Title: Alone
Aberon - July 23, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
Aberon walked through the trees, brooding about how stupid he was. He had just recently tried to go to school, but it hadn't worked out. It wasn't possible for him to understand numbers and words as other people did. He wasn't smart enough to learn, either. Everyone hated him anyway, him being a half-dragon and all.
Reptile eyes, scaly torso, tail...who would want to be friends with such an outcast? It was awful. His arms, legs, and face were the only things that made him think it was okay.
He looked around and saw someone approaching.
"Hello?" He questioned tentatively.
((OOC: DANGIT! I have to go! I am SO sorry! I'll try and rp tomorrow!))
Stirling - July 23, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
The figure stopped and scanned through the greenish light with red eyes, peering intently at the one who had called out to him. His hand almost moved to the bow strapped to his back, but he thougt batter of it. Perhaps this one didn't want a fight.
Covering the distance quickly, he was soon right next to the reptillian being. "Ah, good morning, You wouldn't happen to know your way around, would you? I'm lost you see." He lied. Lieing was one of his specialties in life.
((It's okay, I can forgive you ;) See you later.))
Aberon - July 24, 2005 02:02 AM (GMT)
Aberon surveyed him quietly, then nodded.
"I know where I am," he said, then cocked his head. "But I don't think you are lost. You don't look lost. Forgive me for assuming, sir." Aberon said worriedly. The man before him was obviously not very old, but calling people sir always seemed to make them easier on people. Also, the man was evidently not lost. It was just the way he looked around or maybe something about his character, but Aberon could tell. Aberon bit his lip and winced in pain as his abnormally sharp teeth punctured his flesh.
"My name is Aberon." Aberon said proudly and looked at the drow, or what he assumed to be.
Stirling - July 24, 2005 05:06 AM (GMT)
Hmm, he might be catching on to me. He looks half dragon, and thier cunning beasts.
"Aberon, that's a nice name." Said the Half-Dorw, breaking the silence of his thoughts, "Mine is Stirling. Stirling Strych." He offered his hand and the Half-Dragon shook it. Now, I need to lie my way out of his assumtions.
"Don't apologise, I wont hold it against you." Sitrling moved over to a rock nearby and sat down, tired of standing. "In fact it's a trait too often lost in people. Pity." At least that bit was true.
For a few minutes he stared into the sky, thinking of a way out. "I look like I know where I am going because I try to look confident. If someone were watching and they saw me heading off with a purpose, maybe they will reconsider an attack for fear that I have firends nearby."
He gave a shrug and turned his eyes back down to Aberon, giveing a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "Now, if you don't mind if I ask, where would you be headed, and where are we now?"
Aberon - July 25, 2005 01:21 AM (GMT)
Aberon listened quietly to Stirling's excuses, not totally believing them. However, he decided not to tell Stirling that as he finished his lovely little speech.
"Well, I am here being stupid. Actually I am here thinking about being stupid. And I have no particular destination. Actually, I was almost hoping that I'd get lost in here somewhere. But, seeing as I have an annoying sense of directions, I know exactly where we are, and I bet you're glad to hear that. We are in the southern area of the forest. More to the southwest than straight south, but..." at this Aberon shrugged, "you don't need to know exactly exactly where we are, do ya?" Aberon grinned in a child-like way and began to survey the forest again, rather than look straight at Stirling.
Stirling - July 25, 2005 09:55 AM (GMT)
"No, not realy." Stirling scrunched up his face for a second, as if tring to remember something. After a few second he gave up, shrugging and looking out into the emerald light of the forest. Then he got a small brain wave. It might work, but he had to be careful in perfoming it.
"Hey, Aberon, have you any plans? I mean any plans at all, like for your life?" he began, scratching his ash-coloured neck as he spoke. " 'Cause a kid like you would have a lot of opertunities."
Aberon - July 26, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
"Opportunities?" Aberon asked slowly, trying to figure out what the drow was getting at. Probably something for him to do for the drow. Aberon resisted the urge to snort. He wasn't really in the mood for working for or with a drow. Especially a drow that lied. But...at least he could see what Stirling meant, first.
"What kind of opportunities are you suggesting, Stirling?" Aberon asked quietly. He scratched his arm absent-mindedly. Then he reached into his huge poskets and drew out a flask of water. He took a gulp and then looked back at Stirling.
Stirling - July 27, 2005 09:34 AM (GMT)
Stirling was about to say something about the oppertunities, but paused for a second. He was staring into the kid's eyes, getting lost in the depth of them. The Half-Drow thought he sensed a kind of...innocence.
Shaking his head, he continued with what he was saying. "Well, you look like a smart kid with no direction. I was thinking about teaching you in my...proffession." he stopped then, licking his lips idley as he thought through what he had said, looking for holes.
"Of course that's what you LOOK like. So how about it?"
Aberon - July 27, 2005 03:40 PM (GMT)
Aberon squinted at Stirling and then asked, "What's your profession, sir?"
He then averted his gaze from the staring drow's eyes. It made him feel nervous whenever someone stared directly at him. He didn't like being scrutinized, not one bit. "And if you don't mind me saying, I'd prefer you don't look at me like that anymore. I'm not partial to staring," Aberon said bluntly. He had a problem with lying, and not speaking his mind. He could barely stop himself from saying everything that came to his mind. And he couldn't lie at all. He had tried, but it always came out as the truth.
Stirling - July 29, 2005 03:46 AM (GMT)
The Half-Drow immediatly blinked and turned his gaze upwards, looking at one of the few patches of blue that passed the foliage. When he was looking at the boy, however, he seemed to be holding something back, like his real thoughts. Stirling didn't like that.
"If there is anything you would like to say about me, anything, don't hold it back." he told him crisply. "Sometimes a situation can get worse if you don't speak your mind."
Then he thought of a way of breaking the news about his proffesion to the boy. Immediatly he knew what the first expression would be. It would be of shock first, then fear of being robbed, then after that came distaste. That was his least favorite. Shrgugging, he supposed that telling him straight would be good.
"I'm a professional treasure hunter, m'boy. Or burgler in the common speak."
Aberon - July 31, 2005 09:53 PM (GMT)
Aberon stared at the drow skeptically. A burglar? Terriffic. Like he was going to become a burglar any time soon. There was no possible way he could do anything that included stealth, silence, and trickery, three of the things he was worst at. Or best at, depending on how you look at it. Aberon was truly wonderful at tricking, moving silently and other things like that, it was something that came from his dragon mother's side.
Aberon contemplated Stirling's offer. He could be good at it, but he would be stealing, something he had been taught not to do since...forever. However, if he only stole from people who wouldn't notice if twenty or so gold coins went missing...then it wouldn't be bad. Aberon stared suspiciously up at Stirling.
"What's in it for me? Working for you. Would I get half, a third? Less? Tell me, please. I am curious." Aberon spoke in a childish voice, somewhat high pitched and very matter-of-fact.
Stirling - August 1, 2005 07:51 AM (GMT)
The Half-Drow gave a smile at the boy, glad that he was interested. He then shrugged "It depends, really, on how much I help you. I will teach you the more finer arts of it, and you'll give me, say, ten percent automaticly."
He stopped, letting his words sink in. Then he began again "But when I help you steal something, I will get some more percentage for doing the work. We can arrange that as we go."
Aberon - August 1, 2005 02:42 PM (GMT)
Aberon's eyes screwed up thoughtfully. He wasn't sire he wanted to be a robber/burglar/thief thing.
"I do most of the stealin' then?" He asked Stirling suspiciously. "And how much do you think you will want when you help me steal stuff? I'd like to know all the details before I say yes or no," Aberon stated. He glanced at Stirling's face. He had never met a drow before but he always imagined them much darker then this drow.
"Who are you? What are you? Are you notorious or not? Why do you want my help?" Aberon said in a burst.
