| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The mad fiend uttered a low chuckle at the girl’s words, stopping suddenly, his figure shadowed in the mist as he stood before her, his wicked insanity-filled eyes aiming to pierce through the mist to his victim. With a single arm and as easy as a child would with a stick, he lifted the massive blade and rested it on his shoulder. “Life…?” He inquired rhetorically, taking in a deep breath, one loud enough for her to hear as he looked her sword over, her posture with it. Horo wasn’t any sort of trained fighter with a blade, but even he could tell that she had not seen much use with that blade she carried. It was nothing but a game… That was it wasn’t it? Ha! The girl was now playing her own game, her own rules. Clever… “What life is there for you? Do you think I am ignorant to the stench of death? To the odor of blood?” He asked further, again, rhetorically. “You reek of one, but not nearly as much for the other.” He seemed to use an almost accusing tone as he pointed at the girl with his massive blade, single-handedly before he dropped it and began to spin it by the white cloth tied around the handle. “You’re covered in death… but the amount of blood which comes from you… Heh.” He broke into a short-lived yet high and madness-filled laughter, “Even if I allow you to leave. You will be hard-pressed for survival… Do you know the fear my blade brings? The slightest wound brings about its magic… The taste of a being drives it wild, screaming into my ears for more. It turns the one who is cut to mere dust unless healed… And how long can you try and avoid Mayuri’s bite before you turn to ash? How long before I merely tire of this game and end you with the same ease I did your acclaimed sister? Most things can die with the same certain wounds… I know how to bring about this end… Though, I’ll give you a trick to aid with your survival until you might actually run from my gaze… Keep me entertained, like you did when you changed our little game… You’ll survive longer that way.” He chuckled before launching his blade at her, quickly pulling back on the cloth when it would pierce her flesh so that it might return to his pale hand. |

She was covered in death? She couldn’t help but wonder if this was one of his weird sayings to tell her that she was about to die, or if he could tell she was undead. She had no way of telling what was going through his head, so she listened carefully when he spoke. So if that blade cut her, she’d turn to dust. Too bad she didn’t know any healing spells. She had no idea how to keep the games going to keep him ‘entertained’, but no matter how she looked at it, he was determined that she would die one way or another. She preferred it to be ‘another’, but surely they would see who the real winner would be in the next few minutes. She felt really disgusted when he spoke about his blade thirsting for death, and about how his blade screams into his ears for more. She didn’t get how that was even possible, but given his state of mind, she easily guessed that anything could be possible. With that conclusion, she could have figured it was worth sticking around and playing games, but at the same time, she just wanted to make a run for it. When he launched his blade at her again, she raised her sword, stepping to the side and hitting the blade with hers as she pushed it away, preventing it from touching her. Adrenaline was pumping through her like she never imagined it could as she watched the blade retreat back to its master. She was certain to get some practice with her sword now. All she did was watch him with wide eyes. For now, she wouldn't be able to will herself into turning her back to him. She was almost certain of death if she turned her back and ran, but she heard somewhere that the worst way for someone to kill another was to stab them in the back. There was something about shooting or stabbing someone in the backside that made it shameful. |

An amused scoff came from the fiend’s mouth as the girl managed to knock his lame toss aside; maybe she was finally starting to figure it out. That meant it was time to start playing again. Though with what looked like a sudden burst of confidence to the situation, or even perhaps a bestial urge that emerged from being cornered without real hope of escape, either way it didn’t matter, all that mattered, all the would matter, would be to see if he decided to let this girl go… probably not, but stranger things were known to happen. Mayuri’s handle landed squarely in the demon’s white hand before the dull side was rested on his shoulder. He stood, silently for a moment, thinking of what to do as he watched the girl, though hearing no response to his words. Was she getting serious? Too fun… The wicked grin on Ogichi’s face grew slightly as he raised his massive blade into the air with ease, balancing it in one hand as he brought the other in front of him. A single-handed stance, he wasn’t even going to increase his power, the girl couldn’t be powerful enough to provoke him into that. “I’ll tell you what… If you want free, if you want to live from the bite of Mayuri, I’ll let you go… but only if you can manage to cut me. It sounds easy, doesn’t it?” He chuckled tauntingly as he pointed the massive blade at her while he gripped his letifer blade’s handle with both hand, feigning to use a generally sensible stance, but it was more in mock of his enemy. Within a moment he pushed off of the ground, launching himself forward, his left hand slipped intentionally from Mayuri’s handle as he brought the massive weapon down on the girl’s location, not even using his full strength, just enough to knock her weapon out of the way so he might be able to deliver a swift kick to her abdomen. |

The bite of Mayuri. Geez, this guy was really getting weird. “Only if I manage to cut you? Are you serious?” she raised an eyebrow, but soon put her facial expression back to serious when he pointed his blade at her again. This was really growing to be a bit annoying. He was obviously way too strong for her to have a fair chance at fighting back. "Your ego needs to get cut." she muttered, not caring if he heard her. She leapt out of the way of his attack, her vampire speed kicking in now. He managed to hit her sword, but luckily she was quick enough and strong enough (thanks to her being part dragon) to jump away with her own sword still in hand. It was only in her right hand now, but she swung at him in an attempt for him to back off. She kept swinging her sword at him, hoping to slice his leg or his arm or something so that she could walk away from this fight. She continuously paid attention to the whereabouts of his blade, not sure if she’d be able to dodge his attacks, but at least she’d see them coming. It was something to believe in, at least. Perhaps it was a weak chance to believe in, but she had to have hoped that she’d be able to cut him. When she kept missing, she started stepping closer to him with every swing of her sword. There was already too much talk going on, so she decided to lessen the amount of talking for now. |
