Title: Studying

Myril - July 25, 2005 11:23 PM (GMT)
It was midafternoon. The city was full of people rushing back and forth, going from one shop to another. People were shouting to people they knew, and some children ran by rolling a wooden hoop in front of them, an old children's game that amused the adults until the hoop ran into them.
Alone in this busy world, Myril walked silently through the streets. She had never been to a city before, and the sights and smells and sounds captivated her. She watched everything, and listened to everything as she wove her way through the crowds. No one paid any attention to the girl clutching a small bag. They were much too busy.
Myril approached the steps of the Taras Library, and suddenly her face broke out into a beautiful smile. She felt as if she were coming home, even though she had never been there before in her life. She picked up her pace, and was almost running up the steps.
She pulled open the heavy doors, and entered the building. It was quiet, much more so than the busy world outside. She leaned against the door, and closed her eyes. She reveled in the silence for a moment, then made her way amongst the towering shelves. She couldn't wait to read all of them.
So engrossed was she in her exploration of the library that she didn't notice the person who had stepped out in front of her until she collided with them.
Her bad fell to the ground as she covered her mouth with her hands. She was so embarrassed. She reached down to pick up her bag.
"I'm s-s-sor-rry" she stammered.

Lilith - July 25, 2005 11:44 PM (GMT)
Lilith was minding her own business when her eyes caught sight of a woman nearly running into the Taras Library. Curious, she walked towards the library and walked inside. She nodded towards the librarian and flashed a smile. She had lost sight of the woman and was walking towards the reading section when she bumped into someone. She had knocked a bag out of the woman’s hand. The woman quickly started to apologize and Lilith waved a hand in front of her as if to say no need. “Really, it’s my fault for walking out in front of you. Here let me give you a hand.”

She outstretched her hand for the woman to grasp. Lilith realized it was the same woman she had been curious about. She wondered why the lady was in such a rush to be inside the old library. It was covered in dust and cobwebs. The librarian didn’t take care of it as she should and that irritated Lilith. The faerie loved to read especially about different races of people. Humans were the most interesting race because of their emotions. They seemed to act according to their hearts instead of their minds. Faeries could feel as well, but they listened to the earth and made decisions accordingly. She smiled sweetly as she waited for the woman to accept her offered hand.

Myril - July 30, 2005 01:22 AM (GMT)
Myril clutched her bag to her chest, and reached out with a trembling hand. She grasped the strangers hand, and allowed herself to be pulled to her feet. She kept her gaze lowered, and tried not to stare at the creature before her.
She was beautiful, with her pale skin and long blue hair. The things that Myril found most facinating were the creature's wings. They were silvery, and shimmered in the light from the lamps. It must be a faery, she thought to herself. Myril had only read about faeries in books, and now that she was face to face with one, she didn't know how to act.
"F-forgive me," she stammered. "I d-did not s-see you th-there." Curse this stammer of mine, she thought to herself. What must this creature think of me?

Lilith - July 30, 2005 06:22 PM (GMT)
Lilith cocked her head to one side. The woman seemed to be avoiding her eyes. "Well you are quite welcome. In fact, I followed you in here because I saw you running in here and wondered what was so special in this old place. I'm afraid curiosity is one of my weak points." The woman seemed to be stammering because she was nervous. This made Lilith even more suspicious. Was she hiding something? "Anyways, my name is Lilith." She put out her hand again in hopes that the woman would shake it. They seemed to be the only ones in the library besides the librarian who was staring at them curiously. "How about we go over to that table where the eyes of the peeping librarian won't be upon us?" She began to move in the direction of the table in hopes that the human would follow her. Lilith had already used her spell detect alignment to make sure the girl was harmless.

Myril - July 31, 2005 11:58 PM (GMT)
Myril watched Lilith move over towards the tables at the back of the library. She walked very slowly behind her, trying to think of someway to explain her stuttering. It wasn't that she did it on purpose, she couldn't help it. She had had it since she was a little girl, and had never been able to overcome it. She was so ashamed, and so many people made fun of her, that she had thrown herself into the one thing that wouldn't laugh at her: books. They had provided her with company when everyone else had abandoned her. Where people scorned her and poked fun at her speech, books talked to her in a language few in her hometown could understand.
As she followed Lilith, she wished that there was a way she could explain it all to her. Myril didn't want this creature to laugh at her like everyone else did. More than anything in the world, she wanted a friend to talk to, who wouldn't laugh at her stutter, and would accept her.
She straightened her shoulders at this thought. She wouldn't make any friends slinking around in a dusty library by herself. She would try her best to explain everything to Lilith. Myril just hoped that Lilith would be patient with her.
