Title: A new (?) life begins...
Description: Open to all

Dark Phate - January 27, 2005 05:29 AM (GMT)
Floating for what felt like ages and ages upon a log, the man who called himself Phate had finally spotted land. Laughing weakly to himself and muttering "about damn time i found something other than sea reefs..." Entirely too weak and waterlogged to free himself from the self made prison of his log, he just let his tortured body float freely until he log stopped on the sand close to shore, and there rested, waiting to get enough strength to move from the water to the sandy beach. Finally feeling as if he had waited long enough, he mustered just enough strength in his weak limbs to climb a few feet onto the beach to fly almost imediately into a fitful and feavered sleep.

Dreaming of his short life before the trial of his log, images of his strange... rebirth?... into that horrid island of fire and finding the only means of escape days later, a log that just happened to beach itself flashed in his minds eye. He dreamed how he had found his freedom, waking one morning with it floundering helplessly on the only part of the island that offered any protection at all, a shallow little alcove, with a cave barely big enough to fit his muscular frame. When he went to inspect this strange coinhabitor of his hell, he found many forms of script scratched on the log, but the only two words he could decipher were Dark, and Phate, and decided to name himself thusly. Not really sure what to do with the log, he finally slept with the log brought far enough inland to ensure its safety from the tide.

Immediately after waking the very next morning, he set off, making a truely free decision for the first time in his memory. Although he was not sure how long his trip had taken, it had given him plenty of time to think on what could have possinly have happened to him. He had awoken one day many suns ago into a life full of confusion. Who was he? From whence had he come? Why was he tattooed in such a manner? What purpose did his strange eyes serve? Why did he have a weapon? Was he a former warrior and this hades? What was the strange ache in his muscles and bones that seemed only to stop when those strange dreams plagued him?

Perhaps he was mad, and was really just an old tired man who had seen too much horror in a short life. These were the thoughts that plagued him in his dreams that first night, and caused such a feavered pitch that shook his water beaten body. Finally, he awoke with a start, and with cold sweat dripping from every pore, to the crunch of feet in the sand very close to him, and someone speaking... to him, if he was not mistaken...

Pheonix - January 27, 2005 07:02 AM (GMT)
There was indeed someone speaking to the man laying on the beach. "Heylo?" Pheonix poked the waterlogged form with her staff, not quite sure if the being was alive or dead. Pheonix hoped he was alive. Pheonix didn't like seeing people hurt, or dead, or ... whatever. "You ain't dead ... are ya?" Pheonix isn't exactly the most tactful sort.

She herself had been just aimlessly wandering along the shore. No real plan in mind of where she was going, or where she might end up. But, Pheonix never was much good at planning anything. Then her ears gave a twitch and Pheonix could've sworn she'd caught scent of .. something out on the beach that seemed out of place. At first, the wolf half of her told her to just ignore it. But then the two other things that made up her being made her change her mind. Whether it was the human curiousity that could never go unheeded, or the angel part of her that wanted to lend a hand to anyone might needing it, Pheonix changed her path. It didn't take long for her happen across the form laying on the beach.

So that was what lead her to this, poking the poor guy with a broken staff that Pheonix really should have replaced a long time ago. For a second, Pheonix thought about throwing water over his head to revive him. That worked the last time Pheonix happened acorss an unconcious person. But she finally determined that this guy was wet enough already. "IF you're alive. Wake up."

Stirring on the ground where he lay, he arose to a sitting position and stared blurrily at the strange figure standing before him. Trying to buy some time let his sleep filled eyes focus, he mumbled a dry and scratchy "Who are you?" Not completely sure of what he saw, he blinked and looked again and finally took the entire she- wolf of a human in. "For that matter", he spoke again,"what are you"? Realising a little too late that this might affend the... interresting being standing before him, he began to look for an escape route just in case. Upon finding one to the left of the being, he decided to wait it out and see what would happen, mostly because he was far too exhausted to flee properly. Hopefully, this wolflike being was in a jolly mood , and would not take it upon herself to end his short and pain filled life. Deciding to amend his speech with one last breath, he said "I am sorry if I offend, but you truly are the first... person, I have ever spoken too..."

Pheonix - January 28, 2005 01:53 AM (GMT)
"Oh good. You're are alive." Pheonix put away her staff and knelt. She studied the other for a second, before scratching an ear. "The name's Pheonix." She laughed at the question of what she was. It was a question she was quite used to. "Ah, yes. Fur-ed ears and a tail aren't exactly normal attributes of a girl, eh?" Pheonix was never one to be so easily offended. Actually, she found it quite amusing when someone was confused as to her form. "Human, Angel, and Wolf-Demon. In short, I am, a mutt." Pheonix was always a good natured sort, and didn't seem to mind saying what she was.

Pheonix looked around, this beach sure was lifeless. But since Pheonix didn't know if that was normal or not, she shrugged it off. "And what's you name?"

Dark Phate - January 28, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
"Human, Angel, and Wolf-Demon, eh?" "Thats quite a mix you have there," he said with as much of a smile as he could muster. "My name is Phate, or at least that is the name i have decided to call myself..." "Im not exactly sure where I am from," he said, and then laughed to himself, "but as far as i can tell, it was a much harsher place than this land." "You couldnt tell me what land this happens to be, could you?" he said, looking around easily now that he was a little more relaxed. He was very intrigued by this land, and this person standing before him. He was beginning to think that, at the very least, he could learn to like this land and all its people, but that would come later.

Right now, he needed to focus upon finding himself, and healing his ravaged body... "That reminds me," he said out of nowhere, "you wouldnt happen to also know of a place i could go to get rest and help, would you?"

Pheonix - February 7, 2005 07:18 AM (GMT)
"Yes. Quite a mix, or so I'm often told." Pheonix nodded, and smiled slightly. "Nice to meet you then Phate. This land here, it's called Imythess." Pheonix stood, and took a quick glance around. "Le'see. You could go to Taras. Its the capitol city. There's a Healing place there and a tavern and inns and all that good stuff." Pheonix knew only a little about this land. She was rather new here herself. But she did know about the important stuff. Places to go and whatnot.
