Mara slipped quietly into the Library. She lowered the hood of her ice covered cloak, and looked around at the large room.
She had never seen so many books in her entire life. Her people had not kept many books, prefering instead to recite the same tales over and over again. She shook her head at the memories. That was behind her now, she was out in the world to gain knowledge, not reminisce about the past.
She walked slowly down the many aisles. She gazed at the books, marvelling at the many colors and sizes. There were so many of them, she didn't know where to begin.
She wandered at random, then selected a rather large book from a shelf. It was covered in leather that had been dyed a dark blue. The title was embossed on the front in silver lettering. It had faded over time, and was barely legible. She tucked the heavy volume under one arm, and walked to the nearest table.
Sitting down, she placed the book on the table before her. She reached for the candle and slid it nearer so that she had more light. The words on the cover sparkled in the candlelight, like stars in a midnight sky.
"KABOOM! A Beginner's Guide to Alchemy" she murmured to herself. I wonder what this "Alchemy" is.
S.O.S came from a dark shadowy corner yawning standing on his very end of his toes with left arm stretched out and his right had covering his mouth as though he had just awaken from a nap, his tail stiff as a redwood tree started to sway back and forth. Still yawning he began to mumble ineligible words to himself. Not noticing that there was a woman present he began to scratch his bottom. His ears twitched and he glances over to her, surprised and embarrassed he smiles showing all of his fangs laughing very quietly. “Forgive me if I interrupted you madam, I did not know anybody was here.” He said, still a little embarrassed. “Is it still snowing?” he asked. He walked over to the nearest window and sighed, “Yes it is still snowing, God must want me to stay in this library a little longer.” He looked over at the elfish woman sitting down at the table to his left. He walked over to her slowly and relaxed with his tail slowly motioning along with his legs and looked at what she had been reading. He spoke quietly “Alchemy …. That is a good topic, don’t know much about it myself , but I bet it has to be good if there is such a big book about it” He took a bow with his head down and his left hand resting on the small of his back and right at his ribs, his tail raised to his shoulder then to the ground. He stood up straight and said “Hello I am Savior Of Souls, but you can call me S.O.S. An you mite be?”
