| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

"As you wish," Logan said simply as he readied Thrae for the charging werewolf. Though he wasn't at the top of his fighting as he was during his younger adventuring days, Logan was still formidable with his sword, and the werewolf was still favoring both of his injured limbs, ample weaknesses for the Ranger to exploit. But the girl he'd met struck first, sinking her blade into the wolf's bad leg and causing him to have to shift his attention to her and away from Logan. Logan sprang forward, Thrae angled in front of him to thrust into the wolf's chest. However, something within the Ranger told him to not strike this werewolf down in anger or aggression. Curious and always following his gut, Logan instead elected to raise Thrae's blade enough to bring it to the werewolf's exposed throat and hold it there, not going for the kill. "Yield, werewolf," Logan snarled, "or trust me I shall slice your throat if you move another inch!" |

The werewolf froze. He had not expected the situation to deteriorate to this point. At least not his quickly. "Look, I just need to take her back to her friends. She doesn't believe they are her friends for some unknown reason. They think she lost her freaking mind! She attacked them, she could harm herself or someone else. They just want to take her to the Academy of Magic to help her." "You're lying!" AD said defensively, feeling like she was trying to be trapped again. "They tried to capture me without even trying to talk to me, and because I got away they are still trying to! Leave me alone!" The werewolf turned he head just slightly, trying to see AD out the corner of his eye. "That was when they saw you after you attacked them. They were afraid you would attack them again. They hired me because they thought you might not attack me like you did them. You almost killed your best friend!" AD fell silent. That didn't sound right. She wouldn't have hurt her friends. Besides, she could go to the Academy on her own. She didn't need someone doing it for her... The werewolf was not lying, but he had been lied to. The fact that the group was not named might hint at that. AD, however, never really had been good at reading people. She was not normally around them enough to tell if they were lying ot telling the truth or if they had alliterative motives. |

Logan held his blade to the wolf's throat the entire time he and the girl talked, there in the snow. The ranger's blade was unwavering, as he was quite disciplined at the task. When the wolf finished, he observed the girl's face and it seemed as if she believed the werewolf's story, but that he'd been deceived. Logan's brow furrowed for a time before he finally moved Thrae away from the wolf's neck and cleaned the blade. Resting the blade on the ground, Logan leaned on it in order to help with the pain in his arms from holding it. "I grant you this small mercy, werewolf," Logan said softly, but maintained his firm tone to convey his subtle threat, "squander it and I shall end you without a second thought!" Logan then turned to the girl, "It's your call: Shall we let him go?" |

As the mas relaxed the wolf did too, and drew AD's dagger from his leg. The blade looked small in his huge hand. He let it slide from his fingers and it landed in the snow. Blood was actively flowing down the werewolf's leg at this point. Where it touched the snow it looked pink. Where it matted down his fur it looked black. She didn't say anything for a moment and then her voice was unsure. "He can live if he tells me who sent him after me and what they offered him in return." The wolf looked at her for a moment. "Actually, they didn't tell me their name..." The wolf crouched down and rested his elbows on his knees. He looked thoughtful for a moment. "They offered me money. A lot. But I don't know if this is worth it..." The werewolf looked from AD to Logan and sighed, packing snow on his leg. AD wouldn't notice, but Logan might, that the werewolf was starting to have second thoughts. Perhaps he had some questions of his own for those who hired him. "I will either follow you or travel with you openly if you will not come with me. If I loose track of you I will have more trouble then I am willing to deal with." AD frowned. She clearly didn't want anything to do with the werewolf or whom ever sent him. She just didn't seem sure what to do about it. |

Logan was now confused as to what would happen next. The werewolf was now saying he would travel with the girl after charging at her and attempting to capture her? What was he thinking!? "Do you think I'm a fool?!", Logan snarled at the werewolf, pointing Thrae at the beast, "You think that you'll just be able to go with this girl and follow her even though you'd already attacked her? You're damned lucky I don't gut you like a fish, right now! But I have a question for you: Did your employers tell you what this girl's name is? She seemingly can't remember." |

The werewolf flinched when Logan spoke, pointing his blade at the were. A snarl appeared on his muzzle. "Look, I have little choice. If I return without her or they find me and I am not either actively following her or have her in my custody... well I don't really want to deal with that. I think I would rather you make up your mind and kill me already." The last three words came out as a snarl. He closed his eyes for a moment and when he spoke next his tone was being forcefully controlled. "They called her AD. I don't know any more then that. It sounds like a nickname to me though... " He opened his eyes and glanced over the the fire. "You are burning your meat." As he and Logan were speaking, AD made her way over to them. When the werewolf closed his eyes AD snatched up her blade and took a few steps back again to get out of the were's reach. The snow packed on his injured leg was turning red and looked like it was melting. She must have clipped or severed an artery. The werewolf dropped to all fours and shifted again, this time into a human male with pure white hair and pale skin. His eyes were dark though, so he was not an albino. He had on a pair of suede pants and no shirt. He tried to stand and staggered, catching himself with both arms before doing a face-plant. "Look, I can't even walk. You won, alright? Can I please have something to wrap my leg before I loose more blood?" The were seemed much less threatening in his human form. She hadn't seen the original shift and was standing there staring as if to try and find out where all his bulk and fur had gone too. He looked skinny in comparison now. |

AD's bewildered look at the werewolf's transformation didn't surprise Logan, as he'd suspected for awhile that she was definitely not wise to the ways of the world. Of course, if what he'd heard was true, then it was because she was forced out of all of her knowledge, which would explain her rather childlike behavior. Moving quickly, Logan placed his hands on the werewolf's injured leg and pulsed a small amount of healing energy into it. Not enough to completely heal him, but enough to staunch the bleeding and keep him from going into shock. "Do you think I should just kill him, AD", Logan asked, bringing his blade to the man's throat, "Or will you accept him to travel with you?" |

AD took a step back. "I don't want him following me. I don't like him." She glared at the werewolf. A frown crossed her features. She was trying to think. She didn't want to deal with killing the creature. She didn't know who was really after her and he was just a hired hand... "I think... I think we should just tie him up. We can find somewhere to put him that he won't die and if I find him following me still he can die then." She made up her mind with that. She was not going to deal with people who were going to make rules for her to follow when she had no reason to follow them. Part of her still seemed unsure, but she seemed to be willing to stick with her decision. If the werewolf was telling the truth, she probably shouldn't be killing them. That would only make her more of a target and draw more attention to where she was. She decided she would go to the Academy of Magic on her own still. The last place they would be looking for her was where they wanted to make her go after all. |

"If that is your decision, AD," Logan replied, removing Thrae's blade from the man's neck and sheathing it, "then I won't object. I'll bind him and put him somewhere where he won't be able to follow you, at least for a time." Logan went back to the cabin and grabbed himself a bit of rope from his traveling back. Coming back outside, Logan quickly bound the werewolf's hands behind his back and then grabbed one of his arms. "You're still welcome to stay the night in my shelter, AD," Logan said as he began to lead the werewolf away. "Feel free to help yourself to a bit of the meat I've been cooking and I'll be back soon." The ranger pulled the man by the arm as the two of them disappeared off into the darkness of the trees. Sometime after losing sight of the old cabin and his fire, Logan ordered the man to his knees and then bound his bare feet together at the ankle before threading a third rope from the man's bound wrists and tying it around a tree. "Don't even try to escape until the morning, you hear me? If I catch you trying to sneak up on me and AD again tonight, you won't get a second chance, werewolf!" Logan then left the man and made his way back to the cabin. As he came within sight, he checked to see if AD had taken his offer to stay for the evening. |

AD nodded, feeling a bit empowered now that she had decided on something and didn't actually have to figure out how to do it herself. She didn't know if she could tie a knot well enough for someone not to escape. After Logan and the werewolf vanished in the woods, she stood there in silence for a moment. She felt... odd. Part of her had really, really, wanted to just kill the werewolf. Part of her had felt... excited about the fight? No, it hadn't been excitement. It was something she couldn't name. She sighed then, realizing she shouldn't really stay put for very long, not in the middle of the road like this. Perhaps she should just go. She went over to get her cloak again and frowned. It was probably soaked again. She reached sown with her right hand to grab it, her left still holding her dagger. It was then that she felt a stinging on her shoulder. Surprised she looked and saw the marks of the werewolf's claws. She wondered when that had happened. It didn't seem deep and there was not a lot of blood. It was hard to see though, being on the back of her right shoulder. She picked up her cloak then, feeling that it was in fact heavy with snow again. Perhaps... perhaps she would accept the offer. Just for a little while. If nothing else she needed to apologies for being rude. She went inside and lay out her cloak again to let it dry. She walked around the fire, her gaze wandering to his things. No, she should leave his things alone. He was being nice. AD turned her attention to the meat. She never cooked anything herself. She didn't know how. She didn't even know how to start a fire. She sighed and sat down with her back to the fire, ignoring the meat too. She wasn't sure what to do with it. Instead she tried to get a better look at the claw marks on her shoulder in the fire light. She pulled the sleeve down, getting where the fabric tore out of the way. It looked like maybe one claw just nicked her. Two others looked just deep enough they could be a problem. She tried to remember if she knew what to do about them. It looked like they had started to scab over and she tore the two larger ones open again when she went to get her cloak. |

Logan returned not long after AD had sat down to examine her wounds. The ranger sidled down next to her as she examined them by the firelight, giving his own once-over to them: The shallow one wouldn't be much of a problem, but he was surprised the deeper slashes weren't bleeding heavily, especially after she'd broken the scabs. "Curious," Logan muttered as he placed his left hand on her wounded shoulder, starting a steady pulse of energy into the wounds in order to keep himself from exerting too much magical reserve on the healing. "You ought to have blood pouring down your arm right now, AD." Some minute or so later, the healing was finished. The ranger removed his hand afterward, and where her wounds once were stood two long scars on her shoulder. |

Aether Draka almost pulled away when he touched her shoulder, his hand surprisingly warm. It was due to the cold, and her not noticing how cold it really was. It wasn't quite cold enough to do her harm, so the chill was ignored. She basically became immobile as the healing magic coursed through her. It felt... it felt warm, almost painfully so. But it was what images came with it that immobilized her for a moment. Images in her mind flashed past, almost too fast to recognize. A large building, a cathedral. It seemed warm, welcoming. But then... something was happening. She saw herself, much younger. She was only a child. She was in bed, ill. Then she saw others, people she didn't know, coming in. They took the blanket, her clothing, and dragged her from the room. She was placed in a bath. The water was so cold it hurt, but it felt warm too... There was a flicker of energy, something dark and demonic as Logan lifted his hand from her shoulder and the scars seemed to darken and AD gave a sharp intake of breath. It was just as quickly followed by another flicker, something light and celestial and the scars lightened and were gone. Started, and not quite knowing what had happened, AD scrambled to her feat. She felt disorientated and almost ill. She staggered away from Logan and the fire, almost falling, and caught herself on the same railing she had jumped over at when they first meet. She held on to it for a moment as the dizziness passed. She didn't know that that had been the first unholy or holy magic she had felt since waking without her memories. It had triggered something, trying to call on her absent powers. They were locked away too well though, and failed to return. "What... what was that?" She asked softly, carefully. AD was not quite sure what to make of what just happened and very glad the werewolf was not here to see what she viewed as a weakness. |
