Title: Solemn Mists

Athiyk - November 14, 2003 01:03 AM (GMT)
The refreshingly cool mists clung to Athiyk's blackish skin as she held her Sword of Air, her newest weapon that she had acquired as a gift from a dying dragon. It was very light, even though it looked as though it was designed for two hands instead of one, with which Athiyk held it now. She still kept her remaining scimitar in its sheath at her hip, but was still getting accustomed to using one weapon instead of two. In her practices, she had used a dagger instead and found that to work well, and helped her keep her balance.

It was a rather bleak place to be, but Athiyk had felt the urge to get away from people, and the Misted Hills were as quiet a place as any. She had set up a small camp where a small fire crackled on damp wood. Rosa grazed not far from the sparse light the fire let off.

Athiyk stood in the cool darkness and held her weapon, starting her excercises with a few basic moves, then slowly making more complicated techniques.

Along his travels Kayden comes upon a large area of dense fog, it was difficult to see. Having not learned anything to light up his path he begins to make his way through the area. He feels another presence near him, something was moving, drawing his katana he walks toward the presence.

Along the way he trips over a twisted root sticking up out of the ground, falling to the grass at his feet he releases his sword to break his fall with his hands. He gets to his hands and sits down, shaking his head he tries to regain himself, quickly realizing he had not thrown his sword far enough. Pain rushing through his arm he pulls the sword out of his hand. Wincing in pain from the wound he sheaths his sword and lets the blood drip from his hand.

Standing back to his feet and shakes his head and chuckles slightly to himself, he then realizes he is no more than 10 feet from the other being he had sensed earlier. Looking up he sees a woman, looking to be a dark elf, or a drow. He watches her fluid like movements with her sword, quite a sight it was. He hadn't seen someone who had such control of a blade, he began to wonder who she was. Walking up further toward her, he stops when he comes 4 feet of her then says to her "you are very skilled with that blade, who are you?"

As he waits for the answer he continues feeling blood drip down his fingers, but seems to be able to ward off the pain somewhat. He definetly wanted to know who this woman was, and how she learned to move like that.

Athiyk paused and turned towards the stranger, her blades moving with her into a defensive position in case of attack. Seeing that he did not seem to be hostile, sher let her guard down a little, but he still held a blade and was not about to let it down completely.

"I am Athiyk," she smelled the blood from his hand and her blue eyes flicked downwards to see the wounded hand. "That is a bad cut. Would you like me to heal it for you?"

She had felt no hositility, only a mild curiousity coming from the man. She knew she probably should have been more cautious, yet felt comforted by the presence of another person in the dark mists. Her expression softened and the alarm that had flared in her eyes before calmed. Rosa raised her head at the approach of the stranger, but did not seem concerned. The unicorn often sensed the intentions of others and if this man had any dark intentions she would have reacted with more than a raise of her head.

He watches her blades, shaking his head to her question. Kicking up the dirt slightly with his right foot he didn't really know if he should talk again. His eyes scanned the entire area, he didn't know whether or not she was hostile, he felt that she wasn't but not entirely sure.

He then says to her "no, I'm fine, it's just a minor wound. Nothing that wont heal over time." He suddenly feels his foot hit a hard rock then his face goes rather odd looking. Doing his best to hold in a yell from the amount of pain he had just felt. He walks around in circles limping slightly on his left foot. His face was completely red from holding in, he was even holding his breath at the time.

Slowly the pain seemed to have gone away as he snickers slightly to himself, realizing how much of a clutz he was at the time. He looks up to this...Athiyk, wondering what she had thought of him now, first a cut from a fall, now a few broken toes. Feeling like an idiot he tries to hide that feeling and says "well then, hello Athiyk, my name's Kayden, I'm new to this land." He tries to keep somewhat of a straight face, thinking of how bad that hurt before.

He bows slightly to her and says "Why are you out here anyway Ms. Athiyk, seems kind of a...bland place to be." Not even stopping to think maybe it was so people weren't there to bother her.

Athiyk - December 21, 2003 01:28 AM (GMT)
Athiyk watched him with amusement, her blue eyes dancing in mirth even though her expression betrayed nothing else. Rosa snorted almost in a laugh.

"Its bleak, but its also calm. Dark places like this reminds me of who I once was. Its also very calming, if not haunting." thiyk was not completely sure what to think of Kayden as he called himself. "What brings you out here? You do not seem the type to go looking for solitude in hills rumoreds to be haunted."

She sheathed her weapons, deciding that her practice was over. Wiping sweat and clinging mists from her brow she gestured to the campfire.

"Please, come and sit and give your poor toes some mercy," Athiyk said with the faintest of smirks.

Kayden - December 21, 2003 01:50 AM (GMT)
He chuckles slightly and nods to her "alright, and thanks" he walks over to the campfire and sits beside it, he then looks at her, replying to her earlier question "haunted or not...I am well enough, most of the time anyway, to take care of myself." Thinking to himself he tells her "as I said, I'm new here anyway, I don't know about these parts."

He lays down in the grass and looks to the sky "it has been a hard journey so far...so I don't really fear anything that I have seen here yet...unless of course you wanted to kill me or something, then I'd scared." he says in a humorous tone. He was very serious though, he would not have stood a chance if she had proved to be hostile. He was indefinetly wary of her, and he would probably be for quite awhile, yet he felt she could be trusted.

He sits back up and scratches the back of his head, not really sure what to say or anything else, he looks toward her. As he does so he says to her "I am guessing you're a drow, by your grace in motion...a normal dark elf has slightly cruder attacks. It is very nice to meet you Athiyk, I have never met a drow before." He had felt quite honored to have met her, he had not let that on for he didn't want her getting the wrong idea. Rubbing his eyes he found himself to be growing weary, he had not slept in several weeks, he had been too busy exploring this new land. Thinking about the past to himself he wonders about her past, not really paying much attention to his thoughts he asks her "what was your past like? I have heard that drow tend to live in dark places." He then takes a few peices of grass and begins to put something together with them. Waiting for her answer he continues with the grass.

She smiled, sincerely this time, rather than a sarcastic smirk. "I am indeed a Drow, although I am hardly a Drow that would be considered honorable among my people. I am weak and a traitor in their eyes. I do not want your pity, so I will not go into detail of my past. Just that the Drow do not deal with traitors lightly. And you would be surprised with the attacks of the Drow. I was taught the difficult type of fighting known as Draa Velve, meaning 'Two Sword,' mostly because I was born with the balance required to fight with two weapons. It runs along the females in my family."

Athiyk sat as well as she spoke. Watching the fire spark she reached and put another log onto the fire.
