Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

I teleport into this foreign world, knowing the knowledge of only what was taught to me. Death. Instantly I sense someones end coming closer. I turn to a cabin deep in the forest. I sense a dying, but living being inside. I begin gliding across the ground until I am at the door.
"Are you here for me?" says an old man in utter fear.
"Yes." I began to turn the door knob. The old man locked the door. "Make this easier on yourself. This will only make it more painful...for you."
"Your not going to kill me"
"We will see." I pulled my fist back and swung. The door shattered, the wood began to rot and deteriorate. I scanned the room. The old man layed paralyzed in a corner. "YOUR TIME IS NOW!" the old man got up, as if to fight.
"I'm not going down without a fight." he put his fists up to defend his face.
I raised my right fist and punched. I landed a punch directly to his chest. I continued to punch that exact spot until his rib cage collapsed. I used my boney fingers to tear through is thin skin and shattered bones. He shrieked in pain. "You will kno pain." I continued to dig.
I finally tore entirely through his skin and bones. I felt something pulsating. I grabbed for his heart. I tore his heart out slowly and began to drink the blood and pour it into my eye sockets. "I REAP YOUR SOUL. YOUR FEAR GIVES ME STRENGTH." I said in a demonic voice. I continued on eating his intestines, liver, and lungs.
I finished up eating the old mans body. I heard the door knob begin to turn.
It was his wife. "OH MY GOD!" she said screaming.
"Looks like I'm going to have some food to-go"...

Dante his first time through the hills, and unfortunately his target was just this old man. He decided that this was probably going to be the most boring mission he had done so far but for now money is money. He must do this and this trip must be done I suppose.

Dante began the accent up the hill's trail and began to take out his knife. As he began to get closer to the home of the man and not trying to be caught though its in daylight. When he got close to the home he heard screaming of women. He knew it would be trouble and it would not be easy. Then when he got close enough he saw a long shadowy figure but Dante knew this would be odd.

Once i began to reap the old womans soul I heard footsteps coming from afar. The footsteps were near silent but faint enough for me to hear them. I readied for battle.

I searched franicly for my spear, the only weapon I was allowed in this insane world. I found it beneath what was left of the old man and began to hide myself in the shadows. I heard the door knob begin to turn and readied myself for what was to come...

Dante had known that he never had to enter the home but he felt if he didn't he would never known what to happen and his target could still be alive. He began to turn the knob and then as he did that he heard the clank of metal and instantly shut the door and snuck away from the home and went around very carefully to where almost none but animals could hear.

Alighieri knew instantly that he was not suppose to kill the man. But proper precausion must be taken.
"I am not here for you. I was here for the old man. I am under the impression that you are an assassin. Is there something you need to prove his death to your guild? I will be more than happy to provide." Alighieri said projecting his voice because he could not hear the footsteps anymore.
Alighieri sheathed his spear. He waited for a response.

Dante, being paranoid as he is, began to approach the house and yelled "Sir if you are willing to withhold fighitng walk outside and stand in the middle of the yard. Then I will come and meet you unarmed and will not fight. Though you betray the agreement set forth and I will be forced to use brutal force." Dante said with conviction and intended to keep the agreement.

Alighieri threw his spear to the ground. He walked up to the door and began to turn the door knob. Alighieri could never lie to people "Sir I am going open the door now." He openned the door.
He came out of the house with his arms extended, hoping that this man will keep this agreement. "What can we do about this? This predictament we are in?" He put his hood farther over his face so the stranger could not see his face and his weakness to sunlight.
"We should talk this over. I am new to this world maybe you can show me some interesting things. We can be friends. And when you are friends with Death you never die..."

Dante knew this man was a heretic, how could be he Death. This man was a simple heretic of the heretic with an interesting choice of cloak but Dante knew there was no point of trying to fight him. So Dante walked into the clearing infront of the home of his target and began to throw his fighting knives into the ground about 10 feet from the man. Then releasing the long stilleto from his leg he pushed it lightly into the ground. Finally he put on the necklace he recovered as payment from a merchant. Dante hoped this item the merchant called Armistice would work.

"Sir if I believe I heard correct did I, Dante, hear you call yourself Death?" Dante said this eyeballing into the shadow of where his face is but it was hard to see through the mans cloak.

"Yes sir. You did hear correctly. I am THE death bringer, but you can call me Alighieri." Alighieri put his hand by his sides. He scanned Dante to make sure he was not trying to make his move while Alighieri had his guard lowered. "Is there something you need here? I won't bring harm to you. You would probably beat me. See, i am new to this world. I don't have the powers I had in the other world. Maybe we can form an alliance." Alighieri was serious about this agreement he had just proposed. He grinned grimly hoping that this "Dante" character was the friendly type. Alighieri extended his hand to shake Dante's. Alighieri thought "Please accept my peace offering. This may be the only chance I have of survival in this world"...

Dante couldn't believe his ears. Death, the Harvester of Sorrow, The Grim Reaper was standing infront of him trying to make a peace offering. Dante thought this was either a trap or a well an innocent plea but he couldn't help himself, he had to accept but as he had with another associative of his, he must test the man, though Death may have infinite knowledge.

"I for now shall accept your plea. My job here was to kill the man you had eaten before my arrival. You see I am a traveling assassin, I work hard and keep my record pristine. For now though we will not worry. I must ask what has brought you to this world? Was it the nonsense they call fate or destiny? Or did you do it of your own choosing?" Dante said these things with a kind of sly tone. This was to ensure that the man before him known as Alighieri was not going to betray him when convenient. As Dante finished his questions he walked toward the man's spear and inspected it. Then rushed back to him as a friendly gesture and returned the spear.

"I am not here by my choosing. I believe it's a test of my skill. Do you know why you are her. I don't know of this thing you call destiny. My sense of death tell me who must die and at what time. If there is a thing called destiny it has obiviously brought us together. I trust you...friend"

Alighieri accepted Dante's peace offering. Hoping this was a start to a partnership. "If you wish to see my face we must go somewhere darker. See light is one of my few weaknesses. So can you show me somewhere darker or we can wait of night. Its your call."

Dante understood the man's precaution now. He would wait for nightfall but for now Dante would loot the home of his target. "Well if it is not comfortable outside then let us walk inside." Dante said as he walked back to his tools of the assassin, his fighting knives and stiletto. As he approached back he was unsure of the Alighieri movements so he just walked right inside not yet looking for valuables.

"Let us go inside the dead mans house." Alighieri gestered Dante toward the old man's house. "You need to keep your wits about you these people may just know about this. The screams were loud. Just be prepared for what's to come." Alighieri got inside and sat down on the man's bed. He scanned the house. There was blood covering the walls and floor. And bits of bone peppering the floor and ceiling. Alighieri waited in anticipation for Dante's arrival into the house.

When Dante walked into the first room of the home he hadn't noticed anything horrifying he noticed the kitchen had food cooking on a stove. After peering through the kitchen stocked with a little bit food. Then as he turned toward a door that was now swung open he heard the other man in the home, Alighieri, sit down. He walked toward the door seeing red liquid flow through the floor boards.

Refusing to step in the room Dante sat down at the table in the kitchen. "Alighieri may we sit in here rather then that....splattered room?" Dante said this and then waited for a reply. He would refuse to go into the other room. There could be evidence if that was the case.

"Yes, I can get out of here. I just feel more at home with the death....okay I'll go to the next room with you. We need to talk."

Alighieri walked into the next room and sat down. He fathomed a new idea. "Should we burn this house? Since your an assassin we should get rid of the the evidence of your existence. Do you agree?"

Alighieri hoped that Dante would agree.
