Title: Little Wyrm's Flight
Description: Open to All

Laoura - February 24, 2005 03:51 AM (GMT)
((Very much an open RP. All welcome/wanted. Just a nice casual RP. Sorry beforehand if I fall behind in replying...))

Moonlight cast the ruins in bright silver light. For some reason the stars seemed extra bright this quiet night. Nothing seemed to be about as far as living beings were concerned, but that could have had to do with the predator winging it's way overhead.

The dragon was small as far as the way dragons came, and serpentine, with a whiplike tail following it's spiraling path as she swirled overhead.

By the stars flight was a wonderful thing! Laoura thought as she went ever higher, using the warm currents of air to fill her large wings, allowing her to fly with relative ease, flapping only occasionally.

Soon she wasn't much more than a dark shape against a lighter dark sky. The draconic form she had taken was a variation of the different dragons she knew of and took the body of one of the rare eastern dragons, the head of a drake, and the wings of the great soaring dragons of the plne of air. Her form was covered in silvery scales along the belly and darker blue ones down her back and along her spine were several rows of silver quills.

Again time had been her silent enemy, passing quietly, avoiding her gaze until she realized it had once again been much too long since she had actually set foot (or wing) on the face of Imythess, the land she resided over. Battles on other planes had consumed her, much as it had done to the Old Gods who had turned their backs long ago on Imythess. She refused to simply give up her rule, though and now the matriarch chose to give up on those fights this night to enjoy something as simple as flight, a power that she much too often took for granted.

Of course she had flown many times before, and even done so on Imythess in the time her true self had been gone in the form of her several avatars, but such a thing was not the same as feeling the cool air fill one's own wings.

A while after spiraling upward, she looked down. Laoura hadn't realized how high she had flown, the ruins barely discernable against the darkness of the trees that surrounded them, threatening to choke the ruins out.

With the cry of a hunting falcon, Laoura dove downwards, lean body and whippy tail contorting with the wind, sometimes hitting gusts head on, making her wince over shining black eyes.

Just before the point of no return, she opened her wings, straining to brake her wild descent that had lasted much too shortly than it should have. Free falling was possibly better than flying, the goddess decided, flapping twice against the wind, slowing her even more.

Now that control was her's once again, Laoura flew over to the remains of a wall, still taller than the height of a man, but definitely decreased in size since the Old Days. She landed feet first and settled comfortably, thinking of those days when this was once a powerful kingdom, way before her time. She knew the story, but not many now did... Maybe someday she would inspire a writer or librarian to write it and add it to the great library in Taras.

As she thought of these things, she began preening her quilled back and wings in true draconic fashion, nothing more than a little wyrm resting after a hunt followed by a flight for the mere purpose of joy, mocking those who did not have the means to do so.

Kore Takamura - February 24, 2005 05:04 AM (GMT)
A dark night illuminated by the bright moonlight brought him out to this place, the place where he knew there was much history behind, and maybe something more. For now he would never know, but travelling through this place did make him feel at home...somewhat.

His chainmail shone brightly where his surcoat did not cover it. Taking Kamahl- his loyal nightmare, out for a ride, he saw the same old crumbled walls he's always seen and imagined what it used to be before all of it collapsed to ruin. With a shrug, Kore assumed it must've been quite a place for it to be destroyed in such a way.

Not only did the level of destruction aide him in this assumption, but the many whispers of the souls that still dwelled here made his guesses even more valid. Everywhere he passed all he saw were the insubstantial walkers of this land. He nodded in aknowledgment and even spoke a "hello" or two here and there. But something seemed different.

He noticed a small child looking to the sky. Wondering what would catch the attention of a spirit that much must be something impressive. Stopping Kamahl to a halt, he hopped off and approached the kid.

"Hello young one, may I ask you what you're looking....at?" He said as the kid pointed to the sky, and Kore looked up and saw a wyrm, but it didn't look like a regular wyrm.

"That wyrm right there....thats actually a goddess." The kid whispered as the both of them watched the aerial acrobatics of this goddess. Growing tired of standing, he laid down on the ground and looked on. He was quite amused and impressed by how deftly this "wyrm" cut througth the sky under the moon.

When the wyrm landed and all he could think of who it was. He rose to his feet and approached it. Only a few feet away, he whistled softly, but audible enough for the wyrm to hear. He took the kid's word and was going to address it as goddess, but if the child was wrong, it wouldn't be any problem for as far as he knew, wyrms did not speak english and would just look at him strangely.

"That sure was something. You even had the spirits of this old town watching in awe. But I'm sure you do this all the time. I wonder though, who you actually are, for you seem to unique to be an ordinary wyrm."

Laoura - February 24, 2005 04:35 PM (GMT)
The wyrm blinked a couple of times, watching Kore even before he had whistled, cocking her head to the side in curiousity. The spirits, she had forgotten would have had the ability to see her true aura and if this man was on good terms with these spirits, it must have been simple enough to speak to them. If she had remembered to do so, she could have shielded herself from them. It didn't truly matter though. She wasn't focusing on stealth this night, just enjoyment.

"Clever," she complimented, using the almost musical voice of the form she wore. "for you are correct, I am much more than I appear. Not many, though would approach the restless dead." It was more of a guess than a statement. She hadn't yet reached into his mind. She didn't use that power frequently, preferring to let mysteries reveal themselves with time. "You must be brave to do so."

Most mortals were needlessly terrified of ghosts and that was putting it lightly. Most never even bothered to learn of a spectrum's desire, whether it be good or ill. It was true that some ghosts preyed off of the fear of the living, but others were simply spirits who had yet to find the way to the Next Life, like most of the former inhabitants of the former city.

She delayed telling him who she really was, though. Eventually she planned to shed her guise, but decided to let him wonder for a bit. He obviously knew what she was, just not who.

Kore Takamura - February 25, 2005 02:51 AM (GMT)
*He rubbed the back of his head when she noted his cleverness. The little boy who had been sitting with him had decided to tag along to see the goddess. The little kid had tugged on his shirt a little, making him look to him.*

"Excuse me mister, but why do you only have one arm?"

*Kore chuckled at the little kid's questions, but he figured there was no harm in amusing him, for even a dead child is still a child. He knelt down smiled at the child. He had glanced over at the goddess and winked*

"Oh this? I fell down pretty hard and the healer said there was nothing that could be done."

*He knew this was a lie, but he didn't want to burden the already dead child with more tales of woe. The little kid smiled in that childish way that made you not really mind their presence. He was touched though, by how even a spirit can show innocence. Kore then stood up and addressed the goddess. He ran a hand through his hair, then nodded*

"I guess you can call me brave, for some of the things I have done in my life have been considered that. But communicating with the dead is something I've been able to do since I was young, although now that I am older, my skills have also grown similarly. I've been called many things, such as a medium, a necromancer, a demon, an unholy beast of the night- but it doesn't bother me much, just comes with the profession I guess"

*After he spoke he laughed a bit for how many names he realized he has. He was sure she found it amusing as well. As he laughed however he was trying to discern who it could be, for he knew several gods and goddesses, none of which he knew to take the form of a wyrm and fly about on a good night. When he thought about the time she was out, he had an inkling of a clue as to who she was, but in fairness and also curiousity he held his guesses until he was absolutely certain.*

"So fair goddess, what brings you flying on such a night? Probably no more than just something for amusement. I don't blame you either, which is why I ride my nightmare through here a lot- its away from those who are frightened by these lost souls. A good place to think as well for the same reasons as well."

Eden - February 25, 2005 03:18 AM (GMT)
Eden decided to go for a late night's walk that evening in the ruins of the ancient city. He very much enjoyed walking in the night while the moon shined down on the ground. The air was always cool and calm. The slight breeze would always gently touch his face and have him close his eyes to soak in the moment. Eden loved to walk under the moon. He thought of it as his guide, as he never had a true destination while he was on strolls. He could find his peace in the ruins and pray to the gods for everything and anything, which is what he usually did. Eden was in the greatest mood he could be in, for the night was glamorous and refreshing.

Eden was near the outer part of the city. He had just entered a few moments ago and has only been in the ruins for a short time. He passed walls that were fallen crumbled to the ground. He saw buildings that were no more, they had been leveled. Small boulders and rubble were spread out on the ground as he walked by. He looked up to the bright moon and smiled. The bright orb was in its greatest beauty and wonder. Eden said a quick prayer to the gods, not letting his gaze off of the moon.

A small flying creature flew under the moon, its tail whipping in the air. Eden reacted to this with a jump. He was not afraid, he just did not expect what he just saw. He was starting to jump to conclusions and began to think that a fierce dragon like creature was going to devour him. Eden hastened his pace and looked away from the moon and now concentrated on the rest of the sky. He caught a glimpse of the stranger looking once again but lost it, as it was moving too fast. Eden moved near to what was left of a standing wall and hid. He continued to look up and search for this potential danger.

The night was dark, but not dark enough to keep this creature in secrecy. As it was coming down to a wall, shining of silver could be seen as it was positioned in several ways to land. It landed on a wall and stayed there. Eden looked over when he saw movement in the corner of his eye. It was a man. He was walking over to the creature, possibly to examine it. Eden was worried for the man, he did not know what was going to happen. Eden feared for his life. He ran out from the shadow that the wall gave him and started toward the man. He came to a sudden stop when he heard him speak to it. Eden could not make out what he said to the animal, so he moved closer. He remained in the shadows, only the tip of his wings being able to be seen. He placed his hand on the wall next to him, wanting to lean against it. The wall started to shake and then fell to the ground with a loud crash and thud.

Kore Takamura - February 25, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
*The breeze grew some as he waited for her response. He could faintly hear the whispers on the wind as they glided past his body. The wind was cool and quite pleasant. A stronger gust blew and managed to move a good portion of his hair over his face. He laughed slightly and shook his head, getting each strand away from his eyes.* "Many apologies, the wind seems not to like how my hair was."

*He had said with a smirk. He was going to continue to ask this goddess questions until the little kid pulled on his shirt again and whispered to him quietly. Kore turned around and looked around for whatever reason the boy had given him. He looked back to the wyrm and looked into her eyes, wordlessly telling her that something was wrong just by the way the black fire jumped in his eyes as he looked at her momentarily.

He balled his hand into a fist, the temperature in it rising. After a few seconds his hand ignited and he held it up to see better while murmuring in an inaudible tone preparing a spell. He scanned the area slowly, the fire from his hands reflected ominously from his eyes.

For a second, he thought he had saw something, but saw only a small animal suprise him from behind a wall. Kore laughed and turned around to continue his conversation with the goddess. Not even two steps back in her direction did he hear a crash and a crumble. Now fully knowing the location of whatever it was that was here, he jumped in front of the goddess and held his hand out at the location.

For a brief moment, he saw a wing sticking out from the fallen wall. He quirked a brow as he unleashed a fireball at the wing, hoping to scare it out of hiding. The ball left his hand at an amazing speed, cutting through the air at almost a howl. The fireball already on its way, Kore's hand was smoking from the heat, ready to unleash a second, even a third.*

Laoura - February 25, 2005 10:52 PM (GMT)
Laoura was going to respond to Kore's question, but that was about when things began to move rather quickly. She had known that another mortal soul was present in the area and had kept tabs on him from the beginning, but he had been worried about her intentions due to her draconic form.

When Kore caught her eyes, she had gotten his message of something being amiss. She considered stopping the fireball, alarmed that he might be trying to harm whoever it was whose wing was visible, but quickly realized it was not aimed to harm, if the stranger moved quickly enough out of it's trajectory.

She should have expected a dragonslayer or at least someone who had the usual concept of dragons as mindless killers of humanity etched into their minds to have seen her.

Her dark eyes watched, to make sure that no harm came to the stranger until his intentions were revealed. She could always enter the strager's mind and find out who and what he was. But again, mysteries were more interesting when they revealed themselves...

Utinu en' Umbar - February 27, 2005 01:47 PM (GMT)
Utinu's palm touched upon the cold marble of a large pillar. He had no idea where he was now, and he was getting a bit worried. Taking uncertain steps, Utinu's cyan hair flow a bit in the wind. His left hand touched objects nearby to make sure he didn't run into anything as his right held his katana which was flung over his shoulder. He was unfamiliar with these parts of Imythess. In fact, he was unfamiliar with Imythess in general. He didn't know who he could trust though. He had only just recently lost his sight but he was managing well without it.

As the youthful boy walked on he felt a slight twitch in his ear and picked up a small thud that seemed very far away. Utinu scratched at his head wondering if perhaps one of the many pillars had fallen. His pace picked up to a light jog, one hand still in front of his body to stop him from running head on into something. As the small boy jogged on, he could hear the faint murmuring of voices somewhere around. He slowed down to a mere creep, tip-toeing his away closer to the voices.

When he reached a point where he could just make out what the two, or perhaps three, were saying to each other, he felt his way to a large oak tree. He put his back to it and kept his arms in front of him. At this point Utinu noticed a that the group had stopped talking amongst each other. Great... They probably sense some one is present and will be preparing to find shortly... He cursed himself, he must have been too noisey.

He put his foot up against the tree bark and got ready to ick off and flee as fast as possible when he heard chanting. Right as he was about to elude the area he noticed the ball had crashed somewhere to his left. Slowly Utinu lowered his foot to the ground and held his position. He was going to stay their until he was sure these people weren't people bent on destruction. He was too illy equiped so he would not stand much of a chance if fireball's was just an appetizer to them. Utinu's blade as still un sheathed but was in front of him, the tip planted neatly in the dirt in front of him.

Eden - March 1, 2005 02:59 AM (GMT)
Eden screamed as the wall tumbled to the ground. He turned his head very quickly toward them and widened his eyes. A fireball was headed right for him. He ducked and lowered his entire body to the ground. Eden took a dive for the dirt in front of him. He landed on some of the rocks he had accidently knocked over and bruised himself. He lay there moaning from the pain. He fell hard, everything happened so fast, and it still was. He got to his knees very quickly and looked at the man who shot at him. Eden's hand was on his side, now worrying that he may have broken a rib or two from the fall.

"Please. Fire no more. I come in peace. I came here because I thought you may have been in danger. I am only here to do my best to protect you."

Eden tried to get up but fell down from the pain. He was sure that he broke a bone now. Eden un strapped what was holding his mace and let it fall to the ground. He took the handle of the mace and began to lean against it. He brought himself up and looked to where the man was. He met his eyes and smiled. Eden used his tall mace as a cane and made his way to the stranger, not knowing if he would fire again. He held up his other hand in the air to show that he meant no harm.

Kore Takamura - March 5, 2005 06:34 AM (GMT)
*Being edgy, Kore kept his spell ready should whatever he scared rush after him. Fire swirled around his hand, and a bead of sweat from the heat began to form. He wiped it with his other hand and looked as what was hiding was some sort of angelic person.--What's with angels walking the earth? I thought their place was in the clouds...either way, sneaking upon someone like myself is dangerous business.-- He thought. In knowing he was docile by his pleads of peace, he closed his hand into a fist, squelching the fire. Lowering his fist, smoke billowed from it, the energy he had stored there burning out.

Looking very irritated, he stood more relaxed and quirked an eyebrow* If you come in peace, why hide? How would I have known if you were friendly or hostile with you lurking, practically stalking me in the shadows? The next time you pull a stunt like that, whether you're looking out for my own good or not the first thing coming your way won't be a warning shot. And besides, why would you think I was in danger? *He looked around him and saw the many dead that walked around, eyeing the commotion warily.* This place is rather cozy and pretty welcoming.

I may be coming off as harsh, but I personally don't think this is a place for you. Most of the apparitions that remain here are quite jealous of angels, which could lead to hatred, and maybe even problems. For now, since your intentions were pure, I'll tell them to leave you alone. *He turned ninety degrees and looked at the goddess and shrugged* Sorry 'bout the ruckus, I'm just naturally over cautious.

Eden - March 13, 2005 05:15 AM (GMT)
Eden frowned when he was shot at. His ribs were shooting with pain and he could not stand straight. Eden looked at the man, and then at the spirits around him. There were many of them around this place. It would make sense though, since this was a ruined city. Eden walked over to the man and the wyrm. He looked up to the creature and smiled, now noticing something strange about this creature. Eden was puzzled. A man who had a connection with the dead and a strange looking wyrm, crouched on the wall.

“ I apologize about the commotion. I did mean no harm to anything. This creature here. What is it. I know it not to be a normal wyrm. Some thing about makes me think to myself, ‘What is going on here?’”

Eden walked over to the man and the animal, guessing that both are not hostile, and leaned against the wall nearest him. He noticed that the man was talking to the wyrm, making conversation perhaps. He stood there, looking at the two, confuzed and not knowing what to make of this situation.

Utinu en' Umbar - March 13, 2005 03:54 PM (GMT)
Utinu heard as the fireball was released and shattered a nearby wall. Or so he thought. He then heard a very faint, but still audible, crrrack. Someone's bone most have broken during this attack. Utinu tried to keep his breathing normal as a bit of panic slowly entered his body. He was but a young Elf. Although he mustn't be underestimated, he wasn't quite ready for this. He heard someone plead to stop, someone who sounded quite familiar

He listened to the two talk and something interesting caught his ear. Their were spirits about here. Spirits, and undead. Just then he could hear the weazing breaths of something alive... yet dead. A bad aroma filled his nose as he could finally make out that their was an undead staring him dead in the blindfold.

Utinu revealed himself from the tree sword up and pointing to the undead, not sure if he was going to attack or not. One thing was for sure though. Utinu was taught never to attack first, a code he held as the number one rule in fighting. Still keeping his head in the direction where the zombie would be, he shout out.

"Hey! Could you tell these guys to back off me as well? I mean no harm, but all you have is my word on that. I was merely strolling through these parts when I heard the loud crash of something crumbling and the release of a spell. Not really the best way to make a first impression..." Utinu said with a little smile.

Kore Takamura - March 15, 2005 02:38 PM (GMT)
*At the notice of yet another oudsider, Kore grew irate with them. At this point the protection of this goddess was unneccesary, but now he was faced with the challenge to protect two seemingly light aligned men from the dead inhabitants of this land.

He whistled loudly, calling upon his nightmare. Minutes later Kamahl came in all its dark splendor, waiting for his rider to mount before taking off. Petting his steed, Kore looked back at the goddess and shrugged.* "We will meet again, and believe you me, I will find out who you are." *He said with a smirk and a wink. Looking back at the other two, he frowned at thier stupidity and sighed.* "I am done protecting the both of you from the nature of these dead. If you cannot fend for yourself, I suppose you will die. And if you cannot run from them, damnation to this place will be your consequence. I bid you all farewell and good luck, for not even I can keep the fine people of this land at bay forever." *Kore mounted Kamahl and kicked its sides. Neighing loudly he took off into the darkness, the little boy who sat with him running afterwards and waving* Goodbye sir!

Nariwa Kona - March 16, 2005 03:53 PM (GMT)
((wow you guys are good!))

Still exploring this newfound land, Kona took up wondering around aimlessly until he had most of the lands lay inside his memory. So far, he had memorized around half of it, being able to move ate the great amount of speed that came with haveing lighting and light at your disposal. Stopping to take a look around at the scenery, he noticed a small skirmish going on by the ruins a few miles in front of him. Observing the thing the entire time, his interest was piqued at the presence of the Goddes of Night, a powerfull necromancer, a dragonite and a elf all in the same place. ~I had might as well ad to this little party. Could be fun!~ he thought to himself as he sped up and aproached the ruins.

When he reached it a few minutes later, the necromancer had gone and the elf was having it out with a resident. Ignoring that particular situation, Kona approached the Goddess of Night and said "Come to retire from the battlefield for a little my lady?"

Soon many of the jealous inhabitants closed in on him, others scurried away in fear of his holiness. One tried to grab him, but he shoved of the undead with little heed, sending it into a brick wall. "Please excuse me. Undead make me nervous sometimes."
