Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Everto looked over Izimet's Field, he had read about the battle of angels against devils here, if anything this would be the perfect part for summoning them since it was closely linked with both creatures. He would just need to start thinking about ways to open portals to their realms and drag them here, might as well start sketching circles and magical theory. He opened up his spellbook, finding a few blank pages he pricks his finger with his quill and starts scribbling in it with his own blood.

He spent a while scribbling down passages and pages of theories and magic circles in his shorthand, he needed to keep everything coded. He tried scribbled down several different circles and started to sketch down flaws, now he just needed to figure out how to fix them. He slowly sat down, he needed a plan on how to summon the fiends and angels to the material plane so he could get some of their blood... well it didn't really matter at the moment though, since he was nowhere near powerful enough to conjure them here. He sighed as he looked up into the clear blue sky, maybe he'd just rest here for a while.

A place of legend: Izmet's Field.

Sebastian wouldn't have known he was in a place of legend, though; he was quite lost. The Hills of Mist had only become mistier and mistier, and he had been having trouble seeing as was. He had no complaints, however, for the temperature was cool, and the atmosphere was dark. It was homey, and he liked homey.

It wasn't long, maybe fifteen minutes of walking with the occasional stop to examine the bizzarre flora, before Sebastian noticed an anomoly in the barren landscape: footsteps. Someone was here, and given what Sebastian knew about tracking, that someone was still here. He began following the tracks and was reminded of his days in the north, as a bounty hunter. The tracks were getting fresher quickly, and Sebastian guessed that whoever was here wasn't moving a lot. And then he saw the figure in the distance.

A shaded figure, but he didn't look threateningly large. He was sitting, and he was far enough in the distance that Sebastian could only barely make him out. He probably hadn't been noticed yet. With a glance behind him, he removed a ring from his pocket and slipped it on, and then he was gone. To mortal eyes, he was gone, for his ring was enchanted. He had become invisible, and thanks to his boots, his footfalls were silent.

Books of magic. That's what he saw when he got there. Books fulls of sketches and scribbles. Given Sebastian's hobby it wasn't difficult for him to recognize dark magic. Sebastian leaned over and picked up the book from the ground, examining the shorthand and triyng to decipher some of the script. He had forgotten his own presence, given his lack of influence on the material world. Consequence of actions was forgotten. He didn't even wonder how the stranger would react to his spellbook hovering five feet in the air.

Everto looked to the side, he saw his book floating quite a bit higher then himself, he looked around the spot and saw the grass bending under two areas, roughly the size and shape of boots. Someone was using an invisibility spell, he looked at how tall the book was being held, he gave a rough guess as to how high the person was, he whipped his fist back and shot it forward, he felt the familiar give of the sweet spot, he had hit his targets. He watched as the book fell, he caught it in one hand and wagged his finger at the area he guessed the being had fallen. He then chuckled, "Don't touch my stuff, what are you some kinda thief or bandit with an invisibility spell, or maybe an enchanted item, I suggest you become visible before I get angry at the fact you just tried to steal my book." He once again sits down, looking up at the sky.

The man was probably wondering why he wasn't continuing his assault, "If you're wondering why I stopped, it's simply because if you meant me harm you would have knocked me out already and stolen everything I had, as for how I knew you were there... a hovering book and the fact that I can see the grass bending under an unknown weight were key factors. As for how I knew where to punch, well lets just say with my height an upper cut or a straight punch is more then enough to hit it every time." He pocketed his book, not wanting to man to try and pick it up again. "Now are you going to turn visible and talk to me or are you going to stay there and roll on the ground in pain?" He smirked, the man deserved it for taking his book.

Sebastian was surprised by the tiny man's reaction to his floating book. He was more surprised at himself for not realizing that approaching someone and taking their things while invisible might upset them. However, his surprise was mostly replaced with pain and confusion when he received a blow of retaliation from the mage. He screwed his eyes up and hunched over as he felt pain surge from his groin up through his body, twisting his gut into knots. His hands shot to his crotch and he slumped to his knees. He didn't even think to take off the ring.

He let out a groan of pain and tried to open his mouth to reason with the imp, but only managed to let out a pathetic-sounding wheeze. He bent over further and struggled with his ring, finally manging to screw it off and shove it into his pocket, and with its disappearing act, his disappearing act came to an end.

Sebastian became visible, in all of his agonized glory. His face was contorted with pain and his hands were clutching his curdling stomach. His mouth was agape and flapping like a fish's, and he finally managed to open his eyes and let out a single, rather foul curse word.

He took his right hand from his stomach and wiped a tear out of his eye as he prepared a response to the stranger whose book he accidentally stole. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to steal your book. It just caught my eye and I wanted to have a look. I apologize for sneaking up on you. I forgot I was invisible..." he said, groaning in discomfort after his speech. "Forgive me."

He stood up and brushed off his knees, which were crossed anxiously. His eyes were focused on the magician's right hand, wary of another strike to his soft spot. "It seems we have similar interests, you see."

He looked at the man, he was lucky he hadn't used his metal knuckles, they probably would have popped. "I forgive you, just don't do it again... as for interests you are a fire mage?" He doubted it, the man didn't have that sense of flames or the smell of smoke, or maybe that was just the few fire mages he's met in his life time, oh well, if he was truly a mage, fire or not, then that means he could help him with research... if he was any good.

He took out his book and opened it up, "You wouldn't have been able to decipher much except that I tend to draw magic circles with fire symbols scattered around it to keep it in my elemental expertise. Now as for you, what magic do you study, how strong are you spells, and quite frankly, how do you cast your spells... verbally, hand-language, or in a foreign tongue? Or possibly, like me, you can just cast without speaking." It was one of his favorite talents, using magic without speaking had let him win many a fight, once he learned how to better cast in combat he would easily dominate in close range and long range.

Sebastian shuddered visibly. Fire magic was not a favorite of his, but it certainly kept him in line. Everto wouldn't have guessed it, but he would not be trifled with by the frostborne genasi; fire was Sebastian's greatest fear and weakness, and heat in itself made him terribly uncomfortable. Knowing that this mage had the potential to conjure an inferno at a moment's notice made him squirm.

"I'm not a fire mage, no, though I am a magician," Sebastian answered casually before listening to Everto's numerous questions. He seemed very curious about magic. "I'd like to say my spells are quite powerful, though few in number. I try to stay away from fire magic, however; I'd rather not be burned. I'm far more comfortable in my own element: Cold." As Sebastian explained his situation, he couldn't help but keep his eye on one of the circles in Everto's spellbook.

"And I cast with various gestures and short incantations, you know..." he explained, not bothering to mention that he really only uses magic for gaining an upper-hand in battle. "But some spells require a little more extensive preparations... salts, herbs, and... circles." Sebastian paused and turned his gaze to the little fire mage's eyes.

"I brought up our overlapping interests because I desire to summon a demon, and not a small one."

A demon... so he recognized a few of the circles, Everto just smirked, "Demon summoning is tricky business, and I doubt we'd be strong enough to summon one from one plane to another, though the fact that you're doing the same research as me makes me happy, this means you might have pieces to the puzzle that I don't." He doubted it, but there was still a chance that the magician knew something he didn't.

Everto flipped open his book, "Okay, what kind of demon are you summoning, does it need to be of a specific element, what magic circles and ingredients do we need, oh, and can I have some of it's blood after we kill it, if we summon it of course." He was sure it was to kill it, few bothered to summon demons unless it was for pacts, despicable horrible pacts, and to slay a certain demon. He scratched his head though, could this spaced out person really be trying to summon a demon to kill it... no, the more likely one is that he wants to make a pact, if so, he'd deal the man another blow to his pride... with his metal knuckles as aid.

Sebastian nodded. He knew most of what Castor had said, although he never intended to summon a demon himself. It was true, demon summoning was tricky business, summoning one from one plane to another. However, a powerful and willing demon would be easy to summon if all you had to do was provide the gateway. Sebastian had never considered that perhaps just summoning one forcibly would be easier.

"Not fire, preferably," Sebastian chuckled in answer to the tiny magician, and then it hit him. "Wait--after we kill it? I don't think you understand... Certainly demons and devils, as do any other outer-planar beings, have valuable parts, but I have no intention of killing any demon I summon," Sebastian decided not to disclose his personal reasons for making a pact with a devil, but he thought that he made his point quite clearly.

"Why would you want to kill such an immensely powerful and... potentially giving creature?"

Everto grinned, "I'm going to kill it because I need it's blood, an angel's to, though I bet the angel will just cut their arm and give me some, unlike a demon who I'll beat to death with my own two hands and with my spells. Plus, any idiot that makes a pact with a demon will lose their soul, do you know how often people try to sell their souls to demons and only get killed because the demon is already bored with the creature? About ten out of fifteen summoners just get flat out killed, though if you want to make a deal with it the best thing to do is show that you're either stronger then it or are an interesting specimen." He would continue in a moment, summoning here would be for the best.

He bit his thumb, tearing the skin enough for a small stream of blood to flow out, the blood started to form and make designs on the ground, his blood was the perfect medium for any magical circle since he was part demon and the son of a mage. After the circle's completion he sucked on his thumb to stop the bleeding, satisfied with his magic circle. "This is a summoning circle, it'll allow you to summon a demon, though from my designs it's set for an arch-fiend, I need to figure out how to lower the power of the summoning circle without weakening the protection runes I've imbued into it, whenever I try to rewrite it the protection runes grow weak, I know I'm missing something, oh and don't worry, unless I use my trigger for the magic circle it's just a circle made of half-demon blood." He shrugged, maybe the man knew something he didn't.

Then he thought, maybe the man really wants to make a deal with a demon, maybe he should explain more about them, "My father is a demon, he told me never to make a deal with one, they will betray you at their most convenient time, or at your least convenient time, you'd be better asking a quest from an angel or going the long route like I did and study for a hundred years." He calmly studied his circle, trying himself to see if he had missed something with trying to power it down, maybe he should try elementals first and adapt their summoning to his own needs.

"You don't understand, do you? You really underestimate my intelligence if you think I'd allow a demon to destroy me," Sebastian said, insulted. He had spent years meticulously planning for the day he'd be made whole once more. No devil could lose interest in the man who fooled a hundred eager men into following his dummy religion before killing every one of them without a second thought.

Besides, with his power combined with the power of an archfiend's, even if the demon tried anything funny, Sebastian could keep him easily subdued. He may not have spent a hundred years, but he had spent some time researching demons. He knew what he was doing--or so he thought.

"No angel would take pity on me," Sebastian laughed, staring the tiny half-fiend in his red eyes. "And I don't have a hundred years to study. See, I'm a half- elemental, and regrettably, I did not inherit my father's ever-lasting life," he sighed, turned away from Everto, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "My father, the perilous frost elemental, Rimeheart, scourge of the frozen north, made the mistake of falling in love with a mortal," the frostborne sorcerer spat, putting a malicious inflection on the word "love."

"He selflessly threw away his immortality so that he could take on a human form and have a child with my mother before disappearing into the great unknown forever, and while I thank my father for allowing me to be here today, I also curse him a fool for what he did to himself. I, Sebastian Rimeheart, son of the frigid northlands themselves, intend to correct his mistake and become immortal myself. However, I need a demon's help," Sebastian explained.

"However, I will help you kill your demon, should you summon it, if it means you will share some of the secrets of your research with me..." Sebastian proposed, ignoring Everto's warnings.

He could feel anger flowing through his body, he was insulting the gifts he was given, sure a short life, that just meant he needed to make it worth while, his problem was natural, though his attitude about love and not being immortal just made his blood boil. He could feel the flames wanting to appear in his hands, he gritted his teeth, "I suggest you speak very carefully, I will not tolerate insults about family, only a blasted fool wants immortality just because he didn't get that ability, look at me, I have a freaking curse to make me look like a kid, same as my father, but I don't curse him or my mother." He couldn't calm down, he wanted to incinerate the stupid half-elemental, he needed to be taught a lesson, "Having a short life just means you have inspiration and drive, as I have a long life I find myself leisurely reading and I'll never have the same drive as a human, and you're trying to get rid of that precious gift from your mother... despicable." Everto put his hands in his pocket, fitting them into his metal knuckles, if this stupid man decided to fight he would incinerate him in an instant.

He brought out his fists, metal knuckles on his hands, ready to fight, "Now speak again, this time be very, VERY careful." Green flames licked at his hands, he would end the man if he felt the idiot was this selfish.

Sebastian turned to see Everto growing increasingly irritated, even having the gall to draw weapons. The frost genasi did have reservations because of the fire mage's choice in magic school, but he wouldn't hesitate to do away with the tiny creature if he had to. "You're a fool, half-fiend," Sebastian spat, his eyes igniting mysteriously, glowing an intense and frigid blue through the mist. "I'll correct you."

In a flash, his two blades were drawn, and he charged at the mage, before muttering a short incantation. With a flash, an icy mist appeared surrounding the figures, colder than ice. The cold was no matter for the frostborne; in fact, he hardly noticed it. It only made him feel more comfortable. However, when the freezing mist made contact with Everto, it would almost surely take its chilling magical effect, freezing on contact with his pale skin.

As Sebastian reached his target, he slashed his right-hand sword down on the half-fiend, aiming for his face.

The fool was rushing, he should fight like a mage, not a cowardly bull, he immediately back pedaled away, conjuring his own magic, unleash a blast of flames from his palm at him. He smirked, he was foolish to think he could win, he bit his thumb once more, ripping it open to let more blood spill onto the ground. He was under a bit of stress, it would take a bit longer to get the theory down for the spell. He raised his fists, keeping them up high in a defensive stance, he leaned his upper body forward, sticking out his head as the rest of his body stayed a bit farther away, it was awkward but a smart move, defense was necessary, and with this stance he was making his head a target, one thing people would love to attack, it was time to take this battle into his own hands.

His mind flowed with the necessary theory and power, his nerves forcing him to only keep half of his mind focused on theory and magic while the other had to keep his guard up. His mind was a buzz of information, tactics, and most importantly, spells. If need be he would simply just set him on fire and leave him to burn to death, no, he should do something else first, his summoning spell would need to go off first. He at least deserved a warning, "I suggest you sheathe your weapons and choose your words much more carefully, don't underestimate me just because I'm small!" He gritted his teeth, trying to get the spell to come forth.

"You're a fool," Sebastian said as he flew by the magician, his swords cutting through the air where Everto had been only moments previously. He pivoted quickly to face the imp demon, and as a ball of flame came directly at him, he ducked out of the way, feeling the heat of the ignited gas singe his cheek as it roared dangerously past him. The icy mist still hung in the air, but Everto's fire spell seemed to have kept it from clinging to him.

"I suggest you sheathe your weapons and choose your words much more carefully. Don't underestimate me just because I'm small!" The frostborne laughed. Sebastian wasn't underestimating him. So far, the half-fiend was only about as powerful as he had expected him to be, and he didn't anticipate a sudden spike in his power any time soon. Even the tiny sorcerer's fire spells didn't frighten Sebastian in his element. He was surrounded by cold and frost. He was at home, and he would wring out the half-demon's black blood and hang him to dry.

"You are a waste of your father's blood, you ungrateful imp," the genasi snarled, and he began to cast another spell. This one, like his last, required minimal preparations. He snapped a multi-syllabic word of command before curling his fingers into a fist and then extending them.

"Die," Sebastian commanded as his spell was unleashed upon Everto. If successful, the half-fiend would begin to sweat uncontrollably

Everto wanted to rip the blasted fool's head off now, he loved his parents and appreciated the gifts he was given even though the curse was unwanted instead of complaining about it he was researching a cure. He saw the half-breed cast another spell, it was to late though, Everto smiled, green flames erupting from his hands as he slammed it into the magic circle. A large glass arm reached out, then the rest of it surfaced, blocking the spell that had aimed at Everto. He smirked, "You were warned fool, I have many spells that equal the power of Glaiser my glass golem, and do not worry, he is quite resilient to anything but maces, oh, it looks like you only have blades and ice magic, now will you surrender or do I have to go on the offensive?" He was already concentrating to to bring out another fire spell. this next spell would simply set him on fire. Though now he felt something odd, he was sweating, heavily, and the ice mist in the air was causing the sweat to chill him to the bone, he needed to knock him out or force him to retreat or run away himself, the sweating was dangerous if it kept up, not to mention the freezing mist would weaken his fire magic, he grinned, the guy was smarter then he gave him credit for, the freezing mist with the sweat would force a lot of uncomfortable movement and extreme weakening if it went on for to long. He should end this man quickly.

Glaiser changed the shape of his arms to look like blades, large scything blades meant to take off the heads of several enemies. Glaiser stood at six feet tall but his body was made of pure glass, shiny smooth glass. He raised his scything arms and made for Sebastian, hacking and slashing with his arms, swinging them as if they were blades. Glaiser knew what he was doing, it was the same as always, Everto summoned him and he killed the person until Everto thought he had taken to much damage, he was a good master, a bit small, but a good master.

((OOC:Used Summon Glass Golem and I am preparing Ignite. Mentioned the icey mist freezing the new sweat at the end of the first paragraph.))
