Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Hollis smiled as thought about how comfertable she was. Some part of her -though it was very small part of her- knew that this was wrong. It knew that she should pull away from Keass, tell him that she wasn't interested, and they should just pretend that the past hour-something didn't happen.

But, she just couldn't find it in her to do that. Hollis felt to happy, to comfertable to much of anything but sit there and play with Keass' hand. Hollis banshed that side of her thoughts back to the depths of her brain as she thought about if she was really tired or not...

That was when a yawn started to form in her mouth. She opened her eyes wide, surpirsed to find that she did feel a little tired. As she stifled the yawn, she told Keass the truth. "Not really... At least, I don't feel tired. Whether I am or not, I can't tell. What about you? That was when she released something. If he is, what if it is me that is making him stay up? I don't want him to be tired later on because she had made him stay up! As soon as this thought had crossed her mind, she felt wide awake.

Hollis turned her face to look at Keass, almost all blush gone from her face. She was still a little rosey, but the thought it would be her fault if Keass stayed up to late woke her up, and made a large amont of the blood rush away from her face. She thought, for only a moment, that this could worry Keass, but she was more concered about making sure that she didn't make him stay up to long.

As she looked, Hollis saw only the blush in his face, and the little cirlces that had been there before. It was no more than had been there before -at least that Hollis could see.

After she had taken a few moments to look over Keass' face, she settled back into the curve of his body. Again, the thought this was wrong flow through her mind. And, just like before, she pushed it away. She didn't want to think about how wrong it would be, just yet...

Next thing Hollis knew, she was fast asleep, snuggled deep into Keass' arms. For a moment, she had no idea what she was seeing. Her dream was of her and Keass, watching the fire crackle in the little that they where in, in real life. But, as she went closer, Hollis saw that she was asleep. That was when she felt the magic in Keass blood start to come off in waves. She knew that she felt, only because she was sleeping right next to him. As she watched, Hollis saw Keass start to get up. She thought for moment that he was going to get up and wake her. But, the longer she looked, she saw that he was lifting her up in his arms. As she watched, he took her a bed over in the corner. It was only a little farther away from the warm fire than they had been. "Sleep well, my one and only love. You have my heart now." He had said after he had put Hollis in the bed. Then, he kissed her lightly on the forehead. Hollis thought that she saw a large effert on his face to not kiss her more, and on the lips. She couldn't be sure though.

Then, he went over to a little dresser, and pulled out a few blankets. He throw the cloak lightly over Hollis so that she wouldn't get cold. Then he made a bed for himself. When Keass was done with that, he got back up, through a glance at Hollis to make sure that she was still asleep, and warm, than went and put out the fire. The temptature didn't drop right away, but the longer the ghost Hollis was there, the colder she felt. She watched, as Keass got into his bed-of-blankets, and went to sleep.

Then, everything went dark, and Hollis knew that she was in a deep sleep. She snuggled closer to Keass, only to find that either he wasn't there, or she was to far in her sleep that she couldn't feel him...

Kaess couldn’t quite believe it as his thoughts were slowly coming true. Hollis yawned, but she didn’t want to leave this….. well whatever this closeness was, she didn’t want to break it. However, she was tired and soon was asleep against his chest. His thoughts moved rapidly trying to make sense of this, ‘What do I do, I should do something, but if I move I might wake her and that would be bad… why is that bad???? I don’t want to move either, but I should …. Oh jeez come on think think…..’

Debating with himself he just sat there enjoying the feeling of being this close, but after about thrity minutes he decided that he had to at least get her to bed. It just wasn’t good for someone to sleep like this was it?

With a decision made, he carefully gathered her up in his arms, much like he had in her dream and carefully laid her down on the simple bed. Trying exceedingly hard not to make his movements too fast and wake her up. He then laid his cloak over her first and then laid down several blankets. Once he thought she was settled enough he looked at her sleeping face. He couldn’t help speaking a few thoughts out loud.

“Jeez this had been some night hasn’t it? I just hope that we can get along in the future and well maybe I can learn more about you and you about me, maybe… gah why am I even saying these things to someone asleep.”

The hardest thing was turning away without trying to kiss her in some way. He just knew he couldn’t kiss her until he was sure all of these feeling were right. He wouldn’t ruin something, do to these passions he felt. He did manage to turn and pulled out a sleeping bag, a small travel pillow and used the last blanket to make a bed for himself on the floor.

He listened to the howl of the wind outside and wondered what tomorrow morning would be like. Despite this his thoughts kept drifting to Hollis and replaying what had happened over and over again. He wasn’t sure when he finally fell into sleep, but it was much later than usual for him.

It was very likely that Hollis would wake up first. The storm would be better than it had been last night, but not completely gone. She would also probably find that the snow had built up quite a bit around the hut. The doors were already probably jammed shut with snow and if the storm kept going they might be snowed in for at least two or three days.

As Hollis slept, she had many different flashes of dreams, but not a full dream.

At one point, she was stuck in the desert, with nothing but one thing of water, and Keass. The two of them walked for a while, and then sat down. She could remember nothing after that. Another one, she was alone in a cave, and then a bright light ahead showed her a dragon that she had never seen before. Something told her that it was her father, but she couldn't be sure about that one...
And, then there was another one, but she couldn't remember it...

~ ~ ~

Hollis woke with a start. She tried to see if she could remember anything of what happened and why she was in the bed. She was very comfortable and warm. When she looked around, she saw that Keass was laying in a bed of blankets. As she looked closer, she saw that he had a comfertable sleep bag underneath him. This made her calm down a bit. She sat up, and tried to bring back anything from last night. Which was unsuccesful. All she remembered was something that felt like a dream. Right after she had fallen asleep, Hollis thought that she saw Keass put her in the bed. But, that couldn't be, could it? But, how else would she have gotten there without him putting her there?

Hollis shook her head, and started to get up. She stretched, and then remembered that she felt kind of hungry. She looked around, but couldn't really see anything that would be nice to eat.

Kaess never had many dreams that he remembered, but he remembered them this morning. All of them had been about Hollis and himself traveling together or training his students at the monastery.

In the morning he woke up with a yawn and saw Hollis was up. He stretched a bit before it hit him that she was still there and they were still in this cabin and from the looks of it snowed in. Somehow he found she looked even prettier than when he first met her yesterday ‘Aghh that is last night getting to me….Great just great…. And last night… what was last night….’

Still he found himself looking at her again taking in her beautiful form, remembering last night and wondering what it would be like to kiss her. When she noticed Kaess looking he would blush deeply and even though he wasn’t sure what to say really, but he gave it a go.

“Umm… I hope I didn’t bother you last night, when I laid you in the bed. You sort of fell asleep during … well all that and …… I sort of had to lift you up in my arms ....” Stumbling over the words he decided quickly to change the subject. “…. Well I mean hope you had a good night’s sleep. Are you hungry? What do you feel like for breakfast. I still have some ham and some bread, maybe a little cheese?”

He hoped he hadn’t said anything stupid. He wanted to talk to her more today and find out more about her, but the entire situation felt like it was unnatural at the same time. Her being trapped here in this tiny cabin with him, just made him feel like these feelings might be false. He had heard stories of brief love when two people were trapped like this, but he didn’t want that.

It was then he thought of another problem. As a half dragon he didn’t sweat that much, but both of them had trained yesterday and wearing the same clothes today and/or maybe a few more days could start causing a stink. Plus there could be a thousand other problems including disease. Of course the problem was how do you fix that problem? Not to mention even talk about it to a lady. He pondered this with everything else while he waited for her response.

Hollis just smiled. She shook her head no when he mentioned breakfast. When she thought about it, she released that she wasn't really hungry. "I'm good for now, thank you." When she said this, Hollis put her down, blushing a little as she watched the way the snow outside shimmered off of his scales. It really made them shimmer a very pretty color.

That was when Hollis got a very strange and strong want to draw. She looked around the little cabin, but saw little in the way of drawing utensil's, or even writing things. She almost said this when she saw that Keass was looking at her again, and she put her head down and blushed, again, not sure what to say.

She stood up, and went over to her bag, wondering if she might've brought her own things. She had her spell book, and her quill, but that was it. So, Hollis flipped through her spell book, hoping she had an open page or two. Luck was with her. She did. Hollis went over to the window, and started to sketch the way the snow glistened on the leaves, the bushes, the groud...

Kaess nodded briefly and when he saw her duck down and blush he turned away trying to focus on other things. He took a slice of ham to munch on as a distraction, but he didn’t really taste it at all. Staring out the other window he wondered what he could do with all the problems with being stuck in this place. However, no matter what he couldn’t seem to focus that long on any one problem. It was like his head was in a cloud.

No matter what he tried it seemed his gaze kept drifting back towards Hollis. She seemed so calm and pretty sitting there in front front of the window. She seemed to be drawing again and it reminded him of when they had met yesterday. It still seemed odd to think it had only been yesterday.

Before he even realized it his feat had taken closer and closer to her, until he was able to see what she was drawing. He tried not to say anything, but just felt like watching her draw. She seemed to have quite the skill with a pen.

His still confused thoughts continued to work away in his head while he watched her work, ‘I wonder how long she has been drawing….. and I still don’t know that much about her, but how do you ask someone these things? I can’t even say a word right now how am I even supposed to ask her questions?.......’

A very large part of him would hope she would start talking so that maybe he didn’t feel so foolish just watching in silence. He could then find out more about Hollis too…. Then again somehow just standing there was nice too.

The snow continued to fall softly outside and you could hear the small crackle of the fire that kept the cabin warm. Besides this though there was hardly any noise to disturb the two.

Hollis smiled to herself as she felt Keass walked up behind her. She couldn't help but feel happy to feel him behind her. Hollis racked her brain for something to say, but couldn't think of anything that could start up a conversation. So, she sat on the ground, drawing the bush. The way the icicles feel from the bush, almost touching the ground. The snow, falling silently, now that the storm had passed. The shadows, made by the sun behind all the clouds. Everything that caught her eyes that would look good in her picture, Hollis would draw. All of it.

As the time went on, Hollis was pleased to know that the silence didn't bug her as much as she thought it would. But, it was odd... Hollis knew that Keass wanted to talk -somehow- but she didn't know what to say. So, she just kept quiet. Happily.

Before Hollis knew, the sun had gone to the other side of the sky and the sky had started to change color, and she hadn't eaten. That, too, was when she noticed that the snow had stopped. Hollis stood up a little faster than she meant to in her excitement. "It's stopped!" She almost yelled. She knew that it was to dark to start heading out, but if this weather held, they would be able to leave in the morning.

Once all of her drawing things had been placed down carefully, she ran outside, leaving the door open for Keass to follow. She started to walk in a circle in place, her held tilted back, closed her eyes, and let the slight sun that made it through the clouds fall on her eyelids. "Mmmm, It's nice to be outside again..." Hollis half whispered as she let her arms drop, and open her eyes. She walked around in her little circle until she found Keass. She smiled shyly when she made eye contact, and blushed at her childness. That was the type of thing that she would've done as a child, when the snow stopped if it wasn't to dark.

Hollis went back to stand next to Keass, and took his hand in hers. Her hand was a little warmer than normal, but because of the cold air outside, it wasn't a noticeable as it could have been. Her blush grew more as she felt his nice hand in hers, but she still couldn't think of anything to say. Hollis would wait until Keass said something, if he said anything at all.

Kaess found the time to pass faster than he could imagine. He watched her draw for hours finding that just standing quietly incredibly satisfying. He marveled at her skill as her thing hands slowly drew the cold landscape outside. Looking mostly at Hollis, Kaess had not noticed the snow stopping and was surprised when she suddenly jumped up with an excited yell and ran outside.

It took him a moment to recover as she went outside, but he soon followed her. He saw her turning in a circle outside seeming to take simple pleasure in the setting sun. It reminded him of his own youth when his master would take him out to play in the snow. He simply smiled finding his thoughts drifting into some of the happier moments of the past.

When their eyes met again he felt a small blush of his own form and was surprised yet again when she took his hand. Given he was always sensitive to heat he could tell that her hand was warmer than before, but he wasn’t sure what that meant.

Odlly enough her grabbing his hand caused his thoughts to go odd directions to stories his father had told him about his own mother. One story in particular had been on a day like this. ‘I wonder… maybe she would like to see that. I can probably do it with my magic. Probably not as good as dad, but it can still work. Plus the spot isn’t too far we could probably make it there and back before it was too late.’

Before he could really think more about it he asked her, “Umm… well you seemed to be enjoying yourself out here. Would you perhaps… um like to go to spot I know of? It gives a great view and …. Well maybe show you a little trick I know…..” He wasn’t quite sure what else to say.

If she agreed he would lead her towards the lake a little ways to rocky out cropping in a clearing that gave a wide view out across the lake. Seeing the setting rays of the sun reflecting off of the snowy lake created a beautiful view. If she didn’t mind he would continue to hold her hand for the short walk. If she asked he would provide some food from his bag.

While they were walking he didn’t say anything, but he did start a spell to shift the winds a little. He wasn’t very good with this spell, but he managed to get them moving the way he wanted to. When they got to the outcropping he would let go of her hand and ask her to stay back a bit. He would unleash a powerful blast of dragon fire into the winds he had created. The powerful flames split apart into the air, but did not go out. They were then slowly swept down towards the lake with bits of snow as well. The combination created a unique dance of snow and fire that slowly would settle on the lake down below.
If she decided to decline his offer Kaess would simply nod in understanding and go inside to prepare dinner.

Though she was little surprised, Hollis followed Keass. She kept his hand in hers. It helped her keep the temperature even. For some reason, his warm hand cooled hers a little bit. I wonder why it is... Must just be my mind playing with me again... thought Hollis.

When they got to the lake, Hollis gasped at how pretty it was. The lake had at least one layer of ice over top of it. The setting sun shot pinks, reds, and yellows into the ice. If you looked closely, you could see the many layers breaking the colors and turning it into a kind of rainbow. It was beautiful, breath-taking, and almost, in a way, an other-worldly beauty in her eyes.

That was before Keass used his fire. The wind had been changing slightly on the way down there, and Hollis had gotten a little cold. Not noticeably cold, but a little. When a gust came, Keass did his fire bending and picked up some snow. Once he got some up, he throw the fire-and-snow mixture to the lake. It broke up the ice more, but it -somehow- made the lake look pretty. The lake now had white going through it, and some of the fire stayed light on the lake, so you had that reflecting in ice.

Hollis took in another gasp and brought her hands up to her mouth, her eyes wide as she looked at how beautiful the lake looked now. "It's beautiful, Keass..." she whispered. She wanted to reach out and take his hand again, but didn't in case he had more that he wanted to show her. She stared at the lake, as the little bit of snow that had been taken up by Keass settled onto the lake, adding to the beauty even more.

After finishing his display Kaess turned and offered his hand to Hollis. He would help her up onto the ledge where they could sit and continue to watch the scene he had created. He thought it probably wasn’t as impressive as what his father could have done, but it looked like he had impressed Hollis at least. This fact oddly made him feel really pleased with himself as he sat down with her.

At this point he realized that it just wasn’t worth fighting against these instincts that much, but he could moderate his actions. He hopped she wouldn’t mind if he continued to hold her hand and he left it for her to choose how close she wanted to sit. However, without realizing it he even stretched out one of his wings behind her to shield her from the wind. Unintentional or not it left a clear invitation to sit close to him. Of course the closer she sat the more distracted his thoughts and speech became.

After a few moments of silence he would speak to her. “It is quite beautiful. My father said he did something similar the first time he met my mother. It was probably a lot more spectacular than what I did, but well….” Blushes a bit. “umm … You see I thought that the way you see the beauty in nature ….I thought you might like this sort of thing too…. “ Mumbling to himself so it is hard to hear, but not impossible. If she is really close to him she probably can make out what he says. “Though it isn’t as pretty as you.” It is clear he didn’t mean for to say or for her to hear this out loud and he blushes brightly at his own words even if Hollis did not hear him. After that he can’t really turn his head towards her, but tries to look out at the lake and distract himself. Thinking, ‘Stupid why did you have to say that…..’

Hollis took his hand, and they went up to the ledge to watch what Keass had created. They sat in silence for a moment, and then Hollis felt another chill. Keass put his wing out, and Hollis cuddled closer to him. He was warm, and it was colder than she thought it would be.

After another moment of silence, Keass spoke of his father. His father had done something like this when they'd meet, too. Hollis rested her hand on his shoulder as he spoke. She smiled when he said that she liked the beauty of nature is what made him think to this. She enjoyed the thought for a moment. She liked the way the leaves looked on the lake.

At his next words, Hollis blushed again. The more time the two of the spent together, the more they blushed. Hollis didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to say. She knew that the words weren't meant for her to hear them, but, she did. And she didn't know what to do. For now, Hollis decided that she would pretend that she didn't hear them.

"It's beautiful, and I'm sure that what he did was just pretty as what you've created. Don't pull yourself. Keep her head high. What you do is good." Hollis almost reached up and kissed his check, but she held herself. She didn't know what he would do if she did that, and she didn't want anything to happen to their relationship.

Kaess blushed at Hollis’ comment and couldn’t help feeling really proud and happy that he had impressed her. He noticed that she almost moved towards doing something more. Again he was oddly conflicted as he was both relieved and disappointed over this. He could feel his instincts wanting him to do so much more, but he held back and watched the scene with her until the last dots of flame slowly disappeared.

He couldn’t find anything to say and remained silent for a few minutes longer until he got up. It was then that words came to him. He reached down his hand to help her up. “Thanks a lot of your words. I am glad you liked it. It really means a lot hearing those things from you.”

After helping her up he left an opening as a clear invitation to take his arm as they walked back. A part of him really hopped that she would. He realized that he wasn’t thinking all that clearly, but the feeling he got from her complement earlier was enough for him to ignore that fact. He knew that the next that they would probably be able to leave, but again those thoughts weren’t important right then.

If she did hold on to his arm the way back he wouldn’t be able to stop blushing all the way back, but it certainly would feel nice too. Plus there was the advantage of keeping warm. He kept telling himself that keeping her warm was the real reason he offered that arm, even if he knew it was for other reasons.

If she did not he would simply walk back to the cabin with her, not making any more moves, but just trying to enjoy the walk.

He also wondered what he would do once they were back at the cabin.

Hollis smiled, pleased that she had made him happy. She knew that making people was more important to her than she made it seem, even to herself. She lied to herself all the time about things, and she did sometimes feel guilty. Like with Jasmine. Though she knew she was better off without that stupid cat, she missed having something to talk to.

Hollis shook the thought from her head. She didn't like the cat. But, wondering around wasn't very fun by oneself. Hollis had thought about getting another friend, but she hadn't acted yet. Maybe, now she should.

When Kaess left it open for Hollis to hold his arm, she did. If he asked, she would just say that she was cold. That wasn't fully a lie...nor the truth.

As they walked back to the cabin, Hollis wondered what they would do. Sooner or later, the two of them would have to part. Go about their lives...Hollis hoped that didn't come any time soon. She was happy to spend days -or weeks- with Kaess. She smiled at his words. She didn't know what to say, so she left it up to Kaess what they would talk about now.

((Sorry it's no good... Shan is rushing me!! :XD: Kidding, but, yeah... I know its no good...))

They got back to the cabin without an issue and Kaess was more than a little distracted with Hollis holding his arm. It was by far one of the more enjoyable things that had happened to him in some time. He still held a tight grip on his emotions keeping them from getting out of hand, but he certainly found it difficult on that walk back.

Once inside he distracted himself with making what dinner he could for the two of them. It was simple enough and he handed her a plate of food when he was done. He sat down himself and wondered what to say. He took a few bites before he realized what he really wanted to ask. It took him a few more moments before he could work up the courage to look at her and ask his question.

“Umm… so if the weather holds,I will probably need to get back to my monastery and my students there…, so umm not that you need to answer … I … I just sort of curious… where do you plan on traveling to from here?”

He was extremely nervous and it probably showed in his body movements. They were normally very controlled, but he just couldn’t focus fully. He didn’t even realize he was showing his nervousness. As he asked and he really hopped she would ask if she could join him on the way back to his monastery. He knew that was an unlikely answer, but he still hopped she would say something like that.

He quietly worked on his food while he waited for and/or listened to her answer. He wasn’t sure how, but he was sure that something would change depending on how she answered. He just wished he knew what it was.

OOC: Don't worry so much about it. Just do whatever you can. It is fun either way.

Hollis sat by the bed, her back leaning against it, thinking. Part of her was curious as to what he did at the monastery. And, yet, there was a small part of her that really didn't know what to do. She had never been asked to do anything close to that. After a moment of chewing, Hollis saw that Keass was acting...nervous? He must be nervous about her answer. Hollis nodded to herself, making her mind as to what to say.

"Honestly? I don't have anywhere that I was going to go to. Maybe my sisters place? I may to visit her at the -" Hollis broke off. One thought went through her head at the moment, and it went through very fast. Should I saw anything about the Divschatten? After all, it is a demon guild... No, I won't. What if he knows of the guild, and of Aether, and doesn't like them?!? All of that went through her head in a few short seconds. One wouldn't notice right away that she stopped talking, but it was very subtle that she did.

"- house. That is really the only place I could go. What do you do the monastery?" Hollis asked. Part of her hoped to get the subject away from her short stumble. She didn't want Keass to ask what her sister did, but she wouldn't mind if he asked who she was. Hollis loved for people to know of her sister. Those that did know her, or knew of her, knew that AD was awesome. Once you get to know her, that is...

Hollis ate of few bites of her food as she waited. Once he spoke, she would make a comment, and then tell him that the food was great. It might just be the fact that the two of them where stuck in the cabin, but the food tasted really well. Hollis looked out the window again, and saw small snow flakes. Not the type that would stick to the ground, but it was still snowing. She smiled, and then went back to her food.
