Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Rimmon grinned from ear to ear when Niki said that she liked her. It was a pretty good start. She shrugged her shoulders when she said she couldn’t make the call for the other guild members, and figured she would find out soon enough.

She caught the axe when it was tossed to her, and stood up after Niki, walking around their area as she watched her get into her stance and withdraw her sword. She wasn’t sure about how to start it, so she held the axe with both hands, and lunged toward the woman, aiming to try and dodge the swing of her sword whenever she swung at her, and slice her legs so that it would be a bit harder for her to move around. Rimmon knew she had a few advantages and disadvantages with her child size, but she wanted to learn all of them so that she would know exactly how she was to take each opponent down before they took her down.

If Niki was able to counter-attack, Rimmon would simply throw herself out of the way of the sword, but would probably end up getting cut either way. After all, she was not experienced in fighting, so she didn’t know what kinds of first moves were good ones. Not only that, but she had no idea about counter-attacks. That just went to show how much she did not know.

((sorry it’s short but that’s all ive got for now lol))

Niki nodded to herself as she watched Rimmon walk around. It good that she was doing that. Taking up your opponent was a good place to start. As she had expected Rimmon to do, the child-like girl went after Niki's knees. She dodged around them easily enough. Though she thought the axe had made slight contact, it hadn't been enough to cause any damage... Niki was quick though, and swung her sword at top of Rimmon's head when she had recovered. Most people in a fight wouldn't have waited, but the time that had lapsed hadn't been enough to worry about that. "You must be prepared for anything. Put your axe up to counter-attack me." Niki instructed. The time went by just the same as this...

~ ~ ~

It was getting closer to dark than Niki would have liked when she finally called a stop to their little fight. She was sure that she had a few bruises, and thought that she was going to pay for one swing that Rimmon had done to her knee. All in all, Niki was very pleased with how the girl had done. "You fought well. Just keep in mind the little tips that I gave, and you should be in good shape till next time. Lets take a break and get something to eat, and then set out... How does that sound?" Niki could see that she was the girl would want a break. After all, Niki was breathing heaver than she had last time, and she thought that Rimmon was, as while.

Niki turned around and headed to the meat. "You hungry?" She called over her shoulder. This was also kind of a test. If Rimmon had learned much of anything, she should have learned that you never, never, turn your back on the one you are fighting. For they could easily take you out, then...

Rimmon ducked just in time to avoid getting a blow to the head, feeling the breeze of the sword’s movement through her hair. She made sure to lift the axe to counterattack each move, and quickly learned from any mistakes she made. The girl was certain to keep her eyes on Niki, never turning her back or looking away for even just a second.

~~~
Rimmon knew that she had a few bruises, and even a couple slices in her skin when they brought the fight to a halt, but she didn’t let the pain bother her. Bruises and cuts were nothing compared to the pain she went through during her slavery.
As the darkness approached, a faint white flame was visible around the girl like an aura, and it became stronger as the darkness crept around them. Rimmon noticed this, but it didn’t bother her at all. She was very curious about what exactly it was, but she wasn’t so sure if Niki would understand it either. After all, Rimmon didn’t see any white flame surrounding her or her wolf.
She nodded to her when Niki said that she had fought well, smiling a bit as she let her muscles relax. She didn’t let her guard down completely, though, understanding now that Niki could turn around and attack again at any second. She didn’t want to risk any disappointment. “Sounds good to me, Niki.” She said, smiling at her, but still keeping an eye on her. As soon as she turned her back and walked over to the meat, a red flag waved around in her head. A part of her wanted to whip out her dagger and chuck it at Niki’s head, but at the same time, she was her friend. She didn’t want to kill her.
So, instead, Rimmon chucked her dagger at a tree directly on the other side of Niki, aiming it so that it would graze her arm as it passed, then enter the tree. “I’m very hungry.” She answered, sitting down where she had slept the previous night, just a few feet from where the meat was. She kept her eyes on Niki, of course, holding the axe casually, but in such a way that she could easily defend herself if the demon decided to raise her sword to her. “I could go for some deer meat, though. Got any?” she asked, planning on shapeshifting into her wolf form to go hunting just in case she didn’t. For some reason, she really felt like hunting something down right now, despite being a little tired from the fight.
Niki took a mental note about how Rimmon sat in exactly the same spot that she had slept, but at the moment, had no use for it...
"Uhh, I don't believe I have any deer meat... I still have to go through all if it, though... Let me look." As she bent down, Niki also noted that Rimmon held the axe at such an angel to which it looked comfortable, but at the same time she could whip it up and do a counterattack if Niki where to attack her. Good, she has learned something... Maybe I'm not as bad of a teacher as I thought I was... Niki thought as she looked through her case.
She had put her sword down at her side, to show that she wasn't going to attack, and looked through her case. Niki frowned as she looked though. "it likes I only have one piece left. Do you want it?" Niki held it up over the top of the lid to the case, so that Rimmon could see it, since the case was on her lap, covering her face. The piece wasn't big, but it could, in a way, feed a person to last said person for a little bit. Niki didn't hunt down deers to often. They tended to weigh a little more than her case could carry, and then she had to get all of her other meat in there, as while.
"I don't often hunt deer. It's a bit much for my case, along with all the other meats that I have, you see." Niki looked up at the sky. The sun had set by this point, so there was no way to cook the meat. That was when Niki noticed a slight glow around the clearing. As she looked around, Niki found that the light was coming off Rimmon, herself. Niki tilted her head to the side, in slight confusion that she was sure would show on her face - whether it be that her eyebrows went together, or something else, it would show...
Niki decided that, unless Rimmon said anything, she would just let the subject be. Instead, the thought had just hit her that her wolf would need feeding. "Menchi, Menchi, come here. Time to eat dinner." As her wolf came out of the shade of the trees, he carried a small animal in his mouth. By the looks of it, he had caught himself a squirrel. He came over, and set at Niki's feet. She picked up, and looked at it. "Nice catch! Good boy!" Niki bent back down as she said the last bit and petted him. Menchi brought up his back leg a bit, and scratched at himself, as though she had just hit "his spot". Niki smiled and let her arm fall off his head. She sat back down, and went to work taking out the bones and such so that her wolf could enjoy his meal.
As soon as Niki held up the piece of deer meat, her eyes lit up. “Yes please!” she answered right away, holding her hands up to show she would catch it if Niki tossed it over. She seemed to be a lot more at ease now that Niki had sheathed her sword. “I’m so hungry I could eat a whole deer.” She said, showing just how intense her appetite got at times. Her enthusiasm was mostly coming from how hungry she was, but at least her voice was not loud enough for anybody nearby to hear her.
When she noticed Niki’s confusion that was when Rimmon noticed the white glow coming off of her. The girl grinned a little bit, as if the glow amused her. After a moment, she thought about the glow not being there, and then it disappeared. It appeared again when she willed the white glow, and disappeared again when she willed it away. After that, Rimmon seemed to be very pleased with herself.
She didn’t say anything as the wolf ran over to the demon after being summoned and got attention for catching a squirrel. Personally, the girl would not have thought that a squirrel would taste very good. “Has he ever dragged back a cat?” she wondered, thinking about getting a pet of her own. The little ball of fur wasn’t always a great companion.
Seemingly to appear from nothing, a small ball of blonde fur bounced into Rimmon’s lap and looked up at Menchi with big, beady eyes. It didn’t make a sound, but a glare of annoyance flashed across Rimmon’s face. She didn’t say a word about what the little creature was doing in her lap, but it was obvious that the ball of fur was not harmful.
Niki nodded, pleased that Rimmon could will the glow around her, or not, as she choose. It would come in helpful later on. Niki threw the meat to Rimmon when she had her arms open wide, and smiled. It felt like she had a younger sister now. "I kind of don't think that you could eat a whole deer, but, ya never know!" she shrugged, and picked up the rabbit and started to take out all of the bones. Once she was done with that, she roughly cut parts of it up, and handed them to Menchi, and ate small parts.
Niki thought about the question for a moment. "No, but I'm sure he could if he wanted to. I've tried to stay away from people who have pets. I don't know how much they'd like it if a dog started to drag away their dead cat..." Niki said, and then laughed at the image that popped into her head of Menchi dragging someone's dead cat to her, while the cats owner ran after him, yelling at him.
Niki jumped a little at the sight of a little puff ball on Rimmon's lap, but soon released that it was hers. "Ummm, what is that, if you don't mind my asking?" Niki asked. Menchi stared at. He started to growl a little, and Niki hit the top of his head and said firmly "No!" He sat down then and stared at the puff ball.
((Sorry that it's crappy. Haven't posted in months, a little rusty! :XD: )
She caught the piece of meat easily in her hands, and devoured it within a number of minutes, talking to Niki between bites. “If I were in one of my other forms, I’d have no problem eating a whole deer but as I am right now, my stomach is much too small.” She said, looking like she was enjoying the meat very much. Not a single chunk of the meat was given to the little ball of fur. If they were wondering, she’d have to tell them that he only eats candy. It was odd, but the truth none-the-less.
She didn’t comment on what she said in response to Menchi dragging back a cat, and continued to listen to what she was asking about her pet. “Oh, he’s called a Furfur. I don’t know where his body is, or if he even has one. I named him Corson, after one of my deceased brothers. He’s really nice, always smiling with those big beady eyes of his. No matter how much I lose him, or leave him behind, he always finds his way back to me. It’s.... kind of annoying... but at least he’s cute, right?” she lifted him up, cupped in both hands, and nuzzled her face against his, and his facial expression lit up like a kid in a candy store. No sound could be heard, but anybody that had a liking for pets would find it kind of cute.
When Menchi growled, Rimmon stared at him, hoping he wouldn’t ever harm the little Furfur. As annoying as the little furball was, Rimmon really didn’t want to lose him. She was sure he’d come in handy one day. “I don’t even know how old he is, or how young he is.” She added, wondering if Corson could do any little tricks at all.
Niki was torn between disgust, and wonder. She wanted to know more about the FurFur, but at the same time, it looked useless. Niki just let it drop, and went back to the meat. "Are you still hungry? If you're not, then I'm going to eat my bit, and then we're leaving." Niki threw Menchi a piece of the squirrel, and then put the rest of it in her case. Then, she dug out some of her meat, and started to nibble on it. She wasn't as hungry as she thought she was. She stood up, pulling the handle up with her, and then looked around. All of her stuff was still out. Niki shook her head, and then started to pick each thing up.
Once she had her cloak on, dagger hidden, sword sheathed, and her axe on her back, Niki stood up again, and grabbed her case. Right away, Menchi stood up, and started walking her side. Niki looked at Rimmon and ask "Are you ready?" She looked up at the sky. There was no moon, and the trees made it darker. Niki nodded after Rimmon answered, and then started to move. Her case slowed her down, as it normally did, but Niki didn't mind. Menchi stayed at her side, she checked every so often to make sure Rimmon was there. Half the time, as the wandered through the forest trying to get out, there was no need to check, because Niki would ask Rimmon questions about fighting. They had only covered the basics of what Niki knew, but at least that was something.
“Nope, I’m not still hungry. I’ll be good to go for a while now.” She answered, appearing to be very happy that they’ll be heading out as soon as Niki’s finished eating. She watched as she gathered all of her stuff, and then stood immediately when she asked if she was ready. Obviously, she had lots of energy and was ready to take on any adventure.
Despite that there was no moon, she was still able to see perfectly in the dark. She had lived in darkness long enough, so she had developed ebon eyes which allowed her to be able to see in any sort of darkness. Letting Corson sit upon her shoulder, Rimmon silently and swiftly kept pace with Niki, holding her dagger at her side, ready for any sudden attack. She wasn’t actually expecting anything to happen, but it was after dark in the middle of a forest. Anything could happen. She didn’t want to be unaware of her surroundings because that had gotten her into trouble too many times before.
Any questions that Niki had for Rimmon, she would answer promptly with whatever her response was, and use a quiet voice as to not attract any unwanted attention. There wasn’t much that they could do to prevent something from attacking them, but keeping quiet was usually a good thing anyway. Any questions that she did not know the answer to, she would tell Niki right away. There was no use in pretending that she knew all the answers.
Niki walked behind Rimmon in silence. Had it been someone else, Niki would have led, but she didn't like walking in the pitch dark, not knowing where she is was going, so she let Rimmon lead.
Sooner than they knew, lights started to come up. Niki nodded, and started to lead, not being rude about it. It was still dark, which helped Niki because that meant that little time had been wasted. They walked in silence for the most part. Niki would ask a question, but she tried not to ask to many. Keeping quiet was very important...
~ ~ ~
After a few hours, the started to raise. Niki was okay with continuing for a little bit while the sun started to go up, and then at would be about 10:30 in the morning, Niki said, "I think we should stop for the...day?" She laughed a little at that, and then turned to look at Rimmon. They where right next to the forest, so staying hidden would be easy if Rimmon wanted to stop. If Rimmon asked how much longer, Niki would answer with her best guess, saying that it was her best guess. When they get to a place to rest, Niki takes everything off. She lays her cloak down first, like a mattress, and then she would put her Axe on one side, and her Sword on the other. Menchi would curl up wherever he finds comfortable, and then she lays down. "You can sleep here too, if you'd like, Rimmon." Niki said over her shoulder before she feel asleep.
~ ~ ~
Niki woke up in the middle of the night, and saw that Menchi was curled up right next to Rimmon. Niki thought for a moment, and then decided that it was quite enough to get up. She stood up slowly, and then shook Rimmon slightly. Once she got a response from Rimmon, she grabbed food from her chest, and throw a piece in Rimmon direction. She then started to put all of her stuff on, holding her sword instead up putting it in sleeve. She kept it hidden slightly so that no one would know right away that it was there.
((drop out!))
Rimmon had no idea exactly where they were walking to, but she supposed that getting out of this forest was the first thing to do. So, she went in the direction of where she could see more light. More light meant fewer trees, as far as she knew, and soon enough, the trees became less and less, and they were finally out of the forest. It didn’t feel like it took very long, but Rimmon could feel her legs burning from walking so far in one night.
~ ~ ~
Rimmon let Niki knew that she felt a lot safer if they were hidden in the trees, so they stayed at the edge of the forest to rest. She moved over to where she felt was a good spot, and used her backpack as a pillow. She slept soundly, but if someone were to watch her sleep, they might be able to see that her dreams were not very pleasant. It was possible that she was having a nightmare, but when she woke up from Niki shaking her, she woke up normally, not startled or paranoid for any reason. She smiled at Menchi, petting him a little bit before getting up.
~ ~ ~
She sat up, catching the piece of meat when it was thrown to her. She slept with everything attached to her. Even her backpack strap was lightly wrapped around one of her arms. After eating, she stood up to stretch out her muscles, grabbed her backpack, and headed out again with Niki. Rimmon was excited to meet the guild, and wanted to get there as quickly as possible.
