After defeating the rouge drow, Bruenor and Ranoth crept along the passages. Bruenor stopped to rest while Ranoth scouted ahead. When after a while Ranoth didn’t return Bruenor went of in search of his friend. As he rounded a corner he came face to face with a crossbow and several sword blades. Six drow stood blocking the tunnel one holding Ranoth, bound and gagged. As one of the drow grabbed Bruenor he muttered, “Oh Cute..”
********
The drow walked them along a path after a very short trip the trail ended, and Menzoberranzan started. As they were led into the dark elf city Bruenor could only feel as if he had failed his brother. Ranoth on the other hand knew better. He had heard their captors talking and found out that they would be taken right to Quenthico’sun in her throne room. A death would be tricky but it could be pulled off. The drow caravan stopped and one muttered some arcane words. The drow and their catches vanished in a flash of light, and reappeared in a throne room. When they appeared the were in a throne room and there before them stood her, Quenthico’sun.
“So good of you to come.” she purred.
Bruenor and Ranoth faced Quenthico’sun and Quenthico’sun stared back, not showing any sign of stopping and running. It was not much of a surprise. Ranoth thought Bruenor was showing incredible self-restraint. It was a few minutes before Quenthico’sun made a move to break the trance. She yelled to a few human slaves to untie the pair, and give them all their equipment back. Bruenor was surprised, but Ranoth thought it was quite predictable.
"I wan't to be amused," she stated her voice like steel. She then put her one hand up and wove an intricate pattern using the drow’s hand communication. Ranoth caught most of it: They ruined me…Attack! Out of nowhere four drow came out of hiding. There were two who wielding scimitars, one who had two long daggers; holding them backhand, and the last was a male wizard, which surprised Ranoth, as males were not usually held high enough to be bodyguards. Ranoth expected this much, as even his mother had personal bodyguards. The wizard and the assassin stayed back, and the two scimitar wielding warriors charged Ranoth.
Bruenor went into his primal rage, and charged Quenthico’sun. She grabbed her whip with double snake heads from her belt and tried to hit Bruenor, the snakes hissed as they failed to bite into the flesh of the dwarf. The fight went back and forth not producing much of a result.
Ranoth was having an easy time with the two drow. He tried to prolong the fight giving Bruenor more time to kill the evil drow matron mother. He occupied both the drow by parrying, but finally got bored and went offensive. He stabbed with his katana, and missed because of the agility of the guard. Ranoth kicked at the guard knocking him to the ground, and slashed the other, leaving a tear in his clothes and a red stain surrounding it. Ranoth came around counter-clockwise with his dagger hand hitting the guard with the butt end of dagger and quickly came back the other way, stabbing the guards neck, and fell to the ground. The other who was knocked down was up again and slashing, fighting for his life, and for a fair sum of gold most likely. Ranoth was hit once on his shoulder, but only tightened his grip on the dagger. Through the pain, Ranoth slashed once, twice with the katana, and thrice with the dagger, scoring two mortal wounds and a fair sized gash. The guard fell to it’s knees soon to bleed to death.
Bruenor and Quenthico'sun continued their stalemate. They both suffered from minor wounds, bleeding in a dozen places. Bruenors fight was rage tempered by skill. Quenthico'sun's was saving her skin fueled by fear. Quenthico'sun showed signs of tireing but Bruenor continued chopping.
Ranoth now faced the wizard and assasin. The assasin stalked toward him with a gleam in his eye. Ranoth knew he could take the assasin but not the wizard. The assasin charged both blades sweeping to the right, when Ranoth went to parry one dagger changed direction coming toward Ranoth's waist. Ranoth's dagger came sweeping down blocking the offending weapon. Both fighters stepped back from each other with a little bit more respect then before the conflict.
Quenthico'sun's snake whip lay on the ground dead, both heads mangeled. She now used a fine sword. Bruenor had been keeping an eye on Ranoth so when he saw the wizard casting he punched out, stunning Quenthico'sun and threw his hand axe. The wizard, not having thought to put up a shield fell to the ground, an axe in his head. Now Bruenor founght with his axe and a stolen sword.
When Ranoth saw the wizard fall he knew that his workload was lessened. Now all he had was the assasin. As Ranoth was thinking the assain charged back in both daggers out wide, hoping to impale Ranoth. As they closed together they caught only air Ranoth having stepped back. The assasin realized his mistake, as he felt cold steel slip between his ribs, ending his exsiantce.
Bruenor and Quenthico'sun had been exchanging blows for a while. When she saw her last guard fall and the hate and determination in her opponents she tried to disingage and teleport away. Her hand reached to her belt and then was stuck to the wall, Ranoth's dagger impaling her hand. Bruenor's axe came in soon after that severing a leg. Blood pooled on the ground under the former matron mother. Bruenor walked over to her, looked her in the eye and yelled, " TOGAR!!!" as he swund his axe into her head. As Quenthico'sun's eyes rolled back into her head Bruenor said, " Bet that hurt."
Ranoth stood facing Bruenor. " How are we going to get out this time?" he asked.
"Same way we did last time." Bruenor replied as he pulled the teleportaion scroll form Quenthico'sun's belt. In a flash of light both friends dissapered reapering on the surface and the begining of their new lives.
The end of the death of Quenthico'sun.
