The stories at night, before bedtime, were always dreamt about when told of Calmonah. The wizard who 'ruled' over this kingdom of trees had always enchanted Raine. But now, he is grown, and without anyone to tell him more stories, he realized he could be the one doing the telling. The forest was reached through months of searching. The Taras library had little documents concerning the wood, but it gave Raine a general direction in where to find it. Asking fellow elves just brought Raine slight shame as they laughed at this 'child's story'. But now he will show them wrong. He is here.
The darkened woods lomed out in front of him, long roots almost touching his feet pulling him in. His wolf strayed behind, totally against his choosing to come here. He gave his pet a long look, showing him they would be going in no matter what. The wolf whined, but came closer to him. The moon slowly rose over the horizon behind him. He loosened his sword in its scabbard as he took one step. Then paused. His wolf turned around, and looked towards the sky. A long, lonely, sad cry emitted from its light gray throat. Raine just swallowed. He took the second step towards darkness.
