| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Chris was upset and he had been it the last days. He just did not know how to get out his pumped up anger and upset emotions in a good enough way, it was like he was going to burst at any given second! He did not want to speak with anyone at all, he just was to himself away from everything...training. It helped to train and keep his mind on something else, away from those people and his confused life. The young man had found himself a small area away from Kaess large strone building, the ground was covered in large pieces of broken rocks from all the times the young weretiger had used his burnind fists to blast them into pieces. His clothes was covered in sot, along with his skin and hair. He was sweaty and going by how long he had been there he had trained without rest for a long time. The body told him to stop and this was enough, but he did not listen and just continued to punch at the mountainside. Chris face was serious like the rock, focused and determined on what he was doing, the first was flaming hot and he punched....over and over again. But the punching slowly moved away from being training, he just punched because he was angry now...sending out sparks of heated everytime he landed the fist onto the heated rock wall. The heat did not bother him as much now, he was immune to it around the hands and feet, the rest of him was not immune...but even so it was used to it by now. Chris made a pause and ran one hand over his face to remove the stands of hair hanging down over his eyes. It all hurt so much and he knew that Kaess told him they had to help Fara're remember, but he just could not do anything about how he was feeling and so far as he noticed they all seemed so worried about how sad it was when Fara're suddenly lost her memories and how important it was to ger her memories back. What about him then!? He had been perfectly happy and he had lost his life two times in a row, no one seemed to give a damn about that at all. It made him so angry he just wanted to kick something and kicking something was what he did now. His foot landed against the mountain wall, it did not do the same damage the punch had done earlier. Yet he did not care and just continued to kick. He just wanted all these emotions to go away and leave him alone. The young teen did not even noticed that his feet started to give away smoke as he kicked, neither did he care when the foot itself suddenly bursted into flames. He did not feel the fire and the heat, it was all the same to him now. Like the wizard at the academy had told him earlier, fire was tied to the emotions and when Chris was angry his powers became more angry. Unlike water fire was much more to passion and destruction, it was a dangerous power if used in the wrong place. This was why Chris was training here in a place where he could not do any harm to innocent people. |

Kaess had been watching the boy from a behind a few rocks. He was up wind so the boy wouldn’t smell him either. He had been concerned when the boy had wandered off on his own. He could understand the boys frustration with all that had happened recently. Still he seemed even more frustrated, then just the meeting with Fara… ‘Did something else happen.’ His thoughts were interrupted when he saw Chris’ feet light on fire. The boy seemed to control it out of instinct. He truly was talented in that area, still he could tell that was enough. If Chris continued any longer he might actually seriously hurt himself. Over extended muscles could snap and without powerful healing magics, cripple a person. He moved over his form blurring with his speed and attempted to catch on of Chris’ kicks. “Alright Son that is enough breaking rocks for you. You know you could seriously hurt yourself like this. Still I understand you are frustrated, I can understand a little. Come sit with me and I will listen to whatever you want to say. Just let out everything, but try not to strain your body more alright?” His eyes showed concern and he really was ready to do whatever was needed to calm the boy down and work through all this with him. He did understand the pain of being left as his father had left him alone when he was just a boy. He had left almost immediately after his mother had been murdered too. That had been very hard to deal with for years. If Chris relaxed bit he would smile and add. “On another note you did well finding out how to wrap flames around your feet, just be careful with that move or you might light your own pants on fire. I almost did that the first time I learned that move. It was rather embarrassing.” |

Chris was very surprised when something grasped his ankle when he was about to hit the rock with his burning foot once again, of course he quickly noted that it was Kaess. Yeah he had gone to far, but he did not care at all! The flames slowly died away and yeah the boys pants was slightly burned around the ends, but it seemed other then that nothing bad had happened. "..." he looked the man into the eyes and Kaess still had the ability to show that he cared and Chris knew he cared, he had been there all along and never his back on him...unlike the others. "I don't care if I hurt myself..." he let out a deep breath of air. He walked over to a large boulder and sat down on it with the legs crossed, he was looking at his own bare feet, they where covered in sot...along the rest of him. Yeah he was also a nice tan being around all this fire. "I meet Slade in the city of lanterns...he was there...." he told slowly and avoided to look at Kaess, it was such a mess he did not know what to do. "Fara're did not remember me...and Slade he just cared about finding Fara're. It was like he was blind to the fact that...he left me behind to, they both did. I'm frustrared and I do not know what to do, I'm angry and sad at the same time. It's like a pain in my chest and it gets better when I train, then I can think of something else" Chris still did not look at Kaess, he just looked down at his feet. |

Kaess sighed, but was glad the boy sat down. He listened and nodded at the lad’s words. It wasn’t an ease situation that was for sure and this Slade person was back too. Must have been Fara’s old lover, who had disappeared. He thought about how to respond, ‘My too many things at once for the poor guy. It took me years to get over my father leaving… I suppose it is my turn to be like my old master.’ He walked over and put his arm around the boy. “Well I certainly care if you hurt yourself. It would make me sad and probably make your mommy sad too even if she doesn’t remember you. I can’t say that what your feeling will get better quickly. It isn’t always easy to deal with these things, but don’t hurt yourself or you will hurt those around you too okay?” “Did you know that my father, the one you call grandfather, left me when I was just a child. He even left me right after my mother had been tortured and murdered in front of me.” He paused for a moment shaking off the thought of that night. “I hatted my father for years because he was never there for me, but when I finally met him again I was much older and had thought I would never see him again. Part of me was angry at that time, but he had a reason. A complex one that took a while for him to explain, but he was protecting me in his own way. I don’t know Slade that well so I can’t say, but I know your Mom and she probably made a similar decision before disappearing. Think of it she cared enough about you and those she loved and sacrificed even her age and memories to keep you safe from something. Plus you have the advantage that your Mommy came back alive. As long as those you care about are still alive, then you can always fix what is wrong. Once they are dead, like my mother… well the chance to fix things is gone.” He wasn’t sure if this was too much for the boy, but he sat there just hugging the boy hopping it would make him feel better. |

He did not speak and just listened to what Kaess told him, he had no idea that the elderly dragon had done something like that and just left his son. It was horrible, he could not understand what reason anyone could have to do something like that to anyone. But he did not comment or speak as long as the father was talking, well it seemed that Kaess could fogive his father even after all the things he had done. But it did not feel the same way with this, he just could not forgive any of them for what they did. "I have no other way to stop this pain, I have to train...you do not understand. I had planned so much and was going to surprise them both with fish and fruit. I planned to finally call them mom and dad, but no one came to the cave and now...well Fara're do not remember me and Slade just....seem to forget he left me behind and just thinks about Fara're. He did not listen..." He did not hug Kaess back, he did not want to hug him and the positive energy that had once been so much inside of him was gone. His ears was flatt against the head and the tail was just hanging. He wanted it all to go away, he did not want this pain...they could just have stayed gone, then he could have belived they died. But now...it was even worse then if they had really died to begin with. "I wonder....if I could find some mage to help me remove this pain..." |

Kaess released his hug realizing it wasn’t working. It seemed it was too early for rational thought to work in this situation. Then again the boy’s personality wasn’t the best for this sort of situation either. Too volatile at times still he had to think of something. It was then he realized that he could try that training. It wasn’t very physically stressful, but could be tough mentally. That skill training might take the boy’s mind off things. “Alright then I guess it took me years to come to term with things like this too. I just hope that maybe I can help get you through this faster than I did. Pain like that is terrible I know. Just try not to hurt yourself or you will give others pain like you are feeling right now. Especially your little girlfriend, back at the monastery. She was really worried when you left on your own. Still I get that you want to push the pain back with training. If you are willing to do a different bit of training I will let you practiced a new skill. It should take your mind off things for a bit at least. Alright son?” If Chris agreed Kaess would continue and explain the training. “Alright then stick out your feet and just think about pushing all the heat you can gather around your feet under you. Don’t let flames start, just push the heat out. Once I feel you are ready we can go on to the next part, understand?” He would then sit opposite of Chris about ten feet away. Opening his sense and waiting to feel the warm air Chris would generate. Judging how strong the flow was. If Chis’ feet caught fire Kaess would have have him stop and start over. |

New skill? Chris seemed to react to that, yeah something new would be a great help to keep his mind away from things like mom and dad, he nodded and listened carefully to what Kaess told him he had to be doing. Heat from his feet? But not fire...was that like how they first started the training with collecting heat around the hands and those kind of things. He examined his own feet for a moment and seemed to think over what he just heard, well he was thinking over it so...it did not just seem that way. "Push the heat out? No fire, gotcha" The weretiger took a deep breath and closed his eyes, he tried to gather the heat around him...but it was harder then it seemed. Chris had a skill to collect the raw material, that was use fire and flames, things that needed let concentration and more controll so to speak. But this was different. The temperature around his feet began to raise very quickly and it was not a surprise when the flames appeared. It happened three times and each time Chris quickly killed the fire and tried once more from the top. Yet he showed great promise in what he was doing, on the forth try flames did not appear and Kaess could feet a strong heat. Yeah it would seem the boy had done it correct and he seemed more calm when having the focus on something else and not on...well hurting himself. |

Kaess smiled watching as the boy seemed to calm down. ‘Good at least this seems to work.’ The first few failures was expected, but the boy had good instincts and soon Kaess was feeling a warm breeze pass him. Still wasn’t quite hot enough. “A bit stronger Chris” It would probably take several more tries before the heat was strong enough. The balance was a hard thing to find the first time anyone tried to do it, but after that it was easy to remember. Or at least it had been that way with him. “There we go that is good enough Chris. Now then stand up an push that heat out from your feet again.” It probably was a bit a unstable, but it would lift him off the ground a inch or so. He might even fall on his but the first time he tired this. “Now than when you master this skill you should be able to get up to about eight feet. Snow and water will prevent it from working right, but you can melt snow and create steam with this technique in those conditions, so still useful at times. But to get there you have to work on your control. Now we can do that two ways. One you can hover as high as you can go and try to keep yourself in the same spot for four hours or you can hover an inch off the ground and take a slow walk up the mountain and back to the monastery. Your choice of course.” He wondered which path the boy would chose. Both were difficult in their own right, but neither would be too physically demanding. |

Chris did not know where this was going, he had no idea what good all this would do for him in getting a new skill? But he did as he was told and jumped down from the rock, he tried to focus like he had done earlier to gather the heat around his feet, pushing it out and making it hotter...and hotter. He was very surprised when his feet left the ground and just like Kaess imagined he began to fall backwards, but he did not land on his butt. Chris twisted the body in the air and landed perfectly on his feet after a volt backwards. He did look a little surprised and looked down at his own feet, then towards Kaess. "Can we fly?" he asked and sounded very surprised to have noticed this, not in a bad way surprised of course...more that was a surprise surprise. "That's....cool?" he smiled a little and the ears twitched a few times. Well he just had to try again, this time he was more ready to what was going to happen, he gathered the heat once more and soon felt his feet leave the ground. To a normal person it would have been very hard to hold the balance...but Chris was a master with using his own body so he did not have any trouble with keeping himself steady. He did it a few times to train, but he was very fast to get a hang on how he was suppose to do, the only problem was the focus and concentration, like a kitten he had a hard time to keep himself fixed on doing one thing for longer then what was needed. So it was not a surprise what he picked when Kaess told him he could pick one of two things. "I will walk back, I could not stand to stay still for four hours. But I can not promise I will...walk down." he grinned a little to his own words, yeah he was going to make sure he could run like this...run in the air how awesome was that?! The thoughts about Fara're and Slade was gone for the moment, maybe that was a good thing in itself. He could calm down and maybe be a little calmer for a real talk later on. |

Kaess had suspected the boy’s choice would be to walk, but he knew Chris too. He suspected that the boy was thinking of running or jumping around with these new powers. ‘Well I will put a stop to those thoughts quickly enough.’ He stood up stretching his wings getting ready to take to the sky. “Alright then though make sure you walk the entire distance. Speed is counterproductive to this test. If you start running or jumping around you will have to come back and start over. Don’t think I won’t know if you try running. You know how well that has worked out for you in the past.” Still he couldn’t hold the boy back too much and grinned a little as he took off with a few parting words, “Then again you just have to walk the distance I asked you too. If you take a bit longer I am sure that would be alright, just don’t do too much. Well see you at the monastery.” Soon Kaess was in the air getting higher and higher until it would be hard to see him up there. Kaess planned to circle around a few times and watch Chris for the first few minutes before flying back to the monastery. He was sure the boy would do alright. |

Chris eyes widened a little when the man told him he could not run or he would have to start over again, how did he know that he planned to run?! That was so not fair at all....gaaah!!! "But..." he did not have more time before Kaess left into the air, he followed the man with his eyes and then he kicked a small rock with his foot and sent it flying a few yards. "Boring...I hate to walk" but he knew that the teacher was not joking and would do what he said if Chris did not do as he was told. He began to make himself float, it was not that hard after training...then he started to walk. It was boring to say the least....just walking was no fun at all. Buuut he did walk a little faster, but it was still very much walking. |

The farther Chris walked the harder it would be to maintain the skill, not just because of the concentration, but because of the constant shift in temperature of the ground. Shadowed areas would be cooler, other with more sun hotter, and once he got closer to the monastery underground flows of lava would affect the temperature too. All this had to be adjusted for. This was of course the true task. As he walked Chris might realize that Kaess’ last words had said he just had to walk the distance he could stop and play around at any point during the walk. As long as he always restarted his walk from the point he stopped he would be fine. Kaess probably even expected him to test out this ability along the way. Regardless he would see Kaess near the entrance of the monastery when he finally go there. OOC: Consider this a task post so try to make it a bit longer and descriptive, at least 300 words. Then you will have completed this task. |

Chris walked down the side of the mountain, the familiar way he knew in order to get back to the monastary. He he walked up and down this way many times in the past so he knew the way by heart...he knew all the rocks and shapes that could be called special and different on the way down and up. It was starting to be how he knew so many places in Norwood forest! But right now he had to think about something else, the walking in the air part of what he was doing. It felt weird to walk on hot air...it was a little strange to say the least. The weretiger was just about to pass a shadow when he suddenly almost lose control and began to fall down, as a reflex the youngster quickly focused and made the flames hotter! This was he was able to keep himself floating in the air, what just happened!? Chris looked around curiously, he did not get it at first. But then he noticed the shadow he was standing in...oh of course the air was colder in the shadow then it was in the light! He did not think that it would be so easy to notice! Well he knew that now, no problem at all. The adventure continued down the side of the mountain and it was going pretty well most of the way, he did pause a few times because he felt like...well testing his powers and see if he could get a little higher into the air. But the next event that he did not think about was...once he came closer to the flowing lawa from the vulcano! This time the reaction was the opposite from the last, he found himself going further up into the air! Chris let out a small yelp in pure surprise and began to fall backwards towards the ground. But because of his flexible body he was able to twist himself and land on his feet. He was also able to land in such a way that he was still floating in the air itself. "Wow that was close" He ran one hand over his forehead and then he continued to walk. He noticed Kaess outside of the building when he came closer, but he knew that the man was there just going by the scent in the air. "I'm back and I made it....never ask me to do that again, walking is the most boring thing I know. Next to vegetables..." |

Kaess looked at the boy and almost laughed at his comment, but he managed to keep a straight face. He did smile at the boy’s arrival. When Kaess spoke his voice sounded like it was joking, but Chris probably couldn’t be sure, “Well then I should make a large batch of vegetables for dinner. Despite what you think the unpleasant things are sometimes good for you. Walking will sometimes get you to your destination faster than running. Though I suppose if you remember that patience is a virtue you will probably have learned enough for the moment. Anyways good job son and go inside and relax for a bit. I am sure your little girlfriend is waiting inside for you. As I said she has been worried about you all day.” Kaess then turned going back into the monastery to help the other students. Letting Chris just do what he wanted to for the moment. However, at the same time Kaess knew he would have to start preparing several things soon, because Chris was getting closer to the final trials. It would be interesting to see how Chris did in those trials. Chris was his first student to even approach mastery after all and even Kaess could be a bit nervous. Anyways good job son and go inside and relax for a bit. I am sure your little girlfriend is waiting inside for you. He did like fruits like apples, but not to many at the same time. "Welll....sure, but I wont eat it" He replied slowly with a serious face. "I will hunt for my own dinner and eat it raw." he added after a small pause. Yeah he could do that without any problem at all, he was hunter and knew these mountains well enough to know where to find food. "Patience is boring..." these words was a comment to himself more then to the others. He slowly walked inside of the building after Kaess, making his way though the building to find where Tulip was. He could easily detect her just by following her scent in the air. |
