Title: A little light reading

Shien - December 3, 2004 03:55 PM (GMT)
Shien walked into the library, the heels of her shoes hitting the marble floors with an echoing "clack, clack, clack, clack". Her dark robes floated out behind her, and she seemed to move in shadow. Not one of the several people studying the many books noticed her as she went by.
As she walked past the shelves, she noted which books were located where. This row for alchemy, that one for biology, and so on and so forth. She stopped when she came to the row that contained the books on spells and magical enchantments. Looking furtively around her, she slipped down the aisle, and began browsing. Each book contained different spells controlled by different elements. She was searching specifically for those spells controlled by air magic, as that was her prime element.
She found a book that would suit her, and went to find a table to study at. There was one, located on the far left of the room, which was empty, and had good light. She sat down at it, and opened the book.
Inside she found many spells that could help her to grow and become a more powerful person. Her eyes began to glitter as she purused the many options spread out before her.

Gaul - December 8, 2004 10:39 AM (GMT)
Gaul was perched lazily on the window sill blocking little of the light Shien was using to read, Gaul was wearing basic cream coloured clothing with a dark brown cloak that if he wished could cover his face,

his small harp was resting against his knees as he stretched out gently, Gaul then gently reached across and held the harp in a playing postion after working his fingers Gaul gently began strumming the instrument letting a soft melody drift out across the section of the library Gaul was in, continuing to play the harp Gaul's eyes drifted across the people within the library as he finished the song and returned to his slight rest.

Shien - December 8, 2004 04:11 PM (GMT)
As Shien studied the book before her, she became lost in the words and their meanings. She devoured the words with her eyes, and drank them into her hungry mind.
After awhile, she became aware of the world around her. There were very few people in the room, so she was mostly alone. As she lifted her head, she heard the final strains of a beautiful piece of music. She looked around, searching for the source of such a lovely sound. When she found it, she was a little surprised to see that it was coming from a stranger sitting in the window nearby.
He seemed a foreigner, with his cream-colored robes, and his bright red hair. He sat on the edge of the window, idly strumming the harp that rested on his lap.
Shien couldn't help but stare at him. There was something about him that was so...interesting. She couldn't quite put her finger on it.

Gaul - December 8, 2004 06:33 PM (GMT)
Gaul briefly checked the strings on the harp appearing to be busy as his fingers skitted along checked each string, only when he was done did his green eyes look up from the harp to notice a woman staring at him,

Gaul smiled at the woman and then slightly nodded his head "Greetings Mi'lady, I apologise if my music is distracting you" Gaul spoke softly not wanting to raise his voice to high in consideration for the others reading in the library at the time,

Continueing to watch the woman as he waited for a reply he lazily swung his legs down from the resting postion now having them dangle towards the floor as they swung slightly, Gaul was still deciding whether he wanted to come down or not.

Shien - December 9, 2004 09:06 PM (GMT)
Shien smiled warmly at the man.
No sir, you did not distract me. That was very beautiful. Where did you learn to play?
Shien closed the book before her, noting where she had left off. She could always return to finish her reading. This encounter could prove to be interesting.
She folded her hands neatly on the table before her, and looked at the man, her dark eyes glittering in the light of the flickering candles. He was perched on the window ledge, his feet now dangling over, swinging slightly.
Won't you please come down? It is much easier to have a conversation when one does not have to look up so high.

Gaul - December 10, 2004 12:23 AM (GMT)
Gaul smiled back at the woman "I thank you for your kind words and kind smile, I learnt to play with an actor during my younger years" Gaul spoke softly finding no need to raise his voice anymore then where it was at,

Gaul tilted his head his legs still dangling freely at the womans words and he nodded his head as he slipped from his postion and fell easily to the floor after placing the harp in it's case for it's protection. "That is very true"Gaul spoke as he came over to the table that the woman was at and he gracefully fell into one of the chairs watching the woman "My name is Gaul and who do I have the honour of speaking with today?"Gaul asked polietly his flattering words part of his nature and profession as he smiled and waited

Shien - December 10, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
Shien was very pleased and flattered by Gaul's polite manners. She was not used to such things, and was enjoying the attention.
You have the dubious honor of speaking with Shien Darkraven. She inclined her head slightly in a gesture of welcome.
She rested one elbow on the table, and leaned her head against her hand. She looked over the man sitting across from her. He seemed to be in his early 20's, about the same age she seemed to be. His hair was a brilliant red, almost the color of flame. She had never seen hair so red. His eyes were the color of emeralds, a deep green. Beautiful she thought to herself.
Shien shook herself out of her reverie. She had just met the man, it was much too early to be thinking such thoughts.
So tell me more about this actor that you learned to play from. He must have been very talented.

Gaul - December 11, 2004 07:29 AM (GMT)
Gaul grinned slightly at the greeting he recieved and quietly mouthed her name "A very mysterious name," Gaul spoke in his usual quiet tone his eyes level with Shien's as he smiled

Gaul allowed his hands to sit easily on the table and he thought for a moment leaning back in his chair, "Her names Faile, she owned a tavern and she performed frequently, I must have been 10 when I snuck in and tried to steal a meal, I was caught and she must have saw potential in me or something as after that night I never left and began learning things, such as the harp," Gaul retold briefly in a soft poetic voice showing breifly how he could also use his voice as an intrument

Gaul smiled at Shien "I apologise if I seem to be showing off it's not everyday a woman as beautiful as youself takes the time to talk with me" Gaul spoke his smile growing alittle bigger yet still remained humble and not to forceful as he continued to stare into Shien's eyes finding them easy to look at and almost losing himself in them "Do you study the magics? I hear that is quite hard, though i've learnt a few tricks" Gaul asked taking note of the book that Shien had pulled out the smile now seeming fixed on his face

Shien - December 11, 2004 08:49 PM (GMT)
Shien shook her head a little, dragging herself out of her thoughts.
The book? Yes, um, I study magic a bit. I only know a few spells, and those I don't use too often.
What is wrong with me? I never fall this easily. But he's so...handsome. So incredibly handsome.
I play a little bit too. She pulled out the little wooden flute that she carried with her. Not very well, I'm afraid, but I can carry a tune. She ran her fingers over the tiny holes, loving the feel of the smooth, varnished wood.
She leaned over the table, and brought her other elbow up so that she could rest her chin on her folded hands.
Tell me more about yourself. You sound as though you have a rather interesting history.

Gaul - December 12, 2004 05:29 AM (GMT)
Gaul smiled and nodded, the spells he knew weren't meant for violent purposes, Gaul often avoided combat with a smile and a few quick words rather then fighting right out,

Gaul's eyes lit up when Shien pulled out the little woodern flute and a large grin played on Gaul's face "I am impressed, It is a lovely flute, I'm sure you will learn, I would gladly teach you" Gaul spoke softly a warm smile on his face the woman's flute seemed to win him over

Gaul smiled and shrugged "My past is nothing to grand really, mostly wandering the world performing, occasionally staying in cities, I have seen wars conflicts, even started a few myself" Gaul grinned softly before continuing "I have seen a greadt deal, and those who I have travelled with believe I am searching for something...." Gaul paused slowly and thought for a second then added "or, someone"

Shien - December 13, 2004 03:37 PM (GMT)
Shien's face broke into a beautiful smile.
You would consider teaching me? That would be wonderful. Thank you so much! She looked at the little flute in her hands. She hadn't known why it had caught her eye; she didn't know how to play, or who could teach her. But she knew that she wanted it more than anything.
She returned the flute to her pouch, and faced the man before her.
I've been searching for something too. Though lately, it seems, I have lost the drive I had to find it. She shook her head slightly. Sometimes I think I've forgotten what it is that I was looking for. I end up wandering aimlessly though this land, meeting people, and then losing contact with them. I never stay in one place very long; I am always on the move.
