Title: A Dragon's Song

Nym - January 3, 2005 10:43 PM (GMT)
Nym lounged on a pile of large rocks not far from the edge of the lake, her wings folded beneath her as she laid on her back. It was a rather careless way to relax, quick and large predators could easily snatch her while she laid out like that. The again, the drake was fairly confident that there weren't any larger predators besides her in the area.

Her huge eyes were open, alert, actually, keeping track of any movement around her. Every now and then she'd catch some. A bird landing on a tree branch or a rabbit nearby fleeing her presence.

On this overcast day the waterfall rumbled steadily on its way, rather musical, Nym thought. It was unusually warm for this type of day and while the clouds above threatened to possibly release sprinkle later on, and the grass was somewhat brown, she was enjoying herself.

Yes, this seemed to be a lovely day. She even began thrumming a light tune in her throat. It was not long before the thrum became a whistle, tinkling in quality, harmonizing with the waterfalls cascade.

Loki - January 4, 2005 05:19 AM (GMT)
Loki dove, scales gleaming like ebony as she raced towards the surface of the lake, eyes shut and wings pulled tight to the sides of her body. She moved swiftly, twisting into a spiral as she hit the surface of the water, vaguely aware of a strange, piercing noise, not unpleasant, but unusual.

Before it registered fully she was immersed in the water. Her eyes opened, and she dove deeper, jaws opening then snapping shut on a fish. She'd never tried going after a fish before, and was rather entertained by the feeling of it wriggling around and trying to escape.

She wheeled in the water, turning towards the edge, and moved quickly. Her clawed feet dug into the mud as she got closer to shore, and she walked out from the lake, shaking her wings a bit to remove the water from them.

She heard the sound again, and she stopped, water dripping from her scales as she listened to it.
