Title: The streets at night
Description: Open to anyone
Zydus - July 3, 2005 08:20 PM (GMT)
Zydus wondered through the empty, but dangerous streets of Taras. The danger was mainly from muggers in the backalleyes and also because it was dark outside. He slowly walked past each of the buildings that were before him. He was searching for an Inn to stay the night in, but hadn't yet managed to find one. This was his first time in Taras City for a long while. As he walked through he thought of his past, of how he ended up an orphan and of how he was a page under a great Knight of the age.
Zydus looked around as he walked forward. Every now and then, there would be a scuffle of a few merchants still closing or people racing home. Home, thought Zydus. This was once his home, but not anymore. Taras was regarded by Zydus as his place of birth -- that's all. Pacing forward, Zydus was lookign for someone to ask them where the nearest Inn was. He hoped that 'someone' would not be a gang of muggers. He had only some money with him, but it was possible he could still be attacked. This, though, didn't bother Zydus as he knew he could take on most common thugs. Still, he searched for an Inn, or someone to give him directions...
Aegion - July 4, 2005 07:38 AM (GMT)
After chancing upon a vampire slayer and saving some prisoners, they had reached the great city of Taras. Aegion parted ways with the vampire slayer silently and walked for a while, savouring the night air and the sweet, sweet smell of civilization and home. He had not been here for the past few hundred of years or so due to his numerous travellings across time and beyond. Eager to find a place to rest, he quickened his pace towards the place where the Inn was supposed to be.
A flower shop? I thought this place is an inn... Oh well, things can change in a few hundred years time...
He turned around and saw a slightly confused knight, not knowing where to go.
"Greetings friend, are you by chance looking for a place to rest in? Or do you know the way to the nearest Inn?"
Zydus - July 4, 2005 10:37 AM (GMT)
Zydus turned to the voice of the stranger who spoke to him. "Hello, and Yes. I am...though I am quite confused as to where I can find one." He smirked, thinking that this was the first time in a long while he had been confused in a town or city. "Do you happen, by chance, to know where an Inn may be?"
Zydus looked around the dark streets. He quickly glanced at any buildings which may even resemble an Inn. "Would I be correct in saying, that you are also looking for an Inn to sleep the night through?" Zydus stared at the stranger, trying to figure out what class he may be. He figured out that the man was either a cleric or something similar, and so didn't think the man was a threat to him.
Aegion - July 4, 2005 11:10 AM (GMT)
"Yeah, I'm looking for a place to rest. I wouldn't fancy sleeping on the streets getting mugged all night."
Aegion felt a sweeping gaze on his body, and noticed that man studying himself. Aegion couldn't resist the chance to study the man in return, staring deep into his eyes. After all, being a master of concentration and an Aasimar makes him a natural soulgazer and observer.
The expression in the man's eyes was that of quizzical curiosity and self reassurance. When they say the eyes are windows to a person's soul, they weren't kidding.
Aegion answered, "If you were wondering, yes I am a... what most people call "cleric". What I actually am is a bit hard to describe and understand, but its closest thing that I am is a cleric. Also, being the kind person that I am, I do not intend to fight, nor do I actually can fight hand-to-hand in the first place."
Zydus - July 4, 2005 01:26 PM (GMT)
Zydus smirked. "None of us need to worry, then." Zydus turned around to have another look about the city, looking to decide which street they should go up. "Hmm, have you any idea of where the nearest Inn maybe? I haven't been in Taras for quite some time...so I have no notion as to where to go next."
Zydus wondered about what he would do if he couldn't find an Inn to stay the night in. If he couldn't, then he'd probably have to go and search for some corner to sleep in. That idea didn't make him feel too pleased. Instead, he decided if he couldn't find an Inn, then he would go find a stable or someone's house to sleep in -- he still had money, so he figured he could get somewhere available, at least.
Aegion - July 5, 2005 11:55 AM (GMT)
Aegion was also thinking in this awkward silence, before he remembered something and hit his head.
"Ah! How can I forget... I do have a map!"
He took out his magic map, and poked the circle with the label "Taras".
"Hmm... inn... inn...", he muttered to himself as he scanned the map to find which inn is nearest to his position.
A glowing red 'X' on the map with the label 'You are Here' immediately appeared. He noticed that it was only a bit far off the main gate from which he entered from.
He found what he was looking for, and looked up.
"The nearest inn to where we are is called 'Song of Elves Tavern & Inn'. According to my map we have to go straight up, turn right at the second junction and we would be at the doorsteps of this Inn. This inn is rather bright and bustling, even at night, so we wouldn't miss it. Not to mention it's size."
He motioned for the knight to walk along with him as he began his short journey to the Inn.
"May I have the honour of knowing your name, my esteemed knight?"
Zydus - July 5, 2005 12:02 PM (GMT)
Zydus looked at the magic map, before the cleric began to move. "Nice map..." He smirked, and began to walk, following the man. "...and my name is Zydus Kelsin, but there is no need to call me esteemed. I prefer not to be called formal names." Zydus follows the man carefully. He gazed at the buildings as they ventured along the streets.
"May I ask your name, Cleric?" He decided he may as well know the man's name, if nothing else, for the man now knew Zydus' name and he seemed trustworthy. "I cannot wait to get inside an Inn, for the streets don't seem anywhere near as friendly as they are during the day."
Aegion - July 6, 2005 01:11 AM (GMT)
Aegion did a small bow as they turned at the second junction, "Aegion Loki Ragnarok, at your service."
"The streets are none too friendly at night, that I agree, but the chivalrous knight will defend the weak." Aegion smiled, "And that means you, Sir Zydus Kelsin."
He stopped as they turned into a pathway leading to a large brightly-lit building, the cheerfulness and bustle is infectious even from far away. A grin formed on Aegion's visage and he turned to Zydus, "Come, friend. We shall spend the night here."
Zydus - July 6, 2005 10:34 AM (GMT)
Zydus saluted, humourously at the Aegion's words, calling him a Chilvalrous Knight - which he was, really. He looked up at the building, and a warm feeling went through his body. "Great...we are here." Slowly, Zydus walked through the door, and into the room...wher he made straight for the bar. There was music, and dancers entertaining the Inn's occupants. This made Zydus smile, slightly. He enjoyed a good, warm Inn.
Aegion - July 6, 2005 11:42 AM (GMT)
Aegion entered the Inn just after Zydus went in, but a group of adventurers, probably in the same party, walked past him and up the stairs to the rooms and he lost sight of Zydus. Shrugging, he hung his cloak near the door and headed for the counter.
