| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Freedom. She thought she’d never see it again. The demon child was enslaved to a Drow twice in her life now, and she planned on keeping her freedom this time. It only seemed right. She was a full-fledged demon, after all... She just needed to discover what her true abilities were... As she treaded through the dark forest, she almost felt as though she was most at home out here. This was the first time she had ever been this way, but with the darkness and gloom that surrounded her, it was almost as though she were in a dream. This was exactly the type of place she’d stay in, if she had the knowledge how to build a house here. It would be nice and quiet, considering she saw nobody in sight. Any other creatures here would probably be afraid of her, just because of her demonic aura, and she was sure that the food and water would be abundant, too. She shook her head, shaking the thoughts away for now. She was supposed to actually pay attention to her surroundings. Last time she failed to pay attention, she got captured and forced into slavery for the second time. She breathed deeply, keeping herself calm and alert, stopping to make a 360 to fully view her surroundings, then continued on her way through the forest. When she started noticing the ground was getting muddy, she turned to the side, avoiding the mud. From spending so long in intense experimentation with her last master, she had gained the ability to shift herself into an older version of herself, her tail was longer than normal, and she even had retractable claws in all three forms. This included, her true form, which was what she appeared as now (her 6yr old self), her demon form (which was getting stronger by the day), and her older form (the mentioned ‘older version’ of herself). She would only use her older version if she felt threatened as a child, but it would only make sense to use it if nobody saw her shapeshift into that form. Then, they’d assume that’s what she always appeared as. Ideas started going through her mind, with how she could trick others about how old she actually was, when she heard other sounds around her. She held the straps of her backpack tightly, looking around until she could see whatever it was that made the noise. Her dark eyes wide open, she could easily see any movement, even in the darkness. With all the darkness she spent in during her childhood, her eyes learned how to easily adapt to darkness, so any light always really hurt. . . |

Niki had always loved the dark. It made her feel happier to know that there was some where dark to go. Niki had found this forest by accented while she was exploring Imythess. And the darkness just added the happiness she felt. And right now, Niki was so happy that she wasn't bothering to keep quite. She was almost sure that no one else would be in the forest, that she wouldn't keep quite. She knew that it was stupid, but that didn't change the fact... After a few hours of wondering around the forest, Niki thought that she heard another being. She stopped where she stood. Niki had been in here so long that she saw everything. So, when a small figure did a 360, looking for the noise that Niki was making, Niki saw it. Niki walked forward, when the figure was looking the other way. She got close enough to see that the figure was a girl. She looked rather young to be wondering this forest. But, looks can be deceiving. That, Niki had learned the hard way. By the look of it, the girl was alone. Which isn't very smart. Again, the girl had her back to Niki, and by the looks of it, she looked like she was trying to find Niki. So, Niki stepped to the small clearing that the girl was in. The trees where very thick here, which made for good hiding. But, Niki didn't want to hide. Right before she stepped into the little bit of light that this clearing gave, Niki pulled out her axe. And, as she hopped, it made some noise as she walked forward. When the girl looked right at Niki, she said "A girl like you shouldn't be wondering around a forest like this. You never know when the next thing well come swinging at you..." and as she said this, Niki whipped off a leave that had fallen from her axe, as to add to the dramatic effect. At once, when Niki stood the way she did-leaning against the nearest tree as though she owned it-, one would know right away that she demon. And that she was proud of it, to. That was unmistakable. Even to someone who knew little about demons... Like Niki. Like every other piece of trash at her old home. The one place that Niki would never go back to... |

The girl jumped when she heard footsteps behind her. She spun around, and finally found who it was making said noise. She found herself feeling a bit relieved, now that she had a face to the sounds she was hearing, but at the same time, she had learned before to never trust anybody right away. Too many times had she trusted someone too quickly. “Oh, then it’s a good thing that you came around, isn’t it? Now I’m not alone.” she asked rhetorically, unsure of how she felt about this stranger. She was definitely aligned in the dark side, but she had no idea what her intentions were. There had to be a reason for her walking up behind her like this, but when she swung her axe to add drama to what she said about things swinging at her, she barely even flinched. That axe was nothing, compared to one sword that she had quickly learned to fear. She really hoped she’d never come across that demon again. He’d probably succeed in killing her next time. She was in enough shock as it was, just that she actually got away the first time. It was anyone’s guess what she wanted. The child had been through enough that nothing really scared her anymore. Of course, if someone wanted to scare her badly enough, they’d eventually get her. For now though, she had to keep up her guard. There was no way she’d let another female demon into her head. The demon child had had quite enough of those mind games. She stepped around the trees, cautious of this woman’s actions as she moved. Her dark eyes stayed fixed on the woman, watching and listening to her every movement. “Are you trying to scare me or something? Cause it’s really not gonna work.” She tried to sound like she was more brave than she actually was, not wanting this demon to take advantage of her, just because she was a kid. Looks can most certainly be deceiving... especially with a demon child like Rimmon... |

Niki kept her senses sharp. Any movement, and Niki was sure to hear it. What a stupid question! thought Niki. She was no ones guard, in anyway! "If you want someone to watch over you, you found the wrong Demon girl..." said Niki. She was positive that the girl would react, in some way. Whether she freaks out, out raged, or just try to hide it, Niki didn't know. Most times, when Niki did something stupid like that, whom ever she was talking to would get mad. Not that Niki really wanted to get in a fight with anyone... To her surprise, the girl thought that Niki was trying to scare her. A wicked smile came upon her face. Scaring wasn't something that Niki tried to do most times, but when the opportunity came, she would never say no. Niki took a step closer to the girl. In a way that said "I mean no harm... unless you do." She raised an eyebrow. Then, Niki said "Why in the name of gods, would I try to scare another a demon? I may still be new this place, I have more brains then to that!" By the end, Niki was almost offended... Almost... If it weren't for the fact that this was a girl Demon, Niki would haven't had bothered with not acting sneaky. ((I may edit this tomorrow, but if you post, I won't bother!)) |

Rimmon was confused. When she mentioned it was a good thing that Nike came along, she was being sarcastic. It seemed that this demon had no idea how to read others. “Are you serious? Why would I want you to watch over me? Why would I want anyone to watch over me?” she was not expecting any particular answer in return to this. She just wanted to make things clear. “I’ve spent too long under the watch of others. I’m quite content taking care of myself.” The way she spoke made it sound like she was much older than she looked, and probably much more experience than she looked. The only thing she lacked was somebody to help her be stronger and to let her discover her own natural abilities, rather than just staying with what she already knew. The young demon, standing just over four feet tall, looked up at the woman, raising an eyebrow after she raised her eyebrow, as if mimicking every movement. She kept her hands at her sides, squaring out her feet with her shoulders. “Well, some demons like scaring others. I’ve never heard of a demon that wouldn’t want to scare someone. Even somebody as vulnerable as me.” She said, giving the woman a strange look now. The girl took in a deep breath, watching her for a while, then finally said in a quiet tone that would make someone have to listen harder, “You should really work on being nice.” This had to be a once in a lifetime experience. Who knew, that there were actually demons out there that didn’t want to try scaring others, especially not other demons. Rimmon’s whole life was basically spent around Drows and really dangerous demons. She didn’t really understand anything else... The child’s obsidian eyes remained locked on the lady demon, expecting her to make some sort of attack... |

Ahh, the mind of children! The girl asked questions about needing to be watched. Niki know that the girl wasn't expecting, or wanting-one or the other- an answer to her question. And Niki had the full intent of answering them, when the girl spoke again. She spoke of being under the eyes of other demons, or at least other figures, for a while... by the sound of it. It was then that Niki had a thought. How old is this girl? The way she speaks, she is old then she looks... Niki made a "hmmm" sound as she thought. She had a plan brewing in her mind. But, in order to put it into action, Niki need to get to know the girl first. Then, she would offer... "If I may ask, how old are you, and what is your name?" asked Niki. Anyone who could talk, knew that there was more meaning behind those words then what was on the surface. But, with Niki, no one could ever been sure what that was... "Perhaps most Demons like to scare others, but I am not like most other Demons. I would ask the same thing to you..." Niki said. She knew that she was acting smart-all eke like, she knew that if this girl knew anything about fighting, that she would most likely pay for what she did. But, yet, still Niki did it. She was getting a reputation of acting like a butt when she meets people now a days. She knew that if her mother where here with her, she wouldn't be happy with Niki, but that didn't stop Niki from acting the way that she did. Then, the girl mirrored her. Raising her eyebrow at the same time, as if to say something. At least, that is how it came across to Niki. Then, the girl said something that really took Niki off her guard... "You should really work on being nice." Be nice...? To someone I don't know?!? Thought Niki. She would never tell anyone that, but still! "Tell ya what. I'll work on Trying to be nicer, if you'll do me a favor. And, who knows, this favor may help you more then you know..." Niki was trying to be sneaky, but she really didn't think that she was. But, hey, you never know! She was trying to set her plan to action a little to soon... |

It was partly because she had no idea how to tell what peoples intentions were... but it was mainly because she was still too young to tell emotions through voices unless it was obvious. Her mind had been in so many places so far in her life, that she had no time to pay attention like that. No wonder she got into trouble so often... The girl gave another strange look when the woman asked her age and name. It was odd that she would just ask straight out like that. Nobody had ever been so obvious about what they wanted to know before. Maybe it would be a better idea to talk as if she were still just four years old. “Well, I think I’m just over a century old, but I don’t know for sure, and my name is Rimmon. What’s your name, and how old are you?” she returned the question right away, hoping she would answer soon. There were only a couple of things she hated more than people not answering her questions. It was only polite to answer right away. Then, the woman said that she’s different from other demons... yeah right... that’s what they all said. “How are you different? You don’t look any different.” she said, crossing her arms now. It seemed that she just couldn’t stand still. “Besides, I’m not doing any favours until I know what the favour is! Last time, I almost got killed.” She told her, standing her ground as she waited, now very curious about what this lady was thinking. Everything she said seemed weird, but Rimmon had no idea how to sum it up to a conclusion that would make sense to her. As far as she could tell now, this demon wanted something, and would go to no ends to get it, just like everyone else she had encountered. However, she paused those thoughts, expecting that the next couple of minutes would expose much needed information... |

The girl answered right away. Which was good. Nike thought it best not to bet around the bush. So, she came right out."25. Niki Iceblood is the name. Don't wear it out." Niki hopped that that the Rimmon got the joke, but she wasn't sure. Niki was getting annoyed of just standing here, so, as she started to talk, Niki started to move towards another clearing that she had seen. This one was a bit bigger, and allowed for sitting in the middle. Niki went straight to the center, and sat down there. "I have a proposal for you. You don't have to give me the answer right now. You don't have to say yes. But, with a girl as young as you, look, Rimmon, you may not know every part of your powers. I could help you with that, if you like. I don't take someone who won't work for there potential, keep in mind. If you want to find out your powers, work for it. I can help...If you want. All I would want in turn was a few little gold coins, and directions to Taras. Up to you..." Niki took out her axe, and started to play with the dark. As she did this, the nature around her changed. Niki pretended to fight the air, as she played with her surroundings. She had fun with this. Playing with peoples was fun. Which, brought Niki to Rimmon;s second question. The answer was complicated. So, Niki just made something up. Close to the truth, but nobody would ever know... except, maybe, Chaos. That last night with him was such a blur, Niki had no clue what had happened, besides him telling her about Taras. Perhaps, but no, would Rimmon come? Niki would have to build up a descent friendship with the child before she asked... "I view myself much different then most Demons do themselves. Don't tell me I don't, because I know how others view themselves... So, what do you say?" Not the way that she would have liked, but, Niki had gotten the point across, and had gotten the question out there. Now, it was up to Rimmon what happened... |

The girl nodded when she answered with her age and name, but she didn’t understand when she said ‘don’t wear it out’. She hadn’t realised that names could be worn out before. Maybe she should be more careful and not say her own name as much. Not like she went around yelling out her name, because that would be foolish, but being more choosy about who knew her name would probably be better. It sounded better, anyway. Rimmon followed Niki into the other clearing, sitting down across from her and crossing her legs. She smiled when Niki finally revealed what she wanted. It was good to hear that she was willing to take gold coins directly, instead of making her work for it first. Rimmon set her backpack beside her, opening it, and looking through. She noticed she had managed to keep four gold coins. That was it, though. She probably spent the last of it on food or something. “Well, I don’t know the way to Taras because I’ve never been there before, but I’m sure I could ask somebody for you.” She pondered about her proposal for a bit longer, agreeing that she definitely needed help finding every part of her powers. Of course, she didn’t expect to make a wish, and there you go, there’s all her powers. No, she had learned long ago that great power comes with great courage, but you need to learn your abilities and know your limits before that courage will ever find you. “I agree.” She said simply, holding out her hand to shake with Niki’s. She had never shook hands before, but she knew this was what most people did when making deals. The young demon didn’t really see where she was trying to go with seeing herself differently than other demons, so she just left it at that. There was no use in arguing about it. She seemed to know what she was talking about... “Just promise me you’ll stay, even after I give you my coins. I can get you some, too. The bigger villages have parties in the middle, and that’s where people really like giving out coins to people who try to show talent.” She didn’t bother saying what it was that she shows people yet. There was no point in being embarrassed already. She always thought that making people guess her age for one coin if they’re wrong was a good way of making some coinage before somebody decided to ruin it for her. There’s always somebody that watches her and finds out that she’s a demon. Luckily though, she’s able to run faster than they ever will in their lifetime. |

Niki nodded. This should be fun. I've never had anything near an apprentice. And now, here stands the first one that I've ever seen. When Rimmon put out her hand to shake. Niki took it, then she pulled Rimmon to her feet. She would have to see what this girl was made of before she know what she had to do. Planning... ugh. I hate planning. But, hey, it gets me what I need! Thought Niki Rimmon said something about Niki not leaving after taking her coins. What a foolish thing to say! Anyone with there right mind would take the money and run. But, then again, I am not it the right mind in the slightest, so who am I to judge.Niki thought. She then nodded to herself."If you want me to work with you, I need to know what you know first, don't I?" Niki asked, already knowing the answer. Niki had planned this out in her head. Sneak attack. It might not work, but worse case was what? A few scratches and bruises? That was nothing! Niki started to circle Rimmon, taking her in. Then, she lounged. Niki made it look like she was going for the back with her axe. In reality, if one could look right, one would see Niki reaching for her dagger. When she got close enough, Niki jabbed the the softer edge of her axe, the handle, in Rimmon's back, and put the dagger to her throat. The smell! Niki had to hold herself back so that she wouldn't take Rimmon right then and there. But, who would miss her? No one. Who would care that another being was slain? Only the good guys. But, still Niki didn't take the life. She was hungry now. But, Niki learned to control it. Her eyes turned a slight shade of orange, but, unless you know what you where looking for, you wouldn't know there was a difference. The only person that Niki was still talking to that might see, was Chaos. Niki had never fought in this manner, sneak attacks, but she had seen it enough to know what she should do. Niki whispered in Rimmon's ear "Is that all you've got? I know you can do better then that." Niki took her axe off her back, and push Rimmon to the ground, not hard, but enough to get the message across -This isn't going to be easy, and some days, it may not even be fun- Niki had not wanted to cause any harm to Rimmon yet. But, in due time, they would both have scares from this for years to come. That, Niki know well... ((OOC- This is the first time that I've done an attack on someone, who was a character. If you read my topic with Chaos, you see that attack some gangs guys, but that is the only thing that I have ever done.. Please go easy!! *hides in corner*)) |

“Well, I have never fought anybody with weapons before, so I don’t know...” she said, turning in step with Niki so that she could keep an eye on her. There was no way that Rimmon was expecting to actually start training right away, but she still had to be careful. Niki was after all a demon, so there was no telling when she might turn her back. She never said anything to promise that she wouldn’t change her mind after Rimmon gave her the gold coins. Perhaps she would wait a bit before giving her any coins. She froze up when the demon moved to attack her, feeling her heart almost jumping out her throat when the blunt end of the axe touched her back and the dagger touched her throat. While she spoke, she got out her dagger carefully and slowly out of her backpack. She didn’t think she had any chance, but she figured it was all part of training. She had to learn how to protect herself one way or another. “It’s a little unfair, though. You have two weapons, and I only have one.” She said, swiftly stepping away as soon as Niki moved. She had learned any swift movements with her feet during her time as a kitten with that Drow master she so recently escaped from. So, it really helped with stepping quickly and quietly now. If it weren’t for the odd twig on the ground, the average ear would not be able to hear her movements. She put more focus into it now, holding her blade so that it pointed behind her if she held it at her side. Rimmon watched Niki closely, trying to see if she could tell which movement she’d go for next. |

Niki laughed. Life was unfair, is unfair, and well always be unfair. So what, Niki had two weapons. Some times that well happen. You may fight someone who has 12 weapons, and you only have an Axe and Dagger. Not that it happened to Niki, but she had gotten in a few fights with some guys who had 4, or more weapons, while she just had her Axe, and her Dagger. "I guess you haven't heard?" Niki teased. She had no clue what Rimmon's held, but assuming they stuck together, she would know, in due time. "Life isn't fair..." Niki said fearsomely. Anyone could tell that there was more to that then what she showed. Niki had kept her story of her past as much to herself as she could. Few know her past. And those that did that weren't there would get killed. "I haven't fought much of anyone, really. It wasn't like this, anyways... You ready?" said Niki. She acted with waiting, though. Niki hide in the trees. She went into the darker part, but still out so that she could watch Rimmon. Niki moved around a bit, making noise. Then, she stood still, waiting to see what Rimmon did. Niki got the shadows ready. She had no clue what she was doing. But, she would wing it! |

Rimmon glared at the woman when she told her life isn’t fair. That had to be the most overused saying ever. Like, the most overused saying in the entire world and other realms. “I guess you haven’t heard?” she repeated her words, her obsidian eyes somehow turning darker. She was just starting out with fighting. Did she really expect her to defend herself from two weapons, when she could barely defend herself from one? This was ridiculous... “Your face isn’t fair.” She blurted out, wanting to chuck her dagger at the woman’s throat, but holding herself back for some reason. She actually thought that Niki was very pretty, but that seemed to be the only thing she could think of to snap back at her. It probably wasn't a good idea, but she knew a hundred times over that life wasn't fair... She expected that she would miss, then she wouldn’t have any weapon at all. However, when Niki moved into the trees to hide, she listened carefully to her movements, her eyes seeing clearly, even in this eerie forest. As soon as she stopped moving, the child pivoted on one foot to face the direction where she thought Niki was, and threw her dagger where she thought Niki was standing. However, she heard it thud into a tree. Go figure. She quickly moved toward the tree where her dagger was stuck, expecting Niki to hang on a minute for her to retrieve her weapon. She felt a little embarrassed that she had missed, but at the same time, she had expected it to happen. She saw a bit of a figure in the shadows near her though, smiling a bit to know that she was close to hitting her target. It took her a couple of tries to get the dagger out of the tree, but once she did, she looked into the trees again to see if she could still see the woman’s shadowed figure... |

Smart-allek? Good... very good. That means that she'll be easily made mad... Which is never good. That can make you act before you think... thought Niki, and Rimmon moved in a circle. "If my face is unfair, then yours must be really unfair..."Said Niki right before she disappeared. Her new plan was to make Rimmon as mad as she could, then end the lesson for the day. More easily said then done, most likely... Then, just as Niki would have thought, Rimmon throw her dagger. She was close, but not quit. Niki could have grinned... But, she held herself. Instead, when the girl came to get her dagger, Niki had a very small, evil smile on her face. Niki thought about tackling the girl, and taking her dagger. That is what someone would have done in a real fight. But, she didn't. Niki let Rimmon get her dagger. After a few minutes of struggle, the girl held her dagger in her hand. Through Rimmons struggle, Niki had moved silently through the woods. She took the most non-noise making path as she could. A few leaves and twigs may have been crushed, but Niki was unsure. She thought that she heard Rimmon fighting with dagger. By the time that Rimmon had gotten her dagger, Niki was standing in the middle of the clearing. She had gotten a little hungry, and decided to take a break to eat. When Rimmon looked at where Niki had been standing a moment before, Niki thought she saw a little bit of annoyance flash on the girls face. Niki cleared her thought. To make her spot known, of course. Niki then said-"You hungry at all? I have some raw meat here, if you want any. I figured we let ourselves rest for a moment..." Said Niki. She said this even though she was perfectly fine the way she is. Her chest wasn't even moving up and down fast. Yet, Niki sat there. She held out a piece of meat for Rimmon, as she ate her own. This was where Rimmons test on knowledge about strangers come in. Now, if the girl knows anything about what strangers are capable, she should take the meat with cation. If Niki wanted, she could have poisoned the meat. Not that Niki had poison. The closest thing that Niki had to that was some odd tasting water. It might not be the same thing, but it would get the idea across. "So, tell me about yourself. We haven't gotten a chance to talk yet... |

She ignored the returned remark, thinking it was funny that she couldn’t think of a comeback of her own. She had indeed gotten a bit annoyed when she saw Niki had moved from her position. She looked around after getting her dagger, jumping and pivoting on one foot when she heard Niki clear her throat. “I’m not hungry.” She snapped, finding it gross that this demon actually ate raw meat. The demon child still had a lot of energy in her, and she had a lot to waste as well. “I don’t need any rest.” She said, moving her dagger to hold it in several different ways until she found one way that was more comfortable. The only way she seemed to like holding it, was in her right hand with the blade facing behind her. She had heard that it was harder for others to steal her dagger away if she held it like that. She stood at the edge of the clearing, watching Niki with a disgusted look on her face as she ate the raw meat. Rimmon had been raised on cooked meat of all sorts, so she couldn’t even imagine what raw meat tasted like. Whether she might like it or not, she was determined to never find out. Then, the woman told her to talk about herself. Where would she even start? “What do you want to know?” she wondered, “Do you want me to tell you my life story, or a brief past, or what?” she asked, not really wanting to say anything about herself, but if it helped toward the training, then she didn’t mind as much. She was just uncomfortable talking about herself because it always got her into trouble. Her life story was a long one, but they weren’t exactly in a rush for anything... |
