Title: A journey from home...
Airie - December 17, 2003 04:03 AM (GMT)
Ciara smiled at the innkeeper nodding her thanks as she took a long drink of the water that was poured for her. It was cool and had quenched her thrist. She didn't see much on Kuya's face, she felt at times it was rather difficult to see his true emotions. Her smile weakened as her mind travelled back to the memory, the vision that was inside her. She had noticed that a few still lingered, listening to her tell her story. She frowned at the thought but she had promised Kuya she would tell him so she went on, this time not whispering.
She had never truely understood herself, why it was forbidden for her to play with the other children, mostly humans and elves at this time. She did not know of the Yew trees poisonous toxins and about the death that it could bring. She did not know either that she herself somethings similar, that even the slightest touch of her skin could bring a grown man to his knees. Not until the day when she met an unusual traveler.
Ciara felt the lump in her throat begin to ache, a cold shiver running through her body as she thought of the rest of the vision. She wondered if it was wise to go on, then looked up to Kuya, not really smiling, just a plain face.
Airie - December 7, 2003 04:01 PM (GMT)
As Ciara headed through what seemed to be a City, she drew up the hood to her cloak and pulled on her gloves to assure they were on tight. She didn't want any trouble as she travelled to and through this place called Imythess, but by the stares that she was recieving from the Dwarves, who appeared to live in this mountain range, she was getting the vibe that things might get rocky. Though she didn't feel welcome, she couldn't help but admire and respect the work that was put into their city. As she passed, she noticed how the city was actually built into the mountain itself and seemed to be some centuries old. Smiling to herself, Ciara looked away and continued on, not really wanting any more attention than she was recieving from the inhabitants of the city. It was a large City and wished she could stop to find out more, but by the looks of things, she wouldn't be made welcome here if she did. Quickening her pace she continued on wondering how far away Imythess was and if all of the people around this area were so cold. A gust of wind made way with her hood and she struggled for a moment trying to quickly draw it back. This journey may be a long one Ciara thought as she stopped to fasten her hood secure, but it would be well worth it in the end if I could make atleast one friend along the way. I so dearly miss having companions, it had been so long since I had any contact with another being other than my mountain sprite friends. Ciara smiled to herself once more, forgetting the Dwarves staring at her, remembering why she had set out in the first place and made her way through their city...
Kuya - December 7, 2003 10:19 PM (GMT)
(You make long posts!)
Kuya sat on a near by tree minding his own business watching the city from up high. His attention suddenly went towards near the entrance of the city. A lady he had never seen before walked in. He couldn't recognize her. She was definitely not from any near by places, but on the other hand neither was he. But he had been in the Deep Cities before. He jumped down quietly from the tree he was on and greeted the newcomer.
"Hellom what brings you to this part of Imythess?" he asked smiling and politely.
Airie - December 7, 2003 10:27 PM (GMT)
(Sometimes I cannot help it, I am gettin better though!)
Startled, Ciara stopped as the man in front of her spoke. Where on earth did he come from? she wondered. She would definately have to pay closer attention to her surroundings if she was to stay out of trouble. 'Oh, these parts? Um, I am just passing through' Lowering her eyes she took a small step back and hoped this wouldn't mean trouble.
Kuya - December 7, 2003 10:31 PM (GMT)
(lol apply for the Advanced rp title when you make enough good posts!)
Kuya watched as the woman took a step back. "Oh, I'm sorry to startle you. I'm not going to harm you, you can go ahead and go right in. There's nothing wrong." Kuya stepped out of her way and said: "I just though I would welcome you that's all."
Airie - December 7, 2003 10:39 PM (GMT)
Her eyes widened as a smile crossed her face and looked up again at the man. Something about this man was different from the many Dwarves that had given her such cold stares. She hadn't noticed it before, because she was so startled, but he hadn't stopped smiling since he greeted her. It is alright Sir, I didn't mean to be rude. I am just not used to such a pleasant stranger. It has been a long time. She bowed slightly and began to introduce herself. My name is Ciara Aoife and thank you for being so kind Sir. May I ask your name?
Kuya - December 7, 2003 10:46 PM (GMT)
"My name is Kuya, for the last name....Kuya paused for a moment then finally saying: I didn't know my parents, but they are deceased so I try not to think about it." Kuya said trying to shake off something that was in his head. "It's nice to meet you Ciara."[B]
Airie - December 7, 2003 10:52 PM (GMT)
Frowning at Kuya, Ciara's heart ached for she too knew what it was like to have deceased partents. Knowing the subject at hand could become ackward, she quickly tried to change the topic. So, what is it that brings you here Kuya? You don't seem like someone that would fit in here. Ciara's eyes glowed with excitement. For so long she had wished to hear the stories of travelers and today, here she was! Ciara tried to calm herself but the playful smile on her face stayed as she waited for her new aquaintance to continue.
Kuya - December 7, 2003 10:56 PM (GMT)
Kuya laughed a bit. "I don't come from here, I too am just passing by. But I plan to stay here for a few days. But what brings you here. There had to be some other reason why you are coming through the cites. many people come here to talk and trade."
Airie - December 7, 2003 11:03 PM (GMT)
Ciara had to giggle inside. I did evade that question earlier in an effort to not get in trouble didn't I? And what is it he could be staying for? Ciara felt excited inside and hoped she could find out more about Kuya, he was so...interesting. I come from an old abandonded village not that far from here. Over the many centuries, I have grown quite lonely for the mountains seclude that area and no one comes to visit me anymore. So, I thought I might try my hand in traveling to see what the world is up to these days. I had no idea some pausing she nodded torward the Dwarves and then leaned in to whisper to Kuya could be so unfriendly. As she finished the sentence, she cautiously looked around hoping noone else had heard her.
Kuya - December 7, 2003 11:09 PM (GMT)
"The dwarves can be a grumpy folk but they don't have a reputaion of usually being bad. You talk of them as if they didn't treat or like you enough." Kuya said sounding concerned now. "Well you'll find this place a safe enough haven from anything."
Airie - December 7, 2003 11:19 PM (GMT)
Ciara shrugged as if to say 'I don't really know'. Maybe I just took their stares the wrong way. I have been out of the communication loop for sometime now. Sighing, she hadn't meant to speak ill of the Dwarves, they really didn't do anything wrong she supposed. It is a beautiful city, I especially like the way it is built right into the mountainside. Ciara smiled and noticed that they had been standing in the middle of the entrance to this city for quite some time now and wondered is she was keeping him from anything important. Tell me Kuya, if it is not too rude of me to ask, why do you have to stay here a night or two? I am not keeping you, am I? The smile faded slightly as she tilted her head to the side and hoped he wouldn't say yes...
Kuya - December 7, 2003 11:25 PM (GMT)
"I'm just exploring at the moment so that's why I'm staying here for a while. And for your other question, no your not holding me from anything so it's all fine. Say I bet I'm keeping you from the city! I bet you would love to see it more wouldn't you?"
Airie - December 7, 2003 11:33 PM (GMT)
Snickering she shook her head before she tried to speak without laughing. I would love to see the city, but as of right now I am wandering down this mountain. I have no real aim, I am not sure where I am going. To be honest with you stopping she giggled again I don't know where I am. So you see, I too am exploring in a way. Ciara smiled and wondered if there was more to see around this mountain city. While watching the many Dwarves at work, she noticed that they still seemed to give her a cold, steely stare but it no longer bothered her. Lowering the hood from her cloak she shook her hair back letting the long blonde strands fall over her shoulders, feeling more relaxed now that she had met Kuya. So Kuya, you wouldn't happen to be able to point me in the right direction or show me any interesting sights along my way would you?
Kuya - December 7, 2003 11:38 PM (GMT)
"Hey I have only one piece of advice for you. Well actually it goes well with all big cities if you know what I mean. Stay out of the allys. There's always some bandits roaming around. Well, enough of that let's go explore the city." Kuya said leading her on the main road.
Airie - December 7, 2003 11:44 PM (GMT)
Alleys? Bandits? What is he talking about? What are you talking about Kuya? She was slightly baffled by this, she had never been to a big city before let alone out of the small village atop the mountain. But Ciara didn't let that stop her from following Kuya, she knew that he would keep her safe. Feeling the excitement once again take over her small form, her eyes glowed and a playful smile was spread across her face.
Kuya - December 7, 2003 11:53 PM (GMT)
Kuya turned and saw her smile. "It most be really boring where you live. In big cities especially this one, there are pick pockets and bandits. There's always some at night. And the guards here do little about it. So I guess that's why I'm here."
Airie - December 8, 2003 12:01 AM (GMT)
Boring? I suppose you could say it is boring. But I would say it is more lonely than boring. Ciara frowned slightly at the thought of her home, how far it was from where she was now and only hoped she could find a quick way back when the time was right. What do these pickpockets and bandits do? Are they evil? Why would they only come out at night? Noticing that she was only asking questions and not leaving Kuya any time to answer she stopped and snickered and calmed herself down a bit. I do apologize Kuya, it has been a long long time for me. Up on the mountain, I am the only one other than the mountain sprites. Will you tell me more about the Big City?
Kuya - December 8, 2003 08:32 PM (GMT)
"I see you haven't been out in the world much. Pick pockets bump into you and politely say excuse me. And next thing you know your money is gone. They are usually little children. Bandits come at night most of the time when they can't be seen. They do whatever they want. I'm here to put a stop to that. This city is known for both." Kuya answered.
Airie - December 9, 2003 02:34 AM (GMT)
Frowning at the horrid things that Kuya said about these types of people, Ciara couldn't understand why anyone would do such things. Why on earth would little children steal? And these bandits? It is saddening to hear of such people. Hoping that she would not ever meet up with anyone that would resort to such evil ways she turned her attention to where Kuya was leading her. Where is it that we are going Kuya? A smile once again crossing her face as the excitement grew inside her. I cannot wait to see more of this wonderful place.
Kuya - December 9, 2003 08:36 PM (GMT)
" I was just about to ask you the same thing. We can get something to eat at an inn, or we can go see more sites. It's your choice." Kuya said smiling back.
"Also the little thieves that I was talking about earlier have no family usually, so they have to make a living."
Airie - December 9, 2003 09:47 PM (GMT)
Awww her heart broke at the thought of anyone having no family to rely upon. There must be someone they could turn to or a better way for them to make a living other than stealing from others... her voice trailed off as she began to wonder if there was a way to help these poor people that seemed to have nothing left. I am quite hungry. I haven't had anything to eat since I left my home. Perhaps we could go to the Inn you speak of. Can we sit down there? I would love to hear of your other adventures, if you wouldn't mind sharing. Her eyes glowed lightly as she tilted her head again and smiled to Kuya. He was awfully friendly. I wonder what great things he has done, he appears to be a man of wisdom and power. That is, if you haven't had anything to eat already. She winked at Kuya playfully.
Kuya - December 9, 2003 10:08 PM (GMT)
Kuya laughed softly.
"Yes we may go and eat as you said. I am famished myself. But as for the telling of my adventures I cannot because the things I have done are very unbelievable and you just think I was full of lies or just bragging." Kuya said open heartedly.
Airie - December 9, 2003 10:13 PM (GMT)
Ciara gasped in disbelief. I would never Kuya. Please? She begged. I promise I will believe you. Smiling sweetly, she hoped it was enough to persuade him to tell her of the many things he had done. From the sounds of it, they were all quite amazing.
Kuya - December 9, 2003 10:19 PM (GMT)
"Ok but first can we get something to eat, I can't tell the mustings I have donw on an empty...or partially empty stomach."
Kuya's stomach growled.
"Excuse me...but see what I mean?" Kuya said laughing a little.
Airie - December 9, 2003 10:22 PM (GMT)
Oh my. Stepping back Ciara giggled as she covered herself and tried not to laugh at Kuya's stomach which appeared to be speaking hunger. Well good Sir she giggled again satisfied that she had persuaded him shall we go? Motioning her arm in front of her rather eloquently she waited for him to lead the way as she did not know it.
Kuya - December 10, 2003 10:06 PM (GMT)
Kuya smiled and went into an inn. It was big but not that fancy.
"Kuya! How's life been treating you?!" a man said at the counter and some other people looked at the entrance and they too started to greet Kuya.
"Hello, this is my friend Ciara. Ciara meet the welcoming comitee." Kuya said pointing out Ciara.
Airie - December 10, 2003 10:35 PM (GMT)
Ciara followed Kuya into the Inn and smiled as he was greeted. So well know Kuya is, that shows that he has done many great things. As he introduced her, she blushed a slight shade of pink, waving her fingers hello. You don't say? Well a very warm hello to all of you. She laughed and gave a quick curtsey. Looking around the inside of the inn, her eyes filled with delight as she studied the room in front of her.
Kuya - December 10, 2003 10:50 PM (GMT)
They all greeted Ciara as she came in. Kuya went over to an empty table and pointed out to Ciara. He pulled a seat and gestured for Ciara to sit.
"Hey Kuya?! What will it be today?" asked the innkeeper.
"Umm whatever the lady wants Bartho!" Kuya answered waiting for Ciara to take a seat.
Airie - December 10, 2003 11:09 PM (GMT)
So courteous! Removing her cloak she took the seat that Kuya so kindly offered her and blushed again. A nervous panic in her eyes, she whispered, speaking very quickly. But I have no idea what they have here and I she stopped, her mouth still open as she watched him I don't know what they have. The paniced look disappeared from her eyes and a soft smiled made its was across her face. She giggled, covering her mouth trying not to laugh to loud and realized she was being completely human girlish.
Kuya - December 11, 2003 08:49 PM (GMT)
"Umm..then what do you like? What kinds of foods did you eat before you came to the cities?" Kuya asked. He wondered what she would reply with. And he also wondered what they fed her where she came from.
Airie - December 12, 2003 07:58 AM (GMT)
Oh, well, we had lots of fruits and berries, mostly that which was produced from my Home Tree. She smiled as she shared this information with him, excited to tell someone apart of who she was. The yew fruit is so very sweet, thought I am not sure that your stomach or taste buds would tolerate such a thing. She frown at the, not many had ever aten the fruit from her tree, mostly, she had shared it only with the sprites of the mountain. Perhaps it would be better if we had a meal that you enjoyed? Don't you think? She smiled warmly as she leaned gently onto the table and watched for Kuya's reply. It would help to introduce me to the culinary customs of Imythess. She giggled wildly at herself and looked around at the others that had entered the Tavern.
Kuya - December 12, 2003 08:43 PM (GMT)
Kuya smiled and nodded. "Ok, Bartho bring in the regular feast for two please. She seemsto be a vegetarian so cut a bit on the meat in the dishes." Kuya said.
"Alrighty!" said Bartho.
Airie - December 12, 2003 09:58 PM (GMT)
Ciara sat quietly with a delighted smile across her face. Thank you, this is a very nice place Kuya. I thought you were exploring, how do all of these people know you so well? She leaned back from the table pulling on her gloves that so irratably fell loose and rubbed against her arms the wrong way.
Kuya - December 12, 2003 10:01 PM (GMT)
Kuya was a bit embarassed to say this but.
"I've been around the deep cities before. Some of the people here are the last of their kind. And as I have seen not alot of Knights are seen wondering or exploring everywhere besides me." Kuya said sighing.
Airie - December 12, 2003 10:16 PM (GMT)
Oh, a Knight! I haven't heard of those since my father she paused trying to think of a way to explain then only rephrased her sentence since my adoptive father told me stories so many long years ago. I have never met a Knight before. Her eyes glowed softly in delight as the pitch in voice rose. How wonderful! A real live Knight. Ciara eagerly watched Kuya, beaming at him and slowly understanding how well known he must be.
Kuya - December 12, 2003 11:50 PM (GMT)
Kuya smiled back. "Ummmm as I promised, what story would you like to hear first? I have many to tell, but give me a general opinion of what you want to hear and I'll find something if it fits." Kuya said.
Airie - December 13, 2003 12:07 AM (GMT)
Ciara excitedly tilted her head to the side and looked off into a corner, not specifically looking at anything, just taking a moment to think one what exactly she would like to hear first. There is so much I would like to know, where do I start! The task seemed simple enough, but was a hard decision to make. Her eyes popped open as she thought of what she came up with an idea. Well, the best place to start is the beginning. Is it not? She beamed at Kuya as she spoke. Why don't you tell me what noble feat gained you your Knighthood. Moving her chair closer to table, Ciara clasped her hands together, trying to sit still.
Kuya - December 13, 2003 12:18 AM (GMT)
"Great idea..." Kuya said an thought for a moment.
Ok, this is the most important and valiant deed I have done, and the one that I am known for the most.
It was a beautiful day. I was walking near the Temple of Night. It was beutiful. I looked at all the scenery, the structures and things that made the temple what it was. Then I heard a rumbling coming from the ground. Five Barlogs (generals of evil) came from the ground, right outside of the temple...
Kuya paused seeing what she would say. But at the same time, some of the people in the inn also was listening to the story by situating themselves around their table.
Airie - December 13, 2003 12:24 AM (GMT)
Ciara gasped raising her entangled hands up to her chest and noticed a few of the locals had come to hear the story too. Blushing slightly seeing no one else had had such a reaction to his words she smiled again and left her hands where they were, fiddling with the small golden luck charm of her necklace that she wore. Looking back to Kuya, she dared not to interrupt him, only waited for him to continue.
