Basic Rules of Imythess
Rating: PG-13
What this means: Imythess is a role-playing site that is focused on the thirteen and over age group. There is some violence/horror/mild swearing/and sometimes making out, but it never goes farther than that. If it does, it is against the rules and Moderators and Administrators will take action.
WarningsEach member is allowed 4 official warnings before being banned. You can see your own warn level to the left of your posts and may click on the number (1-4) to read your warn record. No one else can see your warn level except you, the Moderators, and the Administrators.
For most infractions against the rules, you will receive a Personal Message warning before receiving an official warning. This is more of a favor than a necessity and a moderator may choose to immediately give you a warning without contacting you.
Warning RemovalsThree months after your latest warning, you may Personal Message an Administrator (not Moderator), requesting that one warning may be removed. Only one warning will be removed at a time, started with your newest and going down. If you have a bad record, however (such as multiple and frequent infractions of the rules), the Admin may deny your request to have your warning removed. It is your responsibility to request a warnings removal, not a Moderators or an Admins.
Appropriate ConductAs a member, you will be expected to treat other members with respect, follow the rules, and not take advantage of the rules. They are not difficult to follow and if you have any questions considering them, post at the Help board or Personal Message an Admin.
If you are found acting inappriately, for any reason seen inappropriate by an Admin, you can and will receive a warning, or even be banned.
The Admins at Imythess are chosen carefully for fair judgment and discretion will be used when using this right.
1] Have fun and enjoy yourself! Imythess is meant to be a fun passtime and if you find yourself stressed out when on Imythess, take a deep breath, sit back, and take a break. Imythess is meant to be a hobby, not work.
----------
2] Posting Minimums:
Normal Role-Play Boards: In-Character posts that take place in these forums must consist of at least 20 words. This is to prevent spamming, and encourage longer description in posts.
Advanced Role-Play Boards: Posts here must consist of at the very least 200 words. They are called the Advanced Role-Play forums for a reason. Some lee-way will be given if you are a normally consistent poster and you are off by 2-3 words. If it happens to often, or if you frequently do not make the minimum, you will be removed as an Advanced Role-Player.
Guild Halls/Temples: This is very much up to the Guildmaster or the Gods controlling the guild/temple. They may set their own word minimum, but the default is 20 words.
----------
3] Godmoding/Power-Playing:
Godmoding: This is where you make your character much more powerful than they really are, such as destroying a whole village (major godmoding), or avoiding every attack of your opponent (mild godmoding). The punishment for godmoding depends on the severity of it. If it was mild godmoding, then you may get off with a simple personal message correcting you. If it is severe, then you will get a warning.
Power-Playing: This is when you control the actions of another person's character. The people in Imythess are separated into two groups: NPCs (Non-Player Characters), and PCs (Player Characters). You may control the actions of NPCs, such as the Jim, the barkeep in the Green Gryphon. On the other hand, there may be important NPCs in quests or role-plays that were created by a PC and they may want to be the only one to control the actions of that NPC. Controlling even small actions for a PC, however, is not allowed. You cannot tell other PCs how their character reacts to something, nor what their actions are.
Killing Another PC (Player-Character): This is not allowed, unless you are given permission to kill that other PC.
----------
4] Spamming and Double Posting:
Spamming: It is considered spamming when you post two or more times, purposefully, in OOC (Out Of Character) or IC (In-Character). Often they are senseless posts that mean nothing, but it is still considered spamming if the posts do make sense. If you feel the need to change something in the initial post, or add a comment to it, there is an edit button on the upper right corner of your post.
Role-Playing with Yourself: Many people have alternate accounts on Imythess and this is allowed. You also may role-play with these two accounts in the same IC (In-Character) topic, if it has to do with a quest or plot of some sort. If it becomes too much of a habit, you may be asked to stop and if it continues even further, you will be given a warning.
----------
5] Other Posting Rules:
Smilies: You may not use smilies while IC (In-Character). They are only for the general discussion forum and other OOC (Out Of Character) posts and topics.
Forums: You may not post OOC (Out Of Character) topics in the IC (In-Character) Role-Play areas. There is an exception for the Guild Halls, however. See the Guild Rules for details.
Setting: Imythess is set in a very Medieval/Fantasy world, much like The Lord of the Rings and other fantasy books and movies of the genre. There is no modern technology, such as cell phones, blue jeans, guns, spaceships, etc. This should be obvious.
Private Topics: If an RP (Role-Play) is marked with a (p), [p], or says 'private,' then that topic is closed to anyone but those the poster has invited and not open for anyone to join unless they were invited. This does not mean, however, that the post will not be moderated by Admins or Mods.
----------
6] Items:
Starting Off: You may begin with basic clothing (no armor) when you start Imythess. Also, each new member may choose a weapon, an item, and a simple spell to start out with.
For a list of starting items, click
here.Besides these basic items, you may not have anything else in your inventory unless you purchase items from the Shops.
Replacement Items: If there is a specific weapon you would like, but the shops does not have that item, you may buy the closest thing to it and change the weapon's (or any other item, except spells) name and description to fit the specific weapon you want. You cannot, however, buy a Longsword and call it a Masterwork Longsword after you buy it. You also cannot make your weapons and items any more powerful than they already are. A Longsword is simply a Longsword, unless you buy an enchantment for it. It is best to clear such item replacements through an Admin beforehand.
Item Descriptions: On the same note, items, weapons, and spell effects, can all be customized to your character's style or ideas as long as you do not make your spells/weapons/items any more powerful than they are. You may also replace the default images with your own.
----------
7] Accounts and Characters
Multiple Accounts: You may have multiple accounts on Imythess, but you should not sign up with more role-playing accounts than you can handle.
Characters: You can only have one account per character. So, you cannot play with two characters under one username. You must create seperate accounts for each character. There is an exception for infants, though. If your character has an infant child, or some other helpless humanoid to take care of (such as a dying grandparent who is bedridden) may be played in one account along with the character. These helpless charges are considered NPCs, but are under the PC's control.
----------
8] Avatars and Signatures:
Avatars: (The avatar is the image just above your money and stats) Your avatar cannot be inappropriate or distracting to other members. It does not have to reflect your character, but if a moderator feels that it is inappropriate in any way they have the right to ask you to either change or remove it. If the avatar is not changed, then you will receive a warning.
Signatures: The signature is the text that is added after posts in a topic. Your signature may hold your character's basic stats, links to their description/inventory/journal page, and banners or character-related images. The size limit for images in your signature is 600x500. Also, a good rule of thumb for your signature is if your signature is three times as long as your posts in page length, then you should consider cutting it down, or people may complain and Mods may ask you to minimize it.
----------
9] Out of Character:
Advertising: Advertising in any other forum other than the Cool Sites forum or the Affiliates page is not allowed. Do not mass Personal Message everyone on the site, nor should you email members. It will be reported to the Mods and Admins and you will be banned. You may also have links in your signature and small banners. It is also okay to mention other sites in a discussion, and provide links, but only in a casual manner and not advertising it to anyone who will read.
----------
10] Unallowed Content:These are things that are not allowed on Imythess at all. If you violate any of the below then you may be banned without explanation. Imythess is meant to be rated PG-13, as mentioned above.
Nudity: While a lot of nudity is tasteful and unoffensive to most, it is not allowed here. This is partly because Imythess is meant to be friendly to 13 and up and because just as many people are offended by nudity.
Sex: Role-Playing sex is completely unallowed here. You may go as far as to making out, but it is time to fade to black when nudity comes into the role-play. That is a simple rule of thumb, but if a Moderator or Administrator feels it is too graphic you may be reprimanded or even banned. If you feel the need to role-play sex, do so through Personal Messages, email, or on another forum.
Flaming: Two words:
NOT ALLOWED. You are to treat every member here with respect and courtesy. If you find that you and another member do no see eye-to-eye, do not begin a flame war, as anyone involved will probably be banned.
Drugs: The world of Chaon is meant to be a realistic world, and it does ahve illegal substances, alcohol, and other things of the sort. This does not mean you have the right to use them as an excuse to get your character high. Any discussion that takes place Out Of Character that concerns drugs and getting high is totally unallowed. The same goes for In-Character. While your character may get intoxicated on the ale in the Green Gryphon tavern, they are not allowed to get high on mushrooms or other substances. Such behavior will result in being banned.
Excessive Swearing: While some swearing is allowed, it is not encouraged, especially OOC (Out of Character). It is acceptable for your character to say 'damn' from time to time, but not much more than that and your character is expected to stay within the setting of a medieval/fantasy world as it says above. Many expletives used today never existed back then. Keep it clean.
