Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. It was cold and dark outside, the howling wind was starting to pick up even more makeing it a dangerous night to be wandering around. The dim street lights shone a faint glow on the walk ways in the city, the wind blowing leaves and trash across its coble stone path. Many of the shops had closed up, people already on their way into the realm of dreams. But one man was still awake, alive to the world at such a late hour. Chaos let out a great yawn as he burst through the door to the purple lantern. He was tired and cold, his hair wind swept and even had a few leaves caught in it. Clenching his fist he slammed the wooden door and walked over to one of the dark corners of the tavern. The barmaid, a bubbly imp, walked over and asked if he needed anything. With a simple nod chaos waved the woman away. He was broke again and had no money for food or even a place to stay. His plan was to camp out in the bar and hope no one cared if he slept in the corner. As for food he would have to wait. The tavern was just about empty, save for the workers and a tired looking wizard in the center. He was huanced over a stack of books with a silver golbet full of unknown liqued. Chaos glared then looked away, not even having the strength to care what a man like him was doing in balefire. |

Niki was wondering around Balefire, looking for some where to stay.... Niki had heard about Balefire from a friend in the old days of Taras, but she never bothered to come this way. Weathered because of what she had to do, or because she was tired, or sick... Or just because she didn't want to... Niki was wearing a black elbow length blank shirt with long, dark blue flaring jeans... She was also wearing six inch dark purple heels. Niki didn't know anything about Imythess. She was new to the whole idea that there where others in this universe that where like her... If I had only known sooner... that would explain why I look different from my parents!! Oh well... Hey look! Is it a bar? The Purple Lantern? What is this? Thought Niki as she walked done the street. She walked into the bar and took a set near the corner, near a man... She looked at him as the barmaid got her a drink... "Hello..." Niki hadn't talked to anyone in a long time and didn't if was a smart move, but she didn't anyways! |

The inn stayed quiet for most of the night, not much happining. The only noise that could be heard was the random clanging of dishes and the rhytmic flutter of pages as the wizard read. It was hard to fall asleep, even though he was exhausted and so tired. He tried many things, like laying his face on the table, or laying back in the chair, but he decided to just sit their after the chair almost tipped on him. His stomache gave a light rumble, but he was broke and had no way of paying for food. His mind kept moving to the thought of attacking the wizard and feasting on his flesh. His dark red eyes blinked sleep out of them, his skin finally warm, the hint of cold left from his body. The hunger was starting to get so unbearable that he was about to just go take a chunk out of the man when a voice called out to him. At first he did not see anyone who might have said it, but after turning around he saw a female sitting at the next table. He did not see her walk in, but if he did he would have noticed right away. For she did not look like most women. She had dark skin, and even darker eyes. Her hair was unique and she held a sense about herself that intrigued Chaos. Well hello there. Didnt see you walk in. Chaos was not one to be friendly and kind to people, exspecially strangers. And he never had a woman approch him with out wanting to kill him. So the fact that this woman, a very attractive appealing one at that, gave him the time of day was a very good sign. Mine name is Chaos. May i bothering asking what your lovely name might be? |

Niki hadn't noticed till then that that the man looked very tired, and hungry. The way that he talked to Niki showed more then she would have like for the first "meet and greet", to put it... How odd men are when the see me for the first time... Thought Niki. At this thought, she shrugged and thought about that man's way of speaking... "Niki... Thank you. Chaos, did you say? That is a very... Interesting name you have. Did you find it yourself? Not be rude of anything!" She noticed that she had been rambling a little and stopped herself. But before she could hold it back, Niki giggled just the littlest bit, but it could be noticed. The wizard heard Niki's giggle and looked over, but Niki didn't like it when people stared at her when she did things, and glared back it him... He looked back to his book, but Niki could tell that he would be listening to what she and Chaos talked about. So she asked "Would it be okay if I seat next to you... I don't like it when people over hear my conversations... " Niki moved her head just a little so that she was sure that Chaos got that she was talking about the wizard. Before waiting a reply, Niki moved so that she was seating with a seat between her a Chaos. "Would you something to eat or drink... I wouldn't mind paying!" |

It was odd, the smile on his face would not go away, not like he wanted it to anyway. Something about Niki made him feel ok, like it was cool to be a demon and be himself. But she was a stranger, a woman he just met after all. For all he knew she could be a blood thirsty killer like him, with no heart or compassion. She talked quicker than he would have liked at such a late hour, but it did not bother him like it would have if it where someone else. Then she did something unexpected. Slipping from her seat and into one at his table, trying to avert her conversation away from listining ears. Chaos shifted his eyes to the wizard, then back to niki. [ I know what you mean, damn wizard has been sitting there all night, i wouldnt be surprised if he tried anything funny. He tried to seem alert and happy, when he was actually tired out of his mind. But then she asked him a question he knew not the answer to. Umm..well i am incredibly hungery, but theres not way i can bother you to pay. Suddenly chaos felt ashamed. Most, no all, times chaos would accept money or food before it was even given to him, but now he was declining, something that worried him inside. Im sorry Niki, but im not really a people person. If you havnt noticed im a big scary demon, Most people wanna avoid me, or stick my head on a stake. Its kinda rare that someone sits and holds a conversation with me. |

As she looked, Niki noticed that Chaos was a bit on the bigger side... But she didn't care... He could be the biggest, baddest thing that ever lived, and she wouldn't care! He seemed like a nice guy to her... Someone that she would like to get to know better... "You think that your being that big is going to scare me off? I'm not exactly the smallest bit-'gale' there is. I am 6'5", without the heels... Where I have leaved my hole live, I am the same as you... When you live as someone who doesn't know what the heck you are, loves heels that make you the tallest person in your 'family' and the fact that I am not a skinny little piece of sh-crap doesn't through you off?" and that is how Niki rolls... You point something out about yourself that you don't like, and she well point out many things about herself that she thinks are annoying... or things that go with the conversation that she is proud of! "So, what would you like...? I am thinking of just getting a sandwich..." said Niki. And she was serious, too. She would get anything for Chaos... All, but get shorter shoes... ((Now, if that doesn't through off Chaos, I don't know what well)) |

So she was a talker, someone who enjoyed to spill words out, even if the listner was not one to hear of it. But Chaos did not mind her going on about herself. It was actually fun to hear everything Niki had to say about herself. He had not really noticed but she was pretty tall for a woman, and looked as if she could smash your face in with a swing of the fist. Chaos would not say anything to her about it, but these were great qualities, for someone he was attracted to that is. Well i dont think those are very bad traits myself. As far as i go id much rather have a big strong woman who could cleave a few heads than a tiny frail one who the wind could snap. But thats just me, not like i get many options at woman anyway. Chaos aloud a light chuckle to escape his mouth. He tried to hide it but that chuckle was filled with sorrow and sadness. Well if your offering, i could go for a thigh of venison, my tum tum has been begging for that of late. And i promise niki, ill return the payment as soon as i can. Gold is hard to come by these days. |

He talked... about as much she did when she rambled... But that isn't a bad in someone who can beat the snout of as soon as they are done talking to ya... Pain... something that we all need in our lives! Thought Niki... He had just about everything that Niki needed in a guy... He was big, strong, tall... ish? There was thing that was messing... Some information. But what? She didn't know... She was sure that he hadn't spilled all his guts... That isn't something you do when you talk to someone who you just met at the bar that night. Not if you are smart... ~ ~ ~ They where done eating and where sitting at the table when a thought came across Niki's mind. "Hey, do you know any good places to stay the night? I haven't been here very long, and don't know the area very well... I have only been here...about as long we have been talking, to be honest... " As she said this, Niki blushed a little. She wouldn't normally have said something like, had she not felt so comfortable with Chaos. If he had been some man off the street, she would have just asked if there any place to stay, if that. It was then that Niki noticed that there where some leaves in Chaos' hair... It had been pretty windy out there when she had come in, so she figured that he had just been out there for a while, trying to find some where good to get something to drink... Just then, she remembered that he hadn't a drink when she walked in... Niki wouldn't worry about it to much right now. He seemed like a good man, someone who would get along very well Niki, just as long as she got to keep her last name... She really like her last name. The one thing that she wouldn't tell people that she was proud of. And to think that if I hadn't grown with who I did, I wouldn't have it? There is something good to say about the life I left... "Which reminds me, do you have anywhere to go to tonight?" |

The meal was fair enough, tasty and fulfilling to his hunger. He had not had a meal like that in a few weeks. He tried to eat like a proper man, but he was never raised proper or had any manners. So food slopped around his plate, spilling on the table and covering his face. Every now and then he would try and clean up himself, not wanting to embarress the new comer he sat with. It was the first time in his life that he actually cared what someone thought about him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After they had finished off thei rmeals, and the bar maid took their dish away, Niki began asking chaos if there was anywhere nice to stay. Apparently the weather outside had gotten to her just as much as it did him, the signs still left on his cloths and body. But they were on either sides when it came to balefire. For Niki mentioned she was knew to the area, but Chaos knew this place better than himself. Well the nicest place, and safest would be right here in the Purple Lantern. Any where else will be raggy and full of unfriendly folk. Chao shad stayed here many a time and knew if you chose any place to stay in balefire, the inn upstairs would be best. It wasnt that chaos was uncomfortable, its just he was not use to friendly conversations with other people, exspecialy a woman such as Niki. When he asked where he was staying tonight, he was kind of hesitant to answer. The truth was he had no where to stay, his only option was either to sleep here in the bar or out on the streets. Honestly i dont have anywhere to stay. No home and no money to by a room with. So my plan was to just pass out here in the tavern and hope no one messes with me.He felt kind of sad telling her this. He didn twanna seem any less ruthless than he was, but he could not control the outcome of everything, yet. |

Niki was like Chaos in many ways... they both at like they didn't have any manners... Niki made a mess of eating, but it wasn't anything like Chaos... ~ ~ ~ No where to stay, in this type of weather?! Niki wouldn't let Chaos sleep in the streets or in a tavern with a loco-coco wizard... Just then, Niki had a thought cross her mind. "What if I paid...? I don't know if the barmaid would let me do it, but I'll pay for you to have a room tonight... there is no need to repay me, for the room." said Niki as she noticed Chaos start to say "no need" or something like that. She would not let something like that happen to him. Not if it meant bending over backwards for him to have somewhere to sleep. She would sleep on the floor is she had to! "Come on, lets go get you a room!" said Niki. She grabbed Chaos' hand and started to pull him to the bar, to ask the barmaid how to get a room... One for him, one for her. She wasn't that stupid! ~ ~ ~ As she got to the rooms, she noticed that the barmaid had, Oh-so-cleverly put them right in front of each other... Now I have something to look forward to seeing in the morning! Thought Niki. It was then that she released what had been nagging at the moment that she saw Chaos... "I guess I'll see you in the morning?" Niki didn't really want this to be the last time that they see each other, and if it was, she wanted to make sure that it lasted as long as she could make it last... |

It could not be helped, Niki was just as stubborn as he was. No matter how hard he could have insisted he knew there was no way he was going to win. So he just gave in. She offered to buy a room for him, a offer he would not accept. Theres no way the demon of chaos could be seen taking charity from a woman. But no matter how hard he tried, it was useless. Expecially after she grabbed his hand and basically dragged him to the bar counter. Both the bar maid and the reading wizard stopped to give a strange look at the duo. It was a odd enough sight on the less. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As they neared the room chaos could see the numbers on the oak wooden doors. His was number six, and Niki's was number seven, directly across from his room. The hall was not a long one, with about twenty or so rooms. The dark lavender carpet that covered the hall way was most likely to be in the room also, a color that Chaos liked. As they approched the room chaos stopped, turning to face Niki. Well you have a good night Niki. Thanks for the dinner He turned and placed his hand on the brass door nob, gently turning it and hearing the click of the lock. As he pushed in the door he stopped, turning to look at Niki once more. Ill be right in here if you need any badies beat to death. And with a smile he turned into his room. That night was different than most. He layed on his back facing the ceiling, still wearing all his equpiment save for his giant cutter, which now lay by the door. Many thoughts and memories flooded his mind. He was so lost and confused that he could no teven go to sleep. But one thing was for sure, He wished Niki would be there the next morning. |

((Doing this topic is weird for me, cuz i know no one who is like either, Chaos, nor Niki... Anyways, on with the topic)) As Chaos went into his room, Niki smiled, most likely the biggest smile she would have on her face, the rest of her live... Niki hit her head against the back of the door for a few minutes, in order to try and get her thoughts straight... But that didn't work... So, Niki went to the desk, that had been put in the room. If I write done my thoughts...??? Thought Niki. She didn't think that it would work, but she did it anyways... {in Maryland Text} "Dear Chaos, I don't know how to do this, but, here goes nothing! I have never felt this way about any guy, person, THING in my life. I don't know if you feel the same way as I, but I wanted you to know... I...I love you... You are just the type of guy that I am looking for in my life. You are strong, taller then most guys, and, it may be hard to believe (at least to me) but have been the nicest to me! I hope, that even if you don't Reply through note/letter/what ever you want to call this... Yours truly, Niki Iceblood" wrote Niki... Now, the problem was, should she send it or not... As she opened her bedroom door, Niki was having second thoughts about this, but she slid it under Chaos' door, and knocked. She then ran to her door, closed it, and sat done right behind it... His thoughts were spinning faster and faster, his mind losing itself in thought. After what seemed like several hours chaos began to feel a deep sleep over him. His eyes began to flutter and his mucles relaxed, taking a deep breath he closed his eyes. Only to be woken suddenly by a quick knocking on the door. Chaos shot up, his eyes flashing open and his hand instantly grabbing his dagger. The metal flew into the air, his eyes focused on the door. He hopped out of bed and walked to the door, keeping his blade drawn. He was not expecting what he found. As he slide the dagger back in its resting place Chaos picked up the folded note that lay just in his room. About a fourth of it was still under the door, meaning someone had quickly slide it under and ran. His big bulky hands unfolded it and read its contents. "Dear Chaos, I don't know how to do this, but, here goes nothing! I have never felt this way about any guy, person, THING in my life. I don't know if you feel the same way as I, but I wanted you to know... I...I love you... You are just the type of guy that I am looking for in my life. You are strong, taller then most guys, and, it may be hard to believe (at least to me) but have been the nicest to me! I hope, that even if you don't share feel the same way, that we can still be friends... not let this be a life block for us!! Reply through note/letter/what ever you want to call this... Yours truly, Niki Iceblood" Chaos was motionless, no breath or movement escaped his body. He was unsure how to react. A part of him wanted to sit and think about the words, another part wanted to burn the note to a firey crisp. After minuets of just standing there he turned and looked out the window. The wind was still blowing and the moon still hung over head. It was true he had never felt like this about anyone before. But was it love? He had never loved anyone, to him love was killing things and watching others grieve and suffer. Did he really have a heart? With a deep breath he pulled open his door and walked over to Niki's. Lighty tapping on the door incase she had already fallen asleep. But then he gave it a good knock, realizing he could not wait till the morning to respond. Now the only problem was what was his response? |

As she passed, Niki heard a knock on her door. First light, like a weak women trying to knock heard to wake her up...Weak people... they don't deserve to live in this world... Then there where one or two heard knocks... "Crap What is he doing?!" Niki said quietly... She decided to act like she had been woken up, sure that it was Chaos... "Who is and what do you want?" said Niki in the best "you just woke me up!" voice she could muster... It was a little shaky though... Enough to be noticed. She was still up passing, but as soon as she said that, she thought that it would be weird if you where just woken up, standing up, passing. So, she ran to her bed, and sat on the edge of it... |

Chaos could hear shuffling around and moving about, like someone was trying to get from some where else rather quickly. He was not sure if it was Niki or if he was just hearing odd sounds of the night. He was about to give up and head back to bed when a quiet raspy voice trailed through the door. Her voice sounded sleepy. groggy from her wake. This made Chaos feel bad. Umm...Sorry i was not aware you were asleep. If its ok ill just talk to you about it in the morning. He stayed there for a few seconds, pressing his face agaisnt the door in case she spoke again. He did not want to miss anything, but was sure he had just pissed her off. Curseing under his breath he turned and leaned his back against the wall next to her door. |
