| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

He stared at her with a mouth agape. For so long, it had taken Rothardan to come to grips with her death but here she stood. He could hear her breathe, see the sweat glisten down her limbs, smell the lavender upon her hair. If this was a dream, he hoped he would never awake. He didn't care if it was a trick of a demon or an illusion of some sort. He didn't want this moment to end. She was alive... Enelya was alive! A few moments before... Ever since Taras had been destroyed, crime had been up. Bandits and thieves had been preying on the homeless in a frenzy. The Taras Guard had suffered severe losses and were a handful of what they used to be. The Taras Guard used to be the fighting force of Imythess, an unstoppable army that could topple anything. Now there were barely a dozen left in the guard. Most had quit on that day, depressed that their city had fallen and their lives destroyed. But Rothardan had not quit, he vowed to keep on fighting for those who had fallen. Some bandits had tried to raid the camp that was full of survivors. Rothardan had defended the camp and as a result, most of the bandits were now on the floor either unconscious or trying to stem the blood from their cuts. One bandit had fled on horseback, and the paladin was giving chase. The bandit had fled to Norwood, going deep into the centre of the forest. The trees here drew closer and it wasn't safe to proceed on horseback. Rothardan dismounted his horse and began to trek into the woods. Rothardan drew his blade, the light emitting from it reflected off his plate armour and shone throughout the forest. "Surrender now," Rothardan shouted into the forest, "You will face Justice before me, it's only a matter of time..." |

After years of travel, all Enelya wanted to do was be home in her forest. There was so much pain and anguish outside of her beloved bowers of oak and willows by the river that Enelya was exhausted. More times than not she could feel her heart swell up with the hurting around her that it was usually just too much to bear. She needed a vacation, and she needed to be home. So, there she was, walking along the branches, high in the canopy of Norwood Forest. There was a delightful breeze, and the summer was just starting to cease it's uncomfortable heat. Her long lavender hair was almost past her behind, with sticks and flowers entangled in it as always. The thin frame twisted and turned through the branches as if she were a branch, or even the wind herself. She wore a simple, strapless navy blue dress that covered her from bust to knee. Without shoes, of course, Enelya could feel the Earth shift beneath her toes. Then, she heard a shout, echoing through the forest, the sound bouncing off the trees and reaching her ears. She halted her run, her hair falling over her shoulders. She... she knew that voice from a lifetime ago. She resumed her run, trying to track down the voice as the forest guided her. Tears began to weld in her eyes. Could it be? And when she stopped, the gleaming armor of her beloved shone up into the canopy. Enelya collapsed against the trunk, squeezing it so. How could she bear that face? That face that she had loved for so long before her death. He had even seen her in her death... and now... they had been united once again. Enelya wiped her eyes and tried to make herself presentable. She tugged a few sticks out of her hair, with many more still remaining. She tried to wash away the smudges of dirt on her arms and legs, but it was useless. She was a mess, and there was the love of her life standing beneath her on the forest floor. His body looked tense, as if he were battling someone... The trees whispered about an intruder. She bit her lip. She was obligated to protect her forest before pursing any kind of love interest. She climbed through many more trees, leaving her love behind as she searched for the bandit. When she finally found him, he was getting a drink of water, hiding among some reeds. Enelya's eyes turned to slits as she slid down the trunk of the tree and crawled towards the bandit. On her hands and knees she was quiet as death itself, knowing it a time or two. Enelya shoved her hands into the dirt, and the reeds came alive, and constricted the bandit. She stood on her own two feet and growled at the bandit. "Never again will you dare to seek sanctuary in my forest." A message was carried in the wind to Rothardan, telling him where the bandit he sought was held captive...along with someone else. |

Rothardan heard a shout come from the north and rushed to its source. It was the bandit and something had attacked him, probably a grizzly bear that he had come across. "Never again will you dare to seek sanctuary in my forest." That voice... Rothardan recognised that voice from what seemed like a whole life time ago. No, it couldn't be... it was a trick of the mind. Rothardan shook his head free of any distractions and kept his mind on the task. Concentrate, he thought to himself. As he carefully walked towards the source of the shout, Rothardan could see someone past the trees who was standing over someone wrapped in what looked like reeds. It looked like someone had already caught the bandit for Roth, saving the paladin unnecessary bloodshed. As he got closer, Rothardan's eyes opened wide. The person who had captured the bandit was a woman who had a slender body and skin that a slight tinge of leaf green. She had silky hair that was covered in twigs and leaves, but the paladin didn't care about that, for he had dropped his sword in shock as he recognised this person. No, it had to be a trick, she was dead. Rothardan saw it happen, saw how she was wiped from existence by a power unbeknownst to even the Gods. And yet, here she stood... alive and breathing. Rothardan unbuckled his helm and threw it to the ground so he could gaze upon his lost love with his own eyes. |

The reeds constricted the bandit, making him squirm in the little room that he had. She had a new anger welling up inside of her that she had never known before. How dare this criminal use her beloved trees for shelter! This was a place of good and serenity, and should never be used for the wrong causes. She looked into his eyes and saw a deadness in them. He didn't care. And he didn't understand what he was doing, either. How could he? No one could hear the forest like she could, nor could they feel the life coursing through the roots, the veins of the Earth beneath them. Something heavy hit the ground. Enelya turned around quickly, her eyes instantly swelling with tears. Her heart fell to her stomach as her hands covered her mouth. Her long hair draped over her shoulders, soft fabric dressing the rest of her body. Enelya did not dare move - what if he was really a dream? All she could do was cry. What would it feel like to be in his arms again? It had been so long... Would it feel foreign or like it was? She was almost too afraid to want to find out, for the fear that it wouldn't feel natural anymore. She was scared to death that it wouldn't feel like love anymore. "Rothardan.." She barely breathed. |

Roth had dreamt of this moment for so long and didn't want it to end. He had seen Enelya perish with his own eyes and not a day went by when he felt a pang of pain in his heart because of this. Even though he had found solace with Veronna, he never truly learnt to move on. But here she was, in the flesh, standing there as if she had never left the world. A wind blew towards him, carrying the scent of fresh grass and a hint of lavender towards his nostrils. Rothardan breathed in and savoured the smell, remembering the many happy memories it came with. He could feel himself move closer (though he couldn't feel how his legs were moving due to the shock he was in) until he was close enough to touch her. The paladin felt the sword drop from his hands then he felt his helm slip to the ground. He came forward once more and placed his arms around Enelya, hoping she wouldn't pull away. He needed this so much, even if it were a trick of some sort, he needed to feel her warm skin and smell her hair. He had wanted this for so long... more than anything in the world. |

Enelya was frozen. Paralyzed by the utter shock of seeing someone from a lifetime ago. Tears fell into the creases of her mouth, the salt resting on her tongue. Enelya closed her eyes, shut them tight, if Rothardan was still there, then it had to be real... How many times had she dreamed about him? Then, before she knew it, his arms were around her; his strong arms wrapping her up into a safe embrace that made her feel like she was home. The Plant Lady's hands dropped from her mouth, and slid softly against Roth's rough cheeks, scruffy with the start of a beard. She tried a smile, but her eyes with cloudy with tears, and she could only continue her hands so that her arms were around Rothardan's neck. "I can't believe it," she whispered, clinging to him as if he would disappear right before her. What if that happened? What if when she turned to him, he was gone and the only person there was that forsaken bandit caught in the reeds? Enelya couldn't bare it. She could only hold Rothardan so close that she could hear his heart beat, and the breath of air being captured and released by his lungs. The life circulating through his veins... Enelya kissed his cheek softly. "I do not have the words to tell you how much I've missed you..." |

For what seemed like forever the two of them held each other in their arms. Roth didn't speak, he didn't have too, because no-words could describe how he felt about this moment. It was one he had dreamt of for so long and now the moment was finally here. Enelya broke the silence when she kissed Roth's cheek and said "I do not have the words to tell you how much I've missed you..." Rothardan smiled and stroked Enelya's lavander smelling hair, not wanting this moment to end. And then a million questions entered his head. How was this possible? Where had she been? What happened to her? But now was the not the time for questions. Just a little longer... that's all he wanted... just a little longer... The sounds of hooves came from behind them. It was one of the city guard, checking on the scene. "Sir, I just..." The guard stopped as he looked at Rothardan and Enelya with confusion. Rothardan didn't turn around, he couldn't bare to not look at anyone apart from his love, and gave his instructions. "Soldier, please take this criminal and keep him under guard until my return." Without a word, the soldier picked up his prisoner and soon rode off. Leaving only the two of them. Now, thought the paladin, I have to ask my questions now.. . "Enelya... what happened? I saw what happened to you after the attack... Rothardan couldn't bring to say "he had seen that she had died", especially since it was apparently untrue. Enelya had been hypnotized by the touch of Rothardan's fingertips weaving their way through her hair. She closed her eyes, becoming lost in his musky scent. The smell of the forest was saturated into his hair, with a little bit of his man sweat wafting through the air. Enelya liked it, even if it wasn't the most pleasant smell. It was Rothardan, and she loved everything about him. The young woman was a little startled when the soldier approached them, looking to Roth for some comfort. When he responded with ease and recognition, she could feel her muscles relaxing in his embrace. She glared at the thief as he rode off with one of Roth's soldiers. He would not dare return to her forest. "Enelya... what happened? I saw what happened to you after the attack..." The plant lady bit her lip, resting her hands lightly on Rothardan's chest. She looked up into his warm eyes, and shook her head softly. "The forest needed me, I guess. It's something they've gotten a habit of doing... Bringing me back..." Enelya's lavender eyes welled with tears, as she looked away from her lost love. She'd perished and returned to this world so many times, it was almost too much to bear. How many times were they going to replant her? It was only natural for a flower to wilt and re-bloom, but how many times can one that resides in a human form handle such a thing? |
