

Oh well, as one would say in her business it was time to take her strikes while she could. She jumped down, her own Drow Scimitar unsheathed. There was no question she had no refined skills with the blade, but she could still swing it and make things bleed. Which is what she tried to do, slashing at the man without a word of warning. If she was lucky he would be dead there and she could just raid his corpse, but she knew that was a longshot when he was already alert.

He saw her drop down and slash at him, amateur move, he brought up his blade and blocked it, getting a better look at his assailant... a woman. He sighed as he stepped back a few paces after the block, getting some distance between them, "Geez... a female murderer, you're tugging at my heart strings here." He placed his katana on his shoulder as he started to circle her, "You gotta think these things through, if you attack someone like that they'll block the blade easily, are you just some poor swordswoman or someone who just wants to stab someone to death... you need a mentor ya know?" He placed his other hand on the katana's hilt, "I don't want to cut your pretty face, though if I gotta I will, feel free to surrender to me whenever you like beautiful."

He rushed her, bringing his sword up in a slash at her waist, after that he brought his blade back, thrusting it forward at her chest, finally bringing his blade back, spinning to the side, feinting a slash with his katana as he instead dropped to a crouch mid-spin, making a sweeping kick at her legs. If she could survive this little combination she might be worth teaching or even recruiting her.

He blocked her attack and stepped back a bit. There was an odd calmness to him, he spoke as though this was honestly not that surprising. He was also... was that an attempt at charm? Not the worst attempt she heard by a man, but timing was everything and when being attacked was not the best. He was also talking down to her, like a professional giving advise to an amateur. That was not the best sign.

He circled her as he spoke, studying her, and she kept herself facing him. This was becoming bad, in just a block he had suddenly made this fight his own. She had to turn the tables on him soon, she was the attacking force after all.

All thought of that went out the window when he came at her. She may have lacked sword technique, but at least she knew it enough to stick with what were her strengths. She blocked the first attack at her waist, a slashing technique just being easier to block, and only barely noticing it in time, she jumped to the side to avoid the thrust. However, her mistake came when he seemed to slash at her again, only to suddenly be tripped by his kick, falling to the ground.

He quickly worked his blade, stabbing the ground around her rapidly, labeling what he would have stabbed if he had kept on attacking her, "Leg, lung, shoulder, stomach, lung, heart." And with a final thrust he stopped the blade centimeters away from her throat, "Throat." He backed off, getting back into position, giving her his psychotic smile, "Now do you want to keep on fighting or should we talk this out, as I said, I don't want to kill you, though if you stupidly attack me again, I will end you and drain the blood from your body." He licked the edge of his blade, perfection at it's finest.

He went back to circling her, "Now... if you don't want to fight I'd suggest that you take lessons... from me, how about it beautiful, I could teach you how to kill properly with a blade or do you want to just get to know me first? Maybe some wining and dining?" His psychotic smile changed to a small grin. He kept his eyes on her, looking her over, she looked nice, her movements were quick, she was just... inexperienced or at least not as experienced as he was.

Diana was still as he stabbed the ground around her. It was chilling as he listed off everywhere he could have stabbed in that moment, ending with the throat. Lesson learned, do not get in a sword fight with a swordsman until she herself could fight a swordsman. Luckily he seemed serious about not wanting to kill her. Though she would generally be disgusted at the very male reaction she was having to her, for now she was counting herself lucky.

She leaned up and eventually stood up. He was talking to her, and she was definitely not going to be attacking him again. He offered her... training? And a date. The latter was least appealing, not that she would say that. "I'd consider it," she said, making sure she would speak somewhat calmly, trying to sound unphased by how easily she was beaten. Truth be told, she honestly needed practice in the art of swordsmanship. So far her combination of swordsmanship and a little magic had worked fine, but this proved sometimes she needed that extra bit of skill she would not get from just repeatedly attacking passers by.

"I could always use practice." She tried to return the smile, but she could not really hide the smallest bit of disgust in herself for doing so.

He smirked, she was smart, not attacking him was her best choice, though that just meant he needed to be extra careful, he wouldn't sheathe his blade, "Good, I'll help you learn the art of murder... next time we fight maybe you won't fall so easy to a feint. Though first I offer something to ease over what just happened, I slaughtered a caravan a bit back on the road, full of goods and supplies, I'm sure you could find something worth some coin in there. So now, introductions are in order, I am Zenjirou the Red, I was also known as Cruel Cutter in Cascadia... yes, if you've been there in the last year you would know that Cruel Cutter slaughtered several dozen people and wrote messages on their walls in their own blood, fun times... fun times..." He sighed, those were his favorite times indeed, murder, blood, the feel of his sword cutting through bone, it just made him giddy, though killing women... that just put a bad taste in his mouth most of the time.

He placed his blade on his shoulder, slowly walking back down where he came from, "Come on beautiful, you're killing for coin right, lets get to the caravan. You probably wanted to sell Sangue Lupo for quite a bit of money, those there is no chance anyone would have the coin to buy it, red steel blade, an adamantine guard, and a steel wolf head pommel... it would cost a fortune to buy, lucky for me Kirsikka Enterprises pays so well." He felt it was logical, not many people were like him and loved murder and blood shed.

Oh, this was such a different man then she was used to running into. He rather liked to talk, and boast and... Wait, he was who? He was THAT killer? Gods, she knew how to pick the most dangerous targets imaginable. Luckily it seemed she would get something more tangible then learning experience in this encounter as he offered to take her back to a caravan to sate her need for coin.

"I'm Diana Sin," she stated. "No nicknames for me yet." Of course, that might be because her attacks were usually recorded as bandit attacks. As though she were just a common bandit, silly survivors. But, she did not mind being lesser known. At least any bounties on her head would be small, and less people would be on the lookout for her. High profile may have worked for Zenjirou here, but it was not for her.

Not until she had a bit more skill to back up such an image. As he talked about his sword, a question came to her mind. "Kirsikka Enterprises?"

He smirked, she was a no-name for now, though he planned on changing that, it slightly surprised him that she didn't know about the KE, he should explain, "Kirsikka Enterprises, also called KE, it's a large arms merchant company, my boss hired me for the more... illicit jobs, I've been looking for candidates to join up in the company, it's annoying but what Lumi wants Lumi gets. She's the only woman I'm afraid of, her skill dwarfs mine, her speed incredible... and her legs... divine." He kept up his pace, his katana's red blade shining as the light through the trees hit it.

He kept silent for a bit, seeing the caravan only a bit away, and among the wreckage was a few armed men, Zenji smiled, blood will be spilled. He walked forward, his psychotic smile stretching across his face as his pupils dilate, "If you want your spoils, I suggest you murder them with me, I'll take the two moving the corpses, you take the two digging through the wreckage I created. Move." He rushed the two carrying the corpse, he laughed maniacally as he ran, the two turned and dropped the corpses, pulling out longswords, they got ready to receive his attack.

Zenji didn't stop, he slashed high, letting them block his blade as one of them slashed at his neck, he ducked it and brought his blade to him, thrusting it up into one of their throat's ripping it out to let blood spray into the other man's eyes. He gasped and cried out, trying to wipe the blood out of his eyes as Zenji cut open his stomach, afterward stabbing into his chest, ripping up, slicing through bone and his throat, letting blood spray across his own face. He let his head roll back as he looked to the side, licking blood from his lips, he smiled, ready for more if the little girl couldn't handle her foes.

Ah, so he was not just a murderous psychopath, he was also a talent scout for more murderous psychopaths. That made sense. Diana found herself curious about this organization, and apparently there was a female leader. That was something she could get behind. She wasn't behind his description of her legs, but then he was a man and that was simply how they were.

As they seemed to get close, he got rather quiet, studying. Seemed a group had come to clean up after the dead. But, they would not have long to think about it as Zenjirou basically had the same idea she had. It was time for the kills. She did not like having her targets disignated for her, but she was fine enough with her targets being the more distracted.

As soon as he made his break for his two, she did as well. And she was rather faster, faster then he was on foot at least. The men rummaging through the wreckage of the caravan took longer to notice her coming at them then the men Zenjirou went after, and by the time they were drawing their blades she was already slashing at the neck of the first. One had to admire the Drow for their ability to make a good scimitar when she was able to cleave though that neck with pure brute force and block the attack of his fellow. One down, one to go.

She locked her blade with her enemy's sword, using only one hand to hold it there and raising another to cast a small spell. She whispered the incantation and made a slashing motion with her fingers, the man was shocked and grunted from the invisible strike, faltering back. She did not hesitate to cut his belly open and let the gore slide out. Oh how she loved to see the look of pain on his face, she let out a cold cackle as she kicked him down. "Come on, keep bleeding, don't die too quickly!"

He smiled as he wiped the blood from his face, she was magnificent, she was just as cruel as he was, "Oh... such great word choices, be a bit more careful though, you might force me to fall in love with you with that kind of talk." He chuckled as he looked at the corpses they had hauled out, most of them were to mutilated to recognize, he did good work. He slowly walked over to the caravan, he didn't care about the goods, though the girl wanted whatever was in there to sell. He poked around with the tip of his katana, it was a lot of junk to him, though shiny junk, jewelry and other small but pricey items, boring.

He looked through the other pieces, still nothing of interest to him, he flicks the blood off his blade, putting it back onto his shoulder, keeping it out, just in case the woman decided to attack him, "Nothing but junk to me... then again I have no interest in coin or trinkets, take what you like Diana, then we should get moving a ways away, I'll teach you a few basic strikes for swordsmanship, don't worry though, I won't kill you, my blade is sated for now." He licked his lips at the blood flowing onto the ground, it was a pity not to bathe his left arm in it, which shared the same bright red as blood, mainly because he soaked it in blood weekly, kept his arm nice and red.

After watching her victim breath his lasts breaths, she sighed that it was over so quickly. But, she quickly cheered herself up by finding jewelry and trinkets. The only thing that could satisfy her outside of violence was often greed, and this was a lovely place for it. She quickly looked through everything, seeing what she thought most valuable, discarding what wasn't worth carrying.

Diana was not too bad about it, able to convince herself away from carrying too much, she still had to walk after all and had no faithful mount to carry her treasures for her, best to stick with light and wearable. Least it would sate her need for personal wealth for a little while. She turned back to her companion. "Teach what you will," she said. "I can be a quick learner when I put myself up to it."

She had ignored his comment about falling for her. If he ever did he might find himself shrunken to the size of a doll and crushed under her boot one night. Oh, actually that sounded like fun, she might just have to let that happen just to sate that little fantasy.

He smirked, she was a close third for strong women he's met, the first being Lumi, the only woman to beat him so badly that he had to go into intensive medical care. He lead her a bit away from the wreckage and corpses, pointing his sword at her, "You'll probably mock the training, it's just basic slashing and thrusting, though it's best to learn the fundamentals. My master told me that all the time... well before I burned him alive with my family... good times." He showed her, a basic slash to the side, a basic slash from head to toe, and a stab at chest height, head height, and at where an enemy's legs should be. Though to most people it would look the same as every other attack, though to him, he could feel the cut of the wind and the power of his arms, he was a step above most swordsmen, though he had seen plenty of people even stronger then him.

He nodded to her, "Lets put you under the same training as I was, two hundred of each or until you can't hold your sword any more, which ever comes first." He walked over to the tree, sitting down, he would watch her movements, her skill, her arm and wrist movements, even her feet, all of it was needed for a proper slash or thrust, if she couldn't even do the basics right he would have to pummel her with the flat of his blade until she got it right, or joined KE, since he was forbidden from killing them, so, until she went to Striberg to join them, heh, good. He would have his fun with her, teasing and taunting her, making her work hard for any skill, along with some of his flirting, which he could tell wasn't working, he just liked doing it to annoy her now.

Diana was not entirely impressed by the need for the basics, but she at least understood it. Of course, swinging a sword several hundred times was going to be dull, dull work. Which yes, it was dull, dull work. She might have surprised him by an ability to not tire out for a while, but the repetition of several moves in sequence was just so boring, and anyone would start getting a little tired after a time of it.

But there was one other little thing keeping her going. Some would say pride was a sin, but Sin was in her name anyways, and it had served her ambitions. She did not like looking like a lesser before a man. He had beaten her, sure, but he would not stay on top. No man would stay on top. Even as she tired that burning desire to be better, to be best, kept her with it.

Time passed and she was exhausting herself. It did not help that she had used a lot of adrenaline today, her body tiring the the constant activity of the day.
