Title: Death Everywhere...
Athiyk - November 14, 2003 12:23 AM (GMT)
Athiyk could hardly believe what she saw. It was her first time to see the graveyard. It was dark and the wind whipped her long white hair about violently as she looked down on the valley from the back of Elemiire, her silvery colored steed.
The ancient skeletons of enormous dragons lay everywhere. There were only one or two bodies that still rotted. The stench of death hit her. It was not only a stench, but a feeling as well. Athiyk could feel it all over her obsidian skin.
She fought down a shudder, and thought perhaps she should turn back.
No. Too late to back off now... She told herself with resolution.

Oh my. A look of disgust covered her face as Ciara pulled up a sleeve to her cloak only to cover her nose. She had wandered into what she believe was some sort of graveyard. There were enormous bones laying all about, they appeared to be the bones of many dragons. Wait, I know this place. Yes, I read of it while in the Talas Library. This is that Dragon Graveyard. By the looks of it, they left out the horrid details of this place. Shivering as a strong gust of wind made its way past her she wondered if this place was too dangerous for her to be. Looking back and up the steep rocky valley walls. There didn't appear to be any threat just now. Perhaps her time spent here would be safe. Walking on, she happened to glance to her right and noticed a human-like figure. Turning her direction she called out to them and waved her free arm. It may be best if I travel with this person, if trouble were to rise that is. Continuing to walk on, she only hoped that they had heard her calling.

Athiyk dismounted and continued down the slope into the graveyard, hoping, praying that there were no ghostly dragons nearby. It was said that the spirits of dead dragons haunted graveyards such as these and that they had powerful magic. She shuddered as the feeling of being watched came upon her.
Erthe, her newest companion, walked by her side easily down the slope, her white-gray coat contrasting strangely against the dark and gloomy landscape.
It was here Athiyk hoped to find the something of great importance to her. A legend that had intrigued her since she was a child almost a century ago. It was said that a black stone was created once, long ago by a powerful and good Drow mage. It was tied to a dark gray unicorn that would appear whenever the wearer of the stone amulet called to it. In Menzoberranzan, where she first heard the story, the creator of the stone was portrayed as a weak coward, but when Athiyk heard the story told by a surface-dweller, it was much different.
It was not long ago when Athiyk had come across the script in the library at the temple of night where she learned that there truly was such a stone that hung from a leather necklace that truly would summon a dark unicorn steed and Athiyk wished to find it.

Ciara stopped, calling out again, this time more loudly, but still the person ahead of her walked on. A strong gust of wind blew over her and she began to feel uneasy with her surroundings. Why don't they hear me? She pulled her cloak tighter around herself, hugging it trying to keep the shivers that spread up and down her spine away.
She frowned, her brows dipping low as she became discouraged. She had very little experience with her daggers and her aim was not exactly on with her shooting of her bow. If this person did not stop and accompany her, she feared that she would be in danger. Worse yet, her thoughts ran to if this person was not a friend, but a foe. She would then be in far more danger than she could imagine. Her companions alone looked like they could be a great threat let alone whatever their master could do.
Ciara pressed on, quickening her pace, taking long steps, weaving around the bones that scattered across the ground. Her bare feet were now cold and dirtied from the long trek through the unfriendly terrain. Her eyes searched through the darkness, trying to keep lookout for anything that might jump out at her. The frown remaining on her face as she walked along fearfully, hoping she would not entangle herself into a mess of danger and destruction upon reaching the group ahead of her.

Athiyk had not heard, due to the whipping wind that had again picked up, but Erthe's much more sensitive ears perked up and she looked back. Seeing the stranger, she snarled and nipped gently at her masters hand to alert her.
Athiyk turned and saw Ciara following. "Hail!" she called to her. "It is nice to see someone who is not among the dead here, though it may be strange."
The Drow scanned the valley laid out before her, and indeed it seemed that they were the only ones living here. Again she shuddered thinking of the stories of ghostly dragons and other foul things living in dark and dead places such as this. Looking back she waited for Ciara, truly glad that someone else was here and that she wasn't alone. Erthe was still cautious about the stranger, but she did not attack, following Athiyk's cue and using a degree of caution, but not hostility.

Ciara's dishearten frown had sprung into a delighted smile that played with her eyes. It slowly faded as she watched the wolf closely, slight fear in her eyes as the wolf had been staring at her closely. Ciara decided it best if she were to approach from the opposite side of this creature for the time being then brought her eyes up again to Athiyk.
I seemed to have lost myself. I traveled too far into this place. This horrid smelling place and I am afraid that I cannot find my way back. She blushed a soft shade of pink, the wind taking her strands up into the air in an entangled frenzy. I was hoping that I might be allowed to accompany you, aid you with whatever it is you are doing out in this place. Another disgusted face was made as she looked around them now, completely repelled by the stench that the dead had brought up with the fierce winds. In exchange for guidance out of here. If you would be so kind that is.
She smiled to Athiyk. Partially out of nervousness and fear and the other part pleading, trying to persuade her to allow her to stay close with her. I promise not to get in your way and you can take me as far as you can. I would rather not travel alone through these lands. They seem quite unfriendly. Ciara began to feel more confident as she felt that Athiyk was not an enemy at all, then smiled warmly down to her wolf companion, hoping they would accept her to their small group.
