Title: What they say about curiosity...
Description: {P}Rith

Thomas - January 29, 2005 12:50 PM (GMT)
It was not long before he decided to investigate this place that was forementioned by the first of those he met in his days in Imythess. What had brought him here was a sense of wonder and curiosity since, if it was true, this forest was teleported here by the powers that only a planeswalker could manage. This had to be how Rianna got here, but perhaps he could find a way out, should luck and chance favour him?

This was what brought him here, if nothing else. The chance to return home to his people. If he could return home then he can rebuild his powers in the land that he had created with his strength and magic. It was a challenging and enticing thought, but he knew that it was only a chance - a miracle of a chance - of it ever happening. It was knowing this that he sighed, silently hoping that he could return home.

Not even the darkness bothered him any longer. The forst of Gloomwood did not make him afraid of it nor made him fall in love with it. It simply allowed him to think and wonder. This was what allowed him to think about his home again in the dark and silent woods that seemed alien to all but him. He had been to the Shadow Realm before so what surprise could be brought out of something that was 'discarded' by them he could not wonder.

While deep in his thought, he heard something moving nearby. He was too lost in thought to do anything about it, though, and he soon returned to his thoughts, leaving whatever it was to come. He had no quarrel with whatever was near.

Rith - January 30, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
Rith walked walked slowly through Gloomwood. He had found a certain liking for the place. The mishapen tree were what most caught his attention. The darkness was not a problem for rith. He could see through nearly as well as he could see through daylight. Two umba's walked beside Rith. They were not truely ubrma, but Terror and Torment taking the form of the creatures of darkness. Terror was normaly purple wisp, but in this form he would not give off a spooky purple light and perhaps scare away the creatures of darkness. Torment was normally a worg, but in that form he would not be able to see well through the magicla darkness of gloomwood.

Rith was out here on an order of buisness. The blood dripping down Tormen't mouth was suffecient evidence that the buisness was ended. The man who had died was a fool who sought to make a profit off of selling Umbra kits which he had craftly stolen from their homes, but this was not why Rith had ordered his death. The crafty theif was also apart of an organization of which Rith was currently at odds with. The man had been with a group of bandits who were basically plundering from any who traveled through Norwood forest and too close to their camp. The bandits would have robbed Tamuril if it were not for Rith's interferance. Rith had let some of them live, but intended for them not to do so for long. Hector Gale was the last of the bandits to meet his death.

Rith's gaze soon fell upon Thomas as he walked through the woods. He found it curious that the person walked through the forest with no source of light at all. Most people could not see through the magical darkness, but perhaps this person was like Rith and could do so. Rith changed his course so that he was walking towards Tom. "Hello, Sir," the child-like figure asked Tom.

Thomas - February 4, 2005 11:22 AM (GMT)
The voice appeared faint to his ears, either because of the effects of Gloomwood or because he was lost in thought. Either way, he only understood that someone was near when he heard the voice. Of course, it was only then that Thomas found out that he could not see much in this darkness. He could just about tell that he was awake. Looking around at first he could see nothing, but then he grasped his staff and whispered "Light!" into his staff and almost immediately an aura of light glimmered upon the tip of the staff, revealing the child-like form that was walking towards him. How he could see so clearly Thomas wondered for a moment as he dimmed the light so that he could make out the outline of the tree beside him and of the figure heading towards him.

"Greetings, young traveller." Thomas responded. "I do hope that you are not as lost as I may be, for I have travelled aimlessly in this darkness for a while." It was no lie, obviously, for he doesn't know where he is in the forest right now, whenever now was. "May I ask what brings you to such a place? If it would satisfy you then I shall explain my reasons for being here also. Would you like to talk, little sir?"

Almost unaware that he may offend with the words "young" and "little", he continued to look around him, noticing the two creatures nearby. Some familiar aura came from the one and immediately after realising the similarities he closed his lips, gazing upon it. -That looks like a creature, but I can somehow feel some familiar kinship with the wisps...- Thomas thought as he gazed upon it. Looking to the other, he had a gut feeling about that one also. -I can also feel that this is normally a great beast that could tear me apart if I am not careful. What secrets does this child hold...?- At this he stopped thinking and wondered how, if he had to, he was going to get out of this - not to mention getting out of this alive.

Rith - February 7, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
Rith watched as Thomas cast his spell and light flushed out the darkness about him. Rith was curious as to why he would be wandering about in the darkness without sight or things to replace his sight. His words and casting of light did well to show that thomas could not see in the darkness. The person was surely not hunting an umbra, or he would not have likely casted the spell and would have likely commented on the dark umbra with Rith. The man was smart or at least knew how to make himself seem intelligent. He deduced that Rith was not as much a child as he seemed. Rith had never before seen a child of seven being called little sir.

"I indeed never get lost. I always find my way to a troubled man as I am assured I have. If you have no toubles about you, then you either have an invisble freind or I am indeed lost," Rith smiled. He dind't quite lie. He always was on the look for someone in need of help. He ofcourse always plotted a way to profit from the encounter, but what was the point in doing something if you got no reward. There were fools believed that helping the person was it's own reward, but that was not enough to Rith. "I am very curious as to why you are are and more so why you wander in the dark when you have acess to the light," Rith said curiously as his purple eyes looked into Thomas' eyes and making an attempt at probing the thoughts of the battlemage.

Terror broke off of Rith's side and began to make a circle around Thomas. If an umbra could smile it would be likely that Terror would be smiling as his eyes fixed on Thomas. Torment broke off to the other side of Rith going in the opposit direction of Terror. He casually lickly the the blood on the corners of his mouth. Torment's cheerless gaze stayed upon thomas hoping that the man would do something foolish enough that would call for Torment to be able to play with him.

Thomas - February 8, 2005 12:56 PM (GMT)
Thomas' gaze fleeted that way and this, watching carefully all that was before him. He held his silence for longer than he wished to as he noticed the one creature going in circles around him, uncomfortably watching it with knowledgeable caution. There was a moment that he looked up to Rith and he spotted the other creature licking off some crimson substance. -Blood...- Thomas thought as he looked upon it. Now he was even more cautions with what he did. If he tried to strike the nearer creature, he may well have to deal with the other creature. Likewise with this child whom, as Thomas looked upon him again, did not seem like a child at all - not one for his age, nonetheless. Attempting to speak would have meant risking his life with the closest of these beings before him and after considering all this Thomas thought his options were few.

-What to do...?- Thomas repeated for a while. -This creature has elements of the wisp, the further has elements of some other beast and this person before me seems unlike any child I know. I do not know of any child that would wander in the darkness. Ugh...what to do?- At this he sighed, not parting his lips as he took note of the closer creature once more. -I could try to run, but then these creatures may be faster than me. Talking would risk my mind. Attacking would mean risking my flesh. The child bids me respond but his creature stops me from doing so. Its rotations annoy me but to strike it would mean dealing with the other creature in the distance. Having him call them back would mean I have to speak, both risking the chance of annoying him and losing my life in the same time. After all, I know nothing on the capabilities of this figure before me. What do to...?!-

Continuing to wander in circles in his mind, he sighed again, looking to the two creatures in turn then to the child. It was as if he was telling him to call off his creatures so that he may speak, though he dared not speak his words - not with the creature near to him. He remained still throughout this, not wishing to move for any reason as he knows escape is useless and attacking is likewise. He had little else to do, in his mind, and he silently wished he could speak to this person through his mind. Yet that power, along with many others, have been lost to time and its withering effects on the mind.

Rith - March 7, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
(Sorry it is short,)
Rith resisted the urge to laugh at the thoughts indecisive thoughts that flooded Thomas' mind. Surely the fool knew that an error in omition could end worse than most things he would normally say in reply. Rith was now very curious as to why one such as him would be in a place like this without a light to say the least. Perhaps it was some one's cruel idea of a joke or perhaps the fool had not thought out fully what he was getting himself into. Rith found the man's thoughts of Terror and Torment strange. How would he possibly have any belief they were anything besides umbra at the moment andm Rith had doubts the man even knew what an umbra was in the first place.

Rith continued his slow approach. His two minions continued stealthly about their buissness, but they slowly faded in a manner that made them seem as illusions that never existed. Having handled the man's first wish it was likely that the second was not needed, but Rith decided to do it anyways. If anything to perhaps show that he was far more than a boy. "Don't not let your fear bind you so. You will end up having done nothing and dieing to your own indecisiveness. Now that that which has disturbed you has been removed, perhaps you may tell tell me why it is that you come to these woods," Rith's words sounded in Tom's mind. Rith's lips of course did not move at all.

Thomas - March 9, 2005 04:34 PM (GMT)
-Telepathy!- Thomas remarked in thought as Rith sopke to him as the two creatures faded like illusions. He knew telepathy as it was cast upon him as he once had this ability some time ago. -But now I don't ha-- He halted his thought as he suddenly recalled his powers of telepathy. -What the...?- He asked himself, but saving the motion until later he decided to turn back to Rith and respond to his query.

~May not one walk freely in the woods?~ He responded using his telepathy. ~I know I cannot see in the darkness, but I can dim and release the light as I please. I think you just caught me off-guard as my light vanished from sight.~ He then looked around him and, not seeing those creatures, he asked Rith a question. ~What were those creatures that accompanied you just now? I have not encountered one before and I felt strange recognitions, else absurd suspicions, on what else they may be.~ He was not ready to answer Rith's question yet - besides, how could he let someone like this know how weak he is now, knowing that there was some odd sorcery involved in this meeting. -This 'child' speaks as wisely as myself.- Thomas gathered as an off-cast thought.

He looked around him again, the light of the staff still glimmering as he tried to find out what happened to those creatures, looking at where their respective positions would be and as to how they vanished so suddenly and without warning. -Were they real? They sure felt like it...- Thomas thought as he glanced to Rith between individual searches, keeping attention spanned around him, making him alert of anything that could give something away.
