Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Vyse was tired, he had gotten a great trade deal from a Kellen noble, he was giving deals in Vyse's favor... in exchange for helping him and his friends learn the ways of horsemanship and fighting on horseback, turns out they wanted to be knights but needed training. He had hoped the boy and his friends would have some talent, some did at least while the majority was plain horrible. He had taken them out to the plains for better practice, he also brought some laborers to bring the necessary equipment and a cart. Vyse rode by the dummy mounted on a saddle, slapping the belts of the fake platemail and saddle buckles with his cutlass. Instructing them not to go to fast, though they didn't seem to care about his instructions or orders, they often said, 'a real knight fights on horseback with lance and blade, killing his foe with a single stroke.' They often emphasized the horse back, thinking that Umbriel is just a large cat and not as worthy or noble as a horse.

It was a few hours later, the sun was high, it was noon. He signaled for everything to be packed up and that the boys could go home, he also told them to ride in the cart, no doubt that they were saddle sore. He looked at the six boys who were trying to become knights, he knew four of them didn't have a chance, while the nobleman's son was good at handling a sword or polearm, his riding was terrible, he'd have to work on that. While the other was his sister who had come along for the fun of it, it was a pity she didn't want to become a knight, she was plain good at everything, not excellent, though lots of raw talent. He'd have to talk to her parents about that, see if he could get her to help him teach the blasted boys on how to fight and ride like a real warrior. He waved them off as the boys and girl hopped into the cart with the extra stuff, Vyse was going to stay behind for a while, he dismounted Umbriel sitting at the side of the road, stroking her fur, he rarely had times to lounge like this, it was time to make the best of the moment, and rest.

People. Bastet was intrigued by all the activity and sat perched on a low rock which allowed her to see while in her cat form while minimizing the chance she would be seen. However, they seemed awfully busy with... whatever it was. Big horses often ignored her, but with all the moving about and raised voices, she was not going to put herself in the middle of it. It was interesting to watch.

However, that changed suddenly as the sun reached overhead, there was a winding down. People were leaving, wagons and animals going down the road. She was not sure what to make of it. The tip of her tail twitched. Finally, curiosity got the better of her and she moved form the warm rock to the tall grass. She couldn't see too well in the bright sun, but she didn't want to shift to her human form if she didn't have to. She only had a small breakfast and dinner was still half a day away. Her larger forms needed more food and shifting took energy as well. Out here she needed to be careful She had only been out here once before.

She sniffed about where the wagon and people had been, listening to the rattle of the wagon as it vanished. Did they have food? Should she follow? Who was that large cat she saw? It reminded her of something, but she was not sure.

Vyse saw Umbriel's head move, looking behind them, he turned his own head... a little cat was on the road. He took out some jerky from his pocket, breaking it into smaller pieces for the cat, "Come here kitty... would you like some meat?" He kept a hand on Umbriel as he put his hand out with the meat in it. It was odd that a cat was in this place, odder that it didn't run at the sight of a giant dire tigress, must be a curious kitty or something else. He shrugged, if it wanted to hurt him it would have while he was training the brats.

He urged the cat to come to him, "I'm not going to hurt you... Umbriel herself is just a tame little cat right now, come here..." He was glad no one was around, talking like this was a bit embarrassing, though not unheard of for him, he sometimes got like that when he was with Umbriel, she was such a good cat. He felt Umbriel purr and lay down, relaxing in the sun, he turned for a second, taking up the large pack he had strapped to Umbriel, taking out a large chunk of raw meat for her, placing it in front of her, she started eating it, working her powerful jaws to tear into the meat. Vyse turned back to the much smaller cat, urging her on some more.

She hesitated when she heard a voice. One of the men from the group was not as far away as the wagon was. However, he offered her meat. Her ears perked forward. When he held out his hand with something in it, she came forward carefully.

She sat down when he seemed to be getting something from his things. She watched him retrieved some meat and give it to the larger cat. Then she smiled a kitty smile. This man reminded her of the one who bought her fish at the docks in Taras. He had a big cat too, and got food for both her and his big cat. She liked that memory. She had eaten so many fish that she could have chosen to be in her biggest hybrid cat form and would have still had no room for more.

She came over to him and accepted the jerky he offered and would allow him to pet her if he tried. Food was always welcome, just as long as the humans remembered she was a cat and not one of them. She had been in an asylum once already, she was not going to go back again. She didn't care if they thought she was a human-ish creature. She was a cat.

He smirked as the little cat at the jerky, he loved cats, Umbriel was such a lovable fuzz ball that it just seemed second nature. He looked as the wagon was pulling farther away down the road, they'd make it there hours before he started moving towards Kellen. He stroked the cat slowly, making sure to keep his hand light on her fur, "If I wasn't traveling all the time I'd take you home with me little cat... though I don't think you'd like Cascadia, lots of people and kids, not to mention I barely have time for my own cat, Umbriel..." He sighed, being the owner of a failing merchant company was hard work, he had finally stabilized the income so the company would, very slowly since the slightest thing could upset it, grow and flourish... maybe he'd get more men like Qadaj, set up a council that deals with everything right under his own ownership, he'd still be in control and have to do paperwork, though maybe he'd have free time to wander every once in a while again, oh well, he could dream.

He laid back, resting his head on Umbriel's thick fur, he took a large hunk of cheese from the pack, chewing on it slowly, he looked at the little cat, such a nice little critter. He smiled at it, "Are you lost little kitty? Or are you a stray that wanders around... heh, look at me, talking to a cat I can't understand most people would think I'm insane, right Umbriel?" Umbriel purred softly, finishing up her meat she licks his face, such an affectionate dire tigress... not like most cats she hated being apart from her master and cub, she purred at the tiny cat and laid her head back down, content.

Bastet purred to herself as she snacked on her food. She didn't recall a place called Cascadia. If this man was from there perhaps she should visit it. As the man spoke further, Bastet turned her attention to Umbriel. She went over to her head sniffed her before sitting down and saying in feline, "Are you able to change form? My big form isn't as big as you are."

Being a cat it was expressed matter of fact with little need to bother with explanations or reasons. Bastet was glad to meet another cat as much as she was a human who was so open to them. However, she was not going to change her form if this larger cat, whom the human called Umbriel, thought she should not. It was not her human, even if he did express an interest in being so. He seemed unsure and she would not let any human of hers not know she could change her form.

Umbriel looked at the cat, purring, "My form is this one. I am a normal dire tigress, I just guard an odd cub, Vyse is a good cub and master. You are more then welcome to join us little cat. Vyse lives in a lively place, lots of people, lots of nice smells. Just a word of advice, don't take any food unless Vyse lets you, he got in trouble with the guard once when I tried to steal some food." Umbriel went back to laying down, nuzzling Vyse's side, purring lightly, what a nice master and such a good cub.

Vyse smirked, what was Umbriel so happy about, maybe she was just happy to relax with him for once? He shrugged, stroking Umbriel lightly still, "Wish I had someone intelligent to talk to, it's been a long time since I talked to someone I liked outside of my merchant company, it's a pity that I'm so busy all the time, even using what free time I have to train someone in the ways of mounted combat. I really regret doing it, the kids I'm teaching are just rich brats with little promise... I'm tired of doing this stuff... though I've got a little while of doing this still." He sighed, he wished he could talk to someone who could talk back, conversation would help pass the time... until he'd have to go back and tell the parents how terrible most of them were.
