Title: One Step Closer

Famine - December 27, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
Olath had traveled a far distance to come to this place, and so far, it didn't seem to be worth it. The lich knew not, how someone would enjoy to be in this place, and Olath didn't even know for a fact that the person he was searching for would be here. He was already knee-high in swamp land. Pestilence seemed to thrive in this godforsaken place, which was what drew Olath to search for the one named Vernon here.

The marsh's inhabitants, which consisted of mainly bugs, had seemed to driven any other life form larger than a dog away. The trees had a look that made them seem as if they hated their own existance, and any other existance that had unfortunately made their way into this place. But Olath right now, couldn't worry about that. He had come here for one reason, and that was to find a third rider for the army he planned on making. Large armies required more than one leader, if he hoped for a stable army.

Olath became annoyed at having to walk through knee-high muck, and decided to call out for the being that he searched for. "Vernon, I am calling you out!" Olath shouted. If the lich did find Vernon, he would be one step closer to his destination.

(OOC: srry it took so long, I sorta had writers block. It still seems a little short.)

Vernon - December 27, 2004 09:34 PM (GMT)
Vernon was resting peacefully in the swamp. He loved this place. Sure it wasn't as loud as the city, but it was swarming with thousands of diseases and filth could be found everywhere. Vernon smiled as he leaned back against a thick tree. The bottom half of his body was lost inside the muck. He reached out to his bag of rotten foods and pulled out a hunk of rancid cheese. It was nearly covered in mold, just the way Vernon liked it. He licked the corners of his portuding mouth as his eyes stared hungrily at his snack. Vernon was about to eat it when he heard some one call his name. It was certainly a long time since some one had done that. As much as he trried he was not a people person. Nearly every one he spoke with one a freindly level either left because they couldn't stand his stench or died of some fatal disease. Vernon wondered what on earth this person could want. He toosed the cheese back into the pack. He stood up and slung the back pack on his shoulders. He scampered up the tree with his clawed hands and feet.

He climbed around the tree till he was on a thick branch about ten feet away from the water. He was going to make a comment to his visitor about leeches, but it seemed the leeches for the least of the skinless man's worries. "And so I am here," Vernon smiled as he pulled the cheese out of his pack and tossing it in his mouth. Crumbs splashed down in the muck as Vernon licked his filthy fingers. He turned his attention back to the man below wondering what buisness brought the undead before him.

Famine - December 27, 2004 10:48 PM (GMT)
Olath looked over to where the voice was but saw nothing. Seeing that Vernon was not standing on ground level, Olath looked upward and noticed a very large figure in the shape of a rodent. Olath watched as it took out a morself of food, and toss it into its mouth. If Olath were in his human form he probably would've gagged at the disgusting habits of this one. "I come with a proposition for you... " Olath stated, looking into its green eyes. "Why don't you come down here so I can discuss it further with you." He said. Olath didn't know what trickery this creature might be up to, that is why he wanted him within striking distance if he pulled something.

((sorta short))

Vernon - December 27, 2004 11:21 PM (GMT)
Vernon had not heard those words in even a longer span of time. Vernon looked over the man again. He didn't have any living enemies that he knew of and he doubted they would even bother to think of a way to get rid of him if some one had actually managed to survive. Vernon figured that the man below wasn't too much of a threat. He used Vernon's name rather than filthy rat. Vernon swiftly jumped off the branch. Swamp water rose up into the air as Vernon splashed down. Vernon then stood up to his full height, a thing that he did not usually do. "I'm all ears," Vernon smiled. He figured it would be smart to say as little as possible till he at least got an idea of what was going on.

Famine - December 27, 2004 11:34 PM (GMT)
Olath quickly turned his head to keep the swamp water the creature splashed from getting into his hood. Slightly annoyed, Olath turned to face Vernon, who was now standing full height. The creature was tall, for something the dwelled in the swamp. Olath would've imagined that he would be more sickly and thinner for living in disease. Olath only stood two inches taller than he. The lich returned his attention to the matter at hand.

"I wish to bring forth an army of great power, and in order for us to thrive, we need someone, who is skilled in the way of disease. One that could strike our opponents before the actual battle began." Olath said to him. He hoped this would be enough to persuade him, but further explanation would help. Olath thought it would be best if he let Vernon respond to what he had said so far.

Vernon - December 27, 2004 11:58 PM (GMT)
Vernon's tail slowly trailed across the top of the water as he thought over what, Olath had to say. Vernon was finally getting the kind of recognition he deserved. Surely none could be more fit for such a job than himself. "Well, I musat say you've come to the right place. Anyone who knows more of disease has died of one," Vernon smiled. Vernon now took the time to get a better look at Olath. Vernon didn't smell rooting flesh on the man, which was a considerable good thing. It would not be too have a taste for your employer, even if it was bits and peices that were quite unneeded.

"Though you had had me sold at the d word, do you mind telling more of this army you plan on making?" Vernon asked. He was curious as to what goals he meant to accomplish with the army, but it didn't really matter too much so long as Vernon was allowed to have his own fun.

Famine - December 28, 2004 12:08 AM (GMT)
"Our first plans were to simply start attacking a city, then slaughter all of the weak inhabitants, and make the strong willed join our army. But it was too reckless, and the gods would surely intervene, so, all we have to do is somehow, spread some sort of plague, weaken all other armies, and we'll wash over the land like an flood. But before any of this happens, we have to acuire the necessary funds for the army. So we won't have the army for quite a while. I have probably half of what we need." Olath stated. "But of course, you'll get to do your job by whatever means necessary. Whether it be by lauching disease filled cattle from a catapult or merely with the coughing onto someone." He added.

Vernon - December 28, 2004 12:50 AM (GMT)
Vernon smiled. He would have to rember the cattle launching idea. It would certainly not be too efective, or good for their funds but it would be fun to do. "Ah... The first plan was not too good a plan. The stong willed would be more apt to resist your... our army. We would lose more than we gained at least in quality though our quantity may increase," Vernon smiled as he thought over the plan himself. "Returning to the present, What are we going to do about the funds?" Vernon asked. He was curious if this man was going to give his name or not, but it was not too big a deal. By the sound of it he would learn the man's name in due time. In the mean time, Vernon knew he would likely have to change his lazy ways and help replenish the funds for the army.

Famine - December 28, 2004 02:08 AM (GMT)
"I was hoping that everyone currently in the plans would help, instead of putting it on one person, that way it will be balanced." Olath said to Vernond. "So, I'm supposing that you'll join?" Olath asked. "After you there is one other that I search for... I don't suppose you know anyone good for the job?" The lich asked him. He could only guess that the creature had no one in mind, seeing that his only friend was disease, and creatures that spread disease.
"If you don't, than I shall search, and if you want you can too." He stated.

Vernon - December 29, 2004 01:45 AM (GMT)
"Sounds fair enough. I'm in," Vernon replied. Vernon would not be one to know of who would fit the position. Just about every person he knew was more either dead or not liking him, and most of those were on the verge of death. He doubted he would be one to find this person the man spoke of, but it wouldn't hurt to ask what he was looking for anyways. "Do you mind telling me of the missing job so I can help find some one fitting?" Vernon asked. Searching would likely mean cleaning up his habits and himself for a bit so he could stand next to a person without them barfing, but getting funds would mean the same thing. If Vernon knew the search for some random specialized person was out of his leaugue then he would get a head start on something for the funds.

Famine - December 29, 2004 05:37 AM (GMT)
"I do not care who you pick if you find someone, just as long as their good at spreading chaos, or havoc. It can be a man or woman, I care not, just as long as you find them." He said to Vernon. I'm glad I came here. To find one so dedicated as he so early in my plans. He thought to himself. "If you do not mind, I beleive it is best if we go our own ways. We can meet back here whenever the time comes." Olath said as he turned, and started walking away.

Vernon - December 29, 2004 07:44 PM (GMT)
Vernon raised an eyebrow. He was sure that this man was a resourceful one, after all he had found Vernon and there were few who could lead him here or even give a name. Vernon still did not see exactly what he was supposed to do. "How will we know when the time comes?" Vernon asked voicing his thoughts. He expected some strange answer like "We will know when the time is right." or something to that effect. Vernon could see Olath contacting him, but had no idea how he wouild contact him if he found this person they searched for. He didn't even know Olath's name.
