Title: Class on aquatic spells
Description: jump in the water is fine. :P

Master Ace - April 3, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
Master ace was not within his usual classroom today. Today he would be working with water spells and was within a classroom altered to serve that purpose. It was a large classroom with a large tank of water infront of the rows of desks and a small tank of water taking up half the space of each desk. All of the tanks were bound with a see through glass that was magically reinforced so as to not break easily. All of the small tanks on the on the desks were empty while the large tank at the front of the class was relatively full.

Master Ace sat at a large desk intended for the magister's use at the front of class. His blue hair was damp and and dripped upon the desk which was appropriately made water-proof. Ace's wet hair revealed his blue horns which were ussually hidden admist his messy hair. Ace wondered how many students would take interest in water spells as he streched out his sapphire wings.

Kael - April 3, 2005 07:52 PM (GMT)
Kael was walking down the halls of the Academy, looking for one classroom in preticular. When he first heard of this place, he had thought it was only open to nobles and scholars, not wandering shamans. He was told he was wrong, and apparently he was, for there where all kinds of people here. Most of them were human, but apparently one of the teachers was half-dragon.

When Kael first arrived here, he was looking for a class on nature spells. Naturally, if you'll excuse the pun, a shaman shold know nature spells, but Kael didn't know many. However, much to his dismay, that class was not only full, but had already happened. But there was a class on water spells, which would do just as well.

Kael found the room he was looking for, opened the door, and stepped in causiously inside. The room was filled with tanks of water, and so Kael took it as the right room.

Then he saw Master Ace at the front of the classroom, and, taking him for the teacher, bowed and asked, "Is this the water spells class, sir? I'm not sure if I have the right room..."

Nightgazer - April 4, 2005 01:30 AM (GMT)
Meera rarely, if ever used the spells that she had learned. Wether it be in battle or outside just around. She knew that she could whenever she felt like it, but never felt that she needed to. As if not using spells was a large contradiction, Meera did not very much care for academies or schools. Even despite those factors, she found herself, in an academy, for magic. Why, she didn't even really know herself. All she knew was that something told her that she needed to begin learning the art of spellcasting and learning the ways of magic. She suspected that it would be similar to weapons in the fact that they both required practice and learning. Going back to the fact that she had found herself in the academy of magic today, she had seen a sign about, that there was to be an aquatic spellcasting lesson today. Meera had great faith in her aquatic ability and decided that if she ever were to come here, better be on something she knew quite well and felt comfortable with.

Taking one deep breath, she stepped into the classroom where it was being held. The first person she saw was a wolf-like creature. She did not know what he was doing here. She was not one to be extremely judgemental, but she didn't think that it was common to see someone like him in the academy of arms. Since he was the first person she saw, she began to wonder if he was teaching the class. She started to look around the classroom, then her eyes came upon Ace. She suddenly had a refreshed look on her face. She knew Ace well and she knew that he was deffinitely teaching the class. She walked up to the front of the classroom while saying "Ace, old friend, I haven't seen you in forever!" Then hugged him. She first noticed that he was wet. As she pulled out of the hug, with still a smile on her face, she said "your wet" with raised eyebrows. She knew that this could be expected due to the nature of the class, but didn't expect it first thing.

Master Ace - April 5, 2005 10:50 PM (GMT)
Master ace was unsure if he would be getting many students. There was one other water class given before and he was the only student unfortunately. The teacher, meru, dissapeared afterward. Most people were not magisters for a long time. Water did not seem too interesting to most of the students he knew. Most students he knew were more inclinded to fire and pyromancy than water.

Ace was not entirely surprised to hear the door open, but rather he was surprised who it was who entered. Ace had yet to see a Lupine with interst in the academy, but there was of course a first for everything. Ace quicky recovered as he heard him as a question. "Of course you have the right classroom," Ace smiled. Ace was about to say tell Kael that he did not need to bow to him, but his attention was draw instead to the door as Meera entered. He stood up from his chair seeing that she seemed to be coming to hug him. It was true that they had not seen each other in some time. There last meeting was at Cascadia, if Ace recalled properly. "Yes, it has been a long time," Ace smiled as she huged her. Meera withdrew and then commented upon him being wet with a curious look upon her face.

"And you will be too soon enough," Ace smiled. "I suppose you are here for the class as well, Meera."

Ace turned his head back to the Lupine. "Both of you can inroduce yourself, maybe tell a bit about yourself and take a seat," Ace smiled eager to hear what the Lupine had to say about himself. Ace had not read much on Lupines, but he knew enough to tell a Lupine from a werewolf.

Kael - April 5, 2005 11:32 PM (GMT)
Kael grinned a kind of nervous smile that would hardley be noticed at the sight of the two hugging. It was obvious that they knew each other well, or, at least it was apparent that they knew each other somewhat.

In reply to the question, he answered, "I am Kael Oakwater, a shaman, if it should please you." While saying this, he had taken a seat in the desk nearest to him, a desk the side of the room, one desk back from the corner. "I work with nature and the like." He was wanting to know who the teacher was, as well as what exatly they would be learning.

Kael was not usually one for buildings and indoors, but he felt that at this moment and this particular land, this was a good place for magic learning.

((Are there many Lupines at Imythess?))

Nightgazer - April 11, 2005 07:37 PM (GMT)
Meera shighed exaturatedly(sp? I hate that word!) and shook her head while saying "Ace, Ace, Ace.....but of course I'm here to learn! What else would I be doing? Besides keeping in touch with you....." Then she began to smile again. She looked back at the lupine as he spoke and saw that he had taken his seat. Not wanting to look weird because she was the only one standing up, Meera took a seat next to him. By now, she had seen many an uncommon creature. She was not one to discriminate, but in fact, become more intriuged to the species. Undoubtedly she would introduce herself to him and learn more about his history. But she was not uncommon with a school setting and knew how impolite it would be to start a conversation right in the middle of a class. After all, she came here to learn and it was respectful of Ace to pay attention and listen. Besides, the lupine probably wanted to learn as well.

Meera settled down more comfortably in her seat and prepared herself for learning. She quickly went over the water spells that she already knew and made sure she was able to do them properly. She did them quickly as not to seem like she was showing off, but just running them over in her mind. She was very excited at the fact that she was able to cast spells having to do with her favored element.

Master Ace - April 27, 2005 12:43 AM (GMT)
Ace had not seen many shaman at the academy. They were a sort who seemed to learn their magic from the great outdoors rather than sit in a class and learn spells. Ace was glad to have the chance to teach one. It would be a nice change from the pyromancers who seemed to flock to the school. Ace was surprised Meera had not introduced herself formaly as Ace had thought she would. Perhaps she merely had not heard him. Whatever the case, he knew he names of both of his students and could now start his lesson. "I am glad you are here, Kael. It is a rare occassion that we have a mage specializing in nature on grounds," replied to Kael. Ace could have tooken advantage of Meera's words and given a few answers she might not expect, all of which coming from his personal expereinces, but he decided against.

"As you may or may not know, Kael, I am Ace. I may be the youngest magister in the history of the academy, but I assure you that that says nothing of my teaching," Ace smiled. There was no point in adding his title to his name after Meera had done well to introduce him without it.

"Today we shall be working with water spells as you both know. Nearly all of te spells we will go over today require a source of water. As your tanks are empty I am sure you have figured out that our first spell shall be one creating water. I'm sorry if either of you know this spell already. Make sure you mimic my movements and words. The spell is fairly simple and could likely be cast upon one's first try," Ace said before going through the motions of the spell himself. After finishing casting the spell, ace held his hand over the empty tank on the desk and water magically flowed from the palm of his hand and began to fill the tank slowly. After it was filled one third of the way, Ace stopped his spell and turned is attention back to his students.

"Now you try," Ace instructed.

Kael - April 27, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
((I really should have asked this first, but I take it that it's perfectly acceptable to use spells here that you don't actually have yet, right?))

It's true that you don't usually see shamans in schools, but seeing as how Kael knew no other shamans that were nearby, this seemed like a good place to go. Infact, he didn't really know anyone nearby.

~Seems easy enough,~ thought Kael, although he hadn't done alot with water. Certainly creating it is a good place to start, and taking it out of thin air is interly possible, even if you don't have magic. I'm unsure of the exact process, but it's possible.

IF IT'S OK: Kael said the words, made the motions, and for a few seconds nothing happened; but then some water appeared. Not much at first, but it came all the same, although it wasn't as constant as Master Ace had done. Kael looked around to see how the other student had done.

IF IT'S NOT OK: Kael said the words, made the motions, and for a few seconds nothing happened. Then a few more seconds went past, and nothing happened. Kael was beginning to get worried, seeing as how it would be embarassing if he couldn't do it seeing as how Ace had said it was so easy. Not wanting to be embarrased, he laughed quietly and nervously, and tried the spell again. This time a few drops of water fell from his palm, but that could have been the sweat of nervousness.

((EDIT: I put in my request to buy the create water spell. Gee, I hope this is ok... Well, I put in two possible outcomes, so it should be. I hope.))

Nightgazer - May 1, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
((It's fine as long as you are in the process of buying it, which I see in the sales counter. That's what I'm doing as well))

Meera frowned, she hadn't created water in a while. Sure, she did know how to do it, but the knowledge had been pushed to the back of her mind since she didn't use the spell much. Taking a deep breath though, she placed her hands over the tank and willed there to be water in it while muttering the words. She was so tense that only a small ammount came out at first, but realizing what was happening, she loosened up and relaxed a bit for trying again. This time, she was able to fill it up enough that it was most likely sufficient for the next spell that they would probably cast. She reassured herself that if she needed more, she could always put more in. She smiled, she was happy she didn't embarrass herself. She knew she could do well with embarrassment, but it didn't mean that she didn't feel it.

Slowly, she took a peek to see how Kael seemed to be doing. She was happy to see that he was able to do it to. She never liked being way better than someone. It gave her a feeling like she was sick to her stomach whenever that happened. Then she returned both her gaze and attention to Ace for information on what they were doing next. She hoped that it would be something she knew pretty well. She didn't want to have an accident. She especially did not want to possibly harm anyone with any accident that could happen. She knew that most likely any of the spells she could cast would not do much damage, but around her, there always seemed to be a higher probability of the unexpected happening.

Master Ace - May 20, 2005 02:41 AM (GMT)
Master Ace was pleased to see that both of them could successfully cast the spell, and on their first try as well. As Ace watched Kael cast the spell he wondered if he should purposefully make his spells weaker than he normaly casted them. It would help promote self-esteem rather than diminish, though there still was the chance of dealing with those who who had too much self-esteem in their egotisical heads. Course he was afterall the magister and the archmage training master and expected to be at a certain standard. Down sizing his magic was not something he was going to add to his routine.

"Alright, that's good. Now we will move on. The spell's will get more complicated from here so get ready. The next spell will be waterspout a spell only usefull when you have a liquid you want moved. If there is enough liquid it can come out with a great amount of force, but we don't have much water and If I guess correctly neither of you have fully mastered this spell. Remember that the first or second try isn't always the one which will work," Ace said before casting waterspout. The water rose in a small beam as if it were being sent through a fountain. After reaching the peak not to far out of the tank the water caascaded down the sides of the beam as more water rushed upward. Master Ace waved his hand moments later bidding them to begin and dissmissing his spell. The fountain stoped abrubtly and the water fell down back into the tank.
