Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

The night air brought a strong wind with it as the full moon shone bright over the empty sea. This was the only place that Victoria thought of as home. This was where she had first met a vampire that wasn't trying turn her into a, well...

Home... thought Victoria. She took a deep breath and sat down in the soft sand. She ran her hand over grainy little bits of cream colored sand, enjoying the way it felt under her hands. Home... thought Victoria once again as she looked out over the sea. She was glad that no one was there, to watch her. She let a few tears drip out of her eyes. She would save the true tears for later that night, while she lay on the ground, not sleeping like always. At that thought, more tears started to come out. She picked up her hands and whipped them away. She then picked up her knees, and wrapped her arms around them, holding them in place. She sat like for a long time, just watching the sky, the sea...

As she watched, the sun started to rise. She thought about moving, but then clouds covered it, so there was no reason. A ship came into the port, not far from where she was. She listened to the people coming off. She heard a few make a comment about where she was, but she never got up. Viky thought that she heard another set of steps, slightly different from the others, but couldn't be sure. They quickly left, just like all the others. She let it drop.

Time seemed to move differently here. Before long, the sun was setting. "I've been here all day..." thought Victoria. She stayed there as she saw the moon as it started to come back, the clouds leaving, just as they had the night before.

It was then, listening to the waves hit the cliffs over to the left, hearing the sound of the sand being moved, that she heard footsteps. She couldn't be sure, but Viky thought that they were the same ones that had come off the ship from earlier that day. They stopped, and all was quiet again. She thought she heard a voice somewhere behind her say something, but couldn't be sure. "Home..." said Victoria. She stayed where she had, sitting in the same position for 24 hours letting the calm air around her sooth her so that she didn't start crying.

The old man walked along the beach, on the white sand, and the lobsteroid followed. He wore a yukata now, a cotton kimono and hakama that breathed for the hotter temperature in the area. His yukata was two layers, green over white, with white riding hakama, a sort of pleated trousers. In his wide belt, wrapped around him several times, were a pair of swords in the daisho style, the katana Yawarakai-Te, a holy blade, and the wakizashi Tengoku-to-Jigoku. The dark blue lobsteroid by his side scuttled along, eyes scanning the beach. It kept its large claws close to its head, mandible chattering and antenna shaking about. The old elf had come to this island to deliver a package to an old friend, but after delivering it, they had been attacked, and although they had beaten off the assaulters, but by then it was too late to get a ride to his next stop. Until the next ship to the stop came in a week or so, he was stuck on the shore. It was an entirely unfortunate happening, but he was never pleased about disruptions to his schedule unless it was to help others. Which meant that he was nearly always pleased about the disruptions.

As of yet not finding a not entirely willing person to help, he walked along the beach, grumbling about the leaving of the ship. He stepped through the soft and white sand, and looked up to see a person sitting on the beach, his, or her, arms wrapped around the person's knees. He put a hand to the handle of his sword, and stepped closer. His hand left the handle when he realized that the person was no threat to him, only a woman curled up, her red hair falling in a curtain around her. He stepped forward carefully, not wishing to startle the woman, and stepped closer. The lobsteroid apparently sensed the tension of the situation, and stopped clattering his mandible. The old elf was curious at this woman, who sat in the sand, and the sand had encroached on her to suggest that she had been there for quite a while, and it was deep in the night. He took a few more cautious steps, looking around him, although he kept his hand from the handle of his katana. He bent down to examine the woman, and said in a gentle tone of voice, "Ma'am, are you alright? Is there something I can do to help you?"

Victoria looked up at the man as he bent his head over her. She shook her head, and a few more feeble tears ran down her checks. She quickly picked up her hands and whipped them away. What is the use of crying? You made the choice to stay here, to come here. Now, you must live with that choice... Thought Victoria. She looked up at the man again, and gave a weak smile. "No. I don't need any help, thank you though. I'm just thinking about my... past... life. Not much I can do about it now, is there?" There was an obvious pause, as though it hurt or something for her to say that. After she said this, Viky sighed. "My name's Victoria." She help out her hand to shake, letting her knees fall to the ground. She smiled a much prettier smile.

Victoria stood up after she shake and the noticed that her hair was down her back. She quickly plucked her hair band from her wrist, and picked up her hair. She smoothed it down perfectly, and pulled it into a half ponytail, not wanting a full one right now. She wiped the sand off of her long, dark blue dress. Viky looked back at the man and noticed for the first time what he was wearing. It looked as though he were a warrior for another place. She couldn't place it, but it looked foreign to her. Then again, she was new here, and knew not what people wear. Victoria looked out at the empty sea again, watching as the waves hit the sand. "Beautiful, isn't it...I've spent so much time down here. But it is just to pretty to leave." As she said this, Victoria noticed that a small part of her hair fell down to her check. She smiled, and let her head drop, letting her bangs stay out of her half ponytail. She turned to face the man, almost forgetting that he where there. "So, what brings to the shore?" asked Victoria, as she watched the waves, home.
Home... What nice word

The woman shook her head to his question, but the action brought out a few more tears. She wiped them away quickly, and looked up at him, making an attempt at a smile, probably to reassure him. If that was indeed the purpose of it, it most certainly did not work. The girl had been thinking about her past life, and when she spoke the words there was a certain pain in her face and eyes, just a little tinge. Her name was Victoria. Ezekial grasped her hand in a strong grip and shook it vigorously, giving her a reciprocating smile for her much more attractive one. The girl stood up, and plucked a thin band from her wrist, picking up her hair and pulling it into a style that he was unfamiliar with, but was certainly becoming to her. She shook the sand from her dark blue dress, and when she looked up, he could tell that she was staring at his new garb. He smiled, reminded of the other young girl, at least, young to him, who had worn a similar expression, but he had worn a joue at that time, a priestly outer robe. His expression tinged towards sadness, and he chastised himself, reminding himself that it was her time to leave, as all of his companions eventually must do.

He looked out to the beach at her prompting, and replied, "Yes, beautiful, but all good things must come to an end. This place is no different. It's sad, it really is, but it's the way of the Wheel." He looked at her, and realized that it would be a foreign term to her. He chuckled lightly, and said, "My apologies, I forget that not everyone is a practitioner of my faith. The Wheel is a spiritual structure that watches everything go from order to chaos, from life to death, and from chaos to order, and life to death. According to it, life begets death, and death begets life. It is the natural way of things. He looked out to the sea, feeling the rhythmic tides coming and ebbing, picking up sand and leaving sand in its wake. He was silent for a moment, and was shocked out of his reverie when the girl asked him what brought him to the shore. What brought him to this shore? It was a question that he had no satisfactory answer for. "I missed my ship to leave, and just walked here to waste time. I suppose it was luck, or perhaps lack of it, that brought me to this beach. The lobsteroid by his feet clattered its mandibles loudly and nodded its head, whether in agreement or just by chance it was uncertain. The old man smiled at the large lobster, about the size of a dog, and said to the girl, "And what brings you to this beach?

Victoria nodded. Having different believes was something that she was used to. She understood that. But, when he asked what she was doing here, there noticeable difference in the air. It became stiff, and anyone could tell that she didn't really want to answer that question. She almost didn't. But, Viky knew better than that...

If truth be told, the reason she was here was because this was the only home that she knew of here. Sure, she had been up North. And, she wanted to go down South, but, this was home. She would always come back here, even if she ended buying a house somewhere in this place, this would always be her home here. So, instead, Viky made a comment to each thing that he had said. "Life does end... even for an immortal, life ends..." One could only guess that there was second meaning behind those words. So, Viky went to the next. "You missed your ride? One left not that long ago... Well, it was early this morning, actually." Viky said the last part sheepishly. Now came to the hard part. Viky had been racking her brain for something to say that wouldn't make her seem... weird. She had only come up with one thing, though: Ask a different question from the one that he asked her. Victoria had gone through the questions that she always asked when she first met a person. She decided on asking him what his name was. "What did you say your name was?" She said, hoping that it wasn't too obvious that she was trying to change the subject. That had never been one of the best things that she was good at, but telling this man of her past was not something that she was too keen to do. She would, though, if it came to that.

Though, for some reason, there was a part of, how deep it was, she did not know, that wanted another being to know. No matter if they were about to die, or would live forever, she all of suddenly wanted someone to know her story. To get it off her chest, as her mother had done with her on so many other occasions, before... before her life had been changed forever. She would never be able to rant to her mother as she ranted her. Never again would she be able to feel a connection with another being like so many families had. Sibling to sibling, Mother to Father. She would never have that. Whether because she didn't think that she could, or she knew that she coudn't Victoria didn't know. But, she knew that she wanted someone else to know her story now. Know, and hopefully understand...to and extant.

The old man paused when the girl skipped over his previous question, instead opting to ask him for his name. He looked at her, silent, for just a moment, considering the situation. It was entirely possible that this could be another Cascadia fiasco, but the old priest doubted that the girl was as fast, or as proficient at dodging a small fly dragon high in the sky as the little wererabbit had been. Even so, if he failed to win over a starving boy who had been living on the streets, which albeit were far from the worst streets to be abandoned on, would he really be able to win over this woman if he drove her away, as his "tactics" were wont to? It didn't particularly matter much, he had a hunch that this woman was troubled, in a manner of speaking, and it was his obligation as a priest to aid this woman in recuperation, in a way. He nodded slightly, and replied, "I am Ezekial Smith, and this little guy is Tihtipihin." Hearing his name, the lobsteroid raised his head, antenna waving. The old priest smiled, and scratched the thick carapace of the dog-sized lobster, and it lowered its antenna for a second, a sign that Ezekial knew from experience meant that it was enjoying the sensation.

He laughed and took his hand from the lobsteroid's crown, and looked forward at the girl, smiling lightly. He looked at her, considering the situation once more. He knew from experience that voicing your concerns made them easier to deal with, and that sharing your story with another did the same. Even during the Cascadia fiasco he had eventually found out what had happened, rather hard not to considering that he had been attacked by a demon who at several intervals had referred to the young boy as his slave, something Ezekial held a moral opposition to. He hoped that he would not have to fight a demon here. He chuckled inwardly at the thought, and became suddenly serious. He looked at the girl with an expressionless face and said, "What brings you to this beach?" He pored over the girl's expression, trying to read the tiniest shifts in her face that would betray emotions, even the minute changes that would be lost unless you were looking for them, and even then. He was not particularly good at it. His thoughts drifted to her previous comment, even for an immortal, life ends. What did she mean by that? Was she an immortal or did she know one? He guessed that he would learn in the next exposition from the girl.

Victoria smiled, glad to know that lobsteroid had a name. She nodded to it, and then looked out at the sea. At first, she thought about not answering, as she had at first, but, like she did then, she thought better of. She really did want another to know about her story.

"Do you believe in ...Vampires? " Victoria asked, looking up at Ezekial when she said the last word. She waited for his answer, and then dove into her story, choosing each word with caution.
"Well, I am one. I ran away from home because of that.

My friends had become lovers of the night long before I understood that they were Vampires. I have been one for a little over 3 years. My life changed a lot after that. I hated keeping it from my family, but what else could I do? As soon as released what had happened, I demanded that I get the bottom room, in the lowest level of the house, and that everything inside it be black. I had one window, but I told my mother to get black fabric.

I only ever went out at night. My parents thought I would go partying, but I've never been one for alcohol. I told them that it was nothing like that, because we would go to cure our thirst at night. We were a lot like the ones in the stories. There were five of them before I joined. My boyfriend at the time was the one that changed me. "
A flash of anger went across her otherwise pretty face.

Victoria put her head down for the first time after staring at the ocean during her story. Then she looked up at Ezekial. "I have no home now. My mother would have kicked me sooner than later had I not left when I did. That is why I did leave. I hated my life, and I'm glad that left. " Viky had become very mad at this. Her face was even more in fury than it had been a moment before. " I lost everything when I changed. No one treated me the same. Not even the others like me. " Victoria got sad at the last part, letting a few more tears leave her eyes. She didn't bother to whip them away, because she had let her head fall so that she staring at the sand below her. They fell, slowly to the sand darkening it where they landed. Anyone could tell that she was in pain, emotionally. "I'll never get that bond with my mother that so many other girls have, or to get to out with my siblings like so my families can. I hid in my room until night had fallen, and then I would go out. My younger sisters would ask me why I hid, but I couldn't tell them. It would just hurt too much." More tears where streaming from her eyes. She didn't try to hide them, or whip them. She looked up at Ezekial. "This is my home now. This is the only place that I have ever known as a true home. I've been up North, yes, but this was the first place that I saw, and I spend most of my time here than anywhere else. Well, that is my story...Think of it what you will, but I few it as a painful memory, one that I hope, with time, will go away. Most likely not, though..."Her face become a face with fury again as she waited for Ezekial to respond to her story.

There was a pause after he asked his question and the girl stared at the sea, perhaps considering whether or not to answer it. He caught his breath, worried for a moment that his actions had sent the girl further into her shell, but it was a baseless worry. He listened, and his mouth dropped slightly at the first question. Vampires? Oh dear, that was not good. He swallowed, and said, "Of course I believe in vampires. I've killed my fair share of them, and protected my share of them as well. So this girl was a vampire. That was why she mentioned immortality that time. His brow furrowed when she mentioned that it caused her to leave home. He could not think of a reason that vampirism, except in the worst cases, would cause one to leave home, and this girl was obviously not one of the worst cases. He could scarcely believe that a parent, who should love their child unconditionally, would do something to drive away this girl, even with vampirism. The parents should have done whatever they could to bring this girl back, but they apparently haven't. Boyfriend... a curious turn of phrase for this day and age...

His eyes widened at the phrase "cure our thirst" and took a step back, his hands involuntarily lunging to their places to preform a quick draw, one that would be a fatal blow. He was, however, able to stop it from nearing the sword handle, and readjusted his stance from what had been a combat stance to a formless stance, as if he was standing idle. He hoped that the girl did not notice his mistake, as she seemed like a good person, a far sight from the blood-drinkers who he had been forced to kill to protect a town or village. He doubted that she would drain a man, woman, or child of blood and leave them dead on the street to satisfy her own urges. He could not be sure, though. He made no reaction of her anger than began to spread across her face, nor of her sadness. This person, alienated from her family by a dreadful affliction and driven from her home from that, pained Ezekial deeply, reminding him of another, Marjatta, who had been driven from her home after her child had been born afflicted with the harlequin's spades, something he had heard referred to as icthyosis congenita gravior. Her child had its skin broken in many places, the borders of the scales formed a bright red, its eyes like lumps of solidified blood that were horrifying to see. She was accused of having an affair with a daemon, and her child that of the daemon, and cast from the house to die in the forest. The old priest found her, close to death, and stayed with her, making her at peace and comfortable while she wasted away, clutching the dead body of her bairn to her breast as if it was still alive. He watched her die and buried her under a spruce tree, and returned to the spot every so often to pay his regards to the victims of wrongdoing.

This woman was like Marjatta, filled with anger and sadness at her betrayal. She took up this place as her home, out on the beach. He looked around, frowning. The winter wouldn't be as cold as it would be as in the Great White Northern, but the night next to the sea would be cold, nevertheless. He sighed, and said, "Yes, it will go away, with time. Memories always do. A more disconcerting thing would be you sleeping here on the beach without shelter. If you will live here, I won't stop you, but I'm not going to stand by and let you kill yourself by sleeping outside near the beach, even a tent would be better than that. It's all over but the crying anyhow, so wipe your tears away now." He set his arms akimbo and looked at the girl pointedly, a bit of fire in his eyes now. It had been a while since he had made a home, he wondered if he could still do it.

Victoria smiled up at him. She felt like her mother was scolding her for running too far ahead in their old field. She almost smiled sheepishly up at him, as she would have if it had been her mother. When he started talking about her sleeping on this beach, Viky shook her head and said "That is just the problem. I can't sleep." She let her head drop again, and then looked back at Ezekial. A few more tears left her eyes, and as she started to talk, she wiped the away. "If I did sleep, than I would have nightmares, so I'm glad that I don't..." Victoria smiled again, and then turned her body to face the sea. She let the cold air wash over her body, and that helped to clear away the sadness, as though it left her body with the wind.

"Maybe for most, memories fade, but I have yet to forget a single memory of my life. Not a one. It is odd, but even those from when I was a baby are still there. They are buried really deep, but they are still there..." Victoria was thoughtful for a moment. And then looked at Ezekial.

"What do you expect?" Said Victoria. She was on the defense now from what he said about the tears. As she spoke, he voice start to raise. "I'm not like most "humans", I can't just forget that my life never happened-that my mother gave me that look! That my other friends got worried! I can't do that. My life is... Different than most! I can't eat what everyone else can, I can't sleep, and I'm not emotionally stable enough to be around " normal humans"! Think what you want, but my life isn't like everyone else's!" By the time Victoria had stopped, she panting, out of breath, and not in a good mood.

As she looked at Ezekial, she felt the anger rush out of her body. There was no reason for her act this way. When the next gust of wind rushed in between them, Victoria reminded herself that it wasn't his fault. She knew whose fault it was, and one day she would go back and kill him... one day. But not today, or even within the next few weeks. Perhaps it would be years before she could back home, and get rid of that mongrel of vampire. But, for now, Victoria was happy to stay on Imythess, and wander all of the beaches that she wanted. Maybe she would spend the rest of her life here, happy enough to stay in this land until she felt that she was ready enough to spend a few weeks at "home" ... But, that wouldn't be for a long time. She would have to get her self-control in order before she went anywhere. "I am sorry about that. It was uncalled for..."

He sighed and laughed inwardly at himself at the girl's response. It was a habit of him to get ahead of himself, and set of to forge plans that would never be put into action. He dropped his hands from his waist and stood idle, his face now emotionless. His normally hard brow line softened at her mention of nightmares, something that he could empathize with, for he was struck with the same affliction. He too desired not to sleep, on occasion, but his body's desire to slumber always defeated his determination in the end, and he realized the usefulness that resting would give to him. In that way, sleep was a necessary evil. He looked out to the ocean as the woman did, and felt a chilling breeze blow over him, although he could only barely feel it through his kimono. His brows furrowed when she explained that for her, she did not truly forget, just squirreled the memories away as if in a deep vault. In all of his years travelling, he had not heard of such a thing in a person. In the Dasamut, those metal beings who exist far below, he knew that they remembered everything that happened since they were born, but they were not truly people. The closest he could think of was a man who could remember every person that he had ever met or read about, or been told about, but even he could not remember everything.

He was surprised when the woman began to yell at him, but he did not back down, nor let the shock show on his face more than moderate surprise. He listened patiently, not letting his annoyance at the speech show through to his face. When she was finished he waited for a few moments, to let her work it out of her system. The woman was panting, her faced flush, and obviously out of breath from her rant. Ezekial took a deep breath, and began speaking as soon as she began to apologize. "No, you're not like most humans. Hell, neither am I, nor am I like most elves. But you know what? It doesn't matter in the long run how you hold your dinner fork or reel in a trout. What matters is that you live your life and get on with it. It doesn't matter if you can't forget your mother, or that look she gave you, or even your blasted friends, some friends they were, huh! Hell, I probably won't forget the night my God-be-damned family was killed, and that happened over three-hundred accursed years ago! Stop feeling sorry for yourself and buckle down, 'cause Life doesn't get an easier just because you call for a "time-out".

"And yes, I will think whatever I want to, I've earned the right for being here since the dawn of man. I've seen kingdoms crumble and kingdoms rise and good men die, and bad men die too. I've known people worse off than you, although I admit you're a special kind of damned with your ungodly memory, and when they stopped moping about and actually did something with their lives, well, it turned out alright. And your body is going to destroy you if you don't sleep, even if you aren't a vampire. Sleep is a necessary part of the brain's functioning, at least, that's what they tell me at the Institute, and they're the smartest people I know. They might even be as smart as I am."
He paused for a second here, clearing his throat, and the sudden shift from near shouting to near silence was a shock. He began again, this time at a much lower tone, "I apologize for raising my voice to you, it was unnecessary and was a poor show from myself. It will not happen again. That being said, I do believe that it would be a mistake for you to keep yourself from taking less than what you truly deserve. And you deserve so much more than what you have, believe you me." He was silent now and his face was serious, although there was a hint of apology for his outburst previously, not that he would state it. He had felt that he had said something that would have come out eventually, and rather needed to be said. He couldn't fight tooth and nail for this girl, and if little Tokoyo had been here, she would surely have chastised him for picking up another "stray dog". It would be a fair cop, so to speak, and he knew that there was only so much that he could do for the girl. It didn't mean that he would slack off any time soon.

Victoria stood there, through his whole speech in silence. Though she knew all of it was true, it was harder to hear someone say it out loud. She wanted very much to yell back at him "You're wrong!! Life won't move on, and I can live in a time-out for the rest of forever!" but she knew that would be rude. Even as he raised his voice at her, she couldn't make herself yell back at him, as much as wish should could...as much as she knew she wanted to.

You can only look at something for so long, and you can live in a moment once. Why live a life that is full of hate? Why make yourself live in the past? You choose your own life, right? So why hide there and let everything else take its path while you sit there and hide in a whole? Live your life while you can, don't hide in a corner, and don't live a life in the dark! It can get better, and it can heal. Even scars. Though a scar stays with you forever, it can never leave, never fade, much as you wish it would. Wounds heal, scratches heal, bruises don't stay forever, either. Though scars stay, they go from the ugly red, to a lighter red, to a pink, and then you can all but forget about them forever, or as long as you live...Or both, sometimes. Live your life in the now, not in the then, or the when. In the now. One life, one choice, one chance...

Victoria nodded, knowing that she was in defeat. What else could she say? Why fight? asked a voice in her head. Victoria nodded. Fight only makes things worse. You know that. Why fight against what is trying to help? The more she listened to the voice, the most she knew it made sense. By the time the end came, the voice had started to fade. Don’t let your past rule your life. Live the way you want to... and it was gone. Victoria looked out to the sea, then into the trees, and then at Ezekial. "You are right..." Victoria all but whispered, than she said in a louder voice. "You are right. One life, one choice, one chance. Live life to the fullest, right? That is what I am going to do. Live my life the fullest, for as long as I can, and then I’ll live it for a little longer. One life, one choice, one chance..." Viky said again. She didn't know what she was going to do, but somehow, somewhere, some way she would make up everything she'd ever done, and then she would live her one life...

The old man looked at the girl expectantly and was immensely relieved when the girl reacted well, agreeing with him that she should cease worrying about the past. She repeated the words "Once life, one choice, one chance", and the effect was not dislike repeating a mantra. He smiled at the girl, and took a deep breath, realizing that he had been holding in his breath the entire time. He chuckled at himself and looking back into the forest behind him, his back to the ocean. As much as it was nice to remain alone, to watch the tides roll in and flow out, he would always have to return to civilization eventually. It was just as much of a constant in his life as death and taxes. He looked at the girl, a slight smile on his face. She was on the road to recovery, and although it was a long and winding road, with false exits and certainly numerous obstacles, he had a feeling that this person would stay on the trail. She was certainly a far sight different from the last person he had tried to help. He succeeded then as well, in the end, but this time it had been much, much, easier. At least this time he would not have to fight a demon.

If he thought that life would allow him to pass by without chipping his best china and mucking up his rockery, he was going to get another thing coming to him. "Smith! Smith! You must come quickly! Rosae has given birth and the parents will take it to the wash!" Ezekial uttered an oath loudly in a strange language, that of Suomi, and the newcomer gasped loudly. Although she did not know what it meant, she knew that it was a very bad term in the language from what the old man had said of it. She was a short women, and thick of frame, wearing a grey apron over a blue dress tied above the waist. Her black hair was worn with a handkerchief over it, folded into a triangle. Her skin, what little of it could be seen from her face and from her short sleeves, was bronzed. She was a friend of Rosae's family, and was especially worried about the fate of Rosae's family, not an unreasonable thing, considering her child.

"Of course, I'll go there right now. Victoria, you come as well. I have a feeling that this will be an educating experience for you." The little lobster looked up, as if expecting his name to be called as well, and Ezekial chuckled, saying, "Yes, Tihtipihin, you come as well." The big lobster shook his flat tail up and down, an action that the old priest took to mean that he was pleased with being acknowledged. "Before we go, there's something that you should know. Rosae lives with her father, mother, and near her elder brother, who lives in a hut close by. All three of them were opposed to the pregnancy to begin with, although for different reasons. Moreover, she was to be married to a man from a neighboring village, although the child is that of a man from another village, apart from the two. From what I've heard of her, she wants to keep the child, as does the father. I should doubt that he is there, or else Elsa would have informed me of his death at the hands at her parents. Come, Tihtipihin, let us show them the meaning of haste."

((Only if you don't mind that I don't know the story))

Victoria watched as he took a deep breath. She had no idea what to say now, but was a little confused as to why he turned from the sea. She couldn't look away from it!

Viky was about to ask him what he was thinking when a women walked up, yelling something about a woman giving birth to Ezekial. Half of her wanted to turn and run for hills. Victoria never wanted to see someone give birth! But, she followed Ezekial as he ran up the hill.

As they ran, Victoria thought about how odd it was that she had wanted to get out of the house and have child not that long ago, but now thought it to be the work of Diablo. She viewed her wishes to ripped brutally from her hands when they had almost been within reach. She was supposed to be getting married within the year from her birthdate of 2 years ago. That did not happen. Instead, it had taken from her, never been given back. She knew why that was, though she would never tell a soul. She had loved both men, but she would not anyone...not even Ezekial, to whom she now trusted more than she would have otherwise.

Victoria couldn't think of anything to say as they ran into the near-by village. She still had not thought of a think when they walked up to the family. It looked like there was mother, father, daughter, and 3 men to whom could have been brothers in faint light of the moon. A cloud had gone over the sky at just that moment, so it had gotten very dark in the time that it had taken them to run up the hill to the family.

As they ran into the village, Ezekial saw a group of six people standing in front of the round hut that formed the large home for the three, the mother, father, and the sister. The woman was clutching a newborn baby to her chest, wrapped in a light blue shroud. The mother was handsome, to be sure, although her dark brown hair was streaked with grey. She was pleading with the woman to consider her future, that that man from the other village who was the father would be as nothing compared to her supposed husband-to-be. That if they got rid of the child immediately they could still manage to deceive the husband-to-be into thinking that she was still "innocent". If that proved impossible, they could weave a web of lies to explain away her loss of virginity. The father was near shouting at the woman, asking her how she could abuse the memory of her deceased grandfather in this manner, by becoming a mother out of wedlock. Accusing her of deliberately destroying the honor of her family name out of petty spite. The older brother was speaking with her in a relaxed tone, telling her to leave the brat, that it'll only slow her down, that she won't be able to participate as much in the village feasts that they so loved. That he didn't give a damn about the old fogeys, nor about the plonker that was to be her husband, and neither should she. The mother was close to tears, but kept them within out of a desire not to give them the satisfaction of seeing that they had gotten to her.

The younger twin brothers, working their best to act as mediators to accept the wishes of their sister, tried to force themselves between the others and the sister, but were shoved roughly out of the way. One looked up at hearing footsteps, and saw an old man walked towards them. At first he was unsure as to who it was, but soon recognized the exotic garb worn by the man. "Ezekial! Come here, quick!" The others turned to look at the approaching three, the older woman Maria, the old priest, and a newcomer they did not know, although if she was following the first two, they must know her. The father and mother both turned to Ezekial and pleaded with him to talk some sense into their daughter, to tell her to relinquish her bastard child. Ezekial was expressionless now, and deathly serious, a far sight from his previous demeanor. He knew that this was a delicate situation, and if it was not handled carefully, it had the capacity to implode on itself. At all costs he must prevent that devolution.

"Set aside your assumptions of my partiality. I will do what is ethically obligated of me, not what is asked of me by any one party." He looked around, and saw that all three, if not pleased with this revelation, were at least understanding of it. As long as there was no out-and-out hostility, negotiations could continue.

Victoria followed Ezekial, though she didn't know what to expect when they got to there destination. From what Viky heard the woman say, a child had just been born. And not many where pleased with it. When they came up to the family, Victoria heard the family yelling at the girl... They weren't yelling, but they where telling her that she should give the child up. From the look on her face, Viky got the idea that family was kind of getting to her. This angered Victoria, and she wasn't sure why...

When Ezekial stopped in front of family, the mother asked him to tell the girl to give the child up. Part of Victoria knew that he would answer the way he did, and part of her was surprised to hear his answer. I will do what is ethically obligated of me, not what is asked of me by any one party. Victoria stopped short there. From that moment, she knew she didn't want to be there. She stayed in the back, not wanting to let her voice heard, because she knew that the family wouldn't like her much.

Victoria tried to imagine that. A vampire walks up if she had been in the girls position, and told her to keep the child. If Ezekial asked her her opinion, she would just say that she should keep the baby, and nothing more, though she knows she wants to say more. She wouldn't. She would hold herself...

That was when she saw the two boys trying to push the family off of the girl. It looked like they might be twins, but Viky couldn't be sure. She nodded to the one that looked at her with minor confusion, as though to say "Hello." She kept space between herself and the family, but she was close enough to be considered "part of the group".

As she watched, it looked like the family that wanted her to give of the child was really upset that Ezekial didn't tell her right away to let it go. But they had the look that they might be able to convinced that she could keep the baby.
