Title: In the Marsh
Munwithurix - April 9, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
Munwithurix walked through the swamps of the Haunted Marsh, making sure nothing was happening that she didn't know about. But what she could tell everything was fine, which wasn't good, for she hoped someone of something would cause some sort of trouble. She had all this power and no one to try it on. Reaching a deep place in the swamp she swam across, there wasn't any fish in the swamps, only bones and many strange dead creatures.
Her dark eyes looked about the marsh, she was bored, and when a black dragon is bored it is not a good thing.
Tail lashing, Munwithurix opened her wings and folded them, then she charged at one of the narly looking trees. She opened her mouth and shot green mucus from it, when the mucus hit, it made a large black spot that ate at the tree. That made her feel better but she was still bored and from what she could tell nothing was going to entertain her.

Vernon was wondering about the swamp hoping perhaps to find some lost fool to pick on, he hadn't found any lately which was sad, but understandable. Vernon was bored though he did have a bit of fun handling a few incompetent fools who thought they were good enough to take the bounty on his head. He left the bodies to rot in the swamp water. He'd deal with the dead bodies later if anything remained aside from bones when he got back.
Vernon's horrible stench announced forthcoming as he made his way through the trees. Vernon pausedwhen his sensitive ears picked up some alarming sounds. Something was running through the marsh. Vernon could hear another sound that was so familar to him, the sizzling sound of acid eating at something. This was certainly a matter that had to be looked into. Vernon quickly began to make his way to where he had heard the noises from. The first thought that came to mind was of some meddling mage playing around in the marsh. Vernon wouldn't stand for that.
Munwithurix - April 13, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
As Munwithurix spat another tree with acid, then she heard something coming through the marsh, grinning she ran towards it. Legs working hard, nosetrils flaring Munwithurix filled her acid glans and let the power of magic run through her whole body, it gave strength to her as she went through the marsh.
As she approched her target a nasty smell came over her, it made her cringe, but she kept on running to the target. Opening her wings she slowed down from her run right in front of the nasty smelling thing. She glared down at it, it reminding her of a large rat, she liked to eat rats. Before anything could be said she stood on her back legs and lifted one of her large clawed feet, something red appered in it and then in seconds there was a fire whip in her claw.
In the other claw she made a small fire orb, the only thing she did for a few second was glare down into the eyes of her enemy, but then she remebered she had smelled him in the swamp before, he was the one who had been in the marsh making it his home, well not anymore.

Vernon was surprised to see Black dragon before him. He had been expecting to find one earlier though as the weeks pst he wondered if their were any in the marsh. He knew that they preffered to hide deep in the water where as Vernon preferred the safety of the trees. He had not expected meeting one to be too nice an expereince. Even now he was not prepared at all to deal with one. The old things he had were his slingshot, his crossbow, and his sword. His other weaponds were useless against dragonhide.
It was a shame that the dragon didn't seem in the mood for talking or even diplomacy. Vernon knew black dragons to be very territorial. Munwithurix's blood thirsty look did well to affirm that. She was definately not in the best of moods. Vernon's foul stench in her sensitive nose likely didn't do much to make things better. Vernon switly cast his own spell shortly after see her magically arm herself. A green fog soon settled over Vernon and a large area behind him. The edge of the vile cloud was just before Munwihurix. She had not yet attacked him and he did not want to be the first one to attack. The cloud did not effect him because he was immune to it's poison. He doubt doubted the dragon could not resit the suffacting poison or at least hold her breath as she attack, but it would render her firey weapons less effective.
"So it is true. Black dragons like to kill first and ask questions later," Vernon smiled as he pulled out his Poison blade. He hoped he needn't use it. It would be difficult to get past her scales.
Munwithurix - May 1, 2005 04:17 AM (GMT)
"And is something wrong if that is what I want to do?" Her face darker then normal, "You are the one who entered on my land, and I will make sure you do not make yourself to comfortable here." Lifting the claw that had the whip she cracked the firelash in the air, catching a nearby tree on fire.
She cracked the whip at the rodent to scare him, which probably wouldn't work, but it was worth a try. A growl grew at the back of her throat as she walked around Vernon, circling him, watching very closely, his moves, his eyes to wherever they looked. For most people seeing a dragon on two legs must look strange, clumsy in a way, and it was kinda hard for her to stay up like this.
Tired of standing she straightened and lifted the claw with the frieball, she grinned which was an dark evil look, she threw the fireball at Vernon, it was a small fire orb but if it hit it would cause alot of of burning damage to it's enemy.
Vernon - May 1, 2005 04:48 AM (GMT)
Vernon's venomous green eyes searched over the dragon looking for any sign of weakness in her scales and watching for her upcoming attack. Vernon did not like getting his own medicine thrown back at him and certainly not in the marsh of all places. The whip caught a nearby tree on fire, but the fire was small and would not spread very fast due to the very moist air and the lack of wind to aid it. Vernon paid the fire no attention. Vernon did not flinch as she cracked the whip. A whip in the hands of a dragon was not what one worried about most.
She did not seem to be able to walk very well on two legs though Vernon could think of no way to bring that to his advantage. It was as she threw the fireball that he saw his target. Her wings were perfect, there were no protective scales and he could tear into them with his claws alone.
Vernon quickly batted the fireball back at Munwithurix with his blade. The blade was not super wide, or too thin, but enough for Vernon to feel safe with his judgement. The orb was deflected into the water rather than his target and sizzled as the flames were killed by the murky water. "Why not just claim the world?" Vernon laughed. "Given that this land is yours, it is a shame that leeches are worried about more than yourself."
Munwithurix - May 1, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
(OOC:I'm not sure if you can hit a fireball back with a sword, I think you might need a spell or something to do that...I don't know.)
Munwithurix growled as the fireball came back at her, then she growled something to herself which was a spell, another grin came over her face as she looked at Vernon. But then he talked and she gave him the most deadly stare, "I do plan on ruling the land one day!" The fire whip diappeared and she growled and then charged at the rodent, the spell she had used just a moment ago was Bulls Strength, making her physical strength much stornger.
As she charged at her enemy she spat acid at him from her mouth, she knew he probably wouldn't get hurt from the acid but it would blind him for a moment, she then murmered something to herself again and her speed quickened(Spell-Haste). She got her tail ready, the barb at the end of it was sharp and got pirece right through him. She was now coming right ontop of him, acid ahead of her and going to hit, her speed and strength was to much of a match for a rat like him.
Vernon - May 3, 2005 02:37 PM (GMT)
(by the spell's description it can be deflect with no magical means. Unlike the d&d version it does not explode.)
Vernon was utterly surprised to see a creature of that size move so quickly, but he did not however merely stand stupidly in amazement and fear as the distance quickly began to close and the acid she spat rushed towards him as well. Vernon dashed to the nearest tree, which happened to be the tree with a small fire in it. He jumped and came upon the trunk of tree clinging to it with his claws on his feet and free hand. Enough acid had splashed on him after impact with the ground for him to feel a slight burning sensation on his skin. Vernon did not like the look of things.
It was obvious he likely would not be getting a hit in anytime soon, after all he was unsure he could still move around the tree in time enough to get out of the way of the dragon who was charging at him. Assuming he succeeded in moving quick enough the tree would likely topple over from the dragon’s quickly gained momentum. Vernon annoyed that his best defence, his stench seemed to be doing nothing to deter her from coming any closer. The only option he saw left was to try to wear her out, but not get worn out or killed in the process which seemed much easier said than done.
Munwithurix - May 16, 2005 12:09 AM (GMT)
Munwithurix's eyes widened as she watched the rat climb up the tree, her speed was to fast and she was going to hit the tree, feet digging into ther ground trying to stop herself but it was to late. She turned her neck and instead of her head and neck hitting the tree it was her shoulder blades, making it less painful. The tree pulled from the ground because her strength was so much. For only a few seconds did she lay on the ground, she was soon climbing to her feet, with some difficulty.
When she regained her feet she let even more magic come into her veins, and for minutes it looked as though she was in a deep trance, after she opened her eyes her whole body had turned to water. She still had form but attacks shouldn't hurt her. "Do you want to give up, or do you wish to contuine fighting, but you know that I will win. You can die easily by showing yourself or you can die a painful death if you wish to keep on fighting." Her eyes scanned the area, but she couldn't see the Rat anywhere. She mumbled to herself.
Lifting a claw light started to circle it and then magic was there, Munwithurix threw it at nothing, but hoping to scare the rodent from where he was. Magic missle was a simple but effective spell.
Vernon - May 16, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
Vernon's hastily hatched plan worked much better than he thought it would, but it did also bring something he had feared. After the mighty blow there were was a loud snap as the trees roots were ripped from the ground. If he didn't move he flattened by the tree. He quickly scampered around the trunk of the tree and was sent off it as the large tree crashed against the ground. He splashed into shallow muck a few feet away from the tree. Luckily the dragon seemed to be either in some sort of trance or perhaps even a slight daze from the collision. Either way it meant he had time to get ready for her next attack. He probably could run away, but he would still have to deal with her later. The marsh was not a place he would be exiled from.
Vernon scrambled up another tree and pulled off his backpack. The trees were his best defense. The chances of him safely getting of him getting a good safe hit in with his sword were similar to him surviving the uprooted tree without moving. He put his blade in it's sheath on his back and pulled out his crossbow. He began to cast a spell of his own, softly muttering archaic words. The head of the bolt turned green as he checked to see if everything was okay with his crossbow.
Vernon was once again surprised when he looked around the trunk which had blocked his veiw of her. She looked like an oversized water elemental. He wondered how effective his poison would be against her now. The liquid poison would spread through her body with little resistance and be even more effective or the lack of veins would render the spell useless. The nature of the poison was magical so perhaps it would work.
He saw her send off a bolt of magic in the region where he was before the tree fell down. "I am sure you think yourself powerful enough take on the world alone. Probably could even do it now if you wanted. Just never fit into your busy schedule and killing random idiots and occassionaly some people who could actually help you," Vernon laughed before firing the bolt at her large body. The poison should have her knocked out in a minute or maybe three given she was a large dragon, but that was if it worked.
Munwithurix - May 23, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
"I do not need help with anything, even when I do take the world, and you think to little of me, for I can tell you do not have much magic and you do not seem to be a warrior, I wil crush you soon." In just seconds she jumped into the air, she had heard where he was and had a feeling he was going to try something.(did you fire the poison dart, because you didn't put if he fired it or not) Then something struck her wing as she jumped to the air and it didn't feel right. Munwithurix took to the air and flew for a moment then stopped and went down onto the ground. She was a little less then a quarter of a mile from the rodent.
Something seemed to be making her tired, she cursed and then she trotted over to a hole in the ground, she crawled into it and it lead to a small round room, large enough to fit three fully grown black dragons. There was some gold on the ground and bones here and there. She kept on cursing as she felt the poison taking effect on her, she hated for running away but she had to or she would've got knocked out. Uttering a word she casted the spell Dark Regeneration, which it would help her but it would take atleast ten or more minutes.
Munwithurix layed down and had the spell contuine to heal her, she did the one thing she always hated, which was running away from a battle, black dragons didn't do that, well, maybe they, she didn't know.
A thought crossed her mind, a way to take out the rodent, yes it may work. After about ten minutes she was feeling much better, and it was a good thing that the rodent didn't find out where she ran to. She crawled back out of the hole and looked around, where ever he was she was going to kill him, this she promised.
