| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

It felt really awesome to be by herself. It felt even more awesome to know that there weren’t any wolves nearby that thought she deserved to be beaten up just because she was the runt of the pack. It wasn’t her fault she got frightened so easily. That was just how she was. She walked on her own in the mist, looking around at her surroundings. This place was really different from her pack’s den in the Norwood Forest, but she didn’t mind that at all. Her goal was to get as far away from Norwood Forest as she could to ensure that she wouldn’t see her pack members again. They did nothing but treat her badly, so she would make sure she never returned there. Cleo was currently in her human form, her short white hair spiked from lack of care it received recently. She wore a single ring on her right pinky finger that she had found a while back when she was just a child. When she originally found it, the ring only fit on her index finger, so she was glad it still fit her at all. She also had a necklace on that she found more recently. It only had a crescent moon as the charm, and the rest of it was just thick black string, tied behind her neck so it always stayed around her neck. Her shirt was off-white, and her pants were basically just red sweatpants that didn’t fit to her form at all. They were baggy, but at least her shirt looked okay. Her attire was meant to show everyone that she was the runt, but she was trying to find things that wouldn’t make her look like that. It didn’t help that her form was smaller than most others of her race and age. She only wished that a werewolf would come along and bite her. Then she’d have a bigger wolf form, at least. It didn’t even bother her that she would then be affected by the full moon. As she treaded forward, she couldn’t help but notice some noise that her ears caught. It sounded like somebody walking, so she just kept walking, not really caring. |

He could not see at all, his eyes were squinted trying to see through all the blasted mist. The whiteish gray veil covered most of this side of the hill, creating a blanket like scene stretched out before him. Chaos had only been here once before, and hated it to be honest. He knew that this side was mostly the worst side, full of blinding mist and tricky hills. But he also knew that once up the hill he could see far enough to get to where he needed to go. But still, it was a pain in the butt to have to venture here, clanking around with out being able to see a damn thing, he could run right into someone and now know it. But why was he here? A big red brute, with blood filled eyes, breath worse than the smell of decaying flesh and a body the size of a bear. He had on his demonic set of armor, dressed to fit his bulky frame, and his dragon helmet fashioned to protect why still striking fear into all that laid their unfortunate eyes upone him. He was a real beast, making so much noise in the forboding mist. Anyone out here stealthy would pick up on him right away, but that did not bother him, for anyone stupid enough to attack him was dead. He was only here to collect payment on a job recently done. He had slain the family, taken care of the locals and got out with little hassle, another job done for his gods. Now he just had to find the damn shack and collect his pay. The walk was unbearble, he was getting tired and extremly bored. Chaos was ready to just get his payment and go, do something fun like eat someone or slay a pack of wild animals. This began to get his mind going, what exactly would he do after he left these hills? His thoughts began to swirl so much that he frogot what he was doing. not paying attention he walked right out in front of a woman. Her white hair and messy cloths was what eh first noticed. With a grumble he shouted, a flock of birds in the distant fluttering away. Damn it girl! watch where you are going! you almost hit me! His bog deep voice was sure to intimidate the small woman. she looked no older than a teenager. To her he would be the most ugly, repulsive thing ever to lay eyes on. |

His voice made her tremble. It was so loud, she covered her ears right away, only uncovering them once he stopped talking. Her hands didn’t do much to protect her ears from his booming voice, but at least he didn’t rant about her ‘almost’ hitting him. “It’s not my fault that you have such bad breath!” she blurted out, not really caring about his appearance. She knew that she didn’t look any better in her werewolf form. Sometimes she forgot that she was actually in her human form. “Maybe you should watch where you’re going! I don’t have a lantern or anything, so just leave me alone!” she shouted, though her voice did not sound anywhere near as loud as his was. Her voice was like a mouse’s compared to his. She never thought about what people might do after she blurted something out at them, nor did she care. Her fuse was too short to allow any sort of thinking process. Her voice did not have any strength to it, but it was definitely deeper than a teenage girl’s voice would be. She at least sounded like she was a young adult, despite what her appearance may be. “Maybe you should wear one of those helmets that light up, then people would be able to see you!” she said, mindlessly continuing to blurt things out. She wasn’t entirely sure what she was trying to do by fighting back, but she hoped she would at least get one thing across: she would not put up with him blaming her for something she never did. |

Chaos was not normaly a good nice person, most of the time he had a bad anger problem that was always partnered with a nasty attitude. So to talk back and be rude to such a person was not very smart to begin with. Not to mention the fact that he was lost, in a extremly bad mood and tired of walking and getting lost. So he was close to his breaking point, ready to snap at any moment. The females constant remarks were non the friendly, and the red demon sensed hostility almost instantly. For her sake eh hoped she soon learned her lesson. Ignoring most of her remarks chaos tried to keep his calm, he wasnt in the mood to completly let loose and smash this girl to bits. You act like i did something wrong, all i was doing was walking minding my own when you decided to walk into me. After all i am much bigger than you. You dotn expect mountains to just hop out of your way do you, no of course not. You are smaller so you must go around me. It was perfect logic to him, although his mind was never really altogether to start off with. He would try to convince this girl to apologize, then consider killing her or allowing her to continue on her way. But if she continued to refuse and mock him like a foolish woman, he would have to cut her smaller than she already was. No one got away with insulting a god, and he would make sure of that this day. |

She was fourteen inches shorter than he was, but that certainly did not stop her from continuing to talk back at him. “Oh, so now I did walk into you, when a second ago I almost walked into you?” she asked rhetorically, a bit confused but didn’t care about his answer. The one thing she did want to know though, was “Why would I ever think that mountains would move for me? Mountains are not something that would move in the first place. You’re a living thing, so yeah, I DO expect you to move!” She now stood on her toes to appear about four inches taller. She knew she would be as tall as him on her toes if she was in her werewolf form, but she wasn’t so sure about showing her other form to this... person... She had to prove a point though. Just because he was bigger, it did not mean she had to move around him. In her eyes, he should be the one moving for her, because he was supposed to be a gentleman. So, with much contemplation, she shapeshifted into her werewolf form. Now she stood the same height as him. Now she felt a little better than before. At least now she was able to look at him properly. She was able to see a lot better in the darkness in this form as well. “Who do you think you are? Keep your story straight, stranger!” she barked at him, kind of nudging a fist on his chest, as opposed to poking him in the chest. “I’ve got all rights to walk where ever I want, so just get over it and keep walking.” She growled at him, refusing to apologize. She didn’t see anything wrong with what she was doing, or what she had done prior to this conversation. |

He was pissed, an dno longer willing to just stand there and take all the insults. this woman was not all that smart as it seemed to chaos, after all he was nto only bigger but so much stronger. She kept calling him out saying he was mixing his story up, and that it should have been him to get out of the way. Of course in chaos's mind no of this was true. Tp him she had bumped into him, starteding yelling and getting angery at him for no reason. He was the victum here, not her. But as things were looking she was about to become the one in pain. But things got even worse. Instead fo just talking and accusing like she was before, the small girl decided to morph into a werewolf, a form chaos was very use to seeing. Was he a bit surprised that this small girl was a werewolf, yes, was he scared, not at all. she had placed her fist agaisnt the front of his armor, pushing him a little. This of course was no where at all the smart thing to do. He instantly went froma pretty ok mood to absolutly mad, with no chance of stopping him. Not even caring what the woman had to say, he took in a deep breath and did something that even this girl would not expect. With a burst of energy chaos sent his body at the girl, his sharp jagged armor aimed to cut her up in several spots. His think metal gloved fingers reached out fer her neck, attempting to wrap around them. However her being in werewolf form, this was going to be a bit harder. So as his left hand went to strangler her, he decided he needed a little time. His right amr shot up so fast, his closed fist aimed right at her snout, to knock some sense into her. He was not going to go down so easily, and this girl was going to learn her lesson. |

With the slightest of movement toward her, she immediately retreated, her ears going flat against her head. She kept her mouth shut for now, having no idea what she should say. She looked more scared than anything else, with her tail between her legs and the expression in her eyes. Fighting was definitely not her forte, but she seemed to be pretty good at getting people angry. It always seemed to be the ones that knew how to fight, though. All she knew was how to disarm someone should they decide to use a weapon against her. When his fist came at her, she stepped back further, hoping he’d stop trying to attack her. She was well aware of the fact that she was no match for him. Her only method of survival was speed and being able to dodge unarmed attacks quickly. It wasn’t like she had any weapon to effectively defend herself with in close combat. The only thing she had was a spear, and even then, she had no reason to ever use it. The spear would be broken easily if she tried defending herself with it against a sword or something of the sort. It was like what would be known as an unwanted scrap item, it was so weak. However, she still held onto it as if it would someday come in handy. “What are you doing?! You crazy?” she said a bit loudly, not understanding why he felt the need to attack her. Sure, she was annoying, but was it really necessary to throw fists at her? Reasons for fighting never came to her easily, seeing as she only fought to defend herself, nothing more. Nobody would ever find her fighting somebody for fun. She’d probably be seen breaking her spear up to make a fire from it before throwing it at something to cook it up for food. Her eyes were wide open, blinking only when needed. She had a feeling this might be the last fight she would ever had. Not like she wanted it to be, but only time would tell. |

She had successfully pissed him off, pushing him too far by touching him in an act of abuse. Even if her intentions were not to harm or attack him, his mind instantly went into attack mode, trying his hardest to get at her. But she was a quick thing, moving back in a dodge attempt. His large fist missed its mark, making him step back a moment to rethink his approach. He could see the fear in her eyes, almost like he was scaring her half to death. He loved this reaction and wanted to see more. He was not going to allow this girl to leave until he had enough. With a deep breath he activated two spells. The first sent up a ring of fire around the duo, instantly causing the mist to disperse. He could clearly see her now and there was no way she could escape the ring of fire. The flames licked up at the sky, turning it a deep orange color as he laughed. The second spell was cause fear, it had no out ward visable effects but it would begin to eat at her soul, showing her images of fear and fright. She would begin to get even more scared of this man than she already was. But where would she go. Chaos began to chuckle, crossing his arms in front of his chest like he already had won. He was going to show this woman that no one messed with him and got away with it. Are you scared little doggy? Do you want to run home to your mommy. He could not help himself, it was far to fun to just stop. He wanted to see her squirm and shake with fear, almost beg for mercy from him. This was what he lived for, what he loved in life. |

The confusion was immediately replaced with fear when he created a ring of fire around them. The reasoning didn’t matter anymore. Survival was the only thing on her mind now. She jumped away from the wall of fire as soon as it was created, but stopped herself from moving any further as she remembered that he was in the circle with her. Or was it that she was in the circle with him? Either way, she was doomed for sure. She positioned herself halfway between the firewall and the crazy angry man, watching him. With the brightness of the fire, she could see him perfectly. It was now that she was certain she wouldn’t make it through whatever he was wanting to do to her. She took a deep breath, as if readying herself for his next move, but only found that the fear inside her was swelling like a bad headache turning into a migraine. Her tail was between her legs, and her ears were down, showing the obvious signs of fear in a wolf. She could see now that she really should have just moved. This man was five times the size of her, or at least that’s what it felt like to her. Her breathing became shallower, and her muscles started to twitch and flinch whenever he did so much as speak. It felt like an eternity before he said something, and of course she jumped when he spoke, making a little gasp as she did so. She didn’t want to admit she was scared... despite how obvious it was now, she was still trying to fight it. She didn’t want to be scared anymore, but it felt as though her fear was tearing through her insides, making a mess. Running to her ‘mommy’ though... that was a little uncalled for. “No way in hell would I ever run to her!” she said, her voice shaking despite her efforts. “She didn’t give a beaver’s butt about me from when I was born, so she definitely wouldn’t now. Just let me go.” She didn’t get upset about being called little doggy, because so many others had done that as well. She simply saw it as just another nickname. |

His mood of anger and hate was replaced with a mood of joy and pleasure. Sure eh was still angery and mean, but he was having fun now. He had turned all that rage agaisnt this woman and now had her trapped in his game. He loved the look on her face, her ears flat and her tail hidden beneath her body. This was the fun part of being who he was, toying with those who could not stand up to you. She then started to go on about how she would not run to her mommy, how her mother never cared about her and such. Chaos did not care either, he didnt want to here this none sense. Shut your mouth you pathetic mutt. I dont care about your family nor do i care about your life. I warned you not to piss me off, i told you to just go around me but no, we had to be a big girl and stand up for ourselves didnt we. He allowed a demonish chuckle to escape his body as he paused, taking in the sight of the cowering woman. But you know what, im not in the mood to kill you today, lucky for you. I thought about eating you but i dont know, dosnt look like youd fill me up. So ill tell you what, ill let you live. Now this was not soemthing he normally did, but he was not in the mood to slaughter a poor defensless girl who was apparently not going to fight back. The flames around her and the fear eating at her soul were enough to back her down from the monesterous beast. He had his fun for today, but what was he going to do with the girl? |

“No!” she fought against his words when he told her to shut up. She breathed in to say more, but he kept talking about how he didn’t care and made it sound like it was a bad thing to stand up for herself. Considering her current situation, she very much agreed with him. Then he said he didn’t feel like killing or eating her ‘today’. She couldn’t help but wonder what he was going to do to her. She felt like she was being eaten in a way, though. The fear building up inside her was becoming too much to bear, as if she would explode if she tried suppressing a scream or tears from swelling in her eyes. The runt really didn’t feel like exploding today, and by the way that he laughed it really sounded like he was enjoying himself. Like, actually getting a kick out of watching her reactions. She was sitting on the ground now, kind of how a dog would sit when it was scared. Tail under her body, head lowered, eyes looking up in a pleading way with her ears flattened. Normally, this was a sight that would make others want to help her, but she knew it was different this time. She thought that if she gave him what he wanted, then he’d go away faster. However, if he took a step toward her, then she wouldn’t hesitate to shapeshift back into her human form and make a weak attempt to fight back. She always had random outbursts of anger if someone was torturing her, and it usually ended up making them get fed up and leave her alone. Cleo was not enjoying his little game at all. “Just get it over with or let me go.” She said, keeping her voice down and her head still lowered. It wasn’t like she wouldn’t fight back at all. He’d probably enjoy it if she tried fighting back. She waited for him to say or do something else, wondering how she was going to survive this... |

He was having way to much fun with this girl, but not enough to his likeing. She was cowering like a small child lost in the dark, begging for him to either finish it or let her go, neither of what he was about to do. He was amuzed for the time being, happy to see this girl scared and frightend, but he was about to mix things up. His mind spun, many ideas going through his head but only one of them sounding fun. It was a little move he had learned from Vernon, the Master of the Marsh. The fire circle stayed where it was, licking at the sky and causing all the mist in the hills to vanish. He wanted to instill a little more fear before he began, so he activaited the fear spell once again, to cause her to be even more afraid of him. As he watched her wiht joy he took two steps closer, pulling out both of his letifers now. No! you dont get the luxary of leaving. you have two choices, you can either die right here right now, in the most unhuman way i can think of, or you can work for me, and become my pet. He laughed after he called her a pet, almost as if he was sure she belonged to him already. After all who would choose death over life, and there was no way she could beat him in a fight. So what will it be? would you rather die when i can offer you safety and refuge under my watch. All i request is your loyalty and service to me as your master, and i will bu sure to take care of you. Even though Chaos was a lying cheating demon, he was being honest at this rare moment in his life. If she vowed to serve under him he would hold his honor and treat her with as much respect and care that he could give. And who wouldnt want a giant flaming demon as a body guard? |

Two choices. That seemed to be the best thing she had heard since he blamed her for walking into him. When he stepped toward her with his letifer blades, she shapeshifted into her human form (her clothing still intact) and stood up, backing away from him. At the moment that she felt the heat from the flame, she stopped backing up, looked behind her to see just how close she was to the fire, then looked back at the demon. Perhaps if she served him, she wouldn’t have to worry about anyone else beating her up or making fun of her. It would be a lot better to only be tortured by one individual. If she had to choose (and it seemed like he would choose for her if she didn’t speak up right now) then she would definitely go with becoming his pet. As much as she didn’t want to be considered a ‘pet’, she really wasn’t ready to die. She could feel the fear becoming more intense again as he said she couldn’t leave. She stood with her hands at her sides and her feet square with her shoulders. “I promise I'll be loyal!” she blurted out, hoping he wouldn’t swing those blades at her. It was good to hear that she would be taken care of. That would make him the first person to ever offer safety to her. “I would rather service you than die any day.” Her muscles were really tense, as she still couldn’t tell what he wanted to do to her. All she could hope for was that he was telling the truth. The last thing she wanted was to find out that everything he said was a complete lie. Her eyes were watching him intensely, not daring to look away. Her attention was mostly on his blades, so right now her body was pretty much frozen with fear. She wasn’t about to move until he put the blades away and agreed to not kill her... |

Chaos smirked, a crooked evil smile spreading across his twisted face. He was glad to hear this woman’s decision in working for him to keep her life. It was the smarter choice after all; keep her life in exchange for service to a god. He found it comical that he could instill so much fear into someone that they would bend to his will rather than fight, but he knew it was hard to resist when he was on the brink of slaughtering them. The demon admired this runt, after all she had been through most would jump at the chance to end their life, but she still had fight in her, even if it was not the right fight. He saw something in her now that made him feel good about his choice. As she stood there, positioned and posed he decided to ease her fear. Sheathing both of his letifer blades and calling off the ring of fire. As the flames died down the mist began to slowly creep back into the area, a cool gust of wind blowing across the hill. He had caused enough havoc tonight, and scared this woman to the brink of death, he felt it was time to calm down. The poor girl had been cowering the whole time, not even trying to put up a fight, but he did not mind that too much, in the process of having fun he had acquired a new pet. Good choice, im glad you have made the smart move to side with me on this.He let out a small chuckle and acted as if there was no choice at all. He was sure she would choose life over death, but apart of him was sad that he was not going to skin her and devour her body. That would have to come from someone else now for he had made a promise to take care of this girl, and that’s what he was going to do. Walking over to the girl he put on a smile, a fake comforting smile to try and ease the girls fear. Placing a hand on her shoulder he spoke, trying to sound smooth and gentle, but it failed. You’ll learn im not that bad of a guy. I can actually be real nice and fun to be around. Removing his hand he stepped back and inspected his prize.Ok, so lets start fresh shall we? I am Chaos, and you are?His deep gruff voice asked a question like a small child would, hoping that everything he had just done would be forgiven, he partially didn’t care if she feared him, after all he needed all to fear him, but he also wanted her to trust him to some extent. It would be sad if he had to kill her cause she tried to run, or worse, turn on him. |

She felt her muscles relax as soon as he sheathed his letifer blades and made the circle of fire disappear. Or as she saw it, the circle of death. Now that the circle was gone now, she had to stick by this creepy demon’s side. As least she knew what would happen if she ever tried to disobey him, or decide against his word or anything of the sort. Then she listened to him say that her decision was a ‘smart move’. Of course it was a smart move, that’s what he wanted her to do. It seemed like a large difference in personality once she agreed to serve him, so her best guess was that he enjoyed her company... or... something like that...? When he walked over to her, she didn’t feel as frightened as she would have before. Now she knew that he wasn’t going to kill her. Whether his decision about killing her was postponed or if it was just made to be against killing her altogether, she had no idea, however she was happy enough with the fact that she was still alive. She didn’t even notice his attempt to sound smooth and gentle when his hand was placed onto her shoulder. She couldn’t imagine that this demon knew how to be fun company. He only seemed to be really good at scaring her. “I’m Cleo.” She introduced herself, and immediately got curious about what kind of services she would be required to do. So, she spoke up. “What do you want me for, anyway? What could I possibly offer that you haven’t found anyone else for?” she asked, hoping he wouldn’t get angry at her curiosity, but she wasn’t about to be surprised if he did get angry about it. After all, he was the boss now. |
