Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Valens
No Avatar

A soft crunch of leaves echoed underneath Valens' leather shoes as he slowly crossed the majestic Norwood forest. Thick beams of sunlight filtered through the green canopy above, sending bright patches of light across the dense forest floor. The sound of life echoed all around Valens as he walked, the loud cricket chirp, the hoot of a song bird, the rustle of a fox. Valens was fascinated by the lively scene around him, but despite his ever increasing wonder, forced himself to stay on the lightly covered path. Valens was a travelling cleric, simply wandering across the massive landscape in hopes of helping others, and furthering his knowledge. Unlike the other priests and clerics at the temple he trained at, Valens felt a need to grow and explore.

Feeling trapped at the temple, he had left the temple as he reached manhood. He was desperate to explore, and make a name for himself through his deeds. It was human nature, to explore, to discover. Valens could not describe his urge, but the fellow clerics and priests understood and sadly watched him leave, but with high hopes. They knew Valens was not destined to stay in the stone monetary, he was a free spirit. He remembered the words of his favorite mentor, reminding him to ", let your spirit soar free like a bird in the clouds, always near the sun."

Valens' trip to the forest was almost spiritual, his solo journey to such a great distance appeared as a landmark. The Norwood forest was fabled for being so massive and expansive. Valens was eager to traverse the forest, and complete his goal of helping others with his good deeds. Another thing he could not explain about himself, along with his overwhelming urge to travel, was his desire to do good. He yearned for the phrase "thank you," from a complete stranger, followed by the gentle and loving smile that came afterwards. He hoped to help someone while travelling in the forest, maybe a lost merchant or sick adventurer. Or maybe someone who had been injured.

Before leaving, several of his closest friends had warned him of the dangerous areas around the world. One of these areas he remembered hearing was the fabled "Bandits Camp," right in the Norwood Forest. Allegedly, a whole group of bandits had made a permanent camp in the forest, as a base of operations. Some claimed they stole from the rich, while others said they murdered and stole. Valens shook his head gently, deciding not to jump to conclusions.

As Valens continued down the trail, he noticed something odd on the path ahead. The area had become slightly more filled with debris and leaves. The path was almost completely covered for about two feet before continuing on. Valens was unsure of what to make of the situation, and immediately shook the idea from his head, continuing onward. After a few steps across the leaf strewn area, the floor underneath him collapsed, sending him plummeting a few feet down into a dark whole. He let out a loud yelp, until he hit the bottom of the hole. His head banged against the tough side of the hole, sending him quickly towards unconsciousness.

The last words he heard before he completely blacked out was ", Hey Roy! Looks like we caught another fat pursed merchant in the trap! Tell the others at the camp! We're gonna have fun with this one..."
