Title: Dreams and Reality

Kli_Of_Lorian - January 29, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
(dream)
A soft pitter patter of feet echoed through the library, breaking the silence that seemed to loom throughout the place. The noise stopped as a figure stood in the doorway of the library. The figure was hidden under a large cloak that was completely white except for a rose sticking out of the pocket. The rose seemed old, but its petals had not yet come off even though it was dead. The hood of the cloak hid the wearers face, but curls of red came from underneath. Another figure sat in the dark corner, holding her knees to her chest as her blue grey eyes looked up to the figure quietly. Tears started to stream down her face silently. The figure looked just like Kli, only a child! A soft smile grew on Kli's face as she saw this stranger and she got up. Kli stared silently for a while before the figures face was reveiled. A pale, thin face with crystal blue eyes looked at Kli quietly, no sign of joy nor sorrow. "Mother!" Kli cried and ran to embrase her mother, but as soon as Kli had her arms about her mothers waist, her mother dissappeared into thin air. Kli fell to the ground, holding herself tightly as she rocked back and forth to calm herself. She looked to where her mother had stood and saw the rose. She picked it up and stared at the withered petals as they now started to fall off one by one until only the stem was in her small little hand.

(Real life)
Kli woke up, staring at the ceiling of the library. Her face covered in the salty tears that she had made. She sat up and held her knees to her chest, sitting in the same corner she was sitting in, in her dream. She wiped away her tears from her face and tried to stop from crying. She looked at the shadows that loomed over her and pondered how she got here. Then she realized something, she had been teleporting in her sleep, it had to be that. She looked out the window at the darkness outside quietly. "I can't believe it.. I went exactly where I pictured in my dream.." She whispered to herself. She put on her cloak and pulled it close as if it really would protect her from anything. She let her head rest against the wall and her thoughts drifted away. She longed to know what her dream meant, why she had dreamt it. She fumbled through her pockets before taking out a rose quietly, her eyes staring at it. It was old, wilted, but only a few petals had come off yet. "What does this mean?" She whispered quietly to herself, but her thoughts were interupted by a soft pitter patter from the library entrance. Her eyes looked up, half expecting it to be just another dream illusion.

Pitter patter was one of the most acceptabled terms for the noise her feet made when she moved. The soft leather wearing away day by day on the bottom of her boots rubbing idly against the stone-tiled floor. Nose pressed in a book that had near no signifigance to anything she generally studied, but then again, the library wasn't really her place of residence.

With all extra sensory turned off, the causual alertness of a fighter slipping through her fingers. She assumed the library was vacant, save the pigeons that escaped the cold ever-so-often huddling themselves in poorly made nests in the highest and most vacant areas of the shelves. So far out of reach no one bothered to get them down, by the time they would ascend the ladder the chubby birds would be long gone... only to return when the wind started to blow again.

Company really wasn't of concern now. Having rid herself of the sword that burdened her, it was a relief to have a weapon by her side at all times, that she could actually opperate. A finely crafted chakram hanging loosly from the sash about her waist. The sash there for the sole reason to carry the weapon easily, made from nothing more than sloppily tied cotton scraps.

Despite the company of the pigeons, she roamed the room as she normally would. With little regard for poise or elegance, simply seeking a comfortable place to nestle with the book. Finding such on an abandoned stool, alone near a raised beam and candlabrum. Feet raised and crossed to rest infront of her on the rising platform that made the piller appear shorter, and more elegant.

She half noticed the disgruntled pigeons flapping their wings, but hadn't really paid any heed to who else may be lurking in the room, until out of the corner of her eye she caught movement. It wasn't much to go by, but nestled childishly in the corner, a young woman? Perhaps old? A woman none the less, her age and features undefined by bad eyesight.

Her fingers toyed with her weapon, hand sheilded by her waist, the weapon opposing the direction of the intruder. She didn't look threatening, but then again neither did a lot of evil things... Lazily she gave into intution. And released her grasp on the bladed ring. Standing she shut the book, announcing her enterance in a much louder respect.

"You know you could startle a thousand birds if you move..." She muttered, sending the puffed up annoyances into a frenzy. "But I think I already did that for you..." She looked at the ground for a moment, kicking away a stray bit of loose tile. And moving slowly she set the book down on a table near her, raising her hands in the air, palms towards the girl. "Unarmed, for the time being. Are you the same?" She asked, her head tilting in one direction inquisitivly. Her voice had a strange accent, hard to decifer; however if one had to guess, it would most likely be labled, British.

Meera ran her hands through her thick brown hair once again as she sat in the library. She usually came to this calm and collected place when she needed to think. At this time, she did need to think, but she was to distressed to pay heed to what needed to get done. Her hair lay messily down around her shoulder showing her carelessness about her hygene that day. Her cheeks were flushed and eyes were bloodshot from loss of sleep. She had been here all day. A whole flock of pigeons could have flown in that door at once and she wouldn't have heard them. Still now, she didn't hear either footsteps on the floor. She absentmindedly fingered the gorgeous bracelet that Kli had given her that one day. Meera could remember it clear in her mind as if it had been yesterday. In fact, Kli was the sole reason why Meera was distressed today. She hadn't seen her friend in so long. Her mind kept travelling back to the image of Kli lying down on the hilltop so badly injured. Meera could only hope that Kli wasn't there right now. It was pure luck that Meera happened to be riding along on that day. Meera took a deep intake of air, then let it out slowly. She lay her head down on the table softly, just thinking about what could have happened to her.

Suddenly, her eyes finally caught the movement of shoes upon the floor. She was not the least bit frightened for if this person was at all evil, he or she would never have walked into a library so precariously. She also wasn't alarmed for she had weapons of her own that could be used at last resort. Even due to all that reason for keeping peace, she still tiredly lifted her head up to see who it was. For a while, she could only see a book, but when she lifted it down, Meera could tell it was a woman. Meera sighed and was about to put her head down when she heard the woman talking. Meera thought "is she talking to me?" but then she noticed that the woman was looking to her side. Meera was at an angle that she couldn't see who she was talking to, but her curious nature wouldn't allow it to stay that way for long. She slowly got up and walked to the end of the bookshelf, then peeked around the corner. Who she saw made her heart lurch incredibly. There was a great deal of stress lifted off of her chest when she saw Kli. She ran towards the sitting figure, not caring about the other woman for a moment, and hugged her tightly. She was crying, she was so happy.

Kli_Of_Lorian - January 30, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
She saw that the woman was not the one she had in her dream, but another. She stared for a while, now realizing that it wasn't another dream. "I draw no sword nor weapon unless I am to protect myself. I am unarmed, also, for the time being except for the one weapon that everyone has: the mind." She said quietly. As she said this, she unsheathed her sword and lay it on the ground. The sword had a gold handle with a strong but light blade. The symbol of Imythess was engraved into the handle and strange runes on the blades. She stared at the blade of Lorian a while before her blue grey eyes looked up to the woman quietly. "If I were you, I wouldn't hang around me.. Some people seem to aways be followed by death and pain.." She said quietly. "I don't think you would want either.." She said quietly. She started to get up, but before she could she felt two arms hugging her. She looked confusingly at the woman hugging her and then realized who it was. She gave her a slight hug before wriggling from her friends grip.

She stood up, taking a step away from the corner. She needed a little time to think, but she didn't know how to explain it. She couldn't just disappear, it would be rude and childish. She still held the rose as she stood there quietly. The rose started to glow with a soft light as if it was a candle, a simple mage spell (light), nothing big. The light hit her pale face and lightened the room slightly. She took a step back as she faced the two of them quietly. She didn't say anything, she didn't really understand what she was doing in the first place. "I..." She paused for a moment. "I need a little time to myself.. I'm sorry, Meera, that we cannot catch up this very second, but thoughts deepen into my soul and sting with pain." Her eyes wandered behind her quietly and she turned to walk over to a table. She stood on the chair only to sit in the middle of the table. She looked at the dust that covered the long rectangular table that was piled with books that had not yet been put back. She closed her eyes, folding her legs beneath her as she was deep in thought. Soon she was floating about three inches from the table, but she didn't notice. Her mind still thought about her dream. What does this mean? Does it really mean what I think it means? Is it that whoever I love will disappear as soon as I get close to them? How can this be? She thought. She knew she was being rude, but she also couldn't pretend to be happy when things were on her mind.

Nightgazer - January 30, 2005 10:00 PM (GMT)
The excitement that Meera felt as she embraced her friend was so relieving that it could not be explained. That great feeling went away slowly as Kli wriggled out of her grip. Meera normally would have just assumed that nothing was wrong, but the look on Kli's face said more than just that. She brought her arms back down to her side. They, all of a sudden, felt very heavy like Meera wouldn't be able to lift them back up even if she tried. Her eyes watched Kli silently with a steady unwavering gaze. Some people thought that silence cured all. Others believed that things only work if you talk it out. Meera believed in a mixture of both depending on the situation. When Meera heard Kli tell her that she needed to be alone, she immedietly understood. Meera nodded her head and then sat down with her back on the wall. She really did need to catch up with Kli, though she knew that Kli was having an emotionally hard time right now.

Meera figured that she could wait here, until Kli was ready to talk. When Meera returned her gaze from the floor, back to Kli, she saw Kli levitating off of the table. Her eye's widened in wonder. She wanted to ask Kli how to do that, but it appeared that Kli was in deep thought. If Meera were to interrupt now, it would probably end what was so important to Kli at this moment. Meera didn't know exactly, but she could guess that the glowing rose had something to do with Kli's emotional pain. While Kli was concentrating on figuring out whatever she was doing, Meera finally noticed the other woman. She said quietly as to not disturb Kli, "Hello ma'm, I'm Meera, who might you be?" and stood up once again.

Scarlet - January 31, 2005 01:29 AM (GMT)
Caution to manners thrown to the wind, Scarlet barely had the time to toss aside the chakram to the beginning pile of weaponry on the floor. She wasn't about to be armed in the presence of one she was not hunting, and one that had voluntarily thrown their weapon aside. It was only fair, the rules of honorable combat, not even in the presence of a fight. Not unusual... once it may have seemed, but not now.

This woman, who she had heard the name spoken now was entitled 'Kli'. Noting that, she jotted down on the mental parchment also her movements. How even in the embrace of a close friend, contact was wary and/or unwanted. And solitude was sought in the realm of happiness. A bit strange, but then again human depression was one thing, and it seemed to carry through the races.

The other girl who had now spoken, noting the reluctance to associate with herself, she tilted her head to the side in a questioning manner, almost as if she didn't understand the language that fled the girl’s lips.

"Me?" She mumbled in a mock surprised tone. "I believe, I am Confused." Extending a hand in greeting. "And I believe you are not Meera, you are Upset." Offering a small grin to show the lack of seriousness she motioned to the girl known as Kli, hovering above the table.

"And I think she is you times three?" She always had a way of playing with words, not in any attempt to confuse the girl, but rather to amuse herself, and avoid giving away information to a stranger. These subtleties were the very things that kept her alive. As the woman had mentioned, her only weapon was her mind. And although Scarlet here was not a magic being, her mind could be quite powerful in the absence of all other defense.

(OCC: Just keep posting okay? I'm going to let Kli meditate a little bit and will be back in a few more posts. Thanks.. [p.s. sorry for the short post.. Can't do much right now])

Kli sat there, eyes still closed as she concentrated quietly, her red and black wavy hair contrasting her clothes. She still hovered over the table, still in her own mind, trying to make sense of the dream. Keep it together Kli.. You can't let your friends down by giving up.. You cannot break down in front of them either. You must be strong for this world, you must not let human emotion control you, but let the gods guide the rightful way. You will understand it, or you will pretend to.. You will be strong.. She thought to herself, trying to calm herself down as she tried to understand what was going on.
