Title: Lost in the true plane?!

Aaron - April 1, 2005 08:33 AM (GMT)
Aaron had once again blundered while planewalking, with not very severe consequences - he'd randomly arrived at some grassy plains he'd never seen before in his life. A gryphon or two flew above, unusual for such a place, but who honestly cared? Not Aaron Haralte, certainly. He made a show of desperation while looking around for anything he recognised, but really he didn't have a problem with it - the stuff in his robe would make a good pile of gold sold to anyone, and the farmers out here would probably have a vested interest in the magical substance Aaron had bagged for a few coins. Guaranteed to make any plant grow to a vast size... He walked over to the nearest thing resembling civilisation, since animals were at best difficult to get a profit out of and Aaron needed money for the scrolls he was learning magic from.

Ember - April 1, 2005 01:40 PM (GMT)
Sitting in a cleared field not far from where the name was walking was a young woman in her early twenties. It was nearly mid-day and the sun had dried up most of the fields, leaving the ground solid once again after being soaked by the melted winter snow. The sun was shining bright, it almost looked to make the woman glow magically. An odd orange fire outlining her body as she sifted through a large bag of coins which laid on the ground in front of her. The swift winds of spring had taken up her long ebony hair, which appeared to be on fire as it wavered in the winds, engulfed in the same magical glow that her body was in.

First hearing the man walking closer, she stopped counting the coins and looked up through her eyelashes, her head not moving from it's downward position as she wanted to keep a good eye on her gold, unsure of what treacherous villians might be lurking out in these fields. For the most part it had been relatively quiet, though now it seemed that she wasn't alone.

"Don't expect to see many passing through these parts." She closed the bag slowly, tying a the thin cord which held the top closed in two knots before scooping it up then tying it around the cord of her belt and slipping it into an over sized pocket. Lifting her head now, she watched him closely, her large amber eyes untrusting to the man who she had not yet met before. Lifting her head.

"Especially not alone." Ember kept her eyes on him as she stood, brushing the earth from the back of her tan dress. She didn't feel like making a scene today, she just wanted to protect what was her own. The farmers in the area and from Kellen had been more than generous when she had sold them magical mixture earlier in the day. It had been difficult work forcing up a smile over the stench of animal, doing her business so that she could gather whatever gold she needed to purchase the few books the needed for school. She wasn't about to lose today's hardwork to thieves.

Aaron - April 1, 2005 03:51 PM (GMT)
Aaron kept going slowly towards the farm in spite of what the woman was saying; he wasn't about to be put off because someone thought him a thief. However, he did not rudely ignore her or anything; while on his way, he decided to clear things up.
"Well, I travel alone, and I didn't expect to end up here."
Like usual, Aaron was telling the truth. If he hadn't gone the wrong way while trying to reach some village around here, he wouldn't have ended up in the middle of a plain. The problem with planewalking in his opinion was the fact you could go miles off course with a few steps. He kept onward until he was only a metre or two from the woman and not much further from the farm.
"I'm just a trader. I got this fertiliser a couple days ago, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying."

Ember - April 1, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
A wicked curl of a smile spread over her face, her eyes narrowing odiously toward the man, their color dull. It seemed that she had wonderful timing today, reaching these farmers just before this trader had. Ember debated a moment on telling him whether or not she had sold them the magical mixture or not and decided against it for the time being.

"You should be careful in these parts, I hear that thieves like to roam about. I wouldn't go telling just anyone what it is you are and what you have to sell. It leaves you vulnerable for attack." The man barely stopped though he had spoken to her and he little more than looked her way as he continued along his path toward the farms. It's good that I don't tell him, he's a bit unfriendly anyway. I wouldn't want to stir up trouble with him right now. Not when it's his payment I hold. Ember was sure that she had stolen his sales, slightly aroused by the thought.

Watching the man as he walked, Ember brushed back her glowing locks then crossed her arms across her abdomen in an attempt to settle herself. She pondered what he might do if he came up empty handed at the farm houses, finding that he was only a few hours late of proper payment. It would surprise her greatly if these farmers would buy even more 'fertilizer' for their fields.

Unintentionally she was staring him down, her amber eyes narrowed as she watched his every move with care. "Good luck with your sales today. I'm sure the farmers will be thrilled to find such a fine trader in these parts." Her words were lies, she secretly hoped for his displeasurement, knowing very well that she had sold to the farmers earlier that day. She was stifling a laugh now, forced to cover her mouth with one hand as the other remained wrapped around her waist. Little sound escaped her though as she calmed herself to a more serious look as to not appear too suspicious.

Aaron - April 1, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
Aaron showed some happiness at the woman's wishing him good luck. However, there is little you can do to fool a man whose lifespan makes elves look like mayflies; he could sense her laughter at something. Forget trading, this is more interesting. Dropping the fertiliser like it was a worthless deadweight, Aaron stopped and turned back to look at the woman. It wasn't as if he was sure anything fishy was going
"Well, I see you're amused about something. Mind letting me in on the joke? I've got all day anyway, I can wait till the cows come home and still have time to sell this stuff to any farm on the plain."
Any trace of impatience that was in his voice before had gone. He didn't care whether or not he was late for any sales, he just needed to fill in time with something to do.

Ember - April 1, 2005 09:56 PM (GMT)
As the man stopped and turned, her eyebrow raised with intrigue. Apparently she had done something to attract his attention. Perhaps it was the laughter.. I'll admit, it was a bit much. A mischievous grin glowed across her face, lighting up her eyes as she casually shrugged his question away, doing her best to look as though she had no idea what he was talking about now. Innocence, that is something I could surely use at this moment. The thought only encouraged her grin, it growing wider across her delicately bronzed face.

"I have told no joke, you haven't missed a thing." Proudly she lifted her chin in his direction, eying the bags of fertilizer he had dropped upon the ground. It tugged at her curiosity to know more about what he carried. She stood in her place, still watching him from a distance, a moment passed as she worried whether or not in the future. The thought of having trouble when crossing his path crossed her mind, but that thought quickly diminished as her eye again lifted to his.

"But since you have all day, perhaps you wouldn't mind sharing what's inside the bag? I'm sure a rich looking trader like yourself would know better than to sell just any ordinary fertilizer to these farmers. You and I both know they have plenty of their own to go around." Ember teased him a bit now, playing off her words in a more appeasing manner than she had when she first caught sight of him, still satisfied with herself and the way he had turned about.

Aaron - April 2, 2005 07:51 AM (GMT)
"'Well it's either have plenty normal stuff or not farm animals."
Aaron shrugged, walked back to where he'd dropped the bag, picked it up again and walked over to the woman. He wasn't scared to share the contents - he didn't exactly have anything to hide there - but he did wonder what use the info would be to anyone not interested in buying the contents. He dumped the bag and didn't open it, believing this woman would not want to be forcibly shown a pile of crap.
"A few kilograms of enchanted cowpat. I feel sorry for the guys who made this stuff."
You'd have to be mad to gather up that stuff and enchant it, why does anyone bother... Aaron stopped his thought there when he remembered he was carrying this stuff to sell it. Not that he really needed the money, except for spells.

Ember - April 6, 2005 12:18 AM (GMT)
Her lips pursed as she did her best not to grin right in front of him, her eyebrows raising as she looked down at the bag he had so kindly dumped right in front of her. She was curious unto the enchants of the cowpat, perhaps she would have a bit of competition after all, something she wasn't thrilled with in the least.

"So you enchant this stuff yourself then? It'd be a horrible job and I bet the price is high." Allowing the grin to shine through again, Ember looked a bit coy. The faint glow of orange flickering as she twirled a long strand of black hair around her finger. The thought of haggling his price down to sell the fertilizer herself crossed her mind. If his price is lower than my seller's, this might just be a very profitable afternoon.

"So long as it is as good as you imply it will be that price might be justifiable." Suddenly Ember didn't sound convinced that he indeed had the goods she wanted or for that matter anyone else would want. The smirk had quickly faded only to be replaced by a set of serious eyes and a mouth that had puckered to the side while she bit the inside of her cheek.

Aaron - April 14, 2005 07:29 PM (GMT)
"This stuff could grow plants on bare rock in Hell. And I don't enchant it, I just feel sorry for the guys that do."
Aaron decided inside he wouldn't deal in fertiliser again - it wasn't worth the trouble of carrying crud around Imythess with no thought other than profit. Since he had this stuff anyway, all he wanted was to get rid of it - a profit would be nothing more than a bonus. It wasn't long before he noticed the woman smirk and turn serious, making him wonder about her real motives. She didn't sound too convinced that he had genuine wares.
"This stuff is the real deal, but it's a one off, I need the cash. Just out of interest, is there any reason why you're sitting in the middle of a clear field with nothing better to do than talk to an incredibly old trader?"
Aaron knew he'd let slip sooner or later, but his body looked a lot younger than he said he was. Probably she'd get suspicious, but what did he care?
