Another city, another tavern. Zodiac has been leading Chrono all over the place and they had always ended up in taverns and inns. He was curious as to why but every time he asked, she would just shush him and look around. If what they was seeking for was not nearby or there, they would eat, rest, then leave. What made this different? Suddenly, he felt a dreary aura from in him. Zodiac was sensing something...or someone. Something was telling him that whatever she had been looking for, it was right here. What or who was it was beyond him. Zodaic seemed...excited, but agitated. It made him even more curious. Why try and find something that would upset you? Unless it was revenge, he saw no other reason. Thus, he decided right here and now that if it were a part of a revenge plan, he would not soak his hands in blood. But all he could do at the moment was wait...for what or whoever it was. |

Balefire seemed to be becoming a common place for her to step foot into. It was a place she could walk without fear of her nature being revealed. Yet it was most likely the most dangerous city in all of Imythess. Demons, were-creatures, and many others spurned by mankind come here. And not all of them had peaceful intentions to those who crossed their paths. That was why Shalia wore her blade openly all would know she was not one to take lightly. She came the Purple Lantern Tavern and stepped in. She noticed some of its normal patrons, and many new ones. Many eyes fell upon her…for not many women came into this place. Although she was thankful that this time people seemed wise enough not to mess with her. The women who come to Balefire often proved to be just as strong, if not stronger, than the men. Thus, they were treated with more respect to avoid getting beaten. Shalia made her way through the crowd to an open seat at the bar. The bar keeper walked up to her and took her drink order before heading off to get it. Moments later he returned with a glass of wine in hand, and placing it before the tiefling woman. She picked up the glace and took a small sip of it, as if testing to make sure it was not contaminated with something. Once she seemed satisfied that nothing was in it she took another drink from it. As she sat there her bright lavender eyes looked over the room. She was watching always watching and never let her guard down. Although something was making her feel uncomfortable tonight. Something familiar and disturbing. It was almost as if someone she knew was watching and looking for her. She casually place a hand on the hilt of her sword as she kept her vigilant watch. |

As heads turned, so had Chrono's. He saw a woman, wearing her blade and showing it to any spectators. She seemed strong, so strong that Zodiac's excitement went from mild and into slightly chaotic. Without realizing it, his feet are now taking him towards where the woman was seated. It was probably Zodiac in control of the body now. His walk was casual and his air was quite brimming with confidence. Does Zodiac know this person? It was strange to see people they know in new lands. After all, they had been banished into this unknown region. "Greetings," Zodiac called out using Chrono. One of his eyes was now of gold and more cat-like, with a fang protruding out the lip. "I believe we have had the pleasure of meeting in the past. Is this seat taken?" He asked and motioned to the free seat beside her. Of course, Chrono could not do a thing. He was powerless over her control when it came to matters like this. Once she had set her sight on something, she would do anything to get it. But from what he saw, she would only do so when it is of grave importance. "My name is Zodiac, by the way, do you remember?" |

Shalia did not miss the fact that a man was now heading her way. She could sense the demon blood in him. The centuries she had spent in hell had made her attuned to the presence of demon powers. The single yellow and the fang merely confirmed her suspicion of the man’s heritage. She hoped that he was merely heading in her direction by coincidence, and that she was not his intended destination. But to her annoyance, she indeed was the target. She looked up at him with her lavender eyes as he greeted her and asked if the seat was available. “If you must sit then sit,” she said in a bored tone. “But why must you choose to sit next to me instead of one other empty seats is beyond me.” She took another sip of her wine. The tiefling seemed almost bored and acted as if this person was of no importance. But something inside of her was telling her that this meeting was more than it seemed. Something about this man’s presence seemed vaguely familiar. And that fact did not sit well with her at all. The he spoke his name. Zodiac. She had known one by that name in the past. But the bearer of that name had not been a man, but a female demon. A demoness who had been quite close to her former master. Her instincts told her that the share name was no mere coincidence. If this indeed was the demoness she had known in the past...did she want revenge for the death of her ally? If this Zodiac made any sudden movements, Shalia would not hesitate to attack. But she showed no outward sign of her inner thoughts. “I have lived a long life and have known many people,” she said calmly. “I have known one who bears the name you speak, but she did not share your form. I know that I do not recognize your face, but it is obvious you seem to recognize mine. What have I done to catch your interest?” Edited by Shalia, Fri Feb 4, 2011 1:01 am.

It was a strange sight. Half of his face was feminine, feline and quite pale. The other was plain, human, male, and mostly unwilling to be with this demoness in him. The human side was oblivious to what he was doing here while the other was eying her quite a bit of vigor. It was as if she had a bit of anger and excitement in those golden eyes. He sat on the chair nearest to her and it was a bit of Zodiac's playfulness. "I just figure my human host would be comfortable if I were to get him together with a woman as a favor for using his body," the female side laughed, the male, irritated. "Forgive me, Zodiac doesn't have any manners," Chrono quipped and rolled his eyes. "Oh hush," she replied and tapped on the table. She then turned back to the woman and smiled, "I'm pretty sure my husband had known you. You know, that slave girl that was a bit of his favorite. Ummm...what was his name again? Oh yes, my late husband...Melonaht. You remember him, I assume?" Zodiac grinned and chuckled a bit before she quickly added, "don't get me wrong. I'm not mad at you. Maybe a little but thanks to his death, I managed to get some power...now...if only I wasn't stuck in this human body." |

This ‘Zodiac’ was odd indeed. The face seemed half man yet half woman. And the human side seemed somewhat annoyed, something Shalia could fully understand. Then it became more clear when Zodiac mentioned a host. So, the man was possessed by a female demon. Normally demons chose to possess someone of their own gender, but it was not unheard of for them to choose otherwise. Her eyes narrowed as Zodiac mentioned getting her ‘together’ with her host. “Unless you want me to publically castrate your host, I would advise you do not make such advances on me,” she said with a voice dripping in venom. At that moment the man seemed to have regained some power and spoke. Shalia merely shrugged at what he said. Zodiac was a demon, manners were not their strong suit. Nor was it one of hers. She watched this demon possessed man carefully. She still had a strong sense that this Zodiac might be the one she knew. Then the name of her former master was spoken. Melonaht. She had not spoken or heard that name since the day she had killed him. Shalia sprang to her feet, causing her chair to fall over. She place her hand on her sword, but did not draw it just yet. Red scales began to appear on her face and arms, signs of her draconic blood and her readiness to fight. If Zodiac made any type of advance it was clear that Shalia was ready to attack. “Why should I believe you?” she asked. “Or did that vile beast do something to warrant your hate instead of your fawning? What happened? Did you not please him in the bedchamber enough one night? Did he rip apart your body but left your soul intact? Is that why you now inhabit the body of a frail human and walk in the realm of mortals?” The tiefling’s eyes burned brightly. It was clear she spirit had only grown strong since she gained her freedom. Now that she had tasted freedom, she would never go back to being a slave. She would die before she let that happen. |

Zodiac was please when she had reacted the way she wanted her too. Of course, upon her reaction, Chrono's hand had gone to the hilt of his blade. No matter what trouble it was, he was not going to stand idly by and let himself be Zodiac's meat shield. Zodiac was still as calm as ever and only brushed off the woman's violent reaction. In fact, she laughed at her for so. "Dear, don't tell to me the things that he had probably done to you. I am in here by accident because this fool thought he could summon an arch demon and ended up getting banished and mixed up with me. Tell me, has my husband used you to relieve himself of pent-up pleasure to which I most often deprive him of." "Now, now, calm down," she taunted him with a sarcastic tone. "I was just up for a little reunion. And maybe to ask how you have been after all the time he had you enslaved." |

The man’s hand went to his sword. Was this a reaction from the host or the parasite? Then Zodiac began to laugh at her. Shalia’s eyes narrowed dangerously. She did not like being mocked. Especially by someone who had any connections to her past. Her lip curled up in a snarl as the demon mention her master again. Zodiac knew good and well how Melonaht had treated her. He had used her to fullfil his every whim. May it be as an assassin to remove an enemy or to relieve his boredom in the bedchambers. She had but one pleasant memory of the demon, and it was when she had removed his head form his shoulders. Her unvieled raged showed that Zodiac had touched upon a nerve. But even in her rage she could see that Zodiac did not intend to attack. That did not mean that Shalia trusted her intentions or believe that she just wanted to catch up on old times. Slowly the tiefling removed her hand from her blade. They were drawing too much attention and she did not want this to turn into a bar fight. If things escalated again, she would be sure to remove this threat quickly and leave this place. “The only good memory of have of your ‘dear husband’ was the pleasure of taking his life,” she said. “And I shall not hesitate to send you to meet him if you threaten my freedom. Do I make myself clear?” She then picked up the chair she had knocked over and placed is across from the demon possessed man. She did not want to be right next to Zodiac just incase something happened. The distance she gave between them would give her enough time to react to any aggressive move. She sat back down, but in a way that he sword was still seen and could easily be drawn in a moments notice. “Reunion?” she asked mockingly. “You’re a demon, you care little for such things. There is something you want from me. Speak.” |

Will she attack or not? Zodiac was also getting ready to take action if things were to start heating up. She can see clearly that their little 'reunion' was annoying this woman. Zodiac merely laughed when she said that the only memorable thing she had done was slay his husband. "Oh, I'm not here to threaten your freedom," she said with a smile. "I'm trying to hook you up with this friend of mine, remember?" A joke again, nonetheless. Her motives were not as simple as such and she was not quite the person who would do things for others, especially a human. "You're quite the smart one, aren't you?" She replied in a bit of a sarcastic tone. It should have been obvious that she was here for something, and it wasn't for the offer of friendship or a matchmaking session. "I know of your powers. And I might need it to free myself from this nuisance that I am bound to," Zodiac replied to which was responded with eye rolling from Chrono. It seemed the feeling was mutual. "Of course, I'm going to give you a reward for helping me. I'm giving you..." "...Chrono." "Wait...what?" |

Shalia continued to glare at Zodiac as she once again joked about hooking her up with this human. It was obvious that she did not find such things amusing. But then again, Shalia did not find anything amusing. Her time as a slave had indeed scarred her in a way that at this time she did not view as a problem. She did not know what happiness was, or the joy of laughter, or what love was. All she understood was rage and anger. Little did she know that the child, Rimmon, was slowly wearing away on her hard exterior. A smirk crossed her face as the real reason for this meeting was finally spoken. Of course she was not surprised. No demon she had ever met enjoyed being trapped in the weak body of a human. Zodiac was no exception. “Do you really know of my powers?” she asked. “They are quite different now after I killed Melonaht. As much as I hated him, the bond between he and I did grant me many powers. Upon his death, those abilities were lost to me. I am now awakening my own powers, not borrowed abilities from a master I never wanted.” She raised a brow as she said she would reward her. She was giving her Chrono? Who or what was Chrono? She then realized, she had not yet been told the name of the human host. Was this man named Chrono? “I can only assume you speak of this human who is your prison,” she said. “You should know that I disapprove of slavery. I shall take none myself, and kill any who keep them.” Though in a way this man already was a slave. It was clear Zodiac could control his body anytime she wished. In this situation killing Zodiac would not free Chrono due to their shared body. Plus, Zodiac clearly did not intend for this to happen. Shalia let out a long sigh. “I shall see what I can do to free you,” she said. “I am no master of the arcane, but I know someone who might have a few connections to archmages who can help. Though once I get you out of that man, I never want to see you again no matter what form you take.” |

Her powers? Oh, they would have indeed changed. Melonaht could have given her some abilities during the time that he had bound her as a slave. Of course, many of them were for his own pleasure. Zodiac was not surprised, she had toys of her own. "I figured that and I know you are quite capable of aiding me if you were able to kill Melonaht," she said and laughed. "Of course, it would have been easier if you had killed him after he was done ravaging your body for pleasure. That tends to be his most vulnerable state. He was always high with lust that it only needed some time before he got a slave that would do him in." Chrono was against being given as some form of trade. But Zodiac was merely messing around, it was enjoyable to mess around with everyone's heads one in a while. "I can give you a devil's deal to never cross your path again. But as for Chrono, I just want to be out of his wretched body. The offer still stands. Not like he has a choice over the matter." Chrono knew well what Zodiac can do right here and now. That incident in Taras was quite memorable and painful. "Do we have a deal then, dearest? I only need your strength in the ritual as a catalyst. We already have another powerful being. If you agree to this, only one more of great power and you'll be rid of me forever." |

Shalia scoffed when Zodiac said when it would have been easier to kill the demon. “You think he was that big of a fool?” she asked. “To bed someone whom he knew wanted to kill him without proper protection? The ring around my neck was not for decoration, it forced me to obey him and kept me from being able to attack him. Only when the slave’s collar was removed during a battle was I able to attack and slay him.” It was true, had she never run into that elf Aiden, she would likely still be a slave. She did owe that man her life in a sense. It did annoy her slightly, she did not like feeling indebted to anyone. “As said, I do not want a slave. Nor does he seem that pleased with your trying to sell him off,” she said. “But I am sure I can think of a way for you to repay me that will be more palatable for all involved.” Shalia raised a brow as Zodiac mentioned needing her as a catalyst. She was not sure she liked the sound of that. Many demon rituals did need someone or something to help activate it…but often times that being did not survive the ritual. She had no intention of be a sacrifice for this demon’s freedom. “Before I agree to anything, I would like to know what will be involved in the ritual. I am not keen on giving my life for your freedom if that is what is required. If so find yourself a different lamb for the offering,” she said. “I would advise you give me all the details if you wish me to agree to anything. And don’t ever call me ‘dearest’ again. you know my name, I advise you use it.” |

"Of course you don't," she smiled and laughed a bit. It was as if she was in disbelief. "Are you sure, though? You know you want to get a feel of what it would be like to have a servant. So you'd get to have a bit of a feel of what it's like. Besides, he looks quite good if you look at him for a bit." Chrono did not speak but he showed that he was annoyed. He knows of what Zodiac was capable of so he just agreed. Besides, all she was doing was antagonize him. At least she was doing the work to get them separated. "Fine, I'll tell you," she smirked and shook her head. "You, and two more powerful beings are going to form in a triangular way so that the magic would pass from you and be purified until we are reached. Then, we have to do our best to separate from each other. That is the real pain, the tearing of souls. But we are originally separate so you won't be harmed." "Are you satisfied? Don't you wish this young man could...satisfy you?" |

“I am quite sure,” she said. “One who has never been a servant cannot comprehend what it is like to be under someone’s boot heel. I have no desire to become like what my Master was. All it does is create enemies that will one day kill you when your back is turned.” Her face was stern as she listened to what Zodiac had to say next. She did not fully believe all that she said of course. But she did have a feeling that her own life would be in no danger in helping in this ritual. And all that was needed was one more powerful being if she agreed? If that was the case she wanted that ‘being’ to be someone whom she could rely on if a fight broke out. “Fine I will help,” she said. “And you happen be in luck. I know another powerful being that could be your third catalyst. A half-dragon. He is a complete fool, but he is very strong. I am sure I can talk him into aiding in the ritual.” This would be one instance when she would *want* Kaess to be around. True she did not have much respect for his personality and life style, but she did respect his power. And having that power backing her up when dealing with a demon would come in handy. Her eyes narrowed with Zodiac once again trying to pawn her host off on her. The demon was likely doing it to annoy her. “I have no interest in that from of ‘satisfaction’ you are trying to force upon me,” she said. “Now unless you have anything else important to say, I would ask that you leave me in peace. Or else you might find that the freedom I give you come in the form a sword in the gut.” |

"My, my, my. Still bitter for what he did to you, aren't you?" She laughed a bit and teased her again. She was glad to have found those for the ritual though. At least her freedom was getting nearer and nearer. Though, she would certainly miss toying with Chrono and the people he would end up meeting. It was quite an amusing thing that turned her 'stay' somewhat tolerable. "You just say that because you haven't tried things yet," she pressed on, aware that she was serious about her threat. However, it wasn't her body anyway. The hell would she care. If the body would be destroyed by another than her or Chrono, it would still work as a ritual. Only, Chrono would be dead and she'd be free. "I think I'll take a peek at what's in his memories and see what he's capable off," she smirked and turned silent. She was getting dormant and it was obvious now that the body and mind was starting to become Chrono again. "Wait...what?" Chrono gasped as he felt the aura of Zodiac prodding inside his memories. Private memories. "What the hell? Get out of my head, Zodiac!" He pressed his hands to his head and smacked his head on the table accidentally. Sharing a body was already too much, does she have to pry in his head too?" |
