Title: A Lesson in Speed
Description: More than 1 student would be nice
Astalder - March 28, 2005 03:06 PM (GMT)
Astalder stood on a marble path and next to him as a stone well. On his other side were several wooden poles and some wooden buckets with metal handles. The buckets were filled to the top with water from the well. Astalder stood like a statue in the slight breeze. His arms were folded across his chest and his white wings were spread wide. Blade of Lightning was tucked securly in his belt, but was not sheathed. His sheathe was else where in the Orodreth Ancalimë dormitories.
This was Astalder's first day as Imythess' Weapons Master. His first student(s) would be learning the art of speed. How he won his battles mostly had to do with his speed. Sure his wings were helping him a lot more now, but before his wings, his quickness was what won him his fights.
Astalder hoped more people would come then they had at his guild. Then again he supposed it was ok that just one person came to this one. He isn't expecting to teach all of Imythess, but he had expected to teach everyone in Orodreth Ancalimë.

Meera ran her hands through her long brown hair. Her eyes were only partailly open, for there was nothing to be seen. Her back slumped downwards as she rested her head on her elbows. Today was a virtually eventless day. She had seen no one, nor thought to go anywhere. While sitting down, she began to think of any places that she had not yet visited and places that would probably consume the time in most of her day. Having such a short attention span, Meera's mind wandered off of places and onto friends. She began to wonder what her friends had been up to. Many of them she hadn't seen in what felt like ages. Suddenly, while her mind went over Ace, she began to think of the Academys. She hadn't visited there. With rejuvinated energy and a newfound will to do something with her day, she stood up and started walking in the direction of the Academy. She began to wonder who she might see there, but she could not tell for sure until she actually arrived. When she finally got to the academy, she didn't see anyone. But as she turned her head, she caught sight of the back of a person with wings. Possibly an angel, but one could never tell these days. Besides, she wasn't an angel but yet, she still had wings.
She began to walk up to the man. Finally standing behind him, she lightly tapped him on the shoulder and said "excuse me sir can you....." It was then that her mind fully saw the person standing before her. Her mind put the wings and blonde hair togethor knowing that it could only be one person, Astaldar! Instead of waiting for him to turn around, a huge smile lit up on her face and she pounced on his back, hugging him. She said "I haven't seen you in a long time my friend" and laughed then finally jumped off. Still laughing, she calmed down then spoke again, "what are you doing here?"
((like the new signature picture?))

(Sorry it's short. :( )
Tock walked slowly towards the academy. It had been a while since he had his last class in the academy. He did enjoy the lesson that Jarreth tought and was definately showing some improvement since the dismal day he came up to the academy with nothing aside from a wooden sword. Tock had found a pretty shortsword not too long afterward. Tock was slightly saddened to hear that Jarreth no longer taught for the moment. Tock wanted to meet new people couldn't quite muster up the courage to do so. Tock walked even slower as he began to approach the outdoor arena. Fears of the weapons master being mean and clouded his mind.
Tock's mind was finnaly able to rest when he say to people with white wings, brutiful white feathered wings. They seemed so angelic and Tock could not help but think cheerful thoughts. "Hello, Is this where the next class will be held? I'm eager to learn what I can." the short moogle smiled.
Astalder - March 29, 2005 11:21 PM (GMT)
Time was passing by like a hummingbird zipping by his ear. Morning turned to afternoon and his hopes for a student were becoming more and more slim. But hey, it was nothing to worry about. He was a new teacher at the academy and no one has probably even heard of him yet. And yet, Astalder never changed his posture. He was fixated like a statue would be. He would just have to earn some popularity... somehow.
Then, almost has by magic, his doubts were banished. He felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. Only his eyes shifted to his shoulder to see a very tan, almost bronze toned, hand. A voice was heard behind him and Astalder thought he recognized it as Meera's but if it was, why had she not spoke to him like a freind. She had called him sir. Perhaps it wasn't Meera. Right when he was about to turn around, he felt the weight of a human jump onto him, hugging his neck.
Astalder nearly fell over but he caught his balance and held the woman by the legs, in a piggy back fashion. He spun her around laughing for a bit, finally realizing it was Meera before she jumped off. Astalder stretched out his wings for the were ungodly cramped for being tucked in that statue like position all day. He smiled wide and answered her question.
"I'm one of the new teachers at the Acedemy of Arms now. I didn't really care to much for being a Taras City Guard and decided to try something new. You really like showing up when it's my first day on the job, don't you?" Astalder joked.
Then a small pinkish colored Moogle came into the entrance and up to him. Astalder had heard about Moogles in Faitheniir. Noble little creatures, most of them at least. Still smiling, Astalder answered the small one's question.
"I'm not so sure about it being the NEXT lesson, persay. More like the beggining of a trend of lesson's since I am hoping to be your new teacher. You seem like you've been here before. If I ever happen to teach of something already explained to you please tell me. I know how boring learning something for the second time is. Just tell me and I'll gladly think of something else for you, that is if you're willing to be a student of mine. Meera, would you like to be a student of mine as well?" He said turning to Meera.
((OOC: [Tock]: Don't worry about it, mine was just as short. We all have our off posts ;p
[Meera]: It's an excellent picture! Love it :D ))

Meera laughed, her once boring starting day turned out to be exciting after all. She stopped laughing for a second, but when he mentioned the fact that she always turned up on the first day of his job, she had to laugh again. She said "true, I do seem to have a knack for doing that!" and smiled. Then she finally turned to the Moogle. Her eyebrows narrowed in confusion. She had been in a lot of unique places and seen many an unusual creature but this one ceased to bring back a sense of recognition in her memory. She had never seen anything like this before. It was then that she finally realized that she had been staring at the creature and it seemed quite rude. She instantly turned away for a second then her gaze returned to the creature but this time to introduce herself to him properly instead of looking at him like he was a freak. She walked up to him and reached her hand downwards while saying "hello, my name's Meera. Can I ask yours?" Then she heard Astaldar talking once again.
Keeping her hand down so he could shake it if he wished to do so, she turned her head towards Astaldar to show him that she was listening. Realizing that he was talking to the small creature, she only payed half-attention. But when he got to the end of his statement and she heard her name she was able to hear him clearly and answer correctly. She said "of course I would love to be your student," and for fun, she added, "sir, may I ask what you were planning on teaching us?" with a joking smile on her face. She said it in a joking voice but she was truly eager to learn something new and improve whatever skills he was planning on working with. After asking the question, instead of properly waiting for an answer, she returned her attention to the little creature. She wondered how to ask him what he was without offending him or sounding arrogant and snobby. Finally, she decided not to ask him and ulitimately decided to ask Astaldar because it seemed like he knew what the creature was and she was able to ask him without feeling stupid or arrogant.
Tock - April 2, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
Tock noticed that the girl was staring at him mighty strangely, but it was something he was accustomed to both in his home world and this one. The angel atleast did her best to correct herself. She was even kind enough to give her name. Tock smiled as she extended her had down to him as she made her introduction. Tock was about to shake her hand but then the other angel spoke. Tock turned his attention to Alastar as Meera did, but felt bad for leaving Meera hanginng like that.
Tock seriously doubted that Alaster would cover something Tock had already learned. While he had learned a good bit from Jarreth, Jarreth said it was a unique class he was teaching and more so it was the only class Tock had actully ever learned anything from. "Yes sir, I'll gladly be your student and shall tell you if you are covering material I already know," Tock smiled before turning back to Meera.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Meera. I am Tock," Tock replied smiled to Meera as he shook her hand when her attention was returned back to him. Tock found it strange that angel had also been a student when Tock had his class with Jarreth, and now an angel was teaching the class as well. Perhaps the academy was run mainly by angels.
(It is a cute pic meera. Jarreth has it for his summon angelic being. :P )
Astalder - April 2, 2005 11:07 PM (GMT)
((OOC: Shall we have an order? Me, Meera, Tock? Since that was the way you guys entered I mean.))
Astalder noticed Meera staring at the tiny one and he gave her a small nudge with his elbow. Not long they seemed to be freinds already. Astalder was glad to here that both of them wanted to be his students. He hoped to make even greater warriors out of these two than they were. He didn't know much about Tock but he knew Meera was a natural fighter. She was very good with the sword.
Astalder outstretched his arm to Tock to shake his hand as well. "A pleasure to meet you Tock. My name is Astalder." His face suddenly turned very serious and his voice more menacing. He tightened the grip on Tocks hand almost painfully. "But you will refer to me as..." Astalder held Tock's gaze for a while before he began to chuckle. He let go of Tock's and and spoke in a much lighter voice. "You will refer to me as Astalder. I do now require any 'sirs' or 'Misters'. Refering to some one by their first name is a sign of freindship and I hope we can all be freinds here. I apologize if I frightened you Tock." Astalder said truelly, recalling that the Moogle had come in a bit shakey.
Astalder then addressed both of them. "Now if you do not mind, the lesson shall begin now. I require both of you to hand over any weapons, tools, or sharp objects to me. You will not need them this entire lesson..."
Nightgazer - April 3, 2005 02:15 AM (GMT)
((that's what I was waiting to do. I was going to suggest it, but it wasn't my turn so I was going to wait, but since you nailed it first <_< I guess I'll just say sure  also, since everyone's using colored font for the speech I guess I will too.))
Meera smiled at Tock and said "Pleased to meet you as well." and retracted her hand back after he had finished shaking it. Meera took a small step backwards to give Astaldar and Tock some room when Astaldar introduced himself. She listened while Astaldar spoke and gave a small snort when he joked with Tock. By now, she was used to his often red herrings about his personality. She was lucky that she knew who he truly was or else she would have been a little freaked out by his sudden change of emotions. She then said in a fake offended way, "you mean I wasn't a friend already?" and placed a fake astonished look on her face to play along. She couldn't stay that way for long though. She quickly returned to normal and became serious as she listened. She normally loved humor in any situation, but for now she would listen and learn, only adding lightheartedness where she felt appropriate.
She heard Astaldar's direction to put away all of her weapons. She was a little confused and curious as to why he was asking them to do this, but she did it anyway. She unsheathed her water sword and dagger, laying them on the ground next to eachother. Then she pulled off her bow and quivver of arrows on her back. After that she had to think for a second to remember if she had anything else on her. She did indeed remember her aniversary dagger, but she did not take that out, she chose to keep it on her. Always at her ankle, just in case anything were to happen. She hated to be unprepared. Once she finished disarming, she turned to Astaldar again, awaiting direction.

( hehe, sorry it took so long)
Tock freightened indeed by Astalder's sudden change of mood, though he did his best not to show it, which didn't help matters much. Tock was relieved to hear Astalder return to a lighter tone, after a few seconds of felling as if his heart would cowardly jump out of his throat. He kinda of liked his idea of first name basis over Jarreth idea of sirs and misters, though he recognized that both had good points. "Oh and you didn't freigten me really...hehe funny though," Tock lied hoping not to make Astalder feel bad. "It is a great pleasure," Tock smiled, attempting to recover from his fright.
Tock didn't have much to hand over to Astaldar. He had brought both his metal shortsword and his wooden one in his bookbag and that was all he owned. Tock simply took off his backpack and handed it to Astaslder. He was curious of what the weapon's master would be teaching it there were no weapons really involved. He listened eagerly for further instruction from Astaslder.
