Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Zodiac would just not stop. The demoness seemed intent on doing anything and everything to annoy her. Her hand went to rest on her sword, ready to carry out her threat. But then I occurred to her…killing Chrono would not harm Zodiac. Killing the man would only give what Zodiac wanted, and she was not about to walk into her trap. Shalia released her blade and resorted to a murderous glare.

As Zodiac went to probe Chrono’s mind, he seemed to regain control of his body. And he did not seem too pleased with the fact that someone was probing around in his memories. She shook her head, the fool should have never summoned a demon that was outside of his power to control.

“Banging your head on the table won’t help keep her out you know,” she said.
But she could imagine how frustrating it would be to have someone poking around in your mind. He likely had no private thoughts any longer. What she was about to offer would help him if he could master it. But that was not the reason why she was going to do this, it was to get a small bit of revenge on Zodiac.

“I can offer something that will help keep her out of someone of your thoughts,” she said. “It’s hard to learn and master, harder even when you already have someone poking around in your mind. But I know how to set up mental barriers. You won’t be able to keep her out of all of your thoughts, but you can at least have some means of keeping her out of your more private thoughts.”

He can feel Zodiac digging deep inside his mind. He knew because he can recall every memory that she was unveiling for the sake of her wretched entertainment. There were just some things he wished to forget, and some that he wished to remain undisclosed to strangers. Even though it did nothing, pressing his hand against his head at least help him in a way, it made him feel as if there was something he could do to stop her...even though there may not be.

Or maybe not yet.

He heard the voice of the woman that Zodiac had the pleasure of taunting a while ago. She seemed like she wanted to help but he had figured that she was doing it out of spite against Zodiac. It did not take a genius to figure that part out. The enemy of my enemy is friend. Zodiac was definitely not a friend.

"Every little bit helps, I guess," he muttered through semi-gritted teeth as he gazed at her. At this moment, he was in control, without any influence from Zodiac. And he thought that she was quite an attractive woman.

Damn it.

Now Zodiac would know of that as well.

Zodiac seemed to be having fun in the man’s mind. If he could learn the tricks she could teach him…then it would put a damper on Zodiac’s little parade. Of course it would not completely keep her out of his thoughts, or keep her from taking control of his body. But he could at least have a few private thoughts. And that alone was enough to annoy the demoness.

“Well since this is your first time doing this, start small,” she began. “Setting up a mental barrier is sort of like building a wall around a treasure, but you only have so many stones. The smaller the treasure, the stronger you can make your wall. The lager it is, then you have stretch out your ‘stones’ and thus the wall is weaker. The fewer thoughts you choose to protect, the harder it will be for her to get in. The more you try to protect, the more likely it is she will find a crack in your defense.”

“Of course it will be harder to build this wall with her already in your mind, but we might as well try. The way I do it, is I choose the thought I wish to protect. Then imagine building a wall around it and covering it with a roof. In this case your tools are your own mental will power. When you feel her pushing against the wall you set up, focus on that spot and push back. But take care not to use too much force in one area, or else another area will become weak and she might try to quickly attack that spot before you can fight her off.”

She knew it was confusing. But it really was not something that was easy to learn. The best way for him to learn was to practice and be defeated many times. When he chose a memory to protect, she likely would attack it out of spite. This would let him learn how to combat her.

“Also...I have a question. Does she ever seem to go dormant or sleep?” she asked. If she did, then that would be the perfect time for him to set up a barrier without her knowing. Then it would be harder for her to even find the memory he was protecting. It was also during that period she could teach him other methods of distracting her for his protected thoughts, without her know what those tactics were.

"I see," he nodded as took that all in. It was quite different and difficult for him to grasp it but he really had no more options. He had never dabbled in the psionic arts, he was more of alchemic and smithing. Still, it never hurts to try. He imagined that his thoughts were a picture in his head. And he imagined placing it inside a box or a chest. But...it was no use.

"It's no use, she's already seeing some of it," he muttered as he tried to focus more. Still, the effort was a bit futile as Zodiac found what she had been looking for, at least, not all thoughts were seen.

"She's dormant usually in the early morning after the break of dawn," he heaved and sigh and tried to put some of his untouched thoughts away from Zodiac. Even though he knew that she can still break into them if she placed effort, he figure that he would not let her get to them so easily.

"She stopped," he sighed, "I guess she found what she wanted. But I doubt it's over."

"It's just beginning, of course," Zodiac's voice spoke this time. His eyes turned to Shalia but those eyes were Zodiac's. "What's this? It seems that you have taken an interest in the boy," she teased her.
