Ahren - March 12, 2005 05:49 AM (GMT)
Ahren stood on a rock in the center of the falls, right on the edge, giving him a good view. His new sword hung loosely as his side, and his bow was across his back. The wind was raging around him, but only within a few feet of him. Once you got about six feet away from him on any side the wind died down, returning to it's calm state. Ahren had the wind spinning around him, though he was keeping it slow enough so that it didn't pick up the surrounding water and form a waterspout. His wings were folded flat against his back, and his eyes were closed. With his hands by his side, it looked as though he could have been sleeping were it not that his mouth was moving. He was uttering a new spell every couple of seconds, practicing as much as he could to sharpen the abilities that had been granted to him by the wind.
Reaching down, he drew his sword with his eyes still closed, drawing upon it's magical abilities. He soon had the wind racing around in various patterns, continually moving. He also, summoned up a billowing mist that soon covered the entire waterfall edge. Using the summoned wind, he collected the mist, pulling it together into a compact ball. Satisfied, he released the wind and sheithed his sword, planning his next move carefully. Strengthening the winds swirling around him, he increased their speed, concentrating on holding them firm. If they got out of hand, then he was at their mercy. With his eyes closed, he couldn't see the waterspout forming around him, racing up the tunnel of wind.
Eden - March 13, 2005 05:03 AM (GMT)
Eden had gone for a flight early that morning to start the day off. He was in a particularly good mood this day and he did not want anything to happen that would his glee. The wind was brisk in the high air. The sun was just rising up above the mountains that hid the Memphian Falls. The bright orange glow made it seem as though the sun were lazy to rise. Birds could be seen flying through the branches of trees, communicating with one another. Eden was high up now with the sunlight beating it’s way into his eyes. He lowered his altitude of flight and glided in the shade of the mountain. As he flew he picked up the scent of water. The lake was near by. The water falls could be heard not too far off. Eden now raced to the spot. He felt like taking a quick dip to refresh himself. As he made his way, he heard an abnormal sound of pattern in the wind and in the water.
Eden finally made it to the falls. A man was standing on the edge of the rock in the middle of the water fall. His eyes were closed and it seemed that he were asleep, only until Eden noticed that his lips were moving. Eden thought about going up to the man, but then decided against it after assuming that the man was in deep meditation. He stood there looking at him, wondering if he would fall over and become soaked in the water or stay there for countless hours. Eden noticed that the wind was moving very rapidly around the stranger and could see it in motion. The water was being picked up and formed and spout. It stretched to the sky and did not seem to stop. Eden now sat on the ground, smiling at the wonderful show of power over the air. He put his hands together and lightly clapped. He was giving the man applause.
Ahren - March 13, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
Standing within the waterspout, Ahren opened his eyes, looking around at the power that was spinning around him. The water roared, filling his hearing with nothing else. He stood there for a few moments before the wind brought a new sound to his ears, the sound of someone clapping. Stopping the wind, he thrust it outward, forcing the collapsing waterspout away from him. Turning, he spotted the stranger seated on the shore. Looking around, he noticed that some of the water was still moving. Sighing silently, he released the spinning air, stopping the wall of wind that was around him. It had become such a part of him, that he often forgot about it. Keeping his sword in his hand, he spread his wings, lifting off of the rock. He hovered just above the water's surface, making his way over towards the bank. Landing lightly, he walked forward a few steps, holding his sword loosely in his right hand. He watched this stranger with interest, wondering who he was, and why he was clapping at Ahren.
Finally, Ahren put his sword back into the scabbard that hung from his waist. He would still be ready to defend himself if he needed to. He hoped that he wouldn't have to fight, he really wasn't in the mood, but he would if he needed to. "Hello, what brings you out here to the falls?" Ahren new it sounded a little pathetic for a first greeting, but he was tired. He had been on that rock for several hours, he was ready to rest. He tried not to let it show though, if this person was an enemy, it would only give him more reason to try and attack him. "I am Ahren Elessedil, might I know your name." Ahren bowed slightly, still keeping the stranger in his line of sight. Straightening up, he waited for a reply.
Eden - March 14, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
Eden stood to his feet as he saw the stranger coming to him. He was hovering over the lake with his wings spread out. He was an angel, or at least he looked like one. He did not seem to be a full angel, there were some things about his face that would make one think other wise. There was a smile on Eden’s face, just as usual. While he got to his feet he brushed off the sand from his back side and looked up once more, waiting to see when the stranger of the wind would arrive. There he landed on the shore near Eden. He greeted himself and Eden nodded his head in polite response. Just then he spread out his wings to show that he meant no harm and only friendship. With his wings still spread out, Eden looked into the man’s eyes and said,
“Hello to you Ahren. My name is Eden Bottesuai. I come to the shore for an early adventure.”
Eden then lowered his head and stepped out with his right foot, having it just six inches ahead of his left foot. He placed his right hand on his stomach and his left hand on the small of his back. With his wings still spread out, he bowed do to him, greeting himself. His head was low to the ground so that his hair was dangling in the sand. He took his eyes and looked back up into the stranger’s eyes. Eden straightened himself out and smiled. He extended his hand out to his in order to have a warm hand shake.
“It is a pleasure to meet you, brother.”
Ahren - March 14, 2005 11:52 PM (GMT)
Ahren took the hand, shaking it once before letting it go. He was still watching Eden carefully, but he wasn't as concerned. Most people would have attacked while they had been shaking hands. Still, he sent the winds to search the surrounding area, looking for anyone that might be with Eden. After waiting a few seconds, the winds returned, bringing only the sounds of the forest. No people, nothing that shouldn't be. "So, are you also a half-angel. It is rare to see a winged person that isn't someway related to the celestials." Ahren spread his own wings, watching Eden with interest. The only other person that Ahren had met so far was Airie, but then again, she was the Goddess of Air, so in theory, she could look like whatever she wanted to.
"I'd be careful, even a place such as this has it's dangers, and you carry no weapons that I can see." Ahren once again manipulated the air around him, bringing a cool breeze to wash over him. The sun was bright, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. He hadn't noticed the heat while he had been over on the rock, but now it had become apparent. "Unless you have many spells that can help you, I suggest that you get one of those two things. Though a weapon would be better, even spells run out eventually." Ahren watched to see how he would take the criticism/advice, it would help Ahren to see what kind of person Eden was.
Eden - March 15, 2005 12:09 AM (GMT)
As always, Eden could not help but smile. The advice that his new friend had given him showed that he cared for him, at least a little bit. Eden took the advice and smiled. He was right about having a weapon on him. Eden was thinking to himself that he should get one, until he realized that he already had one in his possession. He reached down and back. His mace was strapped to the back of his shoulder. He took the leather strap off and wielded his mace. It was a poor weapon, given to him by some commoner when he arrived at Imythess. He looked at it and handed it to Ahren. He trusted him that he would not do anything, as Eden saw that he was suspicious of him.
“Thank you for the advice. I have only two spells, and those two do no damage to an enemy. I do have a mace as you no can see. It was given to me by some commoner when I arrived here at Imythess. I am grateful for this. I did not even get to know his name. I think I will be getting a new weapon soon.”
Eden stretched out his arms while he let Ahren take a look at his mace. The day was beautiful and warm. Droplets of sweat made their way down his face. He took his cloak and wiped his face clean of the sweat. He looked out at the lake and then back at Ahren.
“So would you mind showing me what you were doing back there. I must say that I am impressed.”
Ahren - March 15, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
Ahren took the mace, hefting it in his hands, feeling the weight of it. It seemed strange to Ahren that an angelic being would use a mace, then again, he hadn't met many angels. "I never was one for maces, I much prefer the bow. This sword is only for those few that make it inside the range of my bow. He gave the mace back to Eden with a nod, any weapon was better than none. Taking the bow from his back, he felt it's familiar weight, glad that he had been able to obtain a weapon of it's quality. Looking at his quiver, he realized he would need to make some more arrows soon. He liked to keep plently of arrows ready should he need them, and his quiver wasn't even half full. "I don't mean to be rude, but I rarely let my bow leave my possession, it is very precious to me." He hoped that Eden wouldn't take offense, but he wasn't about to give up his bow.
Smiling a bit at the mention of what he had been doing, he looked back at the waterfall. "I wouldn't mind showing you what it was, though if you plan on being able to do such a thing, it will take you some time." With a smile, he walked to the water's edge, drawing his sword as he went. He didn't need the sword, but it helped strengthen his power. Summoning his magic, he brought the air aorund him to the surface of the water. Setting the wind spinning, he created some air so that he could continue to feed the vortex he was creating. The air soon sucked up the water, creating another waterspout. When he judged he had enough water, he lifted the air up, keeping it moving fast enough that the water stayed with it. He soon had a whirlwind of air several feet off the ground. Once again, he stopped it, and the water fell down, back into the river.
Eden - March 18, 2005 03:11 AM (GMT)
Eden watched as his new friend Ahren examined his mace. He seemed to be the type that prefered not to use maces. Eden grabbed the heavy weapon back when Ahren handed it over to him. He was glad to have it back in his hands. Eden had grown a strange relationship with the mace. It was a part of him. Even though it was not a master work weapon, Eden thought that he would not be able to give it up for a new one. Ahren responded to Eden by saying that his bow was dear to him and he wished not to give it up. Eden could not help but smile and chuckled softly and said,
"I understand that it is precious to you. If you wish not to let me see it then so be it. I am attatched to mine own weapon also. I must say by the looks of your boow, it is a very well crafted item."
Eden watched as Ahren created another water spout. He was over by the shore now and he was feeding it with new that he himself created. The show of power he has demonstrated was impressive. Eden only wanted to learn more of this power now that he has seen it effect.
