Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Denmar smiled, bowing deeply as he made his way onto the stage. His third performance of the night, and already he'd made more than enough to pay for the room tonight. And he still had another run after this that he'd promised to do.

He nodded to the small band that had been set up on the stage for the past several hours now, clearing his throat momentarily as they fiddled with knobs and such on their instruments, making a few last minute adjustments for this set.

When they had finally finished, he nodded, and the music started. His voice came out strong, carrying well over the music as it was, only aided by the fact that he clearly had training in singing. The song ran rather well, and when he was finished, there was the jingling of coin being thrown onto the stage as he took a deep bow, sweeping his hat from his head and waving it across in front of him.

Gathering up the coins, he hopped down from the stage and headed over to the bar, tossing a few of the coins down as the bartender slid a drink across to him. "Thanks," he said, downing the small glass in one swallow. Sighing, he settled down on one of the stools, stifling a yawn as he did so. "Gah. Getting tired," he muttered, shaking his head.

Ouroboros had watched the singing for a while, of course he had to sit at the back of the room, his eyes had magic runes placed inside them, giving them a slight green glow. He saw the bard drink and sit down, he felt it was as good time as any. He could feel something from the bard, something out of balance, being the direct individual he was, he walked over to the bard, extending his hand. "I am Boros the Seer, I see imbalance in your life."

He knew he didn't have much social tact so he just went for the direct approach, even if it did make most people freak out and run away. All he could do was hope someone would let him help them, it was what he decided he had to do, make the world balanced.

Denmar raised an eyebrow, eying the proffered hand with distrust. "Can't help you with that. Don't know enough about my life to tell you anything about where the imbalance might be," he said, shaking his head with a shrug. He couldn't understand why this strange person would have even approached him. He personally had come to grips with the fact that there were things he would rather not remember, that there were reasons he couldn't remember anything before awaking in the middle of those ruins.

He sighed. "But if it matters to you that much, the name's Denmar," he said. "Trust me, there isn't that much about me that warrants that much interest on your part. Unless you want to be bored to death, might want to move along," he said softly. "And before you ask, no, I don't know how I'm so good at singing. I just know I am, so I use it to make my way in the world."

"Bored? I don't really get bored, everything in the world is fascinating, the mechanics of the world, finding a way to keep it in balance. As a seer I find people interesting, I have seen most of these things in books, but it is something else to experience. The world is full of wonder, it is sad to see things out of balance. But I ramble on, I think someone who performs for a life is rather interesting, why not tell me of your life, it is something I haven't read in books."

Boros was somewhat excited even if his face hardly changed, he loved knowledge. History, Magic, any kind of knowledge he memorized and kept with him, he planned on writing a book at the end of his journey to bring balance, but first he should help this bard and figure out what his imbalance is. If he could help out the bard, this would be his first step into helping the world go back into balance.

Denmar raised an eyebrow, looking over at this very strange individual. "Like I said, don't remember much of my life, and don't see any reason to," he said quietly, pushing his raven black hair behind the somewhat pointed ears that marked him as a half-elf. "First thing I can remember is waking up almost a year ago in the ruins of an old city, with no clue who I was, where I was, or why I was there. Only reason I know my name now is because of this," he said, shaking the sleeve on his tunic back to reveal a steal bracelet with an engraved plate in the middle of it.

"After that, I kinda wandered for a month or two, wound up in Cascadia. Started singing there, and have been wandering ever since, going city to city to make a living. I make a decent one, but sometimes it gets a little tough."

"Amnesia... that is the imbalance I sense... I would have had violent visions if it weren't for these," he motions to the runes glowing in his eyes. "I used to have a problem, whenever I got near a person I got visions of their past, or visions of the people who... well lets just say I have a colorful past." Boros could feel a strain on his eyes, as long as the runes stayed on his eyes, he wouldn't have violent visions, the only thing that they didn't block were his night terrors, though he doubted the young bard would care.

"Well I am sorry if I am disturbing you, I tend to... I believe father said I was to direct, to blunt, and to tactless I believe were his words, if you would like me to leave you alone, please tell me." Being honest brutally honest was part of him, even if it was for them to tell him to go away, its happened before, he knew it would happen many more times, but he didn't care. For ever five people who tell him to go away, one person keeps on talking to him, and that one person is someone he tends to find extraordinary.

He sighed, shaking his head. "I've pretty much accepted that there's a reason I don't remember where I came from," he said with a smile. This time, when he turned, he didn't just turn his head, he turned his entire body. Now the pure white irises would be visible, a mark of either special sight, or complete and total blindness. Given the way the pupils pointed straight ahead no matter how his body moved, it was likely the latter.

"Though I'm figuring my amnesia has something to do with this," he said, one hand coming up to press between his eyes. "Not that I'm complaining. I may not be able to see, but there are other forms of getting around. Part of the reason I've worked so hard on making sure my singing skills stayed up where they are," he said. "And don't worry. I'm glad of the conversation. Been a while since I've actually taken the time to just talk to someone."

Boros was glad, he was having quite a bit of fun talking to the blind bard. "I try to talk to people, but they usually can't get past some of my... physical features, I guess they think its barbaric or scary to have runes inscribed into your eyes, especially when they glow." He smirked, he doubted that he would believe him, but it didn't quite matter, he liked his glowing eyes, it tended to break the concentration of foes in combat, a second of hesitation is all he needs for his hands to do their deadly deed.

Taking a seat next to the bard he looks at the crowd, unbalanced drinking, eating, but it was an odd harmony, as if the unbalance in this place is what balanced it out... he would have to think of this another time though, he wanted to keep a conversation going with his new friend. "How do you plan on going from town to town, are you going to try and walk the path or go with a caravan, or perhaps you'd prefer to stay in this town?" His curiosity got the better of him once more, he wanted to know how exactly he planned on doing almost everything in his life without the aid of sight or memory.

He smiled. "Well, that must be just as disconcerting as someone thinking I couldn't hit the broadside of the barn and then they get hit out of nowhere," he said with a laugh. "Course, never mind that it's Warbler who hits them, and not me. They still think it is. I have a flair for the dramatic, I have to admit."

He shook his head. "I pretty much wander. When you're blind, you find that while some people will think they can rip you off," he said, slapping his hand down on the coin sitting next to his drink as the barkeep went to reach for it. "I haven't even covered that coin with drinks or food yet. Don't even," he said, his voice low, almost a deep bass.

The bartender walked off, and he shook his head. "But there are those that are kind and generous, and more than willing to help out those with unfortunate circumstances."

"Yeah, I tend to hit people out of nowhere to when the time comes, but that's mainly because I know where the blind spot is on the human, exactly how and where to strike from so they won't see the punch coming... unless they take a step back of course." He enjoyed humanoid anatomy quite a bit, he studied it with his father to learn how to effectively tear an opponent down with only using his hands, of course martial training from one of his friends helped even more so.

"If I had tarot cards or a crystal ball I could tell you the future, thanks to my... condition, my father found out I was a natural at scrying, I tend to offer my services depending on the areas or days, today I'd do it for free, getting a following in a small town like this with lots of wanderers coming and going would spread my name as a Seer." He loved that term, Seer, those who can see and change the future, he wanted to become a Seer that could change the future and keep the world balanced.

"Have you ever considered becoming a big time bard, playing for royalty or nobility?" He had never met anyone famous before, but he did want to know someone who aspired for fame, he could document their experience, maybe even be part of it, even though he knew he'd serve the world from his home as a seer, he hoped to be able to give suggestions to men and women of great power and try to lead them on a path to Balance.

He chuckled, shaking his head with a grin. "I can understand that. I'm not that good, Warbler usually just dive bombs the back of their head. I have to try and keep him close though. As small as he is, he's in danger of getting eaten every day. But he's been my friend fr as far back as I can remember, and I seem to remember him being around me far longer than that."

He chuckled. "Sorry, but I'm not one for trying to outsmart fate. I'd have to decline your offer even if you had the supplies you needed. And as for playing for the nobility, I don't much care for their attitude. I prefer being appreciated for my talents, not my shortcomings," he said, shrugging. "I contemplated it, and even talked to a couple of people, but they acted like they were sorry for me, so I shut it down. Didn't want to have to deal with that."

He smiled. "I am what I am, and it has nothing to do with what I can and can't do, INCLUDING seeing with my eyes."

Vyse was quite amazed at his new friend, he seemed to sing for the sole purpose of singing, he could feel something from him... maybe what he was feeling was his own kind of Balance... even after losing so much he keeps on going with nothing more then a bird and his singing. "You my friend are amazing... you keep your art pure, not many can say that these days." He smiled, he was having a great time, he watched several men walk by, drunk of course. He heard a few of them mock his new friend for being blind... some even mocked the song he sang, 'Drunkards... they should learn a lesson in Balanced Drinking...' he reached out a finger, giving the second to last one to pass a good jolt from his spark.

The drunken man turned around, punching the man behind him, who then returned fire with his own punch. 'Whoops... I probably just started a bar room brawl...' not the best thing he's ever done, but definitely not the worst. He heard the barkeep yell at them, but the men continued to punch at each other.

Boros stood up quickly, bringing an elbow into the armpit of one of the men, causing him to fall to the side, gasping in pain. Letting out a sharp straight punch into the other man's stomach as his other hand worked itself into a powerful short uppercut, taking down one of them as the other one recovered, throwing a haphazard left hook. Dodging outside the strike he grabs the arm, bringing him forward as his other fist cracks into the side of his head, knocking him out. "I suggest you take your friends before they wake up and disturb this fine establishment anymore..." He knew he had started the fight on accident, he just hoped no one noticed.

Denmar didn't even move when the fight broke out, actually ducking beneath one wild swing without moving the rest f his body, shaking his head softly as he held up his empty mug for the bartender to refill.

He nodded once the brawl was over. "I try. So few people these days have a true appreciation for music. So I'm doing what I can to make sure that as many people regain that appreciation as possible," he said, turning and setting his foot down hard on the hand of one of the ones that had been mocking him. "Though some will never regain it," he said, reaching down and pushing the man from beneath his foot.

He sighed, shaking his head. "Though I really wish you hadn't done that. There will always be critics, and it's not going to matter what I do or how well I sing. I just let them talk. Soon enough, I will be the greatest singer in all of the world," he said quietly, with a soft smile.

Boros shrugs, "I guess you're right, but still, people like that irk me." He sat back down, ordering some water. "I have no doubt that you'll become a great singer, though I think to help that career you should head to Cascadia, its a good sized city with lots of places for you to sing at, especially the Broken Strings, they hire all kinds of musicians and singers." He hoped what little information he had about musical life in Cascadia would help his new friend.

Once his water finally arrived he drank it slowly, thinking of all the things that happened that night. "Do you do other things besides singing? I was told bards also tell tales of heroes and villains of legend," He smiled at the thought of hearing stories based upon some lowly warrior working his way to his goal using his wits and blade, he just loved a good heroic story.

He shrugged with a soft smile. "Like I said, it's something I'm used to dealing with, so it doesn't really bother me. I've learned to shrug it off." He drummed his fingers against the bar-top, tilting his head slightly. "Cascadia? Really? I'd never thought about going there. Heard there were some nasty things that lived there. But... I suppose if you say it would be a good place to get a start, I should probably go check it out."

He quirked an eyebrow, and nodded. "I've... picked up a few tales here and there. Some of them are just old legends, but I think I might remember one that is quite the epic tale of bravery and joy."

He drew a breath, his eyes closing for a moment as his fingers fidgeted against the bar top. When they opened, he began, a tale that started slow, and then picked up rather quickly.

It was a tale of a man, born of a rare bloodline in a small village. It followed the young man as he grew up, fell in love, and was betrothed just in time to watch his entire village destroyed in a raid, and the woman he loved slain while he was held incapacitated.

The tale carried on beyond that point, continuing as the man devoted himself to training, learning how to fight with no weapons whatsoever. As it continued, it seemed at first like that was all he would be, until the tale found him meeting and falling in love with an avatar.

The tale took another turn for the worse, as the goddess the avatar served lost her power, thus dooming her avatar, once again taking from the man the woman he loved. However, the tale didn't end on this sad note, as he found the strength within himself to continue fighting, even in spite of these losses.

He took a deep breath, shaking his head. "Unfortunately, that is as far as I can go. I do not know any more, nor do I know if he ever found another love, or a way to bring back one of the first two."
