| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

'Thank god, it's night' The thought was followed by the same words as he gazed at the billions of flickering lights that tried to shed a little light into the darkness. He had been walking through the woods for quite some time now in search of one of the old tombs he had set out to find. It had been hours since the last sign of life and only the occassional forest rat had disturbed his peacefull thinking. The trees had started to grow thicker and the ground felt more like a swamp then a real forest, a sign that atleast showed him he was heading in the right direction. His feet were sometimes sucked into the damp earth, requiring some strength to be pulled out while trying to dodge branches and the like in the meanwhile, making the whole process a tireing one. A few more minutes past before he walked into a small clearing, just big enough to fit one or two people and to start a small fire. His legs had started to nag in the past hour, telling him it was time to stop and atleast sit down for a while and rest his body before continueing. It was the wisest thing to do anyway, the tomb he was looking for was a fairly large one, most of it build underground with only a single entrance, a stairs leading underground. And eventhough he wouln't have a problem finding the entrance there was something else that bothered him. He knew that this deep into the woods all kinds of creatures lived which were not particularly favorable to him coming their way. After he got a fire started, wich had taken him a while because of the annoying lack of dry firewood around these parts, he rolled up his cloak and layed it beneath his head. Quickly sleep overcame him, the tiredness finally kicking in after a long day of walking. He really hadn't understood just how tired he had actually been, sleep came like a thief in the night and took him into endless dreams. Although, endless? It did not take to long before the sound of a twig snapping filled his ear, maybe it was not the most disturbing sound in a forest, that he had to give, but this was a forced sound. A sound out of place in a relatively quiet forest, a few seconds he remained stil on the moist ground, listening to his surroundings. Shrugging it off as a wild boar or something of the likes he turned himself over and tried to continue his sleep. Though this time he did not even get the chance to let his eyes close themselves. Another twig snapped, though this time closer to the little camp he had made. Now he was fully awake, the sound of footsteps was gently getting closer to him and to be honest it made him just a little bit nervous. Why on earth would someone go all the way here to this remote place, there was nothing to be found, atleast, not for people who didn't know what to look for. These were the times he was glad he had regained atleast one of his powers as a regent, it really came in handy in times like these. A whisper of demonic language escaped his lips before his body exploded into a quick disappearing black smoke, leaving only the rolled up cloak on the ground. Luckily it didn't make allot noize, he'dd hate for his nightly visitor to be warned. In the same manner his body reappeared, only now on the branch of a tree a few feet above, his body blending with the nightly darkness, the glow from his eyes and the demonic glyphs that covered his upper body fading away to only the most dim of lights. It all happened in a brief second and only made him more comfortable with the idea of the thick foliage surrounding him, making it almost impossible for anyone to have noticed him. He had no idea of this persons intensions, wether he or she was friendly to his kind or not, many factors were at play here and all of them would descide the outcome. Blood or conversation. He would notice once the other person had layed eyes on him, the look in peoples eyes usually gave away if they had a problem with demons or not, reason enough to make the kill. But first things first, the person had yet to enter the light of the fire, wich surely had been spotted by now and enter a range where he would be able to attack at the very instant if he felt the need for it. She felt pretty lucky to have this opportunity to explore the forest. It had been a huge curiosity sparker for her, and she finally got the chance to explore, but for some reason, shortly after entering the forest, it always felt like something was watching her. The young demonspawn was only feeling nervous in this thick darkness, with every new turn being a fear of going back the same way. So, she planted it into her mind that she would get to the other side of the forest, no matter what came across her path. She didn’t have much of a path to follow, but she thought she was pretty good at going straight. It always seemed to be a direction straight into trouble, but it was the only way she understood to go. There wasn’t any point in repeating your actions all the time. You’d never learn anything new. The child, only standing maybe three feet tall, with a few cat-like features, made her way through the forest, her eyes easily adapting to the darkness. She had grown up in darkness, so she was quite comfortable with it. There just seemed to be something about this forest that made her uneasy. As she continued deeper, she made it a goal to pay more attention to her surroundings and what she was stepping on. Who knew, there might be a rare herb somewhere in the forest that her master could put to good use. She was trying to walk as quietly and swiftly as she could, but soon, more and more twigs started snapping under her steps. The demon child didn’t weigh much at all, with her body still being so small, so the twigs that her steps were snapping weren’t very thick. It was amazing how much noise they made in this quiet forest, though. Just as she was contemplating on turning the other way to avoid the loud twigs, she noticed a fire just a few yards away. She walked toward it, but soon noticed that there wasn’t anybody there. “Hello?” she spoke quietly, but just loud enough for anybody close by to hear her. Somebody had left their cloak here, and it would be a shame to see somebody steal it. However, even if somebody were to come over to grab it, she wouldn’t be able to tell the difference if it was actually theirs or not. The light of the fire hurt her eyes a bit, just as her eyes were adjusted to the previous darkness she was walking through, so she avoided looking directly at the fire, looking around the fire instead. She did notice the cloak was neatly folded, so whoever had left it must have just been relaxing from the hard walk, going through all that swampy ground. She herself was a bit tired from it, but the adrenaline she felt now made her not mind it so much. “Is anybody here?” she asked, slowly taking a seat beside the fire to warm up as she kept looking around the area. She made sure to sit on the opposite side of the fire from where the cloak had been left, just in case its owner was really uptight about others touching their stuff. As she sat there, she started to wonder why they had left or hid in the first place. She was sure anybody could protect themselves from her. Even then, she was not much of a threat right now anyway. She took in a deep breath, carefully letting her eyes get used to the brightness of the fire. |
